Chapter 131 one-shot.
“Why did you bother talking to a rock that couldn’t so much as grunt a response back to you?” Annie said, as Armin sat next to her, leaning against the railing of the ship, heading to the unknown.
“Huh?” Armin was caught off guard; it didn’t occur on his mind that Annie would talk about this…
“There… must have been more fun and cheerful girls out there, right?…” Insignificance laced Annie’s tone, but to be fair, this was her usual speaking tone.

i ranted about this on twitter but im gonna move it here cause im angry lol
i literally don’t care whether or not people ship aruani- what pisses me off is the constant misinterpretion of annie’s character, she didn’t become a warrior cause she was grrr scary, she did it cause she thought she had no choice, because she thought she had to save her home, just like everyone else in this manga.
she, just like everyone else, wanted peace, wanted freedom- she has finally accepted that fighting will not allow her to get that peace she so desperately wants, so she won’t fight anymore. that’s it.
in regards to the relationship stuff, the notion that she is ‘ooc’ in her reactions is weirdly outlandish to me, we know annie gets flustered rather easily, she got flushed and confused anytime anyone complemented her on anything. she was never really made out to be a ‘bad’ character, just extremely emotionally undeveloped due to a lack of decent socialisation as a child. she was vunerable then, she’s vunerable now.
if simply being called a good person is enough to sway her completely to the extent that she’ll risk her own life & ‘mission’ purely because hearing it was that impactful for her- being told she is the target of someone’s affections is bound to have some sort of effect on her. love, to annie, is an extremely foreign feeling, so it’s no wonder it makes her blush and go all shy, the girl’s overwhelmed dude!
i’m not going to disagree that the confirmation of aruani was a little strong, especially considering everything leading up to it was subtle, but this whole ‘iT CaMe oUt oF noWhERe’ act is so unbelievably untrue, some people really need to learn how to read between the lines, especially in places like the female titan arc... has everyone forgotten how she ended up in that crystal in the first place? cause i sure as hell haven’t ❤️

Delicate fingers tap thin, tall glasses against each other, sending champagne scent throughout the white-and-gold hall. Hanged golden-framed paintings watch in an unbreakable silence, overlooking the abundant food and refreshments that are lined up neatly on white-clothed tables alongside the walls. Appetizers made with a whimsical delicacy; dressed, sprinkled, wrapped, and dipped in gold. It felt like a crime to eat it or even touch it.
