Daniel 12:1-2 Confirms the Messianic Resurrection of Isaiah 2:19

In Chapter 12 and verse 1, Daniel prophesies the death and resurrection of a great prince named Michael—meaning “who is like God”—at the end of days. He writes:

“At that time Michael shall stand up, The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; And there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation, Even to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, Every one who is found written in the book. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt” (Dan. 12:1-2, NKJ).

The 'Septuagint,' an early Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible, translates the Hebrew word 'amad' (“stand up”/arise) with the Greek word 'παρελευσεται,' meaning to pass away: "ἡ γῆ παρελεύσεται NAS: and earth will pass away, KJV: and earth shall pass away, INT: the earth will pass away." So Daniel is telling us that at the time of the end, when there will be great turmoil and distress upon the earth, Michael—after passing away ('παρελεύσεται')—will arise from the dead in order to energize the general resurrection of the dead (και ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ ἀναστήσεται [anastēsetai] Μιχαὴλ ὁ ἄρχων ὁ μέγας; Theodotion)! What does all this mean?

Daniel 12:1-2 reaffirms the last-days-resurrection theme found in Isaiah 2:19 and Hebrews 9:26-27. Therefore, Christ’s resurrection could not have happened two thousand years ago, as most people believe:

"[These] men … have gone astray from the truth saying that the resurrection has already taken place" (2 Tim. 2:18).

All the prophecies concerning Armageddon seem to converge in the 2010 decade or soon thereafter: the Mayan (their twenty-six-thousand-year cycle ended in 2012), the Sikh (in which, according to Sakhee 15th, their avatar is said to appear around the year 2015), Malachy’s prophecy of the 112 Popes (Pope Francis being the last, according to experts, who was inducted in 2013), Daniel’s Seventy-Weeks prophecy (in which Armageddon is said to be triggered seventy years after the restoration of Israel: 1948+70=2018), and the four Blood Moons that fall on Jewish holy days (apocalyptic omens that are predicted to occur in 2014-15)!

"The Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world." (Rev. 13:8). Was Jesus slain before the world was even made?

"Children it is the last hour; ... even NOW many antichrists have arisen; from this we know that IT IS THE LAST HOUR." (1 John 2:18). Is John implying that 95 AD is the end of the world?

"In THESE LAST DAYS [God] has spoken to us in His Son." (Heb. 1:2). Is the author suggesting that the last days of the world happened during his life time?

"He [Jesus] … WAS revealed at the final point of time” (1 Pet. 1:20, New Jerusalem Bible, ). Is the final point of time in the past?

In the book of Revelation, in reference to a future event, John writes: “From the tribe of Judah, twelve thousand HAD BEEN sealed” (Rev. 7:5, New Jerusalem Bible). Is the future in the past? Surely, "had been" is past tense!

Thus, the Bible is written in a timeless context as though everything is happening now! It's speaking to all generations and to all periods of history. It isn't writing exclusively about past history as most people mistakenly believe!

Perhaps this quote may shed some light: “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings, who have not yet received a kingdom, but they receive authority as kings with the beast for one hour [1 century]” (Rev. 17:9-12). If one hour equals a century, as in the aforementioned quote (for details, refer to my book), then one-half hour must refer to a half-century. The “half an hour” reference in Rev. 8:1 actually has a double meaning. On the one hand, it signifies the seven weeks of Daniel’s prophecy (fifty-year Jubilee/Ch. 9) that marks the appearance of Messiah. In others words, the Messiah is “silent” for “half an hour,” or for seven weeks until his appearance. But the “half an hour” idiom also refers to the middle of the tribulation period when Christ will be revealed to wage war on the Antichrist. And, in this case, the reference is not to thirty literal minutes but rather to the three-and-a-half year interim (or 42 months) that is constantly repeated throughout the text. That is, the Great Tribulation commences, and it appears as though God is silent for a very short period of time until he finally rescues his people. This time period is also known as "a time, times, and half a time," and it is equal to three and a half years.
