He can’t remember how he made it back to his room, because as soon as he heard the news everything began to blur. He stands at the door as if he was an outsider looking in, the room was quiet and empty, devoid of all emotion. You allowed your right hand to fall onto the wound on your torso that was covered by your scout uniform. You tried to yell for help but your throat felt like sandpaper and your eyes had started to drop within the second. However, you were stubborn as hell so you tried to fight it. Fight it, y/n. You are a captain in the scout regiment you're not gonna die so easily, not until someone sees you. You thought to yourself. 

You thought you’d die without anyone seeing you or anyone. It’s funny how you tried to cling to your life but you already knew that you were dying. Not yet, you thought, I just need to see him, one last time, please. Him, all you could think about was him right now. 

“y/n!” Hange? “Jean! Connie! Over here!” You heard different noises but soon enough you felt your body being lifted from the rubble you laid on. You also felt something starting to wrap around your torso. “Stay with me y/n.” Hange continued to mutter towards her as he banged your wound. Trying her best to stop the bleeding.

“Hange..” you managed to whisper. “I’m happy you're alive.” Your voice was hoarse and barely there but it was heard by your bestfriend. Hange smiled at you slightly, trying their best to be positive that you’d be safe, that you’d survive. 

“I’ve got you. Captain.” Jean mutters as he carried you. The boy looked at Hange and they nodded their head. You, however, you were starting to fade away. Your conscious was in and out. All you could feel was the wind against your skin, the same thing you felt whenever you used your gear. The feeling you loved more than anything in the world. The feeling of flying. For you it was the feeling of being free.  

“Hey, you’ve got to be kidding me.” Jean whispered once he landed while carrying you on his back. His eyes landed on Armin who was practically burnt then on nearly dead Erwin. 

“No way..” Connie mutters in shock as well. 

“You cant be serious.” Hange added as she saw the two as well. They knew it was now a choice of who gets the serum. Hange struggles to hold back Mikasa as Levi’s gaze goes to the girl on Jean’s back. HIs eyes widened at the sight of you almost lifeless. Your skin color was paler than before and the white bandages now dark red from the blood that spewed from your wound. Jean had already placed you just beside Erwin. Everyone watched as Levi walked closer to your body. 

As you struggled to open your eyes, you tilted your head to the side. Blurriness was all you saw but once your vision cleared just a bit you saw two more bodies. Armin and Erwin, both struggling for their lives like you were. You knew it would come down to a decision hard to make. Was it Erwin? Humanity’s greatest chance of achieving victory. Was it Armin? The boy who had an incredible mind that could save humanity. Or is it you? The girl who could change the world. It was no doubt that Eren and Mikasa wanted it to be Armin, while Hange and Floch knew it was supposed to be Erwin, but Levi? He knew it could to be you. He knew you were capable of leading the regiment, you have always been Erwin’s choice to be the next commander yet you denied it as you wanted to retire after the retake of Wall Maria. Was it a selfish choice? Yes it was, but for once can he be selfish?

“Y/N…” Levi said in a low tone, your eyes slowly went from Erwin to the man beside you. You did your best to smile, even if it hurt, when you saw Levi’s eyes. Levi listened to Hange give a speech about what they felt when it comes to losing someone. They all knew this was a hard decision to make especially to Levi. Hange knew how much Levi had grown fond of you, whether it was because of your stubbornness or your sweet smile, Levi had grown to like you.

 The captain had already taken the serum and injection from its case when Eren grabbed a hold of his ankle. Eren asked Levi about the sea, while for you everything was starting to grow heavy. You wanted to rest, even for a short time. You heard Levi telling them to leave. Once again you heard the gears go off and you knew you were left there with Levi, who has the toughest job of all. To choose between the three of you. 

When you felt the sleeve of your jacket being pulled up, your eyes opened. Your hands shakily grabbed Levi’s hands, a small smile on your face. The smile that he wished to see every morning. “Make the right choice.” 

“I am.” he replied shortly. “I know you could help lead us to victory.” 

“I’m not the right choice, we both know that.” Your voice came out weaker than before, Levi knew your time was running out. 

“I can’t lose you too.” he mutters, His mother, Isabelle, Furlan, Eld, Petra, Ororou, Gunther, the list goes on, he lost so many already. Not you too.

You managed to laugh a bit. “I won’t leave you.” you said softly. You struggled to move your right hand but you did, you place it on where Levi’s heart was. “As shitty as it sounds, I’ll always be here.” 

“You should've stayed behind.” Levi mutters. “You told me you were gonna stay behind, it would've been easier.” 

“I never liked easy things.” you started off. “Maybe that’s why I liked you. Being your friend wasn't easy, making you smile was the hardest thing I ever did.” you continued to ramble even if your body hurt, you wanted to say these things first. “But believe it or not, it’s the best thing I did. Levi, I know the decision isn't easy but I know you’ll do the right thing.” you advised and gave him one last smile. “For humanity, I’m happy enough to lay my life.” she mutters to herself, convincing herself that she was okay with this. 

