Update!!

I know I have been MIA, life is busy and I find myself too exhausted to write at night sooooo, I’m planning on right now about to dump a bunch at once. I’ve been taking a break from the writing because well, writing 25-30 pages a week has been HARD. It’s not that I don’t enjoy the story, I absolutely do, but I’m also pretty wiped at this point.

But I’m not gone or dead! I promise! Just taking a sabbatical I guess 😅

I may or may not have also discovered character.ai and plugged in my Gordon to run through ideas of the storyline and been having WAY too much fun with that. Like, it’s been a freaking blast and I may be addicted… But anyway, I’ve got most of the entire plot written and I’m excited to continue.

Peace!! Everyone have a great day!!

Has Henry ever seen Little Shop of Horrors? It feels like something that might have caught his attention at some point. (To be clear I’m talking about either the musical or the 1986 movie adaptation.)

🎁 Gift Anon 🎁

Henry: I don’t usually watch scary movies and that one has the name “Horrors” in it.

James: Seriously?! It’s probably one of the least scary movies out there! A little dark, but for crying out loud Henry it’s got a singing plant!

Henry: Just because I like plants doesn’t mean I would watch a scary movie about them.

James: Camille loves animals and she’s watched Pet Cemetery.

Camille: It was boring, do not recommend. But I also like spooky stuff.

Gordon: Henry’s also afraid of literally just about anything.

Henry: I am NOT!

Gordon: Leaves.

James: Elephants.

Gordon: Chicken Pox.

James: Rain!

Hiro: ENOUGH!!

*silence*

Hiro: Is it so wrong that he has short comings? Should we point out your own? James? How you wouldn’t pull a train for a VIP due to the tiniest scratch that no one would have noticed without a microscope? Or Gordon? The amount of times your pride has had you come back to Sir Topham Hatt groveling for your position while my Henry did a fantastical job?

James: I… er…

Gordon: …. *ahem* I apologize Henry.

*Camille and Edward giving their boyfriend/husband a dirty look*

Henry: I wouldn’t mind watching it with you, Hiro.

Hiro: If that is what you wish, my flower.

Traintober!! I know I’m running late, but today was insane! But I’m posting now!

Day 2 - Bridge

It was supposed to be a fun and relaxing day. How could it have turned out so wrong?

Camille and Gordon had decided to go on a double date with James and Edward to the animal park where a new indoor exhibit had opened. It was an indoor rainforest, with open waters to walk by and see all sorts of exciting creatures, from exotic birds and fish to caimans and the creepy crawly insects. Those things more hazardous to health, like the dart frogs and tarantulas were in well-kept and enriched enclosures along the path.

The two couples walked hand in hand with one another, pointing at the different critters walking around and chirping.

“This is absolutely beautiful.” Edward said as James wrapped his arm around him, pulling him close as they walked together, “We’ve never actually been here before, sad enough. Thanks for the invitation, Camille.”

The small tank engine smiled back at the two, “I’ve been really looking forward to this part of the park opening. It’s nice and warm in here and the butterflies that they brought in are absolutely beautiful. They’re even thinking of making a specific butterfly room.”

“They can keep the insects to themselves.” James said with a look of disgust.

Edward chuckled, “Still not over that bee sting after all this time?”

James grumbles and looks away, “Don’t like creepy crawlies..”

“Well, we’ll avoid the tarantulas and spider exhibits then.”

“Yes, please.” James said, eyeing a few exhibits.

Gordon, who had been silent for the most part and just enjoying being around his girlfriend, looked up at the top of the enclosure, “Is that a rope bridge?”

The others followed his eyes. Camille smiled, “Yup! Something fun for the guests to cross apparently.”

James grinned, “Looks like fun!”

Edward frowned, “Looks like a hazard.”

“Well, there’s only one way to find out. Let’s go!” James tugged Edward towards the stairs climbing up.

“But, James, the other animals. I’d like to see-“

“We can come back! I promise!” James grinned and then looked back at Gordon and Camille, “You two coming?”

Gordon rolled his eyes at the red engine’s enthusiasm, preferring to just take a stroll through the park with Camille. She smiled up at him and he just shrugged, giving her the reigns of the situation.

“We can always go walk around after. Might as well get it over it.” She intertwined her fingers with his.

“Fine by me. If it’ll get James to just relax and enjoy the day.” Gordon grumbled and the two made their way up and after the newly married couple.

When the two couples had managed to make it to the third floor and to the bridge, Camille and Edward were beginning to have second thoughts. The rope was thick and sturdy, but it was still a rope bridge and that meant walking on a “floor” with holes in it. James, however, was excited by the thrill of it.

“We can only go one at a time.” Edward noted, doing his best to not look down.

“You know… I’m beginning to have second thoughts.” Camille said, backing into her boyfriend, “Engine’s should keep their wheels on the ground.”

Gordon smirked and placed both hands on her shoulders, “Nervous, little tank engine?”

“Um, nope. Not nervous. Just… thinking about my health.” Camille said, looking down at the forest floor below.

James started walking across the bridge, holding onto the sides as it swung a little, “Whoa!” He turned back to Edward grinning, “C’mon sweetheart, I’ll be right here.”

Edward hesitated but placed one foot on the rope swing, “James, I don’t know about this.”

“You can hang onto my shirt if it makes you feel better.” The splendid engine smiled brightly at his husband.

Edward groaned softly and then swallowed, putting his other foot on the bridge. It wiggled a bit beneath him and he instinctively reached out and grabbed the two sides of the bridge.

“Nope! Don’t like this!”

“Well it’s too late now.” Gordon rolled his eyes and jabbed a thumb behind him, “There’s a line forming and only one way out. Get going, old iron.”

