Dettlaff X Reader - Tumblr Posts
This has been living in my head rent free. This has been living in my head rent free. So I might as well put it on my Tumblr! Ugh. So this is ANOTHER Witcher Fanfic that has been driving me nuts and I'm too lazy to put it into Quotev so I'm gonna put it onto Tumblr in parts. I'm sorry.
Summary: When Syanna failed to show up at Tesham Mutna at an appointed time Dettlaff decided to not just raze Beauclair to the ground. He was going to take Toussaint and rule it. So now Vampires rule Toussaint, Dettlaff the main ruler, and any human they have caught is now either dead or enslaved.
The day when Dettlaff took over was *Name's* birthday. *Name* was having... An okay day. Considering the fact that their parents have 'forgotten' and now they are dead... So *Name* has decided to flee Toussaint but that's not going to be easy. Especially since Delenfer Pass has been guarded. *Name* is now hiding in Toussaint thinking of the insane stuff that has happened on their birthday.
Too lazy to write the rest of the summary but you get captured and become Dettlaff's servant for a bit then you fall in love with Dettlaff. EXPECT THIS TO BE BOTH SHITTY AND WEIRD.
Warning: A little depressing.
Title: The Servant of a Vampire
Part 1
Dettlaff:
Syanna didn't show up at Tesham Mutna. Dettlaff knows that. For he was crouching on a tree branch, his icy blue eyes watching the empty ruins. She wasn't there. Dettlaff clenched his teeth together and stood up. Humans are pathetic. All they ever do is lie, manipulate and hurt. They are the true monsters! Not him! He turned around and disappeared into a crimson red mist, only to appear behind Anna Henrietta in minutes.
"Where is he?! Where is Dettlaff?!" The Duchess screamed at the Witcher in anger.
Regis saw him before the Witcher did. His eyes widened and he subtly shook his head. Dettlaff just scowled at him and raised one arm. His pointed nails grew until they were claws.
"Right here." He growled out.
Anna Henrietta turned around and her eyes widened. Before she could do anything Dettlaff stabbed her in the chest and ripped her heart out, throwing it on the ground. He heard the sound of swords being drawn and turned around to look at the guards. He was grinning. Before the guards could attack him Dettlaff killed them. All of them. He turned around and saw Regis dragging the Witcher out of the palace and away from him.
Dettlaff didn't bother to follow them. He has other plans. He turned around and raised his arms.
"Fellow vampires! My name is Dettlaff! Long ago we had humans as slaves! As a source for blood! The time has come for us to do that again! Join me as I take over Toussaint!" He yelled, his voice carrying across the Duchy.
He heard the vampires hiss in agreement and the vampire smiled once again. He'll find Syanna. And when he did, he'll make sure he'll drain her until she had no more blood left inside of her.

You walked into your home, exhausted and unsure of what was going on. You heard someone saying something about taking over the Duchy but that's going to be impossible. Besides. The Ducal Guard will protect the Toussaintois. You know it.
"Mama! Papa! I'm home! Collected every blueberry, blackberry and raspberry. As you asked." You yelled.
You looked around. Ribbons were pinned on the walls and a huge banner was hung up. It said 'Happy birthday *Name*!' You smiled then frowned. The silence was unsettling. You put the basket onto the table and kept walking forwards.
"Ma? Pa?" You called out again.
You heard shuffling and then growling. Oh this could not be good. You grabbed a small dagger and clutched it tightly. Then you walked into the dining room where you heard the noises. A vampire was on the ground, clutching your father and drinking his blood.
"Fuck." You muttered.
The Vampire heard you and looked up. She snarled and turned invisible. Best birthday ever! Not. You turned and ran for dear life. You didn't grab the basket of berries. You knew you should've but the only thing on your mind was 'Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run.'
You heard the vampire running behind you and forced your poor legs to go faster. The last time you ran was when a group of bandits thought it would be fun to torment you. Or that time when your brother dared you to talk to a werewolf. You turned a sharp corner and kept going. No way in hell you were going to be a vampires lunch. You ran out of the family estate and down the path. These shoes were not made for running. One slipped off and you tripped over. You pushed yourself up and kept running. Three furry vampires saw you and chased after you. But you kept running.
You spotted Caroberta Woods and ran off the track to go into a shortcut. There was a panther nearby, dead. The vampire, who was drinking its blood, saw you and got up to chase after you. Shit shit shit. You pushed yourself to go faster. Your body will seriously be punishing you if you ever survived this. You heard a super-sonic scream and then you were pushed forwards. You rolled down a hill, down some rocky steps and into a dark cave. Then you blacked out.
The Servant of a Vampire
Part 2
You woke up, groaning. Everything ached. You sat up slowly and coughed hoarsely. You need water. You sat up and shakily stumbled around. Now that the adrenaline has worn off you can feel every bone in your body. You distinctly heard water tinkling somewhere and followed the sound, walking deeper into the cave. You have a feeling you would need to take a four days off. Two days to get your strength back and two to get your hearing back.
You saw a little stream and knelt down to drink from it. You cupped the water in your hands and drank it quickly. You heard snarling and turned around quickly to see a drowner behind you. You raised your hands slowly.
"I'm not a vampire..." You said slowly. "I'm human..."
The drowner tilted its head and walked forwards to get a better look at you. Then it crouched and scratches at the rocky floor. You crouched and frowned. A. Q. I. E.
"Aqie?" You asked and the drowner nodded. You smiled softly. Who knew that you'd be making friends with a drowner named Aqie. "I'm *Name*. My parents were killed. What happens to humans if they get caught?"
Aqie scratched a bit more on the floor. T. H. E. Y. G. E. T. K. I. L. L. E. D. O. R. T. H. E. Y. B. E. C. O. M. E. S. L. A. V. E. S. You groaned.
"Great. I need food though." You muttered.
The drowner held up a finger and then dashed off. You frowned and stood.
"Hey! Where are you going?" You asked but Aqie was already gone.
You sat down and huffed. Then drank a bit more water. The water was cold yet delicious. Finally hydrated enough you explored the cave for a bit. There was nothing really that special in the cave so you went back to the spot where you met Aqie. Aqie was back and it was crouched on the ground. A couple dead fish was in front of it. You blinked, surprised.
"Did you... Get fish for me?" You asked in surprise.
Aqie nodded. You frowned and sat down, grabbing one. It was salmon. You pushed the other fish, which was trout, towards Aqie.
"Eat. Please." You said quietly.
Aqie looked at you with narrowed eyes. It picked up the salmon and ate it carefully for a bit then ate it. You enjoyed the drowners company. You really did. When you finally finished you put the bones in a pile and stretched.
"So Aqie. What are you doing here in the cave?" You asked.
Aqie scratched its answer on the floor and continued to eat the bones.
They kill the monsters.
You swore. "Wow. Just... Wow." You said, shocked.
It nodded sadly and grabbed a bone from your bone pile. You leaned back and pulled your knees to your chest, hugging them. You stared at a wall and thought of your family. If you arrived earlier, if you had just taken the threat seriously, then your parents would be alive. They were the only family you had. (If you have siblings we'll say they are in... Oxenfurt? Protesting elven and other magical creatures rights?) You heard Aqie scratching something on the ground and looked at what he was going to say.
You okay?
You shook your head. "No. I miss my parents. Yesterday was my birthday."
Aqie made a sound that sounded like a sympathetic half growl, half purr.
I'm sorry.
You shook your head. "It's fine."
You yawned. "I'm going to have to sleep now."
Aqie nodded and moved away from you. It waved goodbye and left. You were gonna miss the drowner. You curled up and fell asleep.
Day one inside a cave was hard. When you woke up you thought of what you were going to do, what you were going to eat and how you were going to survive. First things first: Water. You knew the cave water would not be adequate enough. You stood and groaned in pain when your knees protested.
You shuffled around the cave for a bit, finding an exit. When you found one you sighed heavily. There were huge rocky steps leading to the open air. This really was a shitty week. You muttered to yourself a few choice words for the vampires, especially the one who has decided that he would like to take over Toussaint, that would make your mother faint in shock and your father yell at you for a bit. Then you jumped up and grabbed the edge of one ledge and pulled yourself up.
Regis:
"Regis." Geralt started.
Regis sighed. "No Geralt. We will not be discussing plans on how to kill Dettlaff."
"But he's gone mad! Rogue!" Geralt protested.
"Actually no. He's just... How do I say this? He's lost his shit." Regis didn't even look up from his book but he knew Geralt was pacing. "Stop pacing. You'll wear a hole in the rocky floors of Tesham Mutna."
He heard Geralt stop for a minute then continued. There would be probably one way to stop him. He put his book down, stood up and turned to mist for a brief second only to reappear in front of Geralt. He grabbed the Witchers shirt and shoved him against a wall then put his face real close to Geralt's.
"Will you please stop?" He asked, giving Geralt puppy eyes.
Geralt froze and he made the face of a deer in front of a fast-moving cart. A blush crept up his neck and stained his cheeks and Regis chuckled. He let go of Geralt's shirt and misted back to his chair, picking up his book and resuming the book.
"That's what I thought? Don't worry. Destiny is going to help." He told Geralt.
Geralt frowned. "How so?"
"Well..." Regis wasn't sure how to explain what happened about 23 years ago. "Just... Have Faith."
Geralt grumbled a few choice words about destiny and faith and sat down on the ground with his arms crossed. Regis peeked over the edge of the book and chuckled when he saw the pout on Geralt's lips. The Witcher is unbelievably adorable. The vampire continued to read.
