Nintendo hasn’t shown us any cinematic cutscenes of post time skip Dimitri in action. So far we’ve been shown Edelgard slashing stuff, Claude jumping around and Dimitri's brooding intensity. Not that I’m complaining, I’m just really really looking forward to seeing what he’s capable of.
Blue Lions - Shakespeare Headcanons
I know that Leicester has the most King Lear references but I can’t help but get Shakespearean tragedy vibes from BL. So here are my Shakespearean headcanons for my kids. Dimitri’s stuff will be mixed with the legend of Blaiddyd.

The childhood friends know each other because their fathers worked for the King’s guard or as advisors.
Other than the fact that Gautier, Fraldarius and Galatea are all nearest to Blaiddyd

Dimitri’s father was murdered 4+ years ago and his uncle now sits the throne. Or his mother.
Whatever, there’s a regent on the throne until Dimitri is old enough to ascend.
He never does ascend as he is somehow banished from the throne. He and his fellow Blue Lions flee… maybe to Sreng. (See: the Blue Lions tweet that Nintendo deleted)
Or exiled somehow like in the legend of Blaiddyd
They return 5 years later to restore the rightful king
King Lear
In the play, the physically blind sees more than the ones with vision.
Dimitri’s eye is hollow, but he sees more now than he ever had before. He has gone mad, he knows, but he can still hear the cries of the dead at night, crying for vengeance, crying for solace. Sometimes the screaming dead become too much to handle and he himself would scream into the night. Howls of pain echoing in the dark.

Honestly, Golden Deer is really tempting for me right now because King Lear is my favourite play by Shakespeare. King Leir, who is thought to be where Shakespeare based his character from, was the son of Bladud (Blaiddyd) and the founder of Leicester you can Google that. This simply implies that the Leicester alliance was formed last out of the three nations (confirmed) and possibly split from Faerghus (unconfirmed) though some of its nobles might also hail from Adrestia. Ingrid and Lysithea both have a crest from the other nation.
I was wondering why they chose ‘Regan’ instead of the kinder ‘Cordelia’, until I read that Regan means ‘little king’. This makes sense as Claude hails from a place where there is no ruling monarch but there is still a leading noble, thus making him a ‘little king’.

Prerelease Childhood Friends Scenario. No spoilers
Sylvain in the sitting room poring over a piece of paper and Ingrid walks in. Being Ingrid, she quickly notices his dour mood.
I: What is it?
Sylvain huffs
S: It’s a letter from my brother. He wants to congratulate me for my luck in being born with a crest… he says I don’t deserve it.
Sylvain is angry, because of course he is. He just wants his big brother back. He still smiles anyway
S: If he wants my stupid inheritance, he can have it.
He notices her clutching a similar letter in hand.
S: And yours?
Sylvain is trying to light up the mood, she won’t let his efforts go in vain and tries to perk up
I: I have good news from my mother… She’s found another suitor for me. Perhaps if I marry him, then we’ll be able to pay off our debts…
The smile she gives him is broken. Her laughter is strained.
I: She’s been selling father’s possessions… All his horses.
Sylvain remembers the horses in the Galatea stables. Knew them all by name.
She doesn’t want to think about it and turns away to put her letter down.
I: Why do people want this so badly? To have all these possessions...to have all these… ephemeral things, these-
She walks around the room full of teacups and decorative plates and caresses one so gently. Hiding the anger she knows so well.
I: These extravagant, breakable, expensive, useless!
She throws the teacup smashing it on the wall.
She gasps.
D: Dimitri had just walked in, the cup smashing just beside his head.
His eyes are wide, heart beating fast. He hears the glass breaking over and over and over.
I: Your highness… Dimitri, I -
D: I’m fine
Finally, he starts to breathe.
D: I’m fine. They all break eventually, it’s to be expected.
Dimitri tries to walk tall but shakily sits down on the nearest chair.
He looks around but Felix isn’t there. He didn’t show up again.

