Never thought I'd draw these two again!

If you aren't aware I made art of what I feel Mckrakens parents might look like/be, since I'm starting to get back into yokai watch I thought I might as well redo these twos first picture! Since I honestly didn't like how they looked after these years >>;; Gonna just put their old info here sinc they haven't changed -->

Marina is Squisker's younger sister, the do similarities show. She has a relaxed and calm demeanor but will become passionate about something if she takes great interest in said thing/event. Marina was always with her older brother growing up, both acting similar to best friends in ways.

Octavious's name comes from his "oblivious" nature, when in reality he actually is very observant. He too is very calm and relaxed but will jump into action when needed. His side of the family have feline genes due to his great grandfather being a bakéneko, this also explains his and Mckrakens cat like actions (and his folded ears).

I also decided to go into more of their lives since I never did so back then. Octavious's family is actually a long line of farmers believe it or not! While Marinas upbringing was rather lavish, Octavious had more humble beginnings. Shown here is Octavious starting to show young Mckraken the ropes of farming and planting crops, as well as Marina teaching him how to use kitchen tools, these come into play as Mckraken gets older since he is very skilled with cooking and such :3

Grarming for a Farming

Agriculture and it’s produce play an important role in many settled societies, the basis upon which a population is fed. However it’s never easy work out there in the rolling fields, long days of manual labor demand much of a people, made all the more strenuous in times of famine or shortages. Even with all the months of toil, to manage a plot of land, to divvy up the better soils, to remove pests and vermin, all can be made worthless from blight.

Who is to say that this labor will be compensated? Many families posses small brush to which they must subsist, many still in more centralized areas giving into the hands of the more fortunate. To tend to the land which is owned not by those who tend. Be the higher castes in a hill manor, hulled up between the farmland and town or perhaps ever more distant, the reward for sustaining the harvest is often meager housing and a share of that which they have provided.

In times of want, what is a man of stature and status to do? Are they held to the obligation to sustain those who tend their lands, their labor being an integral component in their future prosperity, in the guise of appreciation? No matter the respective solutions of those in power, for the aching of poor empty stomachs and the prayers of the starving masses all too often have ways of making their woes known.
