Anytime I see a post about someone hating a ship for whatever reason, I just block them.
The ships are going to exist regardless if you hate them or not. Don't waste your breath on them.
I honestly used to be that way with a few ships and being in fandom became less and less fun. Just focus on what you like.
**There's honestly one set of ships I refuse to respect in terms of concept, and it's those ships with Gozaburo from YuGiOh in them. I can not, in good faith, respect those ships at all.**
Suddenly struck with a need to explain to you how boat pronouns work (I work in the marine industry).
When you're talking about the design of the boat, you say "it".
When the boat is still being built, your say "it".
When the boat is nearing completion, you can say "it" or "she".
When the boat is floating in the water you probably say "she", unless there is still a lot of work to be done (e.g. no engine yet) then you say "it".
When the boat is officially launched and operating, you say "she". If you continue to say "it" at this point you are not incorrect but suspiciously untraditional. You are not playing the game.
If you are referring to a boat you don't really know anything about you may say "it" ("there's a big boat, it's coming this way"). But if you know its name, it's probably "she" ("there's the Waverley, she's on her way to Greenock").
If you are talking about boats in general, you say "it" ("when a boat is hit by a wave it heels over")
If you speak about a boat in complimentary terms, it's "she" ("she's a grand boat"). If you are being disparaging it may be it, but not necessarily ("it's as ugly as sin", "she's a grotty old tub").
If she has a boy's name, she's still she. "Boy James", "King Edward", "Sir David Attenborough"? The pronoun is she.
If it's a dumb barge (no engine), you say it. But if it's a rowing boat (no engine), you say she.
I hope this has cleared things up so that you may not be in danger of misgendering floating objects.
You know, all of this hate or condensing attitude disguised over how people 'see abuse in media' over ascendant astarion is actually boiled down to "I don't like him and I don't want to see his content, so no one should have fun or do anything with him."
"I don't like this thing, so I don't want it to exist, regardless of other people decision and feeling about it." Which is the core of shipping discourse as well. People just adding fluff/moral discussion to the discussion because without moral soapbox no one will care

I really hate proshipper v anti discourse, not because I'm like, a centrist on the matter, but because "anti" is a term I've never actually seen someone self identify with and seems to be just a general conglomerate strawman of every argument and opinion a proshipper could disagree with, and "proshipper" covers everything from "making suggestive comments about a character who's age is so ambigious/irrelevant you'd have to google it to know they're a minor" to "drawing snuff porn of feral animals", which means that identifying as a proshipper either means you're comfortable writing/drawing the zoophilia porn, or you're comfortable using the same labels and arguments as the people who do.

i’m gay but i’m always gonna choose the well developed straight ship over the 2 bland and incompatible white dudes that have 500,000 fanfics written about them. you guys just hate women.
Shipping does not hurt ANYONE and you should never publicly call someone out just because you have whatever reason to dislike their ship. I don't care if you block people and tags, but having a knee-jerk reaction to seeing a ship does NOT validate being a little bitch to someone who's just reblogging a post as usual. Even if it's nasty; that kind of behavior gives the impression that you are more closed-minded than you present yourself as being. Block when you have to, but ship and let ship.
personally, I think people are allowed to ship a “toxic ship” as long as it’s fictional and they can separate fiction from reality. shipping a fictional “problematic ship” doesn’t mean you’re “abuse apologist” in real life. the same way people who enjoy fictional villains are not “murderers” in real life.
it’s okay if you think this ship makes you uncomfortable and so you personally dislike it. what you can and should do is avoid their contents and refrain from interacting with people who do ship them. that mute and block buttons are your friends.
what you shouldn’t do, though, is harass people who ship them and brag about how they’re “red flags irl” and how you’re “morally superior” simply because of fictional characters.
I promise you, minding your own business and not caring about what ship strangers on the internet ship will make your fandom so much less toxic and a whole lot more enjoyable.
idk when this happened but at some point people arbitrarily decided that shipping no longer means “i find this relationship interesting and want to portray it” and instead decided it meant “i think that these two characters have the ideal romantic relationship and are perfect for each other” and that’s where we went wrong
i think that’s why there’s so many arguments about “glorifying” abuse or whatever because the arguments are coming from people whose only conception of shipping is making them be lovey dovey coffee shop au.
i think we need to go back to when people would draw characters together and be like “here’s my favorite ship i think they should get a restraining order on each other and never speak again” and everyone understood what you meant
Is anyone gonna explain to people that ‘proship’ does not actually mean ‘problematic shipping’ or ‘problematic ship’ or are we just going to let this misinformation spread some more?
It means pro-shipping. The prefix pro, meaning ‘supporting.’ In favor of shipping.
It only became a defined position after anti-shippers who initially identified themselves as anti-a specific ship started harassing creators they didn’t like, doxxing them, and trying to get them fired from their irl jobs for shipping reasons around 2014-2016.
So people who had been in fandom for long enough to know where that kind of rhetoric leads (ffnet purges, LJ strikethru, as well as the direct harms caused by doxxing) observed this increasing trend of harassment and rallied to say ‘oh you lot are anti-shipping, as in opposed to certain ships? Well in that case, we are pro-shipping, because we follow the adage of ship and let ship.’
Before that point, it was just basic fandom etiquette to not bother people who ship stuff you don’t like, and to understand that if something squicks you out, it’s not the fault of the people who made it.
If someone says they are pro-ship, it means fuck all about what they actually enjoy in fiction.
It just means they’re opposed to harassing creators for making content that doesn’t cause tangible harm to real people. A better way to understand the ideological position is being anti-harassment and anti-censorship.
I have a lot of ships I find disgusting blacklisted so I don’t have to see them. But I am not interested in forcing people to comply with what I think is gross. That’s what it means.
Curate your online experience, and understand that your disgust response is not a defensible moral indicator or a justification to harass, deplatform, and dox fan writers.
Poor Henry Creel; the man's being pulled like the rope in a game of tug-of-war. Gay Henry bloggers vs straight/ambiguous sexuality Henry bloggers, and what do we get? Bitching and jumping to conclusions. If you're going to preach that your non-canon ship has nuance and is valid, then you don't get to have a knee-jerk reaction to OUR non-canon ship, especially not without considering the nuance in how we ship them(you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about). A lot of you call yourselves proship, but after recent debacles, it's not a label you deserve.

