Beetlejuice (1988) Dir: Tim Burton
Well, I've read through that handbook for the recently deceased. It says: 'live people ignore the strange and unusual. I, myself, am strange and unusual.

Halyna Hutchins was shot and killed yesterday with a misfire from a prop gun by Alec Baldwin (who, yes, is dealing with the unbearable weight of having accidentally taken a life). I don't understand why real guns are still used as props. Brandon Lee, perhaps the most infamous death from a prop gun misfire, died in 1993. It should only take one time to make drastic changes.
No, I don't know anything about filmmaking and what the technicalities are but if the gun can shoot real bullets, it's not a prop. If the bullets can cause death, they're not props.
My minimal understanding is that the guns are real but the bullets are supposed to be blanks.
The director of the film, Joel Souza, was also injured but I believe he is expected to recover.

RISE OF THE GUARDIANS (Dir: Peter Ramsey, 2012).
What would get if you crossed Marvel’s Avengers with a 1970s Rankin/Bass holiday special? Probably something not too dissimilar to DreamWorks Animation’s Rise of the Guardians as Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Toothfairy, the Sandman and new recruit Jack Frost assemble Avengers-style to defeat evil Pitch Black, aka The Boogeyman, as he attempts to take over the world by filling children’s heads with nightmares and suppressing their belief in the ‘Guardians’, threatening the imminent Easter celebrations to boot.
Director Peter Ramsey’s movie is action adventure on an epic scale rarely seen in animation. The glib humour and pop culture references that often mired DreamWorks’ early features is thankfully absent here. Certainly there is humour, yet there is also pathos, as when Jack learns of his forgotten past and why he was chosen as a Guardian.
With genuinely exciting action set pieces and excellent voice work from a star studded line up including Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman, Isla Fisher and Jude Law, it is difficult to see how Rise of the Guardians could fail at the box office. But fail it did. Much to the detriment of cinema audiences who possibly found the Christmas/Easter mash-up aspect unappealing. Perhaps its winter release date was also misjudged, although it is certainly the most Christmassy of Easter movies.
While perhaps not quite in the same league as their ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ and ‘Kung Fu Panda’ franchises, Rise of the Guardians is still one of DreamWorks’s best movies to date. Its visuals are often breathtaking and its nod to vintage Rankin/Bass shows, where Santa is as likely to crop up in an Easter or a Groundhog Day special as he is a Christmas one, gives it a nice nostalgic feel befitting of a movie which deals with childhood and tradition. While this movie was designed as a franchise opener, Rise of the Guardians was destined to remain a one off. As a stand-alone feature film it is an often exciting, warm-hearted treat and is highly recommend viewing at Easter, Christmas or any other time of year.

THE BOSS BABY (Dir: Tom McGrath, 2017).
From DreamWorks Animation, The Boss Baby is loosely based on the picture book by Marla Frazee. Theodore Templeton (Alec Baldwin) is the Boss Baby, a suit and tie wearing, briefcase carrying infant. With his brother Tim, they must infiltrate their parents employer Puppy Co., the CEO of which has an evil plan to replace the babies of the world with puppies.

In the wake of the Alec Baldwin trial dismissal, we should all be asking ourselves why the prosecutors felt so empowered to brazenly doctor the case. From what I can tell, they…
…tried to add a charge that didn’t exist when the incident occurred.
…beat key evidence—the gun involved in the incident itself—to pieces with a hammer before the defense could examine it, reconstructed it, and went “trust us bro, it works exactly the same as when we got it.”
…hid live rounds taken from the movie set under a different case file, labeled as documents instead of physical evidence, and went “yeahhhhh but those aren’t relevant” only to have the judge look at them with her own eyes and determine the rounds were a dead ringer for the one that killed the victim.
If law enforcement felt confident enough to pull this in a high profile case in the national news, against a rich white actor with a household name, I can only imagine how many times that corruption has flown under the radar against those without the resources to defend themselves against it.
If you’re watching an 80s sci-fi/horror movie and one of the main characters looks like this

You know you’re in for a TREAT
I just accidentally drew Egon Spengler, Seymour Krelborn, Brad Majors, Adam Maitland, and Herbert West all in one picture