Yes. I'm making y'all 23. I'm sorry guys. I really am.
The Servant of a Vampire Part 3
You had now been walking around for a while, slowly losing hope. There'd be no way you would ever survive in Toussaint. You stumbled into a clearing and groaned in exhaustion. This... Is... Crap...
"Hey. A human!" A voice yelled.
You snapped your head up. A group of bandits were chilling in front of you, a small fire in front of them. You raised your hands and shuffled backwards. These guys could be cannibals. The bandits all cheered and one stood up. He didn't have a knife in his hand nor did he have a crazy look in his eyes. His smile was kind, tired.
"Don't worry, friend. We're all in this together." He said gently. "I'm Eevra. This is Vincent and that over there is Samuel. We have others but they're tending to the wounded."
You hesitated and looked at the outstretched hand. He was... Being kind? You slowly shook his hand.
"*Name*." You looked around. "Where am I?"
Eevra shrugged. "Nowhere. In Toussaint. Somewhere in the forest."
You sighed and looked up. You saw Delenfer Pass and your hope rose up. You will get out of here! You will get out of Toussaint! Eevra put a hand on your shoulder and you startled.
"Come. Have something to eat. You look exhausted." He pushed you towards the camp fire gently and you saw a rabbit roasting on a stick.
You crouched and took a bit of the rabbit, sniffed it then tore a piece of meat off with your teeth. You chewed for a bit and swallowed then chewed another bit. Vincent, a chubby looking guy with a mop of blonde hair and blue eyes, smiled.
"Where ye goin'?" He asked.
You swallowed the meat. "Delenfer Pass. Need to get out."
Everybody looked at each other and then laughed. It was loud and echoed around the clearing, making you think that you guys would be spotted and taken by vampires. Vincent gave you a mean smile.
"Listen here, mate. Ye can't get out of Toussaint. The Blood suckers made sure of that." When you frowned he chuckled. "In other words: Delenfer Pass is guarded."
You swore quietly and looked at the ground. Well that plan got chucked out the window. Now what? Eevra pat your shoulder.
"Don't worry, *Name*. You'll be fine. Just stay with us and we'll take care of you." He said in a gentle voice.
You smiled at him and ate the rest of the rabbit. You, Eevra and Samuel, who was a skinny tall man with a bald patch in his hair and narrow eyes, talked and you got to know each other. You learned that Eevra took old women and injured people under his wing. There was a woman named Nettle who was sick and the medicine she required was in Beauclair.
You offered that you could go to Beauclair and Eevra thanked you for that. Samuel tried to tell you that it would be dangerous but you waved that warning away, telling him that you didn't have much of a reason to exist. Your parents were dead and you had not much of an idea of what to do. (Perhaps join your siblings in Oxenfurt if you have siblings).
"Now that's depressing. Besides. A pretty lass like ye will be the Kings Whore. I tell ye that *Name*. Watch and learn." Vincent scoffed, interrupting the conversation.
You scowled at him. "What's his problem?" You asked Samuel, pointing a thumb at Vincent.
"Unsure. He is from Skellige and hasn't told us much about his old life." Samuel said and you sighed then yawned. "Take my tent."
You frowned. "You sure?"
Samuel nodded, his brown hair swinging a little. "I'm sure. I've got night shift."
You thanked him and stood up. You went to the tent and curled up on the ground, not wanting to sleep on the straw mattress because you didn't want to intrude. With the memory of your parents death in your mind, you went to sleep dreaming of a vampire with black hair slicked back and icy blue eyes. A vampire that stared at you coldly. A vampire that looked creepy...
'Speak, Vampire! Tell us what you want!'
'I invoke the Law of Surprise!'
The Servant of a Vampire Part 4
You were poking the dirt with a stick when you heard the cries of a woman. It was loud and full of pain. You winced and sympathised for Nettle. You have to get the medications. You have to! Then you remembered an insanely good pain herb for numbing the pain. Thanks to your good friend, Regis, he helped you understand alchemy so you could understand Robbie, who was an elven friend of yours and loved alchemy and would literally rant about it. You got up and looked at Eevra.
"I might have an idea on how to numb Nettle's pain." You told him. "I will need a few men to at least watch my back."
Eevra nodded and clicked his fingers at Samuel and a guy. "Samuel! Lachlan! C'mon! You're going with *Name* to help them get something for Nettle."
Samuel and Lachlan nodded then stood up. They walked to You and crossed there arms.
"Okay *Name*. Where are we going?" Lachlan asked You.
You swallowed. "Please. Trust me and follow me."
Eevra put something in your hand. "Be careful." He whispered. "And if you ever get separated from us then fare well and be safe on the Path."
You nod and walked out of the clearing, Lachlan and Samuel following. You walked for a bit in silence, but You were grateful for the silence. It got you to think. You'd need to go to Mere La-Chaiselongue Cemetery and steal a few herbs from Regis's desk. Hopefully he won't be mad at you for doing so. Hopefully he could have a pain killer or two though. The three of you were uninterrupted and it made you think that it was a normal day. That it will be a normal day.
You got to the cemetery and Lachlan stopped breathing.
"*Name*..." He squeaked out. "This is close to Beauclair."
You nodded. "I know. But my dear friend, who was a barber surgeon, might have a few stuff here." You turned to them. "You can stay out here but I have to go inside. I want to help Nettle."
They nodded and turned around to protect you. You went inside and the noise from outside just went dead silent. You shivered, despite the warm air, and walked down the hall. When you got to the huge room of the crypt you frowned. It looked the same. Bookshelves were still pushed against every wall Regis could see and the stairs that led up to his little room were also still there. You ascended up the stairs and breathed a sigh of relief when you saw a few vials of pain killers sitting on top of a note.
You took the vials and put them in your pocket then grabbed the note to read it.
*Name*,
You stupid, stupid idiot. You should know that by coming here to steal my medical items that you'd be smelt by vampires. But since there are vampires in Toussaint and since they have taken over Toussaint then I'd like to tell you something on this piece of paper.
I haven't been completely honest with you. You see... I'm a Higher Vampire. In other words I'm a much more intelligent version of vampires. I can blend in with humans and have insane regeneration abilities.
If you ever want to find me, find me at Tesham Mutna. I'll protect you. Just holler. I'll hear you. From your friend,
Regis.
Holy shit... You didn't expect Regis to be a Vampire! He was way too kind and a barber surgeon! A barber surgeon! You shook your head to clear your thoughts and tucked the piece of paper into your pocket. You'll think on this one. You walked down the stairs and into the hall only to hear fighting and screaming. Oh shit. You got out of the crypt and saw Lachlan fighting two vampires. Samuel was nowhere to be seen. His strength was waning and you knew he wouldn't survive much longer. You grabbed the pain killers.
"Lachlan!" You yelled and he turned to you. "Take these and go! I'll distract them!"
You threw the vials at him and he caught them. Then he took off running like a madman. You ran for a bit to cover some distance then turned to the vampires. You whistled.
"Hey! Whoresons! I'm right here! A tasty snack or a good looking servant! C'mon!" You yelled and turned to continue running.
Your barefeet ached when they hit the dirt and you heard the vampires chase after you. Oh fuck. Oh fuck. Oh fuck! This was the craziest thing you've ever done! You ran into Beauclair and took a left turn. The vampires hissed and you heard a whooshing sound. That vampire better not appear in front of you.
Suddenly you remembered the game you used to play with Robbie. You ran to the nearest house and climbed it. Hide and seek was always interesting. Especially when you were the Hider. You'd always go onto roofs and run on them, hiding behind chimneys and laughing as Robbie tried to find you. When you got onto the roof you kept running. You saw a huge gap and jumped, your arms going round and round. Then you landed on the roof in a crouch and kept going.
You had no time to stop. No time to catch your breath. You just had to keep going. If someone told you years ago that you would have gotten a couple of vampires chasing after you in Beauclair and a vampire ruled Toussaint you'd just laugh in their face. You heard a scream and got pushed forwards. Then you were falling. Falling. Falling. A man caught you in his arms.
"Got them!" He yelled to the vampires. "Sorry but it's part of my job."
Then he knocked you out.
You woke up in a wooden carriage. There were no windows and you had a group of girls in front of you. They were wearing a dress that was red and went to their ankles. The dress's necklines were deep and there was a slit from ankle to thigh on the skirt part. A thick leather band was tied to the girls necks and the girls were chained together.
"They're awake." One girl whispered.
"How you feeling?" One asked.
"Like shit." You groaned and looked down. "Who dressed me?"
"A former knight named Guillaume." The girl who asked you how you were feeling said to you.
"Former?" You made a face.
"Yes. He's now the Protector of the Vamp-King." Another girl said.
"Oh... Crap."
You didn't really swear this much but in circumstances like these you did now. The girls sighed and looked outside. You decided to try to make them feel better.
"Brighten up girls. Even though we'd have masters at least we have hope that this blood sucker will go away." You said cheerfully.
The girls shook their heads. "The King wants a servant. A girl."
You were shocked into silence. After a while you said, "Damn."
The girls nodded and the cart stopped. The doors were thrown open and the guard who caught you earlier was standing in front of you.
"Let's go girls. Come on! Single file." He demanded. "Head down. Don't look at the King. Speak when you're spoken to."
