Bullshit

A Breznick Fanfiction

Bullshit

Warnings: Strong language (very unlike me, I know) Season three spoilers

~

"YOU DON'T FUCKING TELL ME WHAT TO DO!" Claire screamed at Morgan as they stomped into the locker room. "I'M NOT TELLING YOU WHAT TO DO, CLAIRE. WHAT I'M SAYING IS THAT WHAT YOU DID WAS STUPID," Morgan slammed the locker shut with such force it shook the room.

"It wasn't your God damn fault that they died," Her compassionate side was something nobody ever saw, but she was willing to show Claire. She was willing to show Claire every side of her in return for trust. "You're just telling me the same thing I told Shaun," Dr. Browne snarled. Gosh, it was weird watching their personalities swap.

"I'M NOT TELLING YOU THE SAME THING YOU TOLD SHAUN." Morgan's hands were out in Claire's face, their tight grip that would've triggered her arthritis being drowned from the emotions Reznick felt. "IT WASN'T YOUR FAULT THAT NEIL DIED. IT WASN'T YOUR FAULT THAT YOUR MOTHER DIED. AND I KNOW YOU KNOW IT, Claire… I know you think it's true but it's not," The tears that prickled at the sides of both of their eyes dared to fall. Don't show that you love her, Don't show that you love her.

"BUT IT IS! I SHOULD'VE THROWN THE BOTTLE OUT WITH THE REST-" Claire rose from the bench. "HOW IN HELL WERE YOU SUPPOSED TO KNOW?"

"BECAUSE SHE'S MY MOTHER AND SHE'S INSANE!" Hot, unwelcomed tears pooled like crazy at the mention of that night. Memories of the ashes and the blood, how she will never look at that same wine again.

"Leave. Get your shit and leave." Morgan narrowed her eyes at the bitchy girl's command. "I'm not leaving and neither are you. Not until you realize that it wasn't your fault!" Claire threw herself back onto the bench. "YEAH WELL, IT WON'T MATTER BECAUSE THAT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN! I'm never going to live down on either of those deaths," Morgan sighed, "I'm not asking you to,"

"WELL, THEN WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT? BECAUSE IT WON'T CHANGE. NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY–HOW HARD I TRY–EVERYDAY I WILL WAKE UP AND THINK ABOUT THE DEATHS OF EVERY PATIENT HERE, EVERY MOTHER OR FATHER, EVERY CHILD, SISTER, BROTHER… Every Doctor," Both of their hearts ached.

"What makes you think I don't either? What about Audrey, or Park? WE ALL KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO LOSE SOMEONE, CLAIRE." Now it was her turn to cry. "I THREW MY CAREER OUT THE DAMN WINDOW to GIVE SOMEONE THEIR LIFE BACK! You don't think that's hard?"

"You don't think finally opening up again than losing another person is hard?" She was referring to Melendez… God, how Morgan hated how she talked about him. "YOU DON'T SEE ME SAYING IT'S NOT! IT IS. IT FUCKING IS. BUT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE LOST JUST AS MUCH AS YOU HAVE!"

Reznick hated everything about Claire in this one moment. Everything she would fantasize about, she now dreaded. Her love shattered almost as fast as it was perceived. "Claire, you need help. There are people to help you, I'll help you."

She rolled her eyes at what she made out to be Morgan's "act". " I DON'T NEED HELP, AND I DON'T NEED IT FROM YOU!" Claire stormed out of the room just like how they came in, except only this time, Morgan was left in the seating area. Face of makeup now smeared and messy from the anguish.

It was bullshit. Bullshit that she ever wanted to kiss her all day and night. Bullshit that she even let herself love another again. BULLSHIT BECAUSE SHE UNDERSTOOD, she just couldn't say anything.

Hands and Heart

A Morgan Reznick x Reader fanfiction

Hands And Heart

You took her fragile hands into yours, caressing her scarred skin slowly. Morgan took a deep, shaky breath, watching you play with her fingers.

"What you did was stupid." You admitted quite harshly. "I helped save a life,"

"You took ten years off your career-"

"I thought you said you'd support me, no matter what the situation was," she argued back, her hands still in yours. "That's not what I'm saying-" she pulled her hands to her chest.

"Then what are you saying?" A silence washed over the both of you like the previous one. You sighed for what felt like the millionth time that night.

"What I'm saying is, I hate seeing you like this," she raised an eyebrow in the judgingly motion you loved so much. "You don't like seeing my scarred hands-"

"I don't like seeing you work." Her expression fell. "Watching you look at Claire or Alex or any of the other surgeons, it hurts."

