After several attempts and recovering my old Animal Jam account from 2012 and stalking jamblr for like a week I have made an Animal Jam Oc with incredibly detailed lore and fleshed out personality and backstory

NOW IF ONLY I COULD DRAW/ANIMATE THEN I COULD PROBABLY SHOW THEM OFF BUT NO I CANT GODDAMMIT

So I've been playing Animal Jam a lot lately (yk nostalgia and all) and I thought it would be fun to make a masterpiece becuase I have contractual obligations to draw once a week anyways.

Considering how freaking difficult it is to work with the Animal Jam painting tool im actually pretty proud of this. The restrictions of the software make it annoying, but in a way fun to find work arounds and compromises. It runs kinda like MS paint I like it a lot :)

Read the text that’s marked with red lines at the bottom, wwadmin mentions about how Tag With Ryan basically “inherits the DNA” of Dash Tag was meant to be, noticed.

I sometimes wondered if this is the “sole reason” for why AJ couldn’t go mainstream like those series mentioned in the post.

IMO, AJ stood out to me, not because it had a trading system (it wouldn’t make them unique anyway since Neopets has a trading system too) but because of the avatar switching (Neopets has something like this, switching between pets, but the limiting amount of slots makes it different to what AJ’s switching animals have.)

What stood out to me the most for the AJ series in general is that it wasn’t playing only one species of animal. Example: playing as a penguin in Club Penguin and playing as a panda in Panfu, though that’s cause’ of both games focus around those two specific species, as the games themselves were never meant to involve other animal species as playable avatars. Club Penguin is kind of an exception, but those transformations, such as the dinosaurs, were only temporarily, not like something you keep for a long time and can freely switch between it and penguin.

And the second thing that stood out to me the most of the AJ series in general, is that you weren’t playing a fictitious creature that is either modeled off a real creature, be that of a dog, cat, mouse, bird etc. Though I know Webkinz lets you play/raise a non-fictional creature, but there’s also mythical creatures among them, like a dragon or a unicorn. Though this is mostly because AJ is meant to be educational, even though they’ve introduced some fictional creatures as pets the Pet Flying Pig in Classic and the Pet Lovebug that’s present in both Classic and Play Wild. And the fact that the main antagonists are ghost-like creatures who are metaphors for environmental destruction.

I like switching between avatars, depending whoever I felt like I wanted to play as. If I feel like to play as my cyborg-inspired Brachiosaurus in PW, I switch into him, if I feel like to play as my hot pink Triceratops, I switch into her. I never forget how I loved to make original characters out of my avatars in AJC, I still come up with ideas for the OCs I’ve make in PW too.

I hope Jampack (or Modstorm? I can’t tell if Jampack or Modstorm is the company or upcoming game’s title), that company formed by former workers of WildWorks would implement a feature in Modstorm, to switch in between human avatars and creature-based ones (if they’re planning to add creature-based avatars, but hey, if they do so, it’ll make it stand out in a way.)

now that izzyzzz mentioned it... i think feral was doomed from the start. they built it with a million very awesome bells and whistles but no real core gameplay. every game that's popular has some sort of core feature that, even with everything else stripped away, makes it fun to play. minecraft has building and exploring in an infinite world, fornite has robust pvp, pokemon has battling and catching pokemon.

feral didn't have anything like that. the main "gameplay" i guess was exploring and collecting items and ingredients, which isnt as fun when you've explored the whole map to the point of memorizing every location and decorated your available avatars and sanctuary. and i feel like this is something that shouldve been addressed before anyone ever touched a keyboard to start working on the game. it's something the character customization and item collection should've been built on top of, not as a substitute for.

omg hiiii finally got my entry for the art contest completed! I've always known phantoms to be born from Mira's tears so finding out that they changed the origin (several times it seems?!??) was a shock 2 me, and i will NAWT let that origin be forgotten it goes so hard........... but anyways heres my GIRL!!! & her daughter with every disease the Phantom Queen!

I remember talking to a friend of mine that Greely's notes back in Classic, specially his notes placed in the Chamber of Knowledge, Coral Canyons, and the Temple of the Ancients notes have interesting lore implications.

I'll start off with the Chamber of Knowledge note:

This implies that Play Wild takes place in a alternative continuity/universe of the original Animal Jam going by the "different worlds" implication. As if they're intertwined with each other due to similar events involving Lightside and Darkside as the Phantoms are using Darkside energy to rearrange things.

Second comes the Coral Canyons note:

This too implies the alternative timeline/universe connection, especially that it seems like there's no new Adventures in Classic, the Phantoms are still going about destruction within the Play Wild continuity.

The third and last note; The Temple of the Ancients note that talks about Juno's spirit being no longer having presence in the statue:

When Play Wild's October 2023 sneak peak came out, I speculated that the Lightside Arctic Wolf and Darkside Arctic Wolf were going to be unique NPCs represented Juno's spirit being split into halves when their spirit somehow moved into the Play Wild universe.

The Lightside spirit would've shown up if anyone joined the Lightside and had a calm-manner dialogue while the Darkside spirit would've showed up if anyone joined the Darkside and had a brash-like dialogue I've imagined what the two would be.

In my opinion when they finally showed up in-game, I was disappointed that they were just Arctic Wolves that players can purchase with real money and not unique NPCs that participated in the event.

Now onward to Greely's disappearance before the PW Greely's resign, these two Jamaa Journals from Classic by Peck and Sir Gilbert when the Lightside vs. Darkside was still going on within Play Wild:

The two Alphas mention that they wonder where did Greely went? Does this imply that the Greely from the original Animal Jam (Classic)'s universe somehow "leapt through worlds" and end up taking in the place of Play Wild's Greely during the whole Lightside vs. Darkside event? It's like Greely wanted to know what was going on with Classic's Jamaa Township getting rearranged by the Lines of Power manipulated by the Phantoms so he had to investigate somewhere but failed as the Lightside won and went into hiding wherever he is now...

Though it may not be the Greely of Classic that end up in Play Wild, as his statue and armor set is still seen in Classic Alpha Headquarters. Liza's comment in Classic's Jamaa Journal in Classic's November update; besides her and the rest of the Alphas concerned for Greely's absence, she wonders if the Phantoms are threatening "somewhere beyond their world":

In Play Wild's November update, a Jamaa Journal from Peck says she felt a "mysterious presence" working alongside them when everyone was connected to the Lightside:

Would this mean Juno's spirit was there during the whole time during the Lightside vs. Darkside event? I feel like they would get revived from the magical energies from the Lightside, like how the dinosaurs and their homeplace Mesoterra was revived through those Alpha Fossils.