Yeah nah. Fuck those rules. Fuck the King. He isn't even the King of Toussaint. You all marched towards the palace. The girls had their head low and your head was held high. When you got inside you were expecting to smell blood and fear. But nope. It smells sweet. Like wine and flowers.
Guillaume took you to the Throne room and ordered you to sit on the floor on your knees and to keep your head low. When you sat down you kept your head held high. Let this motherfucker know that he's not the one in charge. You are. Guillaume pushed your head down but you lifted it up. The sound of a door opening was heard and footsteps echoed around the room. The first impression you got of this man was his smell. He had the Nazairi cologne and he radiated an air of superiority, of not giving a damn. Ha. You'll show him what not giving a damn looks like.
Then you saw the vampire. He had black hair slicked back and wore a black trench coat. Underneath the coat was a crimson shirt and on top of his head was a golden crown. He looked at you and a look of interest was seen in his eyes. He crouched down and you kept staring straight ahead. There was no way you'd look him in the eyes.
"What's your name?" He asked.
His voice was deep yet smooth. Your instincts were screaming at you to keep your head low and to answer him but you ignored that. And you also ignored his question. The vampire huffed and stood. Then he walked backwards and forwards for a bit. Finally, he stopped in front of you again. He was silent for a bit and you could tell he was looking at you.
"This one. I'll take this one." He said. "Get rid of the others."
Oh joy...
The Servant of a Vampire Part 5
Trigger warning that I forgot to put in the beginning: A little bit of violence.
Twenty minutes later and you were now following the vampire to his room. He was giving you rules that you weren't listening to.
"Stand there." He said, stopping in a room and pointing at a spot.
You crossed your arms. "No thanks. I'm good."
The Vampire glared at you. "Don't think for one second that you can misbehave."
You scoffed. "And don't think that you can bully me into doing what you want me to do because you're stronger."
The Vampire growled and back handed you sharply across the face. Your head snapped to the side and you made a noise of pain. You lifted your hand to put it on the cheek.
"Damn. Your mother didn't love you or something? Did she not teach you that you should never ever lay a hand on a woman? Like at all." You said.
The Vampire grumbled his breath and grabbed you by the shoulders. He pulled you close to him and lowered his face until his fangs were brushing against your neck. Your eyes widened in fear then pain as he sank his fangs into your neck. Oh shit. This hurts. A lot. When he was done drinking he pushed you away from him and swallowed your blood. Wincing, you stumbled away from him while covering the wound.
"Let that be a warning. Now. What do you call me?" He walked to his cupboard and shrugged his trench coat off.
"Your Royal Assholiness?" You asked.
"You're getting on my last nerve." He growled.
You sighed. "Your Royal Excellency?"
The Vampire turned around and pointed a finger at you. "Don't be a smartass. Were you even listening?"
You shrugged. "Not my fault I wasn't. You're about as interesting as paint drying."
The Vampire glared at you and you glared back. For a while nobody moved. It was just you and the vampire. He sighed.
"Fine. Just call me Dettlaff."
You made a face. "Dettlaff? Who names their kid 'Dettlaff'?"
"A mother who does, in fact, love me." He answered. "Now. Your chores for today are: Prepare a bath for me, mend my clothes, see if they have my dinner ready, clean my room and make my bed." He paced around while giving out orders.
You raised your eyebrows. "Do I look like a maid to you?" You asked him.
Dettlaff turned into a crimson mist, disappearing for a second. He reappeared in front of you.
"What did I say about you being a smartass?"
You lowered your voice to mimic Dettlaff's. "Don't be a smartass."
Dettlaff gave you one last glare before turning around so you wouldn't see the smile on his face. He liked you. He liked your back chatting and your quick comments. Maybe he'll keep you.
"Just go and do your chores." He huffed out.
You shrug. "Sure. Whatever. Cinderella is out."
Dettlaff made a face. Cinder-who?
Preparing a bath for a vampire wasn't that easy. But if he wanted to be a pain in the ass then you'd give him a hot bath. When you came back with the tub you saw Dettlaff was sitting on chair, doing something. You walked over to him to see what he was doing. It was a toy. Master-crafted and exceptionally painted. It would have made any toy maker weep with joy. Dettlaff sensed you were behind him and hid the toy.
"Yes?" He asked.
"Bath is ready." You said, pointing to the bath.
He pushed the chair backwards and you quickly got out of the way. Dettlaff walked towards the tub, got undressed and went into the tub.
"Mend my coat and then look for the bootblack." He ordered and closed his eyes.
You poked your tongue at him and did exactly as he ordered. Although sewing was never really something you could do properly. The last time you tried you stabbed yourself multiple times with the needle. And that is exactly what happened. You winced as the needle went into your thumb for the last time and put the coat away. Dettlaff hadn't gotten out of the tub for a while so he must really like the temperature.
You got up and wandered for a bit. A bruxa asked if you were okay and you asked for the bootblack. She nodded and walked away and you had no choice but to follow her. You walked for a bit until you were at a huge room. In the room were children. Lots and lots of children. Damn. Did Dettlaff take all of these kids from their parents? This vampire is a psycho. A little kid was in the corner, surrounded by every shoe in Beauclair. He was happily scrubbing away, not minding at all. You walked up to him.
"You the bootblack?" You asked and he nodded.
"Good. Dettlaff wanted me to find you for some reason."
"Oh! His Royal Highness probably wanted you to help me. Please. Take a seat and a shoe. There's a lot here and I'm never really finished until 12am!" He said, his accent was a thick Toussaint accent.
You nodded and sat down, picking up a boot and began to scrub. Neither of you said a word. Until he spoke again.
"What's your name Miss?" He asked you.
"Y/N." You answered. "And yours?"
"Dominic." He answered happily.
"And are you here against your will?"
Dominic chuckled and shook his head. "No no no. Master Dettlaff would never do that!"
You nodded, humming. "Sure. And pigs fly."
"No. It's true. Master Dettlaff adores children. It's just... He's gotten hurt by a woman. Like. Really bad."
You scoffed and scrubbed at a stubborn piece of dirt on the boot. "That's no excuse for him taking over Toussaint."
"I actually understand. Maybe you will to." Dominic looked at you and smiled.
You smiled back. The two of you chatted while you worked and you learned a bit more about the kid. You learned that he liked to take walks on the beach when he can and that he likes sweets. You smiled and, when it was time for you to go, Dominic wrapped his arms around your waist.
"I hope I get to see you again! And don't forget: Every heart that's colder than ice can always melt with a bit of love."
You gave Dominic a rub on his head. "I have to go now. See ya around kid."
You walked to the kitchen to see how Dettlaff's dinner was going and they gave you a tray. Then you walked back to the room as slowly as you can, not wanting to spill it. Your mind kept thinking about what Dominic said about Dettlaff and the woman and you wanted to know how bad he got hurt. Maybe that was a lie. You mean, vampires. Falling in love with humans? What's next a pig can fly? When you got to his room Dettlaff was now dressed. He was sitting on a chair, reading.
"Your food." You said.
Dettlaff looked up and smiled. "Thank you."
You walked to him and put the tray down in front of him. Then you continued doing your chores. You cleaned the room, which was already spotless, and made his bed. When you were done you turned to him.
"Is that all?" You asked and he nodded.
"Yes. You can now go and take a rest in that corner. Near my bed."
You rolled your eyes and sat down near the bed, making sure to not get as close as possible to the bed. Although you were still close. You didn't mean to but when you closed your eyes you fell asleep.
The Servant of a Vampire Part 6
You woke up to the sound of a bell tinkling in your ear. You blinked and saw a vampire in front of you, holding a tiny bell in her hand. Dettlaff was still asleep but his arm was near you.
"Good morning. You're making His Royal Highness's breakfast." She said.
You groaned and stood up. The vampire walked away. You stretched, blinked the sleep away from your eyes and shuffled out into the hallway. It was empty. The only people out there were a few sleeping guards and that was it. You walked down the hall and got a little lost on your way to the kitchen. When you got to the kitchen you saw a piece of paper next to a basket of berries. You sighed, walked towards it and took the piece of paper.
"His Royal Pain In The Ass," You muttered to yourself. "Wanted porridge with berries this morning. He also likes tea with a spoonful of honey and no milk."
You rolled the paper into a ball and threw it away from you. You searched around the kitchen for a bit then came upon some nightshade. You grabbed it and frowned.
"Who leaves nightshade in a kitchen where a human could find it?" You muttered to yourself.
You shrugged, clutched the deadly plant and got to work making his breakfast. Then, when you were sure there were no vampires nearby, you crushed the plant and put it into his tea. Then you grabbed the cup and smiled at the liquid.
"Long live the King." You muttered and put the cup onto a metallic tray next to a bowl of porridge.
You grabbed the tray and walked down the hall, keeping your head up and making sure you had a neutral expression. When you got to his room you balanced the tray on one hand and opened the door with the other, entering quietly. Dettlaff was awake and was just finishing buttoning up his shirt. He looked at the food on the tray and grinned toothily.
"Thank you."
"Yeah yeah. Whatever." You grumbled to him.
You put the tray on the table, took the porridge and cup off the tray and onto the table then grabbed the tray. Thank the gods that you found a silver tray. Maybe you could keep it. You clutched the tray, tucked it under your arm and stepped backwards so the vampire could sit down to eat. You knew he had excellent hearing so you managed to calm your heartbeat and not hold your breath. Then he took a sip of his drink.