Looking anywhere but towards you, Morgan opened her mouth, only for air to move its way through.

"You're not a surgeon anymore."

"Y/N, I know. You-"

"You probably will never be able to operate properly again-"

"You don't need to tell me-" Her voice was getting weak, something she was insecure about. No one has ever seen the sides of Morgan that you have.

"You don't think it hurts me? Not being able to do what I love, having to work by that annoying old man all day."

Taking her hands once again, you raised them to your cheeks. You ghosted your skin above hers with such care it pained her heart.

She was shaking, her eyes met yours. Those green, sparkling eyes you thought about day and night since day one.

"I love you, Morgan." You could feel her soft fingertips tickling your face. "Nothing will change that. Not your hands, not some stupid surgery. But seeing you do something you hate each day? Especially since you could've prevented it from happening…"

Her sniffles made your heart ache. You moved one of her hands to the corner of your mouth and gave her palm a little kiss. You grasped her gently and pulling away.

"I'm sorry," it was just above a whisper, but you were certain Morgan heard it. "I'm sorry that I was harsh, I'm sorry that I wasn't acting like a supportive girlfriend,"

Reznick had tears trickle at the edges of her eyes. Giving a tight-lipped semi-smile, she nodded her head. "Yeah, yeah… you should be," Your giggle was muffled by your sobs.

You both pulled each other into a hug. Laying there, you stroked her hair the same way you did her hands. Her hands that were still clasped in yours.

Before you drifted off, you heard her small whisper followed by a little nuzzle.

"I love you too,"

I love you, too

I Love You, Too

Request: Can you write an OS where Meledez survived and he and Claire get together

A/N: Of course! Sorry this took so long, I had multiple drafts for this idea… Keep in mind I know almost nothing about medical emergencies and this is probably all incorrect.

This request was entered through my Wattpad account

Claire wasn’t ready to say goodbye… After finally getting comfortable enough to talk about her problems to her therapist, this would be a whole other problem. He couldn’t leave now, there was too much she wanted to tell him. So much she wanted to do with him.

“I already told you the risks of what could happen to Melendez and that’s only if the surgery is a success,” Glassman’s words shot through her mind for the thousandth time this hour, there has to be a way for him to live.

The numbers were terrible, there was no change to that. Tube-fed, a diabetic with an ostomy bag, and waiting for a liver transplant. But that didn’t matter to Claire. All she wanted was to go out with him, have him take the chance to survive. She’d take care of him no matter what.

He agreed to the surgery, and Browne has never been so relieved yet scared at the same time. She couldn’t get her hopes up with the Trauma Whipple but she couldn’t give up on every and all hope. This was a huge surgery and knowing she was doing it on the love of her life hurt… But she wasn’t to give up.

God forbid Claire admit it, but it was a miracle. It truly was.

After some time, it seemed the internal bleeding was starting to go away on its own. Now, Dr. Browne wouldn’t be all so surprised if this certain injury wasn’t so severe. But it was. So, the fact that Neil survived that 1 in 100 chance surgery and barely any of the risks mentioned by Aaron had affected him, was only pure luck.

Of course, it took months for him to get in such shape in order to leave the hospital -not to mention, the constant protests of Claire, Audrey and Alex whenever he tried to help out with work- and finally get that first, real date with Claire Browne.

The only thing Melendez didn’t mind, was Claire’s presence between lunch breaks and visiting hours. He could hear Morgan outside in the hall talking about how sappy and sweet it was to bring him food from the cafeteria every day. The disgust in her voice was something Claire complained about once she got Reznick off her back.

~

“You saved me…” Claire snuggled into Neil’s side on the hospital bed. Only so much time till he was discharged from the hospital only to come back and help other people. “And you saved me,” He looked down to the brunette doctor that abandoned her salad.

After minutes of silence and small sniffles of realization, Claire admitted something she only recently found the courage to say.

“I love you.” She looked into his brown eyes, scared of rejection even though she knew full well that he felt the same. He didn’t need to tell her, but it was necessary.

“I love you, too.”

Morgan: We need to distract these guys

Claire: Leave it to me

Claire: Centaurs have six limbs and are therefore insects. Discuss.

Alex, Audrey, and Neil: *Immediately begin arguing*

Shaun, watching in horror: Oh this. I don’t like this. I don't like this at all.

Claire: *Posts a super low-quality image to the group chat*

Morgan: If I had a dollar for every pixel in this image, I’d have 15 cents

Claire: If I had a dollar for every ounce of rage I felt in my body after I read this text, I would have enough money to buy a cannon to fire at you

Alex: Actually I did the math, Morgan would have $225, not $0.15.

