Знаменитый водопад «7 сестер» украшает левый берег Гейрангер-фьорда — живописного объекта наследия ЮНЕСКО. В период таяния снегов семь мощных потоков низвергаются с отвесной скалы и закрывают горные уступы, словно струящиеся девичьи локоны. Во время сильных дождей к основным струям добавляется несколько ручейков, а зимой вода замерзает и покрывает крутой берег извилистыми ледяными лентами.

В рейтинге самых высоких водопадов Норвегии «Семь сестер» занимает 59 строчку. «Старшая» сестра низвергается в залив с 410-метровой вершины, а все 7 потоков «встречаются» на высоте 250 метров и закрывают собой участок скалы шириной 223 метра. «Семь сестер» — хоть и не самый высокий, но, несомненно, один из самых красивых водопадов Норвегии. Фотографировать водопад лучше в мае—июне — когда потоки еще полноводны.

Орхидейный богомол (лат. Hymenopus coronatus).

Орхидейный богомол – красивое и необычное насекомое, которое получило название из-за сходства с орхидеей. Лапки этого уникального хищного насекомого разложены в виде лепестков.  «Маскировка» под орхидею помогает богомолам защищаться от хищных врагов и охотиться на добычу самостоятельно и незаметно. Подвиды богомолов орхидей преимущественно имеют белые тона расцветки тела. Цвета отображаются в основном в оттенке от белого до светло-розового. В зависимости от типа и местности обитания, орхидейный богомол может менять цвет. А также его цвет зависит от того на каком этапе жизни находится богомол. Для сходства с цветами в процессе эволюции самки орхидейного богомола становились всё ярче и больше. 

Зоологами выделено до 14 видов орхидей, под которые может удачно замаскироваться богомол. Розовые орхидейные богомолы выглядят и ведут себя как цветы . Они цепляются за ветки и раскачиваются взад и вперёд, имитируя потоки ветра. Насекомых, привлечённых фальшивыми лепестками, быстро ловят и съедают.Удивительно, но самцы обладают способностью летать. Богомолы, похожие на орхидею, населяют влажные тропические леса. Страны, где их наибольшее количество – Малайзия, Индия, Тайланд, Вьетнам. Многие виды проживают на африканском континенте.

Zoologists have identified up to 14 species of orchids that a praying mantis can successfully disguise itself as. Pink orchid mantises look and act like flowers. They cling to branches and sway back and forth, imitating wind currents. Insects attracted by the false petals are quickly caught and eaten. Surprisingly, the males have the ability to fly. Orchid-like praying mantises inhabit tropical rainforests. The countries where they have the largest number are Malaysia, India, Thailand, Vietnam. Many species live on the African continent.

Вот так цветёт дикая китайская слива - Мэйхуа. Мэйхуа - самый главный поэтический символ в Китае. Слива входит и в "4 благородных", и в "три друга зимы". Её цветение приходится на конец зимы-начало весны. В Китае слива мэйхуа была вестником весны, нередко её цветение совпадало с празднованием китайского Нового года — Праздника весны 春节 чунь-цзе, который отмечается в конце января-начале февраля по лунному календарю.

Родиной мэйхуа считается район реки Янцзы, откуда она широко распространилась по всей Восточной Азии, включая Японию, Корею, Тайвань, Вьетнам. Произрастает на каменистых склонах гор на высоте от 300 до 2500 метров над уровнем моря. Мэйхуа зацветает раньше других цветов и выдерживает морозы до -50°. Жук-геркулес – необычное насекомое, которые встречается на берегах Карибского моря, на территориях Центральной Америки и южноамериканского континента. При среднем размере тела более 16 см. он считается одним из самых крупных жуков на планете. При этом размах крыльев у самцов редко бывает меньше 20 сантиметров. Самочки мельче самцов и могут достигать в длину не более 8 см. и у них нет рогов. Свое название этот жук получил благодаря известному древнегреческому герою Гераклу (по лат. Herculēs), который прославился своей невероятной силой. Жуки-геркулесы— «тяжелоатлеты» и способны переносить тяжести, в 850 раз превышающие их собственный вес.

Бражник винный, или бражник средний винный (Deilephila elpenor) — бабочка из семейства бражников (Sphingidae). Латинское название Deilephila elpenor винный бражник получил в честь героя мифологии: Эльпенор — друг Одиссея, возвращавшийся с ним из Трои; погиб, упав с крыши дворца волшебницы Цирцеи. Винный бражник отлично летает, один из самых быстрых летунов не только среди бабочек, но и среди насекомых в целом. Может развивить скорость до 60 км/ч! А во время миграции способен преодолевать расстояние в несколько тысяч километров.

Винный бражник — одна из самых крупных бабочек в мире. Размах крыльев 50—70 мм. Передние крылья оливково-зелёные, с розовым полем у внешнего края и двумя розоватыми полосами, следующими от заднего края к вершине крыла. Задние крылья розовые, с чёрным основанием. Тело зеленоватое, с розовыми полосками. Эта необычайно интересная на вид бабочка обитает в Европе, включая юг Урала. Во время опасности бражники могут начать громко и отчаянно пищать для отпугивания потенциальной угрозы. Удивительное насекомое является очень редким и охраняется на законодательном уровне.

Кассиопея Андромеда – медуза средних раз­­­меров( максимальную шир­и­ну 30 см) в процессе эв­олюции перешедшая от свободноплавающе­го (пелагического) об­ра­за жизни к прик­ре­пле­нному. Скопле­ния Кас­сиопеи Андро­меды мож­но видеть в теплых водах по всему миру, на мелково­дье, в защ­ище­нных от волн бух­тах и лагун­ах, в мелких заводях и каналах,в мангровых болотах и других подобных местообитаниях. Неискушенные наблюда­­­тели часто принима­ют этих медуз за акт­и­н­ий .

Эти красивые медузы переворачиваются кверху вниз и плывут на дно, прижимаются к нему желто-коричневый с белыми пятнами куполом и продолжают мягко пульсир­овать создавая восходя­щие токи воды. У Кас­сиопеи Андр­оме­ды ветвистые щупальца, иногда довольно яркой синей окраски, но чаще бледно-зеленые или светло-коричневые. Своими вытян­ут­ыми щупа­ль­цами медузы стараются выл­овить из потока пропускаемой через себя воды, чт­о-нибудь съедоб­ное . Кассиопея Андромеда питается – зоопланкт­­­оном, однако подоб­но другим кишечнопол­о­с­тным, в тканях они выращивают зоокса­нт­ел­л( симбиотическая водоросль), которым нео­бхо­дим солнечный св­ет. Эти водоросли поставляют свои излишки пищи медузам, которые ими питаются.

Стрекательными клетками эти медузы тоже не обделены и хоть и не сильно, но могут «ужалить» и человека. Кстати, стрекательные клетки Кассиопея выпускает в виде облачка полупрозрачной слизи, так что взбалтывать воду ластами при погружении рядом с этими медузами крайне не рекомендуется.

With their outstretched tentacles, the jellyfish try to catch something edible from the stream of water flowing through them. Cassiopeia Andromeda feeds on zooplankton, but like other coelenterates, they grow zooxanthellae (symbiotic algae) in their tissues, which need sunlight. These algae supply their surplus food to the jellyfish that feed on them.

These jellyfish are also not deprived of stinging cells, and although not much, they can "sting" a person. By the way, Cassiopeia releases stinging cells in the form of a cloud of translucent mucus, so it is highly discouraged to shake the water with flippers when diving next to these jellyfish.