“You can let me go, now.” you say happily, even if pained you to leave him by himself, you couldn't fight fate. “I love you.” and with those words you drew your final breath. 

Levi looked at you, sadness in his eyes. He saw as the smile still on your face was now lifeless. He knew he would do the right thing like you said, even if it broke him. He was supposed to open his mouth to say the words you have been dying to hear for him. I love you too. 

But he was too late.

On a brusque autumn eve, a man and a boy would witness the accident that would bring about humanity's greatest asset. Erwin Smith, the man waiting in line to become the next commander of the Scout regiment, sat on the rooftop of his small apartment. He watched the stars and prayed to some celestial god that he’d get some answers.

A boy, Eren Yeager who had dreams of becoming a Scout, rests by the shore of a lake. He too gazes up at the light dappled night sky and wonders, what is beyond?

The universe listens.

Like the sudden eruption of lava from the twisted mouth of a volcano, a blinding light ignites the sky in a blaze of warmth. A comet pierces through the atmosphere like a needle through cloth.

Eren startles and scrambles to his feet. Erwin’s brow lowers. The comet seems to descend upon them like a reaper’s scythe. All panic and fear known from the titans dies away in an instant in the presence of the comet. There are screams. Lights flicker to life in the windows of houses. The cities within the walls awaken within the dead of night to a new menace.

But just as the comet seems to brighten to be more blinding than the sun itself, the flames fizzle out. The rounded shape tapers off into an elegant swoop like phoenix tail feathers. The brightness ebbs.

It becomes smaller and smaller until it appears in the reflection of a still lake like the eye of death, all shadows frightened away by the immense light. It nears the surface of the lake, the light bouncing off the surface and scaring Eren away from the shore.

And then it hits, but not with devastating force like it should. Erwin braces himself for the waves of destruction but they never come. Instead, his eyes peel open and reveal to him a glowing lake in the distance. He climbs down from the roof and races towards the lake.

Eren has retaken his place by the shore, his curious child’s eyes are fixed upon the glowing ball in the middle. He watches as the ball becomes distorted. A pair of arms bend and stretch out of the brightness. Then a head, neck, and shoulders. A body emerges from the ball as a butterfly flees a chrysalis.

Erwin arrives at the lake and is astonished to see the form of a humanoid swimming towards the surface. Towards a little boy whose face he remembers but can’t quite place. It’s not safe for that boy and Erwin reaches for him. Intending to remove him from the danger. But just as his hands open to receive the boys shoulders, a glowing figure breaks the surface. The glowing hands grasp onto their wrists and yank them forward.

Erwin’s knees sink into the soft earth on the shore and he digs in to resist the strength of the tug. He’s met the with fiery eyes of a dark skinned girl. The venom in those yellow irises sends fear running down his spine. He tries to fall back but she uses him as leverage to drag herself onto the shore. The glowing inside of the lake hasn’t gone out, but rather continuously brightens like a blooming flower.

Erwin and Eren hear footsteps surrounding them. The glowing hands stay firmly clasped around their wrists. They heard the screaming and yelling of the soldiers encircling them. But a voice that echoed in their heads trumped all other sounds.

“Leah!”

Clear as a cloudless day, the voice sounded again and again like a siren. There was an intense heat that swept over them, heavy and bordering painful. Spots appear in Erwin’s field of view. His mind becomes so compressed between the voice and the heat that he blacks out entirely.

Eren can’t resist the call to slumber either.

And so it begins with a glowing girl, a future commander, and a boy who will become the very thing he hates most, the victory of humanity.

I wrote as if the reader was your OC, I hope you don't mind!

Eren probably has an interest in you, after all, you both have supernatural powers. He really likes your manners, especially your thoughtfulness towards those you care about. He has a crush on you and, the more the years pass, the more he will love you. When he's stuck in Marley, he'll always be thinking of you, praying that you're okay; when he's locked up in the Survey Corps prison and you come to talk to him, he'll treat you with indifference, but in his mind he'll apologize to you a thousand times. He'll always think of you, even when Mikasa kills him.

Armin loves your intelligence and your thirst for knowledge. You two talk a lot, especially about your powers and the outside world. What struck him most was your taking care of your loved ones. Every time you take care of him, he blushes a lot and stammers all the time. He probably has a little crush on you, but I think your relationship will become more that of a brother-sister as the years go by.

Since Eren likes you, Mikasa will be like your big sister and, after everyone discovers your powers, she will be your "bodyguard". Does anyone make fun of you about your height or age or your powers? She will look at him with her murderous gaze. You two take care of Armin and Eren together, and you two support and console each other.

Jean is your great friend, even if sometimes he flirts and jokes with you just to make Eren mad. However, he never actually does it seriously. Sometimes you two think about how to get him and Mikasa together, although many times they don't work out. He thinks of you as a little sister, and he'll always try to defend you.

Sasha adores you. When you two are together, you only talk about food; sometimes you compete to see who can eat the greatest number of dishes (these contests often end in a draw and with your superiors angry). She understands you, because she too is sometimes labeled as different because she eats a lot. You, Sasha and Connie are the joke trio in the entire Survey Corps.