He spasmed, making choking sounds and grabbing his throat. You grinned, grabbed the door knob and threw the door open. Then you took off running. You ran down a flight of stairs and stopped when you saw a group of vampires in front of you. They mostly just hissed at you. Except for one. The vampire walked towards you and you backed away until your back was close to an open window.
"It's over *Name*. There's no where else to go." It said.
You looked over your shoulder. "Wrong. Goodbye!" You did a two-finger salute and fell out of the window.
The wind roared as you tumbled through the sky. You hit a bush, rolled off it and took off running. You didn't bother to check if you had any injuries. You just ran. Adrenaline pumped through your veins and you kept running. But then you were pushed onto your feet. You winced and tried to stand up but you were thrown over a balustrade. You hit the ground, rolled and went unconscious.
The Servant of a Vampire Part 7
Trigger warning: Bit of violence in this one. I thought that since you might have pissed off Dettlaff, and he's already upset because of what she did to him, that he'd hurt you because his mind is pretty clouded over.
You woke up and groaned in pain. Everything hurt. You blinked and opened your eyes. Then sat up to look around. You were in a room. The walls were a pearly white and there was a fluffy rug placed in the middle of the room. You were lying on a bed with a *Favourite colour* sheet and a yellow blanket.
"You're awake." Someone said next to you.
You jumped and turned your head only to see Dettlaff was sitting in a chair with his arms crossed. He was glaring at you with a displeased look.
"Yeah. Sort of." You muttered and rubbed your eye, wincing.
Dettlaff clicked his tongue and shook his head. "I can't believe that you would even try to hurt me. Kill me in fact."
You snorted. "Right. Sure. So it's alright for you to have a group of vampires and they all start killing everyone, especially my parents. But if I do that it's 'unacceptable'." You did the air quotes for unacceptable.
Dsttlaff ggrabbed your chin and put his face really close to yours. "Don't talk to me like that. Didn't your parents ever teach you not to talk to a King like that?"
You gave him a look, which wasn't easy considering the fact that he had grabbed your chin. "Didn't your mum ever teach you not to be a dick towards other women?"
You didn't see the slap but you felt it. Your head turned to the right really fast and you put a hand on your cheek to soothe it.
"Don't talk about my mother that way!" Dettlaff yelled.
"Okay. Okay. Sorry. Wow." You rubbed the spot. "Talk about being over-emotional..."
You had muttered that last part under your breath, forgetting about Dettlaff and his super hearing. Cause the next thing you knew you were being thrown at a wall. You hit the wall, not too hard luckily, and slid down to the floor. Groaning, you stood up to face Dettlaff but he wasn't there. Where the hell was he? Before you could count to ten or even blink he was behind you. Dettlaff grabbed you by the shoulders, put his head close to your neck and bit down. You cried out in pain.
He drank your blood for a bit then took his teeth out from your neck.
"Since you humans are so selfish and thoughtless and incompetent you're going to help me." He muttered, the scent of your blood wafting to your nose.
You scrunched your nose. "Help you? How?" You said weakly.
"You're going to help me understand that not all humans are shit. Can you do that?" He placed his head on your shoulder and looked at you.
You wanted to say 'no'. You really did. But the blue in his eyes were so... Hypnotising. They drew you in towards the darkest depths of Dettlaff's mind and wouldn't take you out.
"Yes." You heard yourself say.
"Splendid!" Dettlaff grinned and let go of you. "Why don't you go get some rest? You've had such a big day."
He then left. You stayed there on the floor for about twenty minutes wondering what the fuck you got yourself into. Helping Dettlaff? Realise that not all humans are shit? Damn. Who hurt him this bad? Your head spun and you needed sleep so you got up and stumbled to the bed, falling onto it sideways and going to sleep.
The Servant of a Vampire Part 8.
You stood in the Throne Room, wearing a bright *Least favourite colour* dress. This colour was horrible! Terrible! You scowled and glared at the empty throne. You hated Dettlaff. Hated him for what he did. Hated him for taking over Toussaint. You heard footsteps behind you but didn't bother to turn around.
"Turn around when you know a King is behind you." Dettlaff's smooth voice commanded.
You poked your tongue out just a little then put it back in. Then turned around. You curtsied. "Your Majesty." You said with zero emotion.
Dettlaff smiled. "You're learning fast."
You straightened out of your curtsy. "Is there anything I can do for you sir?" You asked.
Dettlaff frowned. "Hmm. Perhaps there is." He gave you his arm. "Let's go for a walk in the gardens. It is dreadfully dull when walking on your own with only your thoughts to accompany you."
You took his arm with a look of disgust and he started walking out of the room. You followed him. The gardens were nice but the flowers looked sad. You gave the plants a sympathetic look and kept on walking. The two of you walked at a slow pace, probably to enjoy the evening. But you were still angry at him. You always will be. He's the reason your parents are dead.
"Tell me," Dettlaff said, breaking the nice silence. "What's your name?"
You remained silent. Dettlaff gave you a look.
"What is your name?" He growled out.
"*Name*. My name is *Name*." You answered.
Dettlaff smiled. "And where are you from?"
"Originally? A farm somewhere in Toussaint. But then Ma and Pa have climbed up the status ladder and are now noble people who lived in an estate."
Dettlaff nodded. "Interesting."
After a while of walking he slipped his arm out of your hand. He turned to you and bowed.
"Enjoy your evening, *Name*." He said with a smile then left.
You rolled your eyes. "And I'm going to find out more about this woman that hurt you."
You asked around for a while about where he used to live and, after about thirty minutes, you found yourself standing in front of a warehouse.
"Hm. A vampire who is now living in luxury once lived in a warehouse." You mused to yourself and opened the door.
Before you stepped into the warehouse you glanced up at the sign. It was of a rocking horse and made of wood as well. The words 'The Rocking Horse' were painted in cursive on the sign. You raised your eyebrows and went inside. The place was huge and the floor was made of dark hardwood. Toys were placed on shelves, which were pushed against every wall. You took a deep breath in and the faint smell of Nazairi cologne lingered in the air. He definitely used to live here.
You spotted a flight of stairs and climbed them one at a time. Slowly in fact, so as to not disturb the clouds of dust. When you got to the attic you looked around. A bed was pushed against the opposite wall and a drawing of a woman was above the bed. You walked forward and placed your hand on the drawing. Suddenly your fingers felt hot and your veins tingled. You widened your eyes as your head became lighter.
'Oh Dettlaff. You're so hilarious!'
You shook your head from the woman's voice and blinked. That... Never actually happened before. Then your head lightened once again.
'I love you... Rhen.'
That was definitely Dettlaff. You heard his voice, sensed his aura. You took your hand off the drawing and continued to look around. You saw a jewellery box and opened it. Then your fingertips grew hot once again and your veins started to buzz.
The grief that hit your heart was the worst feeling ever. You choked on the feeling and clutched at your heart, trying to calm it down. The music moved around you and you heard a woman's laughter. You smelt her hair. Saw the blue of her eyes. Tears pricked at the corner of your eyes and you took your hand off the box to wipe them away. Then the grief was gone.
"Fuck... What the fuck was that?" You muttered to yourself and rubbed at your heart.
You looked around some more. Finally you spotted pieces of paper. You grabbed the first one and read it out loud.
"Dettlaff Van der Eretein, you do not know, us but we know you... To be a Vampire. We know also of your weakness for the wrench they call Rhenawedd. Now you know this. We shall chain her down and let rats feed on her. We shall flay the skin from her flesh... Yet you can save her. You need but travel to Beauclair, where you shall slay five men in the manner we prescribe." You crunched the edge of the paper in your hand and kept on reading. "You must complete the killing in three days. Fail, and the next letter you receive will contain a memento of your failure - your beloved's finger."
You crumpled up the paper in your hand. Who was this stupid to blackmail a fucking vampire?! Were they even thinking straight or did they have a few loose screws in their head?! Fuck... The shit that humans get up to to get themselves in danger...
The Servant of a Vampire Part 9
Short chapter! But we're finally getting into the story.
Trigger warnings: Violence. Some depressing stuff as well in the next chapter.
You couldn't sleep at all. You were lying on your back, on a floor and in a bedroom that is connected to Dettlaff's room. But you couldn't. Frickin. Sleep. You sighed and shifted a little bit, not wanting to get up from the cold, hardwood floor. Did his beloved get killed? Is that what happened? And what happened when you touched his stuff? You sighed and closed your eyes. Sleep. Sleep. Sleep. You told yourself quietly. But sleep wouldn't come. It was around 5.30am when Dettlaff found you on the floor, eyes wide open.
"We're you awake for the whole night?" He asked you.
You sat up and shrugged. "Yeah." You stood, stretched and yawned. "What do you want?"
"I want you to go to the forest and get some berries. Preferably raspberries." He looked at you for a bit longer then walked away.
You sighed and got ready for the day. You pulled a white blouse on then a brown, spaghetti strapped ankle length dress. Finally you combed your hair (If you have long hair then you're putting it into a low bun) then you walked out. A red-headed vampire gave you a basket and left you alone. At least you were allowed to take a walk. You needed to think.
When you got out of the palace the first thing that struck you as odd was the amount of humans around. They now wandered around the place, doing their business and being normal. Some were even cleaning Beauclair up. This was strange. Since when did humans come back to Beauclair and why was everything suddenly normal? You shook your head and continued walking. Some people waved and others said hi. The sounds of market surrounded you.
"Fresh fish! Fresh fish! Come get your fresh fish today!"
