Dear Journal,
Today feels different. For the first time, I'm not writing on paper. I didn't have the courage to open my usual journal, the one I've been writing in since 2016. It's strange, I know, but I think I'm afraid of what I might write. This moment in my life feels so important that I don't know how to put it into words.
It's August 31st, and everything is changing for me. I'm leaving my parents' house, my city, to live somewhere else, three hours away, in a new city, to start university. I'll meet new people there, and I'm both nervous and excited. Here, I've often felt a huge pressure, like something was suffocating me. As I leave, I’ve also decided to change my look: I cut my hair really short. It’s a big change, and I'm not sure if I love it yet, but I'm learning to accept myself as I am.
I have a feeling this year is going to be different, special. I'm excited to meet people who will change the way I see things, who will help me push past my fears and limits—the ones I've often set for myself. I want to become a better person, to give more love to those around me. That’s what really matters to me. Sometimes, I doubt myself, but I know I’m brave enough to become the person I want to be: more patient, stronger, and more confident. I want to walk with my head held high, to fake confidence until it becomes real. I know that if I believe in myself, I can achieve anything I want.
I trust God to help calm my fears, and I’m so grateful for everything He has given me: a loving family, a roof over my head, food to eat, and so much more. Sometimes, I forget how lucky I am. I have inner peace and a deep sense of gratitude. There are moments when I feel like I'm watching my life from the outside, like I'm living in a movie. And tonight, I realized that I’m really leaving, building something new, starting from scratch. It’s scary, but mostly, I feel thankful.
I know I’ll succeed this year. I’m ready to work hard to make my family proud. And even though I’m sometimes afraid of being alone, I know I’ll never really be alone. God is with me, right behind me, watching me smile and cry at the same time. I can’t wait to see what this new adventure holds.
xoxo, 𝓙.
New School Day Adventure Shaina Tranquilino August 27, 2024
The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a soft, golden glow over the sleepy town as Annabelle stood in front of her new school. The building loomed large and unfamiliar, its red brick walls and tall windows holding the promise of the unknown. Her heart fluttered with a mix of nerves and excitement, the kind that comes with any fresh start. This was her first day at Oakwood High, and everything felt different from her old life in the city. The sounds of birds chirping and the distant hum of cars were a far cry from the bustling noise she was used to. Annabelle adjusted the straps of her backpack, took a deep breath, and stepped forward, her shoes crunching on the gravel path leading to the entrance.
Inside, the hallways were a maze of new faces and unfamiliar classrooms. Students clustered together in groups, laughing and chatting, while Annabelle felt like an outsider looking in. She gripped the map of the school tightly, scanning it for room 207—her homeroom.
As she walked, she caught snippets of conversations and caught glimpses of students decorating their lockers, slipping into their familiar roles and friendships. It felt as though everyone already belonged, except for her.
When she finally found room 207, the bell had just rung. She hesitated for a moment outside the door, then pushed it open. The classroom was filled with chatter, but it quieted as the teacher, a kind-looking woman with short, curly hair, welcomed everyone. Annabelle slipped into an empty seat at the back, trying to make herself as inconspicuous as possible.
"Welcome to a new year, everyone," the teacher began. "My name is Mrs. Hart, and I'm excited to get to know all of you. I know that starting a new school year can be nerve-wracking, especially if you're new here. But remember, this is a fresh start for all of us."
Annabelle felt a small sense of relief at Mrs. Hart's words. A fresh start. That's what she needed. She glanced around the room and noticed a girl with dark hair sitting next to her, doodling in the margins of her notebook. The girl looked up and caught Annabelle's eye, giving her a friendly smile.
"Hi, I'm Kelly," she whispered as Mrs. Hart continued talking.
"Annabelle," she replied, smiling back.
"First day here too?"
Annabelle nodded, feeling a little less alone.
As the day went on, Annabelle began to relax. In each class, she found herself speaking up more, asking questions, and even making a few more friends. She discovered that the other students were just as nervous as she was, and they were all looking for a place to belong.
By lunchtime, she and Kelly had found a group to sit with, and the laughter that filled the cafeteria was infectious. Annabelle realized that Oakwood High wasn't as intimidating as it had seemed that morning. The new beginning she had feared was actually full of possibilities, of friendships waiting to be made and stories yet to be written.
As the final bell rang, signaling the end of the first day, Annabelle walked out of the school with a lightness in her step. The golden light of the setting sun warmed her face, and she smiled to herself. She had taken the first step into her new life, and it felt like the beginning of something wonderful.

Prologue
Time has passed since your last breakup.. Approximately 5 months since you've last talked to ______. (Evan/Stella)
❝Gosh, it's been quite some time since I've talked to him/her. Ever since, I haven't felt the same, especially since the breakup was during the time I've lost my mother in a car accident.❞
Tears stream down your face, bringing up memories of your past of how much happier you lived with your mother’s presence, and your ex while you two were in good terms. You always knew you can talk to your mother about anything, and she would always be there by your side to comfort you.
You hear your heart palpitating in terror…remembering each moment of when your dad called talking about the tragic event the day the accident occurred. Frustrated, you toss and turn on your bed whilst shedding tears profusely all at once in a burst.
The horrific images flashing around your mind seem to fade away and turn to dust once your phone rings. !!! Bzzz !!!

Melody: ❝Aw, don’t be so hard on yourself. Evan was such a jerk to you anyways. I’ve always known he was a dick. I know one when I see it. Feel better, ______ (Rose)! It’s about time you forget about him! Also, you know I don't have a mother either. It’s been hard for me too, ______ (Rose), but I managed to survive. You: *sniff sniff* ❝You’re right. Sorry, I guess I am wasting my time over something stupid. Plus you’re also right on the part of my mom. She was so caring. I miss her so much. You open the door to find out Melody brought tons of chick flicks and comedies that'll last you a lifetime from your assumption.
❝Man, that's a lot you got there.. I didn't need that much to distract myself from my miserable life.❞
Melody: ❝Hey, these movies will relieve you from all your stress! Besides, you didn’t want to go out so let’s just relax with some sweet movies I got!❞

Melody: ❝Woah, that was too much in one sitting!❞
You: ❝Agreed.❞

Melody leaves.
❝Oh crap, I forgot it's already Sunday. Who even likes Monday's? Or even school? Ugh.❞
You get ready for bed, with your eased-up red, puffy eyes from all the sobbing from earlier.
