I used to enjoy Pokemon games a lot, but lately some of the newer entries have been kinda controversial due a variety of issues.
But instead of focusing on that, i'm here to bring you back to the past to the Nintendo DS era of Pokemon, where many (myself included) would say that the quality and care of the series was at it's peak!
Games included in this collection:

EVERYONE IS HERE!! Every single Pokemon game released for the Nintendo DS is featured in this pack. Two emulators are included in the set, just download and play

Metal Slug 1: Current Review
As a heads up, I'm using the Metal Pack emulator to play Metal Slug 1!
Due to my nearly non-existent game skills, Metal Slug 1 is definitely kicking my ass. Luckily, the save states are very helpful or I might have immediately stopped playing the game. So far, I would say it's exciting and rewarding yet frustrating at the same time. I know I can change the difficulty, but I think that would kill the fun and intensity of Metal Slug 1.
The controls feel a bit off, but I'm sure it's just a matter of getting used to them. I'm new to more challenging video games, but I'm willing to learn and practice! I'm hoping that my dumbass brain will cooperate with me...
I don't have the greatest patience when it comes to more difficult games. However, I think it's a good idea to challenge myself and continue on with this journey of playing Metal Slug 1 through 5. I will be taking my time as I don't want to ruin the fun for me because of my stupid impatience and lacking game skills.
I'm new to emulators, and Metal Pack is my first experience with one. It feels surreal, but I'm grateful to the person in the Metal Slug community for making the Neo Geo games accessible.
Little by little you get the hang of it (it happened to me)Don't worry xd
Metal Slug 2: Current Review
I would like to mention that I'm playing all of the games provided by the Metal Pack emulator on Level 4 difficulty, which I consider to be about normal difficulty.
If I'll be honest, I find Metal Slug 2 to be far more enjoyable than the Metal Slug 1. Don't get me wrong, it's a difficult game and it's definitely kicking my ass. However, I can't help to feel as though it's a tad easier compared to the first game. It feels like all of the deaths I experienced so far are more out of my recklessness than anything else.
I've noticed that the framerate is not the greatest, but it's playable nonetheless. However, I know that's not everyone's cup of tea. So far, I find that Mission 1 is the easiest and Mission 2 has the worst boss (I almost ran out of time when battling the boss because I made a big ol' oopsie). I died so many times when trying to defeat the boss of Mission 2...
For Metal Slug 1, I only had the option to play Marco, which I don't mind. For Metal Slug 2, they gave us three playable characters to choose from and I went with Tarma for this playthrough (he's my favourite!). I'm planning to play as Eri in Metal Slug 3 and Fio in Metal Slug 4.
I'm enjoying Metal Slug 2 so far! I hope to complete it tomorrow or by Friday.
;)
Metal Slug 3: Current Review
I'm halfway through the game and I'm enjoying it so far. Even though I suffer from major skill issues (yes, I just said that) and it's promptly kicking my ass, it's giving me an opportunity to think about what I should do better next time.
I decided to give Eri a proper chance for this playthrough and I feel sad whenever she dies because of her piercing scream of pain. I'm currently dying a lot like the previous two games, so it's far worse for me...
In Mission 2, I managed to save Utan! I also hope I can get Hyakutaro during my run. If not, I'll save Hyakutaro for the last three games that the Metal Pack emulator has to offer.
I've noticed that my two biggest hurdles to overcome are my lack of resource management and my recklessness. I definitely need to improve upon that, but it has been a struggle so far.
As of now, Mission 3 is my least favourite level because it starts with being in the gosh darn water and the Jupiter King (the robot boss in the boiler room) is annoying as fuck. It might be a skill issue, but I find that the controls feel a bit slippery and delayed when in the water. I'm not entirely sure about that though...
I sadly fucked up recapturing the prisoners when it came to Mission 3 because a piss poor save during the fight against the Jupiter King. I only recaptured 4 or 5 prisoners for that Mission, so it's not the biggest deal. I also had my first continue during the run as a result of getting fed up with Mission 3. However, it's not the end of the world and I firmly believe that I'll do much better than what I got for Metal Slug 2.