"A lovely scarf for the ladies! A lovely jacket for the gents! C'mon! Winter is coming! And none of us want to freeze!"
"Reginald d'Aubry is here today! Come get your tickets now and pay later!"
"New house on the market! New house on the market! A huge mansion for the price of 4000 crowns!"
You smiled softly at the sound of normalcy. You missed it so much that your ears even got better hearing.
"Mum? What happened to the Rocking Horse?" A child quietly asked his mother nearby.
"I'm not sure. Just play in the puddles okay?" The mother answered.
Suddenly your ears picked up the sound of footsteps behind you. That couldn't be good. You picked up the pace and turned a corner, only to corner yourself in an alley. You turned around and saw a group of thugs, all of them were holding a club. A vampire was behind them, naked.
"There! That's the one! She wanted to kill the King! Please kind sirs! Teach her a lesson!" She cried and pointed at you.
You were confused. You dropped the basket and slowly put your hands up, your eyes widening as the thugs moved closer with a grin.
"Kind gentlemen. There's been a misunderstanding. I've never wanted to-"
A thug hit you with a club and you fell to the ground, hitting your head. Your head spun and a ringing was heard in your ears. You screamed when another thug kicked you in the sides. And they beat you up for a while. Finally, they left you. You coughed and tried to get up but your arms shook so much that you fell back onto the ground. You coughed again and spat out blood on the ground.
The Vampire walked to you with a scowl. She bent down and lowered her head to your ear. "This is what happens when you don't talk to the King with respect. (If you have siblings: If you continue to not obey the King then I'll hunt your siblings down and kill them.)" She chuckled. "Your choice."
She stood and walked out, swinging her hips while doing so. Then blackness took over and you blacked out.
That's all the violence I'm doing to you guys.
The Servant of a Vampire Part 10.
You groaned and opened your eyes. The sound of seagulls screeching met your ears and you flinched. Everything hurt. You sighed and stayed there. On the floor. In an alley. The cobbled floor was comforting and cool and it was practically begging for you to stay. But you couldn't. With a sigh you got up, slowly and carefully of course, and shuffled out of the alley with a hand on your side. The thugs must've bruised your ribs or something.
You limped down the streets and got out of Beauclair. You have a job to finish and nothing will stop you from finishing it.
Three hours later and you were walking back from the forest with a basket full of raspberries and blackberries. The smell of Beauclair assaulted your nose and you sneezed when you breathed in the heavy perfume. You must have some kind of allergy to the perfume because every time you walked into Beauclair you sneezed. You saw the vampire from earlier and she scowled at you. You returned the look and walked towards the palace with a limp. Your ribs were killing you and you needed to vomit.
You coughed, put the basket on a bench and turned to a bed of flowers before emptying your stomach of the water you drank from the forest. When you were finished you wiped your mouth before grabbing the basket and continuing to the palace.
When you got to the palace you sighed. "Where's the King?" You asked a nearby knight.
"Waiting for you. He hasn't slept at all last night." He said.
You sighed. "Helpful. Thanks." You muttered sarcastically then limped down the hall.
You'll have to wash up before trying to find Dettlaff. After all... You groaned in pain and entered the kitchen. The kitchen was empty so you put the basket down on a bench and put your hands on the edge of the maid's dining table. Tears brimmed at the corners of your eyes and you grabbed a nearby silver goblet. You clutched it and, with a scream of anger, you threw it at the wall. The goblet bounced off the wall and hit the marble floor.
You fell to your knees, ignoring the pain in your knees, and gripped your hair with both hands. Tears rolled down your eyes but you made no attempt to get rid of them.
It's so stupid! Unfair! (If you have siblings: It's unfair and stupid that your siblings would die all because you weren't being an obedient servant.) Thoughts of ending your life raced through your head and you squeezed your eyes closed.
"Shut up." You growled quietly. "Shut up. Shut up. Shut up!"
Dettlaff:
Dettlaff was worried for *Name*. They haven't come back to the palace and he was scared that something had happened to them. He paced the room again, biting on his nails. An image of their *Hair length* *Hair colour* hair flashed through his mind and he could smell the soap that was washed into it before they became his servant. He groaned and told himself that he was worried because the berries he had requested weren't here. And that they were late.
Suddenly he heard someone yelling in the kitchen so he left his room and headed to the kitchen to investigate. When he got to the kitchen his heart broke at the sight of *Name* crying on the floor, clutching their hair with their hands. Did he go too far? He shook his head and crossed his arms leaned against the wall and cleared his throat.
You:
You jumped and turned around. Dettlaff was leaning against the door frame with his arms crossed and a look on his face. You couldn't read his expression. You quickly wiped your eyes and stood up, curtseying clumsily.
"Your Majesty." You said.
"Where were you?" He asked.
You panicked. He can't know that a vampire lied to a gang of thugs and made them beat you up. You cleared your throat, straightened and looked down.
"I got lost." You lied smoothly.
Your mother has always told you that you were a good liar. And apparently Dettlaff has bought it since he sighed and nodded.
"Unacceptable but I'll allow this one to slide. Now go. You're free to do whatever you want." He said.
You nodded and ran out of the room. You kept your head lowered as you ran down the halls.
Dettlaff:
*Name* was lying. They had bruises and cuts on their face and their dress was torn. Dettlaff clenched his teeth and extended his claws a little bit. Whoever did this shall pay! No-one hurts *Name*! Nobody!
The Servant of a Vampire Part 11
Short chapter. Mostly for the dramatics.
Dettlaff did say that you were allowed to do whatever you wanted so you decided to continue your investigation on his Rhenawedd. You wanted to know what happened to her. After doing some research you found yourself in front of a set of ruins. Tesham Mutna. Now what you were going to do here is beyond you but you'll figure something out. You walked around, keeping your eyes on the ground. Sometimes a curious crow would fly closer to you. Curious crow. You laughed quietly and thought of how Regis would've responded to that. You missed him and you wondered how he was going. When you got to a certain part of the ruins you stopped.
Your toes started to tingle and so did your fingertips. You had a feeling it was time to do some of that weird magical stuff so you knelt down and put your hands on the ground.
"In forgiving you I grieve. For now we must part."
You felt a stab of grief and gasped. You closed your eyes and saw a romantic view of Nazair. The sun was setting, giving the sky lovely hues of orange, red and pink. Dettlaff was sitting on the edge of a dock, swinging his legs and nervously biting his lip. In his right hand were a bunch of blue roses. You heard footsteps and turned around and so did Dettlaff. He gasped in shock and you had to agree that Rhenawedd did look beautiful. Her hair fell to her shoulders in waves and her eyelids were covered in an amethyst purple powder. Her lips were painted in pink and she wore a red dress with black lace on the hem and sleeves. She smiled at Dettlaff.
"Had a feeling this was going to be a date so I wore a dress. Do you like it?" She spun around and the dress flared outwards.
Dettlaff smiled. "I do. I actually love it. You... You look so beautiful." He gazed at the setting sun and then turned his head back to Rhenawedd. "Come. Sit. I wanted to enjoy a romantic sunset with you and perhaps we can go back to my place."
Rhenawedd smiled and walked to him. She sat down, curled up against Dettlaff and the vampire wrapped an arm around her shoulders. His lover put her head on his shoulder and they watched the sunset...
You gasped again, but this time it was for fresh air. Another stab of grief combined with a strong feeling of anger and hatred and you were suddenly writhing on the floor, screaming.
Regis:
Regis and Geralt were curled up on the floor of Tesham Mutna when they suddenly heard your screams. They got up and ran out only to see you screaming bloody murder on the floor. The screams were screams of anger but tears were rolling down her cheeks. Regis flinched and stopped Geralt from checking on her.
"Don't." He said.
"And why not?" Geralt snapped.
Regis looked at Geralt then looked at you then back at Geralt. He looked as if he swallowed a lemon. Finally, he came to a decision.
"Because she is Dettlaff's Destiny. His Soulmate. His future Mate." He said in a dramatic voice.
Geralt was silenced with shock. The only sounds were the cawing of crows and ravens and your screams. Regis sat down and watched over you. Geralt was too stunned to do anything.
You:
"Mmm. A shame."
"What did you do?"
"What I had to do. What she deserved."
Your next vision was in a kitchen. Dettlaff and Rhenawedd were fighting and Dettlaff was crying.
"I thought you loved me!" Rhenawedd yelled while waving a bunch of yellow flowers like a mad woman.
"I do Rhen! I do!" Dettlaff yelled back through tears.
Rhenawedd threw the flowers at him. "Then what the fuck is this?!" She screamed and Dettlaff flinched, letting the flowers hit him. "I expected more for our anniversary!"
Dettlaff choked back a sob. "I don't have much money." He pleaded. "Please Rhen. You have to understand."
Rhenawedd scoffed. "I expected more from a beast like you. But it turns out that you're not even close to a vampire." She said with a sneer. "I wish to be alone."
Dettlaff watched her leave with a sad look on his face. You wanted to hug him so badly. So so badly. But you were entirely sure that he wouldn't appreciate a hug from a human like you.
You arched your back, screamed once more then the screams died down. And for the second time that week you blacked out...
The Servant of a Vampire Part 12
Short chapter cause Regis is explaining. And I don't know what to put in here.
"I want a bloody explanation Regis!" Geralt snapped and sat down next to Regis.