Morgan: Fam I’m right here....

Lea: If I had a dollar I would buy a can of soda :)

Claire: while you’re there could you buy me an apply juice please?

Lea: Sorry I only have a dollar

Claire: :(

Alex: Hey I just realized my friend is right, Morgan would have $22,500 because it's a dollar for every pixel, not a cent

Lea: If I had $22,500 I would buy a can of soda and an apply juice

Alex: You can buy anything you want with $22,500

Neil: Yeah and she wants soda and apply juice

Alex: Apply juice to what

Audrey: Directly to the forehead

Morgan: Great chat everyone

Request: @mr-walkingrainbow

Hello! How are you today? Is there where I can ask for a prompt? If not please tell me where I can!!! (I’m just gonna say the prompt). So for 1, it’s Breznick. (Or Clairgan, whatever floats your boat) and basically, Morgan just has a closeted fear of thunder and then a super big storm hits and Claire soon realizes what’s wrong and rather than let Alex tease her or something she finds them somewhere private and just helps her through it! Very fluffy. (I checked the no-no list and I think that’s ok)

Request: @mr-walkingrainbow

A/N: I'm sorry, I kinda made it angsty, I got carried away 😅 anyway, I hope you like it, sorry it took a while too

It was raining that morning, and, according to Shaun, it was expected. Unfortunately, no one else was prepared and claimed whatever site they got their weather updates from said it would be sunny. Which only resulted in Shaun saying they need to get better at knowing what's coming and what's not.

Great way to start the day off.

After a difficult surgery, –removing a tumour that was wrapped around a crucial nerve– Claire, Shaun and Alex were in need of a hot cup of coffee. Well, at least Alex and Claire were.

Overall, it's just been a really crappy day; and, of course, to top it all off, whatever asshole that controls the weather decided to make it rain. Again.

Going in to work soaked and coming out in the same fashion. At least now they were sorta prepared…

Claire walked into the locker room to get out of her subs for the night. She had put in a special request to end her day short, sure, Claire has dealt with way worse, but this just wasn't a day she could hold up.

Once she was finished getting changed, she heard a loud sound from outside reminding her that it was still storming. Just worse.

Heavily sighing, she made her way back to the stairwell to see if she could grab one of the hospital's spare umbrellas.

She closed the door behind her and heard a small sound. Someone else was in here, and it sounded like… crying?

Hearing the door close, Morgan softly swore under her breath. She was not going to look vulnerable in front of anyone today. Especially over something so stupid like a storm.

"Hey, anyone in here?" Claire's soft voice rang out through the stairwell. Morgan abruptly froze, if it was bad before, it was worse now. The last person she needs to see her crying is Claire Browne.

The saint Claire Browne.

Another rumble of thunder from outside made Morgan jump, forgetting about Claire. A small whimper escaped her lips as more tears fell from her eyes.

Dr. Browne's soft footsteps echoed throughout the empty hall like Morgan's cries.

"Morgan?" The white coat and blond hair was all that Claire needed to figure out who was in there. Though, she was alarmed, what was Morgan doing… More importantly, why was she crying?

From behind, Claire could see Morgan's back slump down farther, still stiff in shock. Walking over, Claire gently sat down next to the taller blond.

She looked to Morgan, then to the vacant, stale wall that mocked every doctor to come here. Morgan took in a deep breath of humiliation, her trembling hands running over her face, making their way to rub the tears from her now puffy eyes.

Claire tapped her foot with Morgan's, giving her a little reassurance that whenever Morgan was ready, she could talk to her.

She wasn't sure what it was that set Morgan off. Possibly a case that hit too close to home, maybe the problems with her career, or perhaps Morgan just isn't in the best mental state. Whatever it was, Claire wanted her to know that she wasn't alone.

She could hear the left-over sniffles from Morgan's small breakdown.

Claire dusted the tears off of Morgan's cheeks with her knuckle, being very gentle not to startle her anymore than she already is.

Finally getting a good look at her face, she could tell Morgan's been down there for a while. All alone.

Seeing the girl she lo- likes a lot break down over something she couldn't figure out how to fix, or even know the cause of for that matter, just broke Claire's heart.

The poor woman was alone in the stairwell for God knows how long, sobbing her eyes out.

Claire let her hand down to rest on Morgan's cheek, caressing her jawline softly. She could feel Morgan gently lean into the touch.

Another clap of thunder made Morgan spring from her previously calm stance.