Felix gets recruited by the Black Eagles.
Because you can bet your *ss bottom dollar that I’m stealing Felix when I go through the Black Eagles run.
F: Hey boar… Listen… I’ve been invited to move to the Black Eagles.
D: Oh… That’s great Felix. Are you going to take it?
F: I’ve already accepted.
D: Right. Of course. They are all very skilled, I’m sure you’ll have no shortage of challenges.
F: What is wrong with you?
D: ...
F: I’m leaving and you’re perfectly okay with that?
Dimitri is silent for a while.
D: Of course not. But I won’t force you to stay.
Felix frowns at him.
D: If this is what you want, who am I to stop you?
Felix scoffs.
F: You’re the prince, you could order me not to.
D: I won’t.
The prince sighs and looks toward the floor. It shouldn’t hurt to try.
D: Felix...I know you think I’m weak. I know you don't agree with our values, but…
I’m asking you as a friend… Please stay?
He asks it so heartbreakingly honest and fragile and it’s everything Felix hates about his house. Still it hurts him to say what he does next.
F: A soft heart and good virtue is not going to win wars. You’ve always been so… damned fragile.
He leaves his prince and doesn’t look back.

M: …
D: Mercedes… you told me once that you missed the land of your birth… return there. The nobles of Adrestia will take you away from here… I have already composed a letter of acceptance. If you so wish-
He doesn’t see the furrow in her brow when she slaps him. She stares at him sternly but earnestly.
M: Do not assume that that is what I want. I miss the place where I was born, yes. And I know you want to keep us safe.
He won’t look at her so she turns his face towards her.
M: But even if we lose this fight, do not ask me to abandon my king.
He closes his single eye.
D: I am not king yet.
M: You are already king to the people you lead

Summertime headcanons for the winter kids
Headcanon: The Faerghus kids all have freckles but they’re barely visible until they spend a few days in Adrestian Summer
Ashe
Ashe has seen the most sun out of all of them but he just can’t seem to get tan (not that he tries).
At Gaspard, he usually ends up going to the river dividing Faerghus and Adrestia because he likes the way the sun glitters on the water, but he respects Sir Lonato so he never enters the neutral territory in between the two regions where the Western church is located.
Having lived the farthest north of Faerghus, the childhood friends haven’t really seen harsh sunlight.
Sylvain
Sylvain actually tans quite well.
He has freckles on his nose and since he’s started wearing sleeveless shirts, he has very visible freckles peppered on his neck and shoulders.
At first, he does this because it’s too hot for jackets until he sees girls swooning over his exposed arms. He’s tempted to take off his shirt completely but Dimitri stops him (and Ingrid already told him off).
Dimitri
Dimitri also tans pretty evenly, but he gets sunburnt first.
He has freckles on the top half of his face and a few on his lips.
He refused to change out of his long sleeves and gloves out of propriety but started wearing short sleeved summer tunics when he almost passed out from heat stroke (he totally passed out).
Everyone makes sure he stays in the shade so he doesn’t burn.
Most likely to have tan lines.
Felix
Felix doesn’t have very many freckles except for a few specks here and there. He mostly has moles on his neck and back.
He manages to tan but not evenly.
He’s not averse to taking off his vest and popping open a few buttons especially for sparring. But he definitely needs to keep re-tying his hair because loose hairs always manage to slip out and stick to his skin.
Ingrid
Ingrid has full face freckles but a little darker around her eye area.
She’s embracing the heat because ice-cream but still can’t bring herself to show some leg skin. She’s been rolling up her sleeves though. Give her another week and she’ll be wearing short shorts.
Annette
Annette has full face freckles and some darker spots near her lips.
As the only niece of her baron uncle, he used to take her around different parts of Faerghus so she’s most likely to be used to warmer weather like Ashe.
Likes to make crushed ice desserts for the team.
Mercedes
Mercedes has the least but there are some around her eyes and nose.
She tans unevenly but that doesn’t stop her from enjoying the sun.
Unlike the other Blue Lions *coughdimitricough*, she doesn’t get dramatic in hot weather
Dedue
Dedue has faint freckles around his eyes and on the back of his hands from gardening. He doesn’t wear gloves when handling delicate plants as he can feel the soil better that way.
He still spends his time in the academy’s glasshouse conservatory despite being way too hot in there.
It’s currently winter time here in New Zealand which means I look pale sickly and my veins are purple. My tan is gone and I am looking forward to joining the Faerghus kids and drinking my hot coco, YES. Then in the summer, I will hide in my room, curtains closed and hissing at anyone who dares let the sun in.
For those of you on the other side of the world (or on the equator), please stay sun smart - wear a sunhat, hide in the shadows and remember: the sun is the enemy. I love freckles and moles but please take care of your skin health. Even Filipinos like me will get sunburnt.