Like Sasha, Connie adores you. You two do a lot of stupid things together! Like Sasha, he also understands you: due to some of your attitudes you're often described as stupid, like him, and he won't think twice about defending you from those who have offended you. When Sasha dies, you'll console each other.

Ymir admires you for your strength, but she doesn't like you: since Historia likes you and you has a very lovable nature, she fears you might take her away from her. However, when she understands you and Eren love each other, she'll behave better towards you. When she's about to die, she will entrust Historia to you.

You are Historia's royal advisor and lady-in-waiting, although you also fight in the Survey Corps. She always liked you (not in the romantic sense), but she's adored you even more since you consoled her for Ymir's death. She even calls you Star Princess because of your powers! When she has her baby, she will make you her godmother.

Annie doesn't like your manners. The only thing she appreciates you for is that you never forced her to fight you when you were paired up for close combat matches when you were training. However, when you Eldians ally with Marley's warriors and Magath against Eren, she will appreciate you also for your determination to kill the one you love, and, before boarding the ship, she will ask you to protect Armin.

At first Reiner was only interested in your powers. However, as time goes by he's more and more conflicted: he's become very fond of you, but he knows he must also kidnap you to take you to Marley to study your powers; when the Survey Corps saves you, he'll be both relieved and dejected. When you Eldians ally with the Marleyans against Eren, he'll beg you to forgive him ask for everything he has done.

Like Reiner, at first Bertholdt was only interested in your powers and he appreciates you too the more time passes. He feels very comfortable talking to you and, in the end, he'll no longer want to kidnap you, but he'll be forced to do so. In fact, when you are their prisoner, he'll take you aside and apologize to you. When he's about to die, he'll beg you to save him.

For your nature you remind Levi Furlan and for your way of acting you remind him of Isabel. He is very overprotective, respectful, affectionate and loving, although he demonstrates these in his own way, for example staying close to you during expeditions. He treats you and will always treat you like his little sister. If you call him "nii-san" (big brother), he might be moved because he'll think of Isabel.

Hange is like your crazy uncle/aunt. Although, actually, when they learned about your powers, they thought you were a titan and wanted to analyze you. They try to help you with your heart murmur, attempting to come up with something that can relieve the pain, and in exchange you help them with his titan experiments. When they die, they will regret they couldn't help you with your problem.

Erwin really likes your mind and how you think, so he's very protective of you, almost like a father. He wanted to make you Commander of the Survey Corps, but when he told you, you refused in favor of Armin. However, you'll always be one of the main points of his plans: for example, he was the one who advised you to become Historia's advisor, in order to act as an intermediary between her and the Corps.

When people see you and Onyankopon, they think you're father and daughter. In fact, they don't even think badly, because he really treats you like a daughter. The first thing that struck him was your skin: he was very surprised you also had dark skin like him; if someone tries to offend you because of this, they'll have to face their wrath. When you kill Eren, he'll ask you to live with him as his daughter.

The first time you and Yelena met, she wasn't surprised about your powers: Eren told her about you, reiterating the fact that no one should have ever hurt you. She talks to you a lot and tells you about Marley, thus becoming almost like a mother or an aunt to you. When you're in Odiha, you'll console her about the failure of Zeke's plan and she will beg you to stop Eren. When you kill Eren, she'll ask you to live with her too.

Niccolò loves your love for his food and he's very surprised that you eat so much without gaining weight or feeling sick. He really enjoys cooking all of Marley's dishes for you and loves it when you teach him the Island ones. When Sasha dies, he'll come to you for comfort. After Eren's death, he'll continue to cook for you.

At first Gabi hated you: for her you were just one of the Devils of Paradis. However, now she adores you since you saved her and Falco from Niccolò's fury and she will try to console you after Eren treats you badly. After Eren dies, she will introduce you to her family and will come to visit you periodically with them.

Unlike Gabi, Falco immediately appreciated you. The first time you met was at the Blouse house: you had gone to visit Sasha's parents and you recognized him and Gabi, but you didn't unmask them. In fact, you asked them how they were and what they were doing there. He almost sees you as his big sister and calls you "nee-san" (big sister). After you kill Eren, he'll come to visit you very often.

Porko doesn't like you, because you're his enemy and because you and the other Eldian soldiers attacked his house. He doesn't know how to react when, after infiltrating Paradis' army, you realize he's a warrior but you don't say anything: he's a mixture of surprise, recognition and anger. He also won't know how to react when you try to save him just before Falco devours him.

From the first time she saw you, Pieck knew you were a special person, but not because of your powers: more because you made Reiner's will waver. Anyway, she didn't like you at first, since you were an enemy. You fought twice, and she admits that you were stronger than her. When you team up together, she will be kind to you, and after you kill Eren, you'll be great friend.

Zeke learnt about you and about your powers from Reiner and Bertholdt. In your first meeting, he was both amazed and softened by your and Eren's relationship, emotions heightened when Eren told him he would abandon the euthanasia plan if anyone hurt you. You'll talk to each other in the Paths for the last time and you and Armin will convince him to let Levi kill him to stop Eren.
