When their entire relationship is toxic, but they're both so fucked up that it's actually the best case scenario, because subjecting anybody else to either of them would be a human rights violation.
Currently watching Star Trek DS9 again and thinking about this line from the episode Fascination:
(Odo is briefing his Starfleet stand-in for the Festival.) ODO: I usually make it a point to drop by Quark's three or four times a day at random intervals, just to let him know that I'm thinking about him. But seeing today is a holiday, he'll be busier than usual. I suggest you station a man there full time. I think that about covers it. If you need me, I'll be on the Promenade.
Like um... I don't think it's normal to go to Quark's that often just to let him know you're thinking about him. Odo couldn't even be bothered to say, "Oh I go by to make sure everything is in order and to make sure nothing illegal is going on." He literally just says that he wants Quark to know that he's thinking about him?!?? Also why are you telling this to the poor random sap who has to do your job during the festival. What's he going to do, stroll into Quark's and say, "Btw Odo is thinking about you," at least 3 times a day? Do you want to just put a guy there to remind Quark every few minutes that Odo is thinking about him every second that they're apart???

Ok I know that Profit and Lace was an off-putting episode and had a lot of weird shit but this exchange at the end of the episode sends me every single time. The whole bit after Quark and Odo hug where everyone else walks in. The way in which the Grand Nagus delivered his line as if he's walking in on Quark and Odo fucking Oo-Moxing it up in the middle of the bar. The way that Odo says "Excuse me." as he runs off, clearly embarrassed as if he's been caught in the middle of the act because god forbid he was caught being nice to Quark and showing the slightest bit of affection. The way Quark just awkwardly stands there and watches him leave. Ferengi episodes my beloved <3
So is there any overlap between the Star Trek and Gravity Falls fanbases?
Ford could have visited Deep Space Nine while he was in the multiverse, right? To get parts for the quantum destabilizer or something like that.

Late night sketches of my favourite space losers! Been reading ‘The Big Game’ by Sandy Schofield and it made me think of Odo as a noir detective and I can’t get it out of my head T-T (great book btw nearly finished it in a week) Like Julian has his spy James Bond stuff why can’t Odo?

Re-watching ds9 made me insane. I black out, the next thing I know it’s been 11 hours and this is sitting in my procreate gallery. And yes I know the background looks nothing like Quark’s bar however I simply refuse to correct it.

Don't get me wrong, Odo totally loves the cat and mouse game he and Quark have, loves that he and Quark get to play around as Lawful officer and Mischievous Criminal. However, I do think that if he ever ended up in some alternate reality where Quark was a goody-two shoes who listens to Odo's rules and stays out of trouble it would for sure be Odo's personal wet-dream :)
