Despite there being no new SxF anime planned as of now, new collabs are still popping up, along with lovely new illustrations ❤️

Since a new artbook hasn't been announced yet, I don't know if I'll ever be able to make HD scans of these images, so wanted to share them anyway!

There's still a bunch of new posts I plan to work on, just haven't had time the past few weekends (which is mainly the only time I have to work on more time-consuming posts). But they will be ready soon enough, so stay tuned~

As I mentioned in my previous merch post, I preordered a case of the Spy x Family set from the Weiss Schwarz card game! For those who don't know what Weiss Schwarz is, it's a crossover trading card game featuring a ton of different anime, manga, and other IPs. I've been playing it on and off for nearly 15 years now and was so happy when I heard that SxF was going to get a set! The SxF cards were released in Japan in July of last year, but I held out until the English version came out a few weeks ago!

Above is all the stock my friend and I split: a display of trial decks (6 total), two meister sets (which each contain a playmat, storage box, and 10 booster packs), and finally, the main part, a case of 18 boxes (16 booster packs per box, 9 cards per pack).

So if we do the math...

-16 packs x 18 boxes x 9 cards per pack = 2,252 cards

-plus an addition 20 packs / 180 cards from the two meister sets comes to a grand total of 2,432 cards! (also the 6 trial decks, 50 cards each, but they're all the same 50 cards except for some rare variants, so thankfully we didn't have to sort those too).

So yeah, it took us practically the entire day to open all the packs and sort all the cards!

The empty booster pack wrappers ended up filling the entire box that the case came in!

The below Yor and Loid cards have the highest value out of all of them (not that I intend to sell them 😅)

I already built three decks with the cards and am in the process of testing them! (with my friends who also play) Got a deck box for each, which fit perfectly in the card box 😁

Now that I have some new Weiss Schwarz decks, I'm planning to start visiting my local game shop again for tournaments and casual play. I used to go there a lot several years back, for both Weiss Schwarz and Pokemon, but haven't been since the pandemic. I may even attend some official Bushiroad events, like Spring Fest and/or their tournament at Anime Expo.

Also, for anyone interested in Weiss Schwarz, I wrote a quick beginner guide about the game on a Google doc here - explains the basics of what the game is about (using SxF cards as examples).

According to AMC Theaters in the USA, an art board illustrated by Tatsuya Endo will be given out from 4/18 to 4/21! Haven't found an image of what it looks like yet.

I haven't seen the art either - if it's Endo's art related to the movie, I believe the only drawings he's done are the original teaser image (of the Forgers in a plane) and the cover of the movie film files booklet. But if it's just general SxF art, it could be anything! Or it could be a completely original design, but I doubt he'd make special art just for this one little giveaway in another country 😅

Regardless, I'm planning to see the movie at least twice at AMC theaters, including release day on the 18th, so hopefully I'll be able to secure an artboard!

The official SxF social media continues to treat us with more clips from the CODE: White movie! This time we got one of the coolest ones so far - part of Yor's fight against Type F!

At the beginning of the clip, Yor asks who he is. When he attacks, she asks him to please stop any further attacks. After he pushes her away, he says "Is that all you've got...intruder?"

Also, for those who haven't yet heard the news, Crunchyroll recently announced a bunch of international release dates for the movie. Even though it's still over two months away, I'm really excited to finally be able to see it for myself on April 19th when it comes to the US 😀 Of course, having already read the novelization, I know everything that happens, but that doesn't hinder my hype at all!

Spy x Family Operation Diary - original illustrations

As Anya interacts with different characters in the SxF game, you'll unlock unique cutscenes with them, as well as original anime art exclusive to the game 😄 Now that I've completed the game, I wanted to share all 20 of these illustrations, starting with my favorites...wholesome Forgers ❤️

Yes, that is the castle from episode 5 in the below picture! It's the last family outing place you can unlock in the game. The Forgers even acknowledge that they've been there before, which is a nice bit of continuity with the series (same with the Berlint aquarium).

I adore the below scene of Yor & Anya 💖 I think I've mentioned before that they're my favorite relationship in the series along with Twiyor, and they had so many cute interactions in the game~

The context of the below scene is that Loid is working late so Yor has to cook, much to Anya and Bond's dismay! Yor says that she'll start dinner once they clean up, so Anya and Bond purposely stall by making more of a mess, which gives Loid enough time to get home and do the cooking instead 😆

One of the scenes was a reenactment of the part from episode 12 where Loid and Yor pretend to go on a mission with Anya and her toys to get her to stop crying!

Also lots of scenes with poor Anya trying her best to study 😅

She doesn't fair much better at Eden, lol. At least she always has Becky for support (despite her silly crush on Loid!)

And of course, the usual squabbles with Damian.

The context of the below scene is Anya trying to tell Damian that she wants to get along with him (for the sake of Plan B). As usual, that just makes him more flustered!

Lastly, Yuri and Fiona each got one event scene each. I especially like the Fiona one, it was a nice callback to episode 21 when she first visits the Forger house.

New chapter today, and even though most of it seemed to continue the silly tone from the previous one, the last few pages actually shocked me! 👀

For the first time, ANYA CONFESSED TO SOMEONE THAT SHE CAN READ MINDS! Now this doesn't necessarily mean anything crazy will happen in the series from now on, since Damian doesn't believe her (at first). But proving that you can read minds is easy to do, so the question now becomes, will Anya keep trying to prove it to Damian until he believes her? Or will she regret it later and not try to prove it, and then the plot point isn't touched on again? Regardless, this chapter definitely makes it seem like Damian will be the first person to know about her mind-reading powers.

Then there's the question of why Anya chose to confess this to Damian? I think it's a combination of a few reasons, the main one being that Damian doesn't have any connection to her family, so little risk of him telling them and thus bringing about the fear of abandonment Anya has should they find out. This might also be why she chose to tell him over Becky, since Becky already has somewhat of a relationship with Loid and Yor. The other reason could be that, as time has gone on, she's learned to trust him, at least when it comes to something like this. As hostile as he is towards her, she knows that he's not a double-crosser or a blabbermouth, and deep down he wants to do what's right. And lastly, it was the heat of a moment - her knowledge about him seemed weird so he questioned it, and perhaps at that highlighted moment, when Damian was being genuinely nice to her (since she can read minds, she knows if he's being genuine or not), she wanted to try not lying for once, just to see what happens.

Guess we'll have to wait until next time to see if anything ground-breaking comes from this...will Anya keep pursuing this, will she regret it and let Damian continue to not believe her, or will it just not be mentioned again until later? This reminded me a bit of the Mole Hunt arc where Yuri became suspicious of Loid, but the latter was able to throw him off the track. But the seed of suspicious was planted nonetheless. In this case, even if Damian continues to think Anya was lying, a seed of suspicion may have been planted in him too that could come into play much later on. We'll see!

But besides this big event, a few other notable things in this chapter was super rare soft Damian from the above page. This continues to prove what I've always thought - that Damian acts the way he does to appear "proper" in front of his peers, but when he's alone with Anya, his real feelings seep out. She's a rare person where he doesn't feel the need to put on airs around.

We also got more Henderson x Martha crumbs. Love to see it.

Also loved to see Anya getting cocky and Loid freaking out about it 😅

Overall, even though I'm not as into Damianya as I am Twiyor, I still enjoy seeing their progress, and this chapter was definitely one of the most Damianya-chapters of all~ Despite some of the "dance with Damian" challenges being a bit too silly for my taste (like, how did Emile and Ewen organize all that last minute?) the payoff at the end was worth it! Loid and Yor better get themselves together or their daughter will end up beating them in the romance department 😂
