Dear Journal,

Dear Journal,

Today feels different. For the first time, I'm not writing on paper. I didn't have the courage to open my usual journal, the one I've been writing in since 2016. It's strange, I know, but I think I'm afraid of what I might write. This moment in my life feels so important that I don't know how to put it into words.

It's August 31st, and everything is changing for me. I'm leaving my parents' house, my city, to live somewhere else, three hours away, in a new city, to start university. I'll meet new people there, and I'm both nervous and excited. Here, I've often felt a huge pressure, like something was suffocating me. As I leave, Iā€™ve also decided to change my look: I cut my hair really short. Itā€™s a big change, and I'm not sure if I love it yet, but I'm learning to accept myself as I am.

I have a feeling this year is going to be different, special. I'm excited to meet people who will change the way I see things, who will help me push past my fears and limitsā€”the ones I've often set for myself. I want to become a better person, to give more love to those around me. Thatā€™s what really matters to me. Sometimes, I doubt myself, but I know Iā€™m brave enough to become the person I want to be: more patient, stronger, and more confident. I want to walk with my head held high, to fake confidence until it becomes real. I know that if I believe in myself, I can achieve anything I want.

I trust God to help calm my fears, and Iā€™m so grateful for everything He has given me: a loving family, a roof over my head, food to eat, and so much more. Sometimes, I forget how lucky I am. I have inner peace and a deep sense of gratitude. There are moments when I feel like I'm watching my life from the outside, like I'm living in a movie. And tonight, I realized that Iā€™m really leaving, building something new, starting from scratch. Itā€™s scary, but mostly, I feel thankful.

I know Iā€™ll succeed this year. Iā€™m ready to work hard to make my family proud. And even though Iā€™m sometimes afraid of being alone, I know Iā€™ll never really be alone. God is with me, right behind me, watching me smile and cry at the same time. I canā€™t wait to see what this new adventure holds.

xoxo, š“™.

Nature is the New Nightclub: Rediscovering Life's Dance Floor Shaina Tranquilino May 26, 2024

Nature Is The New Nightclub: Rediscovering Life's Dance FloorShaina TranquilinoMay 26, 2024

In a world where city lights and neon signs used to be the beacon of nightlife, there's a quiet revolution happening. People are swapping crowded dance floors for expansive landscapes, thumping beats for bird songs, and artificial cocktails for the pure elixir of fresh air. Welcome to the age where nature is the new nightclub.

Gone are the days when the allure of the night was confined to dimly lit clubs and flashy bars. Today, a growing number of urbanites are finding solace, excitement, and connection in the great outdoors. It's not just about escaping the concrete jungle; it's about rediscovering our primal connection to the world around us.

Picture this: instead of queuing outside a club, you're hiking up a misty trail, anticipation building with each step as you approach the summit. The air is crisp, the stars are your disco lights, and the only soundtrack you need is the rustle of leaves and the occasional hoot of an owl. This is nature's dance floor, where every tree becomes a pillar and every clearing a stage.

But it's not just about solitary adventures. Nature is the ultimate social scene, where strangers become friends and shared experiences forge bonds stronger than any cocktail-induced camaraderie. Whether it's a group camping trip under the canopy of stars or a sunrise yoga session on a secluded beach, nature brings people together in ways that no nightclub ever could.

Let's not forget the VIP treatment that nature offers. No velvet ropes or bouncers here; just open trails and endless possibilities. Want a front-row seat to a breathtaking sunset? Nature's got you covered. Craving a thrilling adrenaline rush? Strap on a harness and take on that rock face. The best part? There's no cover charge, no dress code, and no last call.

But perhaps the most compelling aspect of nature's new reign as the ultimate nightlife destination is its ability to rejuvenate the soul. In a world where stress and screens dominate our daily lives, nature offers a sanctuaryā€”a place to unplug, unwind, and reconnect with what truly matters. It's where we find perspective, inspiration, and a sense of belonging in something much bigger than ourselves.

So the next time you find yourself craving a night out, consider trading in your dancing shoes for hiking boots, your cocktail for a canteen, and your neon lights for a starlit sky. In the grand dance of life, nature is the ultimate partyā€”and everyone's invited.

Hidden Treasure Shaina Tranquilino August 31, 2024

Hidden TreasureShaina TranquilinoAugust 31, 2024

Denise had always been fascinated by history. As a child, she would spend hours listening to her grandfather, a retired historian, tell tales of ancient civilizations and lost treasures. When he passed away, Denise inherited his old house, a creaky, ivy-covered relic that had seen better days. As she began the daunting task of sorting through his belongings, she found herself drawn to the attic, a place she had rarely visited.

The attic was a labyrinth of dusty trunks, old furniture, and forgotten memories. Among the clutter, a small, ornate chest caught her eye. It was tucked away in a corner, almost hidden beneath a pile of old blankets. Curious, Denise pried open the rusted lock. Inside, she found an array of old papers, yellowed with age. But what captured her attention was a rolled-up piece of parchment, tied with a faded red ribbon.

Her heart raced as she carefully unrolled the parchment. It was a map, hand-drawn and filled with cryptic symbols. At the bottom, in her grandfatherā€™s familiar handwriting, were the words: ā€œThe Lost Treasure of Elvenwood ā€“ Seek, and ye shall find.ā€

Denise could hardly believe what she was seeing. She had heard her grandfather speak of Elvenwood, a legendary treasure hidden deep in the forest. But she had always thought it was just a story. Now, holding the map in her hands, she realized it might be something more.

Without hesitation, Denise decided to follow the map. She packed a small bag with essentials, donned her hiking boots, and set off towards the forest, her heart pounding with excitement and a hint of fear.

The journey through Elvenwood was challenging. The forest was dense, with towering trees that blocked out most of the sunlight. The map led her through winding paths, across streams, and up steep hills. Along the way, she encountered strange symbols carved into the trees, just like the ones on the map. Each time she found one, it confirmed she was on the right track.

After several days of trekking, Denise reached a clearing. At its centre stood a large, ancient oak tree, its bark gnarled and twisted with age. According to the map, this was the final destination. She circled the tree, searching for any clues. Her fingers brushed against a small indentation in the bark, and she pushed. A hidden compartment slid open, revealing a small wooden box.

With trembling hands, Denise opened the box. Inside was a single, gleaming key and a note in her grandfatherā€™s handwriting: ā€œThe treasure is not what you seek, but what you find within yourself. Use the key to unlock the door to your heartā€™s desire.ā€

Confused, Denise sat beneath the old oak tree, pondering her grandfatherā€™s words. She had expected gold or jewels, but instead, she found something far more valuable: the realization that the true treasure was the adventure itself. The journey had rekindled her passion for history, filled her with a sense of purpose, and helped her reconnect with the man who had inspired her love of the past.

With a smile, she pocketed the key. It was not meant to unlock a chest of riches, but the future she now saw clearly. Denise knew that her life had changed forever. She would carry on her grandfatherā€™s legacy, uncovering the stories of the past and sharing them with the world.

And in that moment, she knew she had found the real treasure.
