A photo of the Saturn V Moon rocket during its first launch on Apollo 4 (November 9, 1967), but the rocket has been turned into an illustrated anime girl with dark skin, long white flowing hair, and blue eyes. She is staring at the camera and smirking, standing on the launchpad with her arms akimbo and wearing a white T-shirt with black sleeves and an American flag on the chest, black and white checkered pattern shorts--the same pattern as many early NASA rockets including the Saturn V--and black and white striped socks with "USA" printed on the white stripes. It is a dimly lit early morning with a dark blue sky and clouds, and most of the bright yellow light is emanating from the rocket exhaust emitting from the girl's shoes. There are sparks and clouds of smoke surrounding her body as she prepares for launch.

If I turned a famous space rocket into an anime girl, would that be weird or what?

Been a while since I drew anything. This is a little different from what I've usually drawn, but I'm just happy to get my creative gears turning again! I've always been fascinated by space and spaceflight, so I thought I'd take to drawing my own take on the Saturn V rocket. Hope you enjoy!

The background is based on this photo by NASA, taken during the actual Saturn V launch of Apollo 4 on November 9, 1967!

A black and white photo of Neil Armstrong in the cockpit of an old airplane, autographed by Neil himself. The message reads, "To Dave Bruton, best of luck! Neil Armstrong"

On this July 20, the 55th anniversary of the #Apollo11 Moon landing, I'd like to share my dad's autographed photo of Neil Armstrong from when he was working for Neil in 1991 or so (before I was born).

May the intrepid journey of Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins continue to inspire us all!

Saturn V-chan, my humanization of the Saturn V Moon rocket, is sitting in a dimly lit pub and holding a black cup with her left hand. She has long white hair, dark skin, and blue eyes, and wears a white shirt with black sleeves and an American flag in the center, black and white checkered shorts, and black and white socks. The pub vaguely resembles the Mos Eisley cantina from the first Star Wars; there are metallic pipes behind her and a round table in front of her, and she's sitting on a curved bench near the wall. Smiling, she says, "Yeah, I can get you to the Moon and back in six days, easy! Of course, it's gonna cost you..."

Would you let her send you into orbit?

Another drawing of my Saturn V rocket humanization! I tried to finish this a few days ago for the 55th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing, but other stuff came up. Oh well! (And yes, I did take heavy inspiration from the Cantina scene from the first Star Wars for this drawing, heh.)
