Beetlejuice is a very interesting franchise. If you go by its main parts, then these are two films (1988 and 2024), an animated series from the nineties, and a musical. I at least touched all three components, and the view of different people on the same characters is quite funny (to be precise, on Beetlejuice and Lydia). The first film, not to mention the very idea of ghost and teenage girl getting married, contained a deleted part of the script, which indicated that BJ's interest in Lydia isn't only platonic. I haven't watched the second film at all, although I plan to go to the cinema at least for the sake of the idea of sequel with Lydia's daughter, played by Jenna Ortega. I started watching the animated series, and the situation is literally the opposite. BJ is Lydia's best friend, and they are very protective of each other. The animation there is also charming. The musical attracted me to the actors, because they are cute. Also a great performance of "Say My Name". But here the theme of love for life is raised much more, and it's definitely possible to work with it. Yes, I want to get to the pairing one day.