Ever since discovering the gods gift that is toast, I like to have toast for breakfast every morning. There are dozens of great ways to have toast (butter, cream cheese, bruschetta, avocado, etc.) but it wouldn’t be my favorite if it wasn’t toast. I can eat it by itself and still enjoy it.
If I have time, I’ll cook a fresh batch or warm up some sausage or bacon to go with. Share little pieces of it with my pets. A nice treat for myself and others that I can’t always indulge in, but am not disheartened if I don’t get to.
Now, i’ve recently discovered how well toast pairs up with fruit. Keep in mind, I am very much a fruit lover, but until recently I hadn’t thought to have some with breakfast. Having toast and some fruit (like a banana or orange or apple or peach or mango or-) feels is my ultimate breakfast. You can have so many combinations of toast and fruit depending on how you prepare them, and when it’s thoughtfully done my day feels so much brighter and healthier for it. A multiplier for the day’s good will.
Now, if i forget to restock fruit, i feel its absence. Almost mourn it. But I know i can always get it later, and I haven’t forgotten what makes me like fruit with toast so much just because it’s not right in front of me this very second.
Figuring out my ideal breakfast was unplanned, but I’m happy I did. My life feels richer for it, even if it’s just this one little thing. And that’s enough. :)
On Fandom Behavior
I’m steaming mad at the moment over some bullshit, so I’m going to make something absolutely clear here.
If you harass, demean or spread rumors about people due to shipping or other fandom drama, my content is NOT for you! I’m not on your side!
A dear friend of mine was dealing with a creepy misogynist who left graphic gore comments on her fics and harassed her (keeping vague to not incur further harassment on her). This creep then sends asks falsely accusing her of various things to multiple “fandom police” type blogs, and without even a moment’s hesitation they posted baseless, false claims about someone dealing with harassment. Not one ounce of critical thinking, just spreading rumors from an anonymous ask anyone could have sent. And now a group of weaselly assholes are taking fragments of writing out of context to mock her on top of everything else.
I could honestly care less about the morality of fictional characters kissing, but I care deeply about the rampant harassment and purity policing I’ve seen rotting fandoms from the inside out. This is hurting real people, and enabling some real monsters that will do far more harm than the words on your screen. Just know that if you participate in this callout bullshit and petty drama I personally dislike you and prefer if you just stay away. I also will not post any callout posts sent to me so don’t bother, I’m not going to join a telephone game featuring someone’s reputation.
Log the fuck off and re-evaluate your goddamn existence if you think sending threats or slandering someone is acceptable over fiction.

Okay so I’m going to assume you’re referring to my Killer Frequency headcanons because I’m a KF blog so here goes

My headcanon couples range from practically canon to lmao what if.
The first couple is Marie and George. Yes, they’re canon, but lemme explain my headcanons for their dynamic. So basically they were originally the jock x nerd stereotype, but instead of Marie being that quiet geeky stereotype, Marie was excitable, energetic and peppy. George was quite shy around most other people except for people he knew, and really came out of his shell around her (and also around Jason whom he knew well). She was big into theater and suggested he try out for the play and he did and he found out he loved it so they just became a pair of little geeks in love doing everything together and not caring what other people were doing. But he still loved sports obviously and we all know how that ended up.
Next down is Leslie x Sara (the Deputy). Y’all you cannot tell me they do not have a thing. The way Leslie got flustered when she got caught calling Sara by her first name—— aaaaaaaaa. Ok so I think their dynamic would be like they’d both try to act super cool and professional but would just end up flirting constantly at work like a bunch of idiots lol. They’d each try to impress the other and they’d find it super cute.
Further down in the lmao what if category we’ve got Forrest and Sandra. This is only here because I thought the scene of Forrest aggressively trying to slide into Sandra’s DMs was HILARIOUS and they’re both older and I think they deserve each other lmao. Their dynamic would be like Forrest is the black cat and Sandra is the golden retriever. She needs someone to chill her out and he needs someone to put some fun in his life that’s NOT just sarcastically quipping at everything lol.
Next down is Eugene and Carrie. I don’t really have much evidence for this except for the fact that they both got hunted and maybe could like bond over their experiences lol. Idk I just think Eugene deserves a nice girl who will give him the time of day, and Carrie deserves a nice boy who won’t prank her (or go along with said prank) and will treat her RIGHT.
Other than that uhhhh maybe like Peggy and Ricky??? Maybe??? I don’t really see much of a romance there but like at least platonically they’d DEFINITELY be buddies. Also the age gap is a little big but also they’re both well into adulthood and it’s not CRAZY big like Forrest and Peggy would be and also there’s no power imbalance cuz they’re both kinda doing their own thing. Idk. Would Max like a step mom?