Regis sighed but kept his eyes on you. (In this Fanfic I'm making y'all 23.) "25 years ago *Name*'s mother and father had their wedding. Little did they know was that two miracles would happen. So anyway, a jealous friend of *Mothers name* wanted to kill her because she took the man she liked. She tried to kill her but Dettlaff's mother saved her. After that they promised Dettlaff to *Name*. Ballads were composed weeks later about the potential Mate of a vampire." He explained.
Geralt stuttered for a bit. "But... They're human!"
"Not exactly. Since they're soulmates with Dettlaff they have now got the lifespan of a vampire. Their souls and hearts are bound together."
"Well... After what happened with Syanna Dettlaff would definitely not want her!" Geralt wasn't entirely sure about this. A human. And a vampire. Bonded for life?!
Regis smiled. "Heard of the stories where love came quickly?" He asked and Geralt nodded.
"Yeah. It's stupid." He grumbled and Regis chuckled.
"Oh Geralt... Geralt Geralt Geralt." He muttered and rubbed Geralt's leg. "Anyway. Since they're bonded love will come quickly."
Geralt blinked and grabbed Regis's hand. He muttered under his breath about soulmates and Mates and vampires and humans bonding together before shutting up and watching you sleep, not in a creepy way.
The Servant of a Vampire Part 13
I'm so excited for Part 16 y'all! I can't wait to make it cause then we're gonna go for nice and sweet.
You woke up gasping for air. Everything hurt and you were sure you were going to have a headache for three days. You groaned and sat up, or tried to.
"Careful." A soft voice said quietly.
You blinked and looked up to see Regis in front of you. He was smiling. You laughed with joy and tackled him. You wrapped your arms around him, smiling with joy.
"Regis!" You said with joy and relief.
Regis chuckled and patted you on the back. "Good to see you too. Good to see you too."
Someone cleared their throat behind Regis and you looked up to see a man. He had white hair pulled back into a ponytail and a duck chin with a moustache. He had his eyebrows raised and you got off Regis.
"Who is he?" You asked.
"Oh. Geralt. This is my good friend *Name*. *Name*, meet Geralt. He is a Witcher." Regis introduced and you held out your hand for him to shake.
"Nice to meet you." You said politely.
"Likewise." Geralt said, shaking your hand.
"So. What were you up to when Geralt and I were cowering in Tesham Mutna?" Regis asked with a smile.
You laughed quietly. "Oh gods... That'll be a very long story." You muttered under your breath.
"And I have a feeling this story isn't finished." Regis said with amusement.
"We have time." Geralt said and leaned against a wall.
"Well..." You said. "Okay. So when I found a vampire having my parents as lunch I ran away. I got into this forest and got knocked out."
And so you told them about your adventure. You told them about Aqie the drowner, about leaving the cave and stumbling upon a group of bandits, of having to go to Mere La-Chaiselongue Cemetery to get medicine for Nettle but then you got caught (Geralt chuckled at the rooftop running part) and then becoming Dettlaff's slave.
When you mentioned being his slave Regus had a proud smile while Geralt looked like he'd been slapped with a fish. You looked at Regis with a frown.
"You need help of some kind. Why are you looking proud?" You asked.
Regis shrugged. "No reason." He glanced at the setting sun. "You'll have to go back. Dettlaff will be worried."
You honestly forgot he existed. You sighed and got up then stretched. You gave Regis one last pat on the head then turned to Geralt.
"Treat him right. If you two ever get married, invite me."
Then you walked away.
When you got back to the palace Dettlaff ran to you.
"Where were you?" He growled.
"Went for a walk. Fell asleep." You shrugged, giving him the half lie.
Dettlaff sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Alright. Fine. Just. Wash up. Have breakfast then go visit Dominic. He misses you."
You curtsied and ran off to do his orders. You washed your face then went to the kitchen to eat the breakfast Dettlaff left out for you. It was delicious. It had the taste of Nazair and smelt like that recipe your mother tried once. What was it called? Cinnamon pancakes? You sighed and finished then stood. A wave of dizziness hit you and you swayed, grabbing the edge of the table.
"Rhen! Where were you? I was so worried."
"A group of bandits attacked me. They... They raped me Dettlaff!"
"Shh... Shh. I'll get you a bath and then I'll make you pancakes. Okay?"
"I'm so glad you only make your favourite Nazairi food for me."
"Only for you. For the pancakes symbolise love and friendship in Nazair."
"I love you. But I'm not hungry."
"But you-"
"I just want to be with you. Mon cheri."
You blinked and opened your eyes. Your head was pounding with another headache and you stumbled out of the kitchen and down the hall. You went to the playroom and smiled when you saw Dominic. He was scrubbing shoes once again. You walked up to him.
"Guess all work and no play?" You said in a light tone.
Dominic looked up and grinned. "*Name*!" He jumped up and gave you a hug.
You chuckled and rubbed his hair. "Hey little guy."
Dominic let go of you and grabbed your hand. He dragged you to his spot and chatted quickly and excitedly about his day.
"Dettlaff gave me pancakes today! And! He said he was gonna adopt me! And he was very worried about you! And! And! And!"
"Calm down." You said.
Dominic turned to you. "I want to adopt you as a mother." He announced.
You were shocked. "Adopt?"
He nodded.
"Me?"
Another nod. You sat down and huffed with shock. Wow. A kid wants to adopt you. You grinned. You always wanted a kid. You looked up at him and nodded.
"Sure."
Dominic hugged you tightly. "Yay!"
You smiled and hugged him back. Then he let go of you. Dominic then proceeded to tell you everything about his day and you listened with interest.
The Servant of a Vampire Part 14
The following Parts are inspired by whatever I remember from Beauty and the Beast (Original version). Enjoy!
Dettlaff watched you talking to Dominic with a smile on his face. He leaned against the door frame and crossed his arms, not even taking his eyes off you. He swore to protect you. And he'll keep that promise. Then he got an idea. He may not know how to rule humans but you would. He cleared his throat.
"*Name*!" He called out.
You:
You were looking at Dominic's drawings with interest. Soon he would draw like a professional. When you heard Dettlaff calling your name you jumped and looked around. You looked back at Dominic and grinned.
"Duty calls." You said apologetically.
Dominic pouted. "Oh. I was having fun." He whined and then sighed. He stood up and hugged you. "Bye Ma."
You were so going to have to get used to him calling you 'Ma'. You gave him a pat on the head and stood up. You turned and walked to Dettlaff.
"Yes?"
"The people... I'm confused on how to rule Toussaint." Dettlaff said.
Now that was a surprise. You blinked. "And you want my help?" You asked slowly.
He nodded. You frowned and thought about the advice you should give Dettlaff. Then you got it.
"First things first the whole 'Humans are Slaves to Vampires' has to go. Then I'll think of something else." You said.
He nodded and smiled. "I'll tell the vampires to leave the humans be." He then looked at the ground with a frown, probably contemplating something. "I'll also give you your own room. Next to mine of course but not connected."
You smiled and curtsied gently. "Thank you."
The vampire who lied to the bandits:
Brenda watched Dettlaff and you talking with a scowl. You were stealing Dettlaff from her! She hated that! Then an idea struck her. Her lips curled into a malicious grin and she stepped into the shadows, letting the shadows conceal her.
Two days later
You were asleep on the most comfortable bed you've ever slept on when you felt someone jump on you.
"Ma! Ma!" Dominic's voice screamed above you.
You opened your eyes and yawned. Dominic kept shaking you. (I'm not a weather expert. I failed in Geography.) You sighed and woke up.
"Yes?" You asked.
"Get up! Get up! Get up!" He screamed. "It's snowing!"
You pushed him off you and got up. You looked at the window and saw snow falling to the ground delicately. You grinned and looked at your adopted son. He was already grabbing a dark red dress with fur on the collar and sleeves out of the cupboard. The collar was high and the dress looked suitable for the weather. He chucked it at you and raced to the door. He stopped and looked at you.
"Get dressed!" He said excitedly, bouncing on the balls of his feet.
You sighed and shooed him out the room. Then you got up and put the dress on. It was comfortable. When you walked out of the room Dominic grabbed your hand and raced down the hall, giggling with glee and joy. You grinned and let him drag you outside. When you were outside Dominic let go of you and ran to a pile of snow. He bent down, grabbed it and rolled it into a ball.
You didn't see what he was doing. You were distracted by the winter wonderland around you. When you felt something wet and cold hit your neck you froze and glared at Dominic, who was laughing. You bent down, grabbed some snow, rolled it into a ball and threw it at him. And that was how your snowball fight started.
Dettlaff:
Dettlaff leaned against the balustrade of his balcony and watched you and Dominic have a snowball fight. He smiled softly. He felt an alp walk up to him from behind but didn't look at her.
"I want to do something for her. But what?" He asked her.
Brenda snorted. "Flowers, chocolates, promises you don't keep."
The alp glared at her blood sister. "Ignore Brenda. Listen to the most romantic idiot." She walked closer to Dettlaff. "Something they'd enjoy. Something like..."
She hummed and then had an idea. She grinned and told Dettlaff her idea. Dettlaff smiled and nodded. Brenda scowled at the idea.
Two hours later and you were standing in front of two, large silver doors with white swirls painted on them. Dettlaff looked at you and smiled gently.
"I... Want to show you something." He said softly.
He grabbed the handles and opened it a little bit then thought of it better. He closed the door and turned to you.
"But first. Close your eyes."