When playing through Mission 1, I instantly notice that there is a lot of replay value compared to the previous two because of alternative routes. It also appears to be far better than the first two games. After going through the list of games that the Metal Pack emulator offers, I have a strong feeling that I'm going to replay Metal Slug 3 again to get that full experience.
in fact in the development of
MS4, the company "SNK" was going through a bad time.
I don't know if you noticed it but in some missions, some scenarios are similar to previous installments.
Metal Slug 4: Completion Review + Other Thoughts
I decided to skip the current review this time and talk about how my first playthrough went. I chose Trevor this time and I honestly like him. It's a shame that Tarma and Eri aren't playable characters in this game, but beggars can't be choosers.
This is the second Metal Slug game I've beaten in one day!
Review:
To be honest, I think this entry is the easiest so far. It's still difficult, but not as much as the first game. I think it's far easier than the second game, but that's just me.
I managed to get Hyakutaro for this playthrough, which is great! I believe in Hyakutaro supremacy!
If I'll be honest, I did restart my playthrough because of a piss poor save. Luckily, I wasn't too far into the game. I'm hellbent on saving as many prisoners as I can!
I managed to recapture 36 prisoners, I have one continue, and I got a high score of 1419191! To be honest, I did lose a few recaptured prisoners because I gave up on two separate occasions during the last Mission: a group of enemies and two bomb tanks, and the final boss. However, I did my very best to recapture as many prisoners as possible! I also experienced my first continue during the final boss because I was fed up and I didn't feel like saving some more.
I do enjoy the game, but it feels like something is missing to make it a more memorable entry in the Metal Slug franchise. It has alright music, new weapons, decent bosses, and two new playable characters. However, that isn't enough to fully itch that true Metal Slug scratch. I think it lies in the level design and pixel art. It feels quite off when comparing it to the previous three games. It also has a shitty final boss in my opinion.
Opinion:
I noticed that there is a bit of replay value to this entry, so I might give it another try at some point. I would also like to say that the end credits are alright. I just wish there were as impactful as the first and third games.
I honestly don't have a lot to say for this game, which is why I skipped the current review that I did for the previous three games...
At last, I have finally arrived at Metal Slug 5. I hope I enjoy Metal Slug 5 more than what the fourth game had to offer.
It's that easy?
Metal Slug 2: Completion Review + Other Thoughts
I've completed the second Metal Slug game in the franchise! I think I did a decent job, but not as well as the first game in regards to recaptured prisoners and high score.
Review:
I managed to play as Tarma for most of my playthrough because I personally like him the most. I will say this again, but the slow framerate can be a tad frustrating at times. However, I pushed through to see the rest of the game.
There were moments where I got frustrated such as the Mission 2 boss and Allen O'Neil (he'll always be the bane of my existence!). On the contrary, I also had fun with stuff like the entirety of Mission 1! It was nice to finally fight creatures that weren't humans and machines. It adds a lot of variety to the series and gameplay.
I managed to recapture 43 prisoners and my high score is 1842305! I did have 5 continues though because of a couple of fuck ups...
Other Thoughts:
When recapturing the prisoners, I sadly fucked up Mission 5 due to a piss poor save and the Final Mission because the Martians in the little spaceships were kicking my ass. I also decided to just let a couple of deaths happen and switch to Fio for what was left of my playthrough. I also gave Marco and Eri a chance when battling the final boss (they didn't last for very long though...). If those two fuck ups weren't present, I would have managed to recapture more prisoners.
Despite those two major fuck ups and countless deaths, Metal Slug 2 is a decent game and I think I prefer it more than the original to a certain extent.
Not going to lie, I adore the music of Metal Slug as it's very fitting for the games. In my opinion, it's perfectly adrenaline-fuelled and pleasant to the ears.
I did notice that the end credits of Metal Slug 2 is very lame compared to the first one. I'm unsure why that's the case... Maybe it was because of time constraints? Maybe the game file couldn't handle anymore stuff being added to it? I have no idea...
If I play Metal Slug 2 again, I'll be playing Metal Slug X instead because I'm aware it's a revised version of the original game.
At last... Onto Metal Slug 3!

