You were sat at your vanity in your room at the institute taking your hair out of its style after going out with Isabelle for your birthday. You were brushing your hair when you heard a knock at your door.

“Come in!” You yelled to whoever was at the door across the room.

The door opened and you looked at your mirror to see who came in. It was Jace. He gently closed your door and made eye contact with your reflection.

“Jace, what are you doing here?” You turned around.

“I wanted to give my wonderful girlfriend her birthday present without everyone around.”

He strode over to where you sat.

“Jace, you know you didn’t have to get me anything.”

“Of course I did, darling. It’s your birthday.”

Your heart melted at his nickname for you. He pulled a small box out of his pocket and handed it to you. A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips. You opened the box to see a silver heart shaped locket. You opened it up and there was a picture of you, Jace, Izzy, Alec, and Clary in it on one side and on the other there was a picture of just you and Jace. Your eyes softened at the pictures and you looked back up at Jace.

“Jace, I love it.” You breathed out.

“Look at the back of it.”

You furrowed your eyebrows but didn’t question it as you flipped the heart to see something engraved in cursive on the back.

The Latin phrase he always said to you. You looked back up to Jace who was looking at you with a smile.

“Here let me put it on you.” He offered.

You handed him the box and he took the necklace out. You turned back around and looked in the mirror, grabbing your hair out of the way. Jace unclasped the necklace and put it around your neck. As he closed it his fingers brushed against the back of your neck causing butterflies in your stomach. Once he finished, his hands slid to your shoulders. You reached up and held the necklace before turning back to him. Your eyes met once again. Your eyes flicked towards his lips. He must have been thinking the same thing because leaned down and kissed you on your lips.

“I love you, happy birthday darling.”

It was Halloween night, a popular time to dress up and go to mundane clubs. You, Clary, and Izzy were getting ready in Izzy’s room. The three of you were going as the Powerpuff girls: Clary as Blossom, Izzy as Bubbles, and you as Buttercup. The three of you were wearing similar outfits but in your respective colours. You had a green top and green skirt paired with a black belt, fishnets and boots. You looked over at Izzy who was just finishing her final touches on her makeup.

“Jace is going to freak out seeing you in that, especially the tights.” Izzy looked you up and down.

You laughed at her comment but blushed at the thought of Jace seeing you.

“Alright let’s get this show on the road.” Clary walked out of the bathroom.

The three of you grabbed your bags and headed to the elevator that would lead you to the lobby where Jace and Alec would be waiting. Church the cat led the way to the elevator. Izzy had put a tiny pumpkin hat on his head for the holiday which he wasn’t mad about. You excitedly moved in the elevator wanting to see what Jace had dressed up as. The doors opened and the three of you walked out. Jace and Alec turned around to greet you. Both you and Jace stopped and looked at each other, eyes raking up and down. He had his hair messily slicked back, skull makeup, a black button down shirt with the first few buttons undone, and black dress pants. Alec was wearing the same thing as his parabatai, obviously. You walked over to Jace and he grabbed you by your waist and pulled you closer to him.

“You look so hot right now, darling.” He whispered to you.

“Says you, you look really fucking hot right now.”

He looked you up and down again.

“I would say let's skip the club, but our friends look eager.”

Izzy grabbed your arm pulling you away from Jace.

“Stop flirting and let's go.”

The Pandemonium was hot and sweaty. It was more packed than usual, filled with people dressed up for Halloween. You, Izzy, and Clary were squished together dancing amongst people. You had almost been there for 2 hours now. You felt someone tap your shoulder. You turned around to be met with Jace. His makeup was still going strong even though he was sweating. You couldn’t help but look at the small amount of skin that his shirt exposed. He grabbed your wrist and the two of you made your way to the back door leading to the alley. No one was out there to your surprise. Your back was now pressed up against the brick wall as Jace slid his hands to your waist. His lips met with yours. It wasn’t uncommon for a night out to end with you and Jace disappearing somewhere and making out. Your friends knew and figured, considering you were dating, but no one cared. One of Jace’s hands slid down from your waist and to your thigh. His hand snaked under your skirt and settled on your thigh. One of your hands was tangled through his hair that was now no longer slicked back. The two of you pulled apart for air, your chests hitting each other with each breath.

“I say we ditch this place and head back.” He smirked.

“I agree.”

My friend who ships Izzy and Magnus: Izzy and Magnus should have ended up together because as we know that on the back of the Lightwood necklace, there is a love phrase that Magnus has engraved and that now Isabelle wears it it would have been a nice parallel that the person wearing the necklace now is Magnus' true love

Me in my head creating a headcanon where Izzy gives Alec the necklace and he wears it every day or Magnus turns the necklace into a bracelet and Alec wears it all the time:

Can someone explain to me why I am debating with a person at 12:30 a.m. on the Lightwood family tree because of Christopher's death which made it illogical because as it is written in the tree that Isidore must have been born in 1908 and that Alexander was 8 years old at that time (and the Lightwoods of our time cannot be descendants of Anna and Ariadne because Alec looks like Will and must therefore be a biological descendant of Cecily)

BUT YES !!! I like the series but it must be said the books are a thousand times better with their little details that weren't there in the series.

You have to read the books before watching the series, plus the series seems like it was created for book readers as it didn't really explain the universe in season 1 for a person who hasn't not read the books there will be incomprehension (ex: when Magnus tells Camille that he cannot have children (which is never explained or discussed in the series)) in addition to the choice of the series adapts lots of things from the 6 books in an impossible mess which for me was bullshit because there are lots of things which become inconsistency in the series

but the worst is that the series also took away lots of things like Heosphoros that I wanted to see or the character of Lily Chen or even small physical details that are important like Alec's blue eyes or that we rarely see Magnus' cat eyes even when he loses his powers we don't see them see not. Now that I'm starting to read the books I'm so sad when I read a Malec fanfic that takes the example of the series with the physical appearance of the actors and the fact that when the Malec couple in the fanfic have children none of them have the first name of Max or Rafael 😭😭😭

you dont know that they didnt get married for years until alec became consul and they could get married in warlock blue and shadowhunter gold under his new law

you dont know they have two kids, before they ever married

you dont know their first son is named after alec’s brother max, who actually died during the war

you dont know that max’s skin is blue, and his eyes are just a shade darker than alec’s

you dont know that alec loved one man so much he changed the world for him