Camille frowned at her mate disapprovingly and James scowled at the express engine. However, he quickly traded that for a soft look at Edward and reached out to take his hand, “You can take my hand. I’ll let you walk in front of me and I’ll be right behind you.”

Edward smiled softly, the nerves still evident on his face, but wiggled his way in front of James and the two began the slow walk across. James stayed practically flush against Edward’s smaller frame, making him feel more comfortable.

But Edward wasn’t the only one having doubts. Camille had fumbled her way onto the bridge and was shaking like a leaf during fall. Her face had turned pale.

“Gordon if I survive this don’t ever let me talk you into coming up here again. This is one fear that I don’t want to face.”

Gordon chuckled as he was pushed across the bridge from the excited children behind him, “You’ll survive Camille. The rope is made to handle a lot of weight.”

“How do you know that?” She asked, taking another step.

“I read the sign back there while Edward and James were taking their sweet time.”

“Well, regardless, I’m never doing this again.”

Gordon chuckled and gently nudged her along, “There’s no going back now, Camille. Keep going.”

The little tank engine groaned in frustration, but seeing James and Edward make it safely to the other side, she practically skipped across the rope bridge to firm ground.

“I will never take terra firma for granted again.” She said, still shaking.

Edward laughed, his legs still shaking as well, “Me neither. Curse us for having adventurous mates.”

Camille chuckled as Gordon came to join the others, “To be fair, I think my own curiosity got the better of me this time.”

Edward chuckled and looked at James, smiling but serious, “Never again.”

James smiled brightly, “Alright, Ed, never again.”

Hello again! I recently had a thought I wanted to share with you! I was listening to my folk/new age music playlist (because I’m the kind of weirdo that has one of those) and a song called “Crimson Sky” by Heather Dale came up on shuffle. Despite the grim-sounding title, it’s actually more like a meditative mantra set to music. The lyrics are:

Shining pearl within the crimson sky, guide me in the coming night

Perfect seed within the humble husk, ground my feet in soil so I may rise

Patient leaf within the endless pool, calm me when the torrent falls

Gentle wind within the slanting grass, bear me ever on until I rest

I’ve had that song on my playlist for years, but this time I thought of your Henry and Hiro when I heard it. A mantra seems like the sort of thing that Hiro would both use himself and teach Henry for when his anxieties get the better of him, and I think the imagery in the lyrics themselves fits with Henry’s character! What do you think?

Oh my gosh that’s amazing! I hadn’t even thought of that but it TOTALLY matches Hiro’s personality and culture, and with his love for Henry he would definitely pass something along like that.

I have to be honest, as I was writing Edward and James’ wedding I thought to myself “what would a wedding between Hiro and Henry look like?” And then I started looking into what a song for them would look like, would it be a traditional wedding like James and Edward’s, or would it be a more Japanese setting due to Hiro’s heritage, or a fusion of both?

The idea of Hiro making a mantra specifically for Henry, seeing as Henry’s love language would be words of affection and affirmation, this would make him all flustered at first but would really build his character. With his struggles and, especially after this last chapter, the accident, Hiro coming up with something like that would 100% be in character.

Now I wish you weren’t a complete anon because then we could work on one 😅

What an amazing idea! I’ve got to look into this!

What would I do without you, gift anon? 🥰🥰🥰

Question for the author/admin. Since you wrote the one scene in Chapter 17 (the spicy scene) are you planning on writing anymore? Do you write NSFW? Asking for science.

Ah ha ha ha ha… I knew this question might come up. Now how to go about answering it?

So, to answer your first question, I plan on keeping The Yellow Rose of Sodor rated M because sex isn’t a key part of the series. The one scene between Gordon and Camille is probably going to be the only one and that’s because it only felt right as it was to show the progression of their relationship.

Now that being said, there will still be hints at it and more adult content as the story goes but it’ll be left up to the imagination of the reader. A great example is James and Edward’s start of their honeymoon. I gave the scenario, Edward being in the towel only and dropping said towel when he saw James all tied up and blindfolded, but the rest is up to the imagination. There will probably be more scenes like this later on but primarily between Gordon and Camille as they are the main characters.

To answer question number 2, do I write NSFW? Oh honey, I’m an adult female who’s been married for going on ten years and I write, though never published for one reason or another. Yes, I write NSFW and I have long before I rejoined this fandom. It is spicy, it is epic, it is lewd, and it’s not coming out of its file. Which, I know, is depressing to some (and a bit to me because as much as I would love to this is originally a children’s series and well, as this is the internet I don’t know who’s all reading my stuff and Heaven help the poor 13 year old who would stumble upon that file.) Maybe one day I won’t give it a second thought and maybe one day the fans will wear me down to publish something more on the W for Explicit but today is not that day nor do I believe it will happen this week, month, or the near future.

Just as my own sex life is private, so too will Camille and Gordon’s and all the other characters. Not to mention, I’d have to come up with their own individual preferences instead of just writing my own on them and that’s too much work.

HOWEVER, I know for a beautiful fact that there are some authors in this fandom that have written some E stuff that is to DIE for. You can find them on archiveofourown and enjoy that. (I certainly do.)

OK OK, confession. I did once publish a very E explicit Henry/Gordon and then within 24 hours took it down because (1) I’m not a big fan of the ship and (2) I got super anxious about it and anxiety got the better of me. This was before I published any of The Yellow Rose.

TL;DR: No I don’t plan on more full on sex scenes, yes I write NSFW, no it will not be published now, maybe it will in the future but that depends on how future me feels about it and what the fans ask for.