You made a face and he gave you a look that reminded you of a puppy. You sighed and closed your eyes. You heard him open the door and Dettlaff grabbed you by the wrists. He gently led you inside the room then stopped you in what you thought was the middle of the room. Suddenly, blinding light hit your closed your eyes and you turned your head.
"Now." He had a hint of excitement in his tone.
You opened your eyes and gasped. It was a library! A huge library! The ceiling was silver and domed and arched high above your head. Beams supported the ceiling and were painted a rose gold colour. You looked at the walls and found that shelves were carved into the silver walls and books were pushed onto the shelf. The bookshelves towered high above your head and had gorgeous swirly designs etched into them. A staircase with a gold bannister and white marble stairs polished to perfection curved around the room, getting close to the walls so you could grab whatever book you fancy.
You turned around with a smile on your face. "Wow..." You breathed out. "I..."
You turned to Dettlaff who was looking at you with anxiety. You laughed and gave him a hug.
"Thank you!" You said with joy.
Dettlaff smiled softly and hugged you back.
The Servant of a Vampire Part 15
Dettlaff... You couldn't get him out of your mind. You paced the room again and chewed on your nail. You couldn't stop thinking about his kindness. You groaned and clutched at your hair. Hopefully you'll stop thinking of him. Maybe it's nothing. You heard the footsteps of Dominic running down the hall laughing and squealing at the top of his lungs. What the...? You thought to yourself and poked your head out of your room. Dettlaff was chasing after Dominic, who was holding one of Dettlaff's shoes. You laughed quietly and shook your head before closing the door. Kids...
Suddenly you thought of something to repay Dettlaff! You could bake for him! With a smile you left the room and walked down the hall.
Brenda:
Brenda walked up to the group of bandits near Delenfer Pass and smiled.
"Greetings boys." She said.
The bandits cheered and raised bottles of alcohol. "Brenda!" They cheered.
"We missed you." One said.
"Aye. So. What are we doing today?" Another asked.
Brenda grinned. "Getting rid of the person stealing my Dettlaff. What do you say, boys?" She held up a money pouch but they waved the pouch away.
"We're your... What do the vampires call their friend group? Pack? Right. We're your pack Brenda. What you want we get you." The leader said.
"Aye!" The rest agreed.
Brenda smirked. "Brilliant... Here's the plan..."
You:
You dusted your hands off and wiped them on the apron. You looked at the cake in the pan with pride. You weren't that good with baking but you think you did well. You put the pan in the oven and turned around, taking off the apron.
You heard the swishing of fabric against legs and raised an eyebrow. Who wanted to talk to you? The vampire who lied to the thugs walked into the kitchen. You noticed she had black hair that tumbled over her shoulders in curls. She walked up to you.
"You have to leave." She said.
You tilted your head. "Why?"
"The King doesn't want you anymore. Leave. Leave Toussaint." She snarled.
For some reason that hurt. You lowered your head and nodded. "Of course. Bye."
She scowled and you exited the kitchen. You had no belongings so you left Beauclair with nothing but the clothes on your back. Your bare feet ached on the path but you ignored the pain and kept walking. When you got to Delenfer Pass you stopped.
"Ohh. Look at this boys. A lovely little bird is trying to leave Toussaint!" A mean voice said and someone grabbed you from behind, covering your mouth so you wouldn't scream. "Well tough luck bitch. You're not." They whispered in your ear and then they laughed.
Cliffhanger! And dramatics!
The Servant of a Vampire Part 16
Dettlaff:
Dettlaff had finally gotten his shoe back from Dominic and was now walking down the hall. He wanted to find you so he could get more ideas on how to rule Toussaint. He walked to your room and opened the door but you weren't in there. He frowned and wandered around the palace.
"*Name*?" He called but no answer. His heart skipped a beat. "*Name*?"
"Dettlaff. What's wrong?" A voice asked behind him.
Dettlaff turned around to see Brenda. He didn't really like her. Like. At all. He knew she liked him and would do anything to have him.
"Brenda. What did you do to *Name*?!" He growled.
Brenda rolled her eyes. "They're just a human being Dettlaff. Who cares about them? Sooner or later they'll die." She walked towards him. "But me. I live for a long time."
She put her hand on his chest and smiled at him. Dettlaff scowled and pushed her away from him.
"Knights!" He yelled and four knights ran into the kitchen. "Take her away. To the dungeons."
They nodded and tied a silver chain around her. Brenda hissed in pain and struggled against them but to no avail. She looked at Dettlaff.
"Dettlaff. Come on. Don't be ridiculous. You and I are meant to be together." She pleaded but he shook his head.
"No. We're not. Take her away!"
And the guards dragged her down the hall and away from Dettlaff. Dettlaff growled low and punched a hole in the wall. He will not let anybody hurt you! Not ever! He turned into mist and floated out the window and around Toussaint to find you.
You:
Your unknown attacker dragged you to their camp and threw you onto the ground. You landed on your wrist and winced. You looked up at the group of bandits and groaned. There seemed to be around fifty bandits all looking at you with a smile on their face. The leader walked up to you and grabbed your chin. He put his face really close to yours.
"What's your name?" He muttered.
"Why does everybody want to know my name?" You muttered.
The bandit scowled and let go of your chin. He turned to the men. "Okay lads! Let's have our fun with them!" He yelled and the bandits cheered.
Before they took a step closer a deep laughter rumbled around the camp. Everybody froze, including you. Then a crimson mist wafted into the area. It drifted around their feet.
"No. You won't be hurting her." A deep voice said and Dettlaff materialised from the mist. "Because they're mine."
He struck the leader in the chest with his claws and took out his heart. The bandits were shocked so he used that to his advantage. Dettlaff killed most of them but a brave bandit ran to him with a sword and stabbed him in the chest. Dettlaff winced and grabbed the sword, pulling it out. The wound steamed and Dettlaff sliced the bandits head off. He turned to you and stumbled forwards then fainted.
You shuffled backwards and looked at Dettlaff then at Delenfer Pass. You could escape. You could. The exit is right there. All it takes is for you to get up and go. But you couldn't. You stood up and walked to Dettlaff. You had no idea how to get him from here to Beauclair but you'd manage. You know it. You grabbed him by the wrist and dragged him down the path and back to Beauclair.
The Servant of a Vampire Part 17
We get to meet the bitch!
You dipped the rag in the bucket of water, squeezed some of the water out and washed away his blood. Luckily his wound was closing. You sighed and looked at him.
"Oh Dettlaff." You whispered and brushed some hair out of his eyes.
He grumbled in his sleep and shifted for a bit. He didn't even open his eyes. He has been doing this ever since you have taken him back to the palace. You sighed and touched his forehead to check his temperature. Suddenly the room spun out of sight and you plunged into darkness.
Flashes of images flashed through your head.
A midnight purple dress with a black veil
The sun setting
A *Favourite colour* silk carpet
A little toddler who had black hair with purple and *hair colour stripes*, blue eyes and pale skin
You and Dettlaff whispering three words to each other
Then you fell back into darkness once again.
"Rhen! Are you... Are you hurt?! If any of them touched you-"
"You know me. I would never let them hurt me."
"Now we only need to find Syanna. Where do you think we should start?"
"Ran into the lord of Dunn Tynne. He told me where to find Syanna."
"Well? Tell us and we'll be on our way."
"He told me where to find her. Right in this very tower. And incidentally it doesn't look anything like a prison cell."
"What are you trying to say Witcher?"
"Sorry Dettlaff. You've been had."
Silence for a couple of seconds. Then you heard someone hitting something. More silence and then the sound of something being dropped.
"You will come to Tesham Mutna and explain all. If you do not you will regret it. This I promise you! You have three days."
You got out of the visions with a raging headache. The grief that hit you hurt you even more than the normal grief that hit you. Syanna! Princess Sylvia Anna was the reason for this?! You're gonna have to find her. Now. Something brushed past you.
"Playroom." An unknown voice whispered in your ear.
You jumped and turned but nobody was there. You shook your head and got up, walking out of the room. After thirty minutes you found the royal playroom. You nodded once to yourself and looked around for the princess but she wasn't there. You sighed and picked up a journal and flipped through it. You chuckled at what Syanna called the governess and frowned when you got to the part of The Land of A Thousand Fables. You hummed and looked around. A crow was perched on the window sill looking at you.
"Now what are we doing here?" Regis's voice asked behind you.
You swore and turned around to see Regis standing behind you with a raised eyebrow and an amused smile. You sighed and punched him in the arm.
"Don't scare me like that!" You yelled and he laughed. "I'm here to look for Syanna."
He nodded. "I'm helping."
You rolled your eyes and looked around some more for the book the governess was talking about. You found it, cracked it open and flipped the pages.
"Regis. Hold my elbow." You said and he did.
You muttered the spell and the words lifted off the page and circled around you. It covered you and Regis and whisked you away into the book.
You looked around and sighed in relief when you saw Regis. He wasn't looking at you though. He was looking around him with a look of wonder and amazement. You looked around and gasped when you saw the place. This place was beautiful. Lush, green grass spread out as far as the eye could see, beautiful butterflies fluttered around and at your feet was a golden road that curved away from you. Tall trees towered above you and had leaves of every colour in them. You stepped forward.
"Wow..." You muttered.
Regis nodded. "Agreed." He looked at the road and elbowed you gently. "Let's see where this leads."
You nodded and stepped onto the path. You wished that you put on shoes but it was far too late for that. Regis and you walked down the road until you heard a commotion. You walked through a gate and got pulled backwards by Regis immediately. You heard him growl and looked at him only to see that his cheeks had stretched over his bones and his fangs had elongated. His eyes were narrow and he had long nails at his side.