"Uh," She stammered, voice groggy and embarrassed, wanting to avoid any further conversation that would sprout between the two. But of course, Claire just had to look at her like that. Like she cared.

Thankfully, Morgan was now being paged out of the awkward situation. Well, not so thankful for the patient who had summoned a code blue.

Swearing under her breath for the second time today, Morgan jumped from the concrete steps, Claire's hand falling back to her side. Morgan sprinted back up to where Claire came from, wanting nothing but to avoid confrontation about what just went on. And, I guess, help her patient in the process.

To Claire's dismay, Morgan went the rest of her shift avoiding her.

-

Claire stirred gently in her sleep, coaxing herself to wake up. She let her senses relax for a moment until she noticed her alarm wasn't going off.

She lifted her head from the pillow and squinted her eyes around the room in search of the red numbers.

11:43.

It was nearly midnight, what was she doing up this early? Her question was soon answered by the loud rain pouring from outside. It was still storming out.

A flash of lightning lit up her room, followed by the loud thunder. The only thing she could think of was Morgan jumping at the sound in the stairwell.

Morgan.

It was simple, Morgan was afraid of the storm.

Without thinking, Claire sobered up and jumped out of bed, put on a proper shirt and checked her phone for Morgan's address.

There was no way she was going to leave Morgan alone again.

-

So, that's how Claire found herself standing outside Morgan's door at midnight.

It was only now, after she had gotten kinda dressed and drove all the way out here, that she started to rationalize what she was actually doing.

But one more flash of lightning and her finger was pushing the doorbell. God, she only hoped that the ringing that echoed throughout Morgan's house didn't startle the woman any more than she already was.

Claire felt her heart race as she saw the doorknob slowly start to turn. The door soon opened, revealing a red eyed Morgan in some comfy clothes.

Morgan's hand flew up to her eyes, subconsciously wiping them clean of tears for the millionth time today. Suddenly, she felt very insecure about her appearance. But Morgan's messy hair was the cutest thing in Claire's eyes.

"Um… Claire?" Morgan's soft voice broke at the sight of Claire awkwardly swaying there. "I- I didn't want you to be alone," The words that came out of her mouth sounded small, like how Morgan felt.

That night Morgan fell asleep with her body cradled by Claire's and her head buried in the brunette's chest. Soft, safe and warm.

"I feel you've been on the other end of this table that I might not even be qualified to investigate you. I think we're building a relationship here," Claire rolled her eyes at the familiar sarcastic comment as Officer Reznick pulled out the chair on her end of the table. "Y'know, conflict of interest and everything." She smirked.

The brunette across from Morgan didn't hesitate to cut straight to the chase.

"I'm innocent. I swear." Claire slammed her hand-cuff burned hands on the table in frustration. The little hum the blonde across from her let out only added to the annoyance knowing the mere sound was purely so that she knew Morgan acknowledged what she said.

"I'm not lying!"

"Alrighty," Officer Reznick mumbled again, flipping through some magazine -or maybe it was the newspaper which had Claire's name in it- not bothering to make eye contact.

"Officer-" Morgan cut her off this time.

"I hear you, you're a Saint, Claire." A full sentence was a start but it still confused her why Morgan wouldn't meet her eyes.

What confused her even more was that she wanted progression with this investigation.

Claire Browne, was, in fact, innocent.

*This time.*

Maybe it was just wanting to get out of this room that she found herself stuck in for what felt like the millionth time.

That mustn't look too good on her record.

Morgan flipped through what Claire had now confirmed to be the daily newspaper by watching her fill in the crossword and let out an exasperated sigh.

"Are you just trying to waste my time? I have a job to get to in-" She looked down at her wrist only to be met with the cold yet harsh metal that chimed with her every movement. "However many minutes till 4:30!"

Morgan scribbled something down with that irritating blue inked pen that Browne couldn't stand then looked to her watch.

"You have about an hour," She looked up to see Claire roll her eyes at the pen clicking closed. "That is if you bother to tell the truth,"

The brunette felt herself sink into the seat, which shouldn't even be qualified as a seat, more like some sorta perch that has now left a permanent mark in her ass.

God, she hates this chair.

"I'm not lying to you, detective. Please just believe me this once!" She understood that with her past she wasn't a trusted person, and that simply telling someone who went through years if schooling and training wouldn't make them believe that she is actually innocent... but there really wasn't much she could do.

Well, she could get a lawyer but she didn't need this to go any further than it already was.

"Browne! Browne... I know we have our history, I know you got your history, I know you have some sorta intel of this investigation and the fact you were spotted on scene just seems to bring me further into my conclusion," She shrugged.