You frowned and kept walking forward, Regis by your side. You saw a woman with black hair trying to open an oven but was being stopped by a witch. The Witch turned and frowned.
"Who are you? Why are you here?" She snapped.
Regis tensed up. "*Name*. Get to Syanna. Stay by her side and make sure she doesn't run."
You nodded and ran to Syanna. You saw the boots she was wearing and pointed at them.
"Gimme." You ordered.
She scoffed. "Excuse me?!"
"You heard me. Now gimme the shoes."
She groaned and took her boots off. She didn't deserve luxury. After all, she manipulated and hurt Dettlaff. And nobody should ever be manipulated. Nobody. You watched Regis fight the witch and illusions before he finally killed her and her broomstick. Syanna sauntered up to him and searched the witch for something before taking out a key and turning to the oven. When she opened the oven a kid fell out.
"Hello Jack." She said with a sinister tone.
You scowled and crossed your arms, watching her bully the kid for information. When she was done you glared at her.
"What?" Syanna asked.
"I'll tell you what bitch. You fucking manipulated," You took a step forward, fully intending to push her into the oven. "Dettlaff."
Regis grabbed you by the arm. "Calm." He said. "Please."
You rolled your eyes again and poked your tongue out but obeyed.
The Land of A Thousand Fables was an incredible place. Beautiful and lovely. But full of frickin pixies! You got your beans and Syanna got a pink ribbon, which you took and threw into the river. Regis didn't stop you but Syanna tried to. You punched her in the face. When you buried the beans and got out of the way you wondered how Dettlaff would react to seeing Syanna.
You scaled the beanstalk, Regis killed the giant, Syanna tried to hook up with you and Regis but you two declined 'nicely' and fell down a well. You all exited out of a waterfall and saw a group of vampires. You whistled loudly for their attention and they looked at you. You grabbed Syanna by the elbow tightly so she wouldn't escape and shoved her forward.
"Gift for Dettlaff." You said.
The sneered. "And why should we present your gift to him?" One asked.
"Trust me. He'd want this gift. Can you please put her in the dungeons?"
They all nodded and grabbed Syanna, taking her away. Syanna glared at you over her shoulder and you smiled. Regis tried not to laugh.
The Servant of a Vampire Part 18
The next day Dettlaff was awake. He looked around to se where he was and was surprised to find himself back in his bedroom at the palace. He spotted you sitting in a chair fast asleep. He sat up slowly but his movement woke you up. You yawned, rubbed your eyes and smiled at him.
"You're awake." You said happily.
"I am." He looked down and was silent for a second. "Thanks..." He mumbled awkwardly.
You nodded. "No need to thank me but you're welcome."
An awkward silence fell across the two of you. Then he broke it.
"Why?" He whispered.
You frowned. "Sorry?"
"Why? Why did you try to run away? Why didn't you run away after I rescued you?"
You shrugged. "It's a kindness. Not all humans are shit." You swallowed. "I've a gift for you as well."
He raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Do tell."
You stood. "You okay with walking?" You asked him and he nodded.
"Why were you running away though?" He asked as he got out of bed.
"Well... A vampire told me you didn't want me around so-"
He growled, cutting you off. "What did she smell like?" He growled out.
You frowned, unsure of how her scent would help him. "I-"
"*Name*! Tell me!"
You sighed. "She... I think I remember smelling the scent of the sea." You said softly.
"Brenda." He said with so much bitterness that you had a feeling that Brenda would be in deep shit.
You didn't calm him down. Brenda deserves whatever punishment she gets. You walked out of the palace and to the Toussaint Prison, where Syanna hopefully was. You stopped in the middle of the prison and turned to Dettlaff.
"Wait here." You said and left.
You walked to a guard and he bowed. "Madame. What can I do for you?"
"Bring forth Sylvia Anna please." You said with a little bit of anger.
The guard nodded and left. He came back a little bit later with Syanna following him. The guard bowed.
"I'll take her from here. But thanks." You turned and left.
Syanna followed you. "What do you intend to do to me?"
"It's not me who's carrying out the punishment." You said in an expressionless tone.
Syanna scoffed but followed you quietly. When you got back to Dettlaff you stopped. Dettlaff froze and his mouth dropped open. Then anger overcame him and he clenched his teeth.
"Syanna. I've a question I must ask you." He said quietly and that sent chills down your spine. "Did you truly feign it all? That which bound us was a... Ruse?"
Syanna's face fell. "Dettlaff... It's not that simple. I-"
Dettlaff cut her off. "Oh. It's very simple. You either deceived me or not." He clenched his hand behind his back and stepped towards Syanna, wrapping an arm around her waist. "In forgiving you I grieve. For we now part."
He stabbed her in the chest with his claws and let her fall to the ground. The vampire cleaned his claws on his pants and glared at Syanna's dead body.
"Let's go. I want to get out of here." He said angrily.
You nodded and followed him out of the prison, not even looking at the corpse.
The Servant of a Vampire Part 19
Nearly there then we have Book 2. Don't worry people. Don't worry.
For the next few days Dettlaff has been giving you gifts after gifts after gifts. He gave you a white horse whom you named Thistle, when he saw that you were more comfortable in pants he gave you shirts and pants made of the finest cotton and crafted with the most delicate hands, he learned how to cook for you (that kind of ended in disaster. Kind of.) and he even gave you the palace garden.
The people of Toussaint rejoiced at the idea of a new Duchess and they bowed whenever you passed and they also called you 'Your Grace' and 'Your Majesty' whenever they saw you. One day a girl rode into Beauclair on a horse. Her name was Cirilla. Cirilla was beautiful. She had white hair tied in a low bun and emerald green eyes. Whenever she smiled there seemed to always be a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.
Ciri had told you that she had no intention of being Empress of Nilfgaard, Queen of Cintra, Skellige and Redania, Lady of Metinna, Ebbing and Gemmera and Sovereign of Nazair and Vicovaro and had hoped that you would help her. You assured her that she needn't worry and that, in the future, your child will take the thrones she didn't want. Cirilla thanked you and you gave her a room to stay in for the night.
Later, in your bedroom, Dettlaff walked into the room. He looked like he had been crying. You sat up in your bed and closed the book you were reading.
"What's wrong?" You asked.
"I..." He looked down, as if unsure as to why he was in your room at 12am. "I had a nightmare... Can I stay the night with you? Please?"
You smiled, nodded and shuffled to the side to give Dettlaff some room. He got into the bed and turned his back on you. Then he fell asleep. You smiled softly and combed his hair with your fingers. Dettlaff seemed to like that because he turned around and shuffled closer to you. It wasn't long until he fell asleep...
When you fell asleep you saw you, Dettlaff and a little girl on a boat. It looked like it was going to rain and you had tried to tell Dettlaff this but he ignored you, saying it was alright. Then thunder clapped and lightning flashed and you were now screaming.
Screaming.
Screaming.
Screaming...
"VALENTIA!"
The Servant of a Vampire Part 20
You and Dettlaff were spending more and more time with each other and you felt yourself falling for him more and more. You even noticed little things about him. Things like, for example, he twitches whenever he hears a random noise come out from nowhere or that, whenever he smiles, he's got this joyous twinkle in his eyes, making him look like a toddler in a candy store.
Once, when you carved him a small box to put stuff inside, he squealed happily and hugged you.
Another time, when you somehow managed to go on a trip for a while, you went to Nazair. When you came back you had a box full of Nazair roses, his favourite Nazair cologne and a brooch. The brooch was made of gold and it was carved like a lily. It reminded you of The Golden Lily of Ofier. You've been to Ofier, your cousin lives in Ofier. You gave him those items and you noticed that he has been wearing the brooch next to his moth brooch ever since.
One day Dettlaff came up to you, wringing his hands anxiously. You were reading a book when you heard him clear his throat. You raised an eyebrow and looked up.
"I... Um... I want you... To teach me to dance... Please." He added the word 'please' so quietly that it was a miracle you heard it.
You smiled and put the book down then stood up. "Of course. Let's go to the ballroom."
He gave you his arm and you two walked to the ballroom in silence. When you got there you let go of his arm and glided to the side.
"First a gentleman must ask for the dance then, if she says yes, give her your hand." You told him.
Dettlaff nodded and walked towards you with confidence. He bowed low, giving you his hand. "M'lady. It would be my honour to dance with you tonight. If you let me, of course." He said in a low voice.
You smiled and took his hand. "It would be my pleasure. Sir Dettlaff." You said in a posh voice.
He chuckled, straightened and led you to the dance floor. He bowed before you and you curtsied. Then he gripped your waist and you put your hand on his shoulder. He didn't want any teaching. He just wanted to dance with you with no music. You glided around the ballroom, not noticing the two vampires giving one maid some coin, then the maid walked off with a happy look on her face.
You two waltzed around the room, you wearing a smile and Dettlaff looking at you with adoration and love. You didn't notice the look though. You were too busy staring at him with a look of pure adoration and love on your face. Finally, the dance ended at 12am. Dettlaff walked back to your room and slept in your bed because of the nightmares. But you were certain he didn't want to feel alone. You snuggled up to him and fell asleep.
Short chapters will be coming up cause we're nearing the end of my marvellously shitty story! Then we have book 2, which is called Whisper of Death. So yeah. Bye!