Metal Slug 3: Completion Review + Other Thoughts
I only have Metal Slug 4, 5, and X to go through in the Metal Pack emulator. I'm aiming to get all of my first playthroughs of each game done by next week. It's honestly exciting!
Review:
Not going to lie, Metal Slug 3 is my most favourite mainline entry so far. Despite my lack of gaming skills and impatience, it's a fun game with a lot of highs.
I've decided that I should try to save as many bombs as possible and use them when I need them the most, especially for bosses. It's a bit difficult, but it's somewhat working.
I love all of the levels, especially the Final Mission. The only level that I despise is Mission 3 because of the underwater sections and the Jupiter King. There are four moments where I gave up: the fight against Jupiter King and fake Rootmars, when escaping the Martian mothership, and the final boss. I should have tried harder when battling Rootmars and escaping the Martian mothership, but I couldn't find it in me to not be mentally exhausted. There are a couple of enemies that I find very annoying, especially during the Final Mission.
Despite my difficulties and mental exhaustion, I managed to push through till the end.
I managed to recapture 42 prisoners, I have 10 continues (as a result of my eventual sloppiness), and a high score of 3918709! When I decide to replay Metal Slug 3, I'll definitely try to aim for more recaptured prisoners and less continues.
Other Thoughts:
Again, the music slaps in this game! It's fantastic! It adds well-needed atmosphere and intensity to each of the Missions.
The pixel art of Metal Slug will always be amazing. It has so much life to it, which greatly adds to the overall experience for me. I think it even looks better than most modern games. To be honest, I have a personal bias when it comes to really good pixel art...
To be honest, I think the end credits are as good as the first game. Metal Slug 2 was lacking good end credits, which is a shame. So, I'm glad they were able to whip up something good and fitting for this entry.
I can't wait to start Metal Slug 4 soon. From what I'm aware of, I don't hear a lot of people talk about it. So, I can only hope that it's a decent game.
I'll definitely replay Metal Slug 3 at some point because I want to experience what else it has to offer.

At last, I have finally arrived at Metal Slug 5. I hope I enjoy Metal Slug 5 more than what the fourth game had to offer.
Metal Slug 5: Current Review
I chose Tarma for this playthrough because I couldn't resist. I noticed that the character select screen doesn't have the same charm and aesthetic as the ones in Metal 2, 3, and 4. However, I like the idea of a crowd of people in a theatre with the faces of the main four on a curtain, while everyone is cheering them on.
Not gonna lie, I'm liking Metal Slug 5 way more than the previous entry. It feels like genuine good effort and care was put into this entry. So far, this entry is quite interesting. I like how we have new sprites for the new enemies (I believe they're called the Ptolemaics). They feel familiar yet refreshing. They feel more like a ragtag team of spies and rebels to me for some reason.
I wonder if Morden has been brought back for Metal Slug 5 because he was mostly absent from the previous game. I know I can search that up, but I don't want to spoil it! I'll have to continue on playing to see if he comes back or not.
The pixel art, music, and level design are major upgrades compared to the previous game. I think that's great because it shows that the Metal Slug team is capable of creating quality products and improving upon their mistakes.
I honestly don't have much to say, but Metal Slug 5 has exceeded my expectations so far. I hope to finish it very soon!
Metal Slug 5: Completion Review + Other Thoughts
Yay! Another Metal Slug game has been completed! Not gonna lie, this is very exciting to me.
Review:
This entry in the Metal Slug franchise is surprisingly good. The previous entry wasn't as great due to SNK experiencing financial troubles at the time. However, they managed to pull their act together and create a satisfying product for Metal Slug 5. Despite my slight frustrations with it, I was willing to play through the entire game in one day, while taking breaks when necessary.
I was anticipating the return of Morden, but he never showed up. I ain't complaining though because I think Metal Slug 5 went down a more interesting route.
I managed to recapture 46 prisoners, got 1 continue, and I have a high score of 1449131! I did get fed up with dodging a particular attack for the Avatar of Evil (the final boss). It explains why I received one continue and lost 4 or 5 recaptured prisoners.
Other Thoughts:
I almost screwed up the boss of Mission 4 because time was running out. I almost left like giving up, but I persisted and managed to save 3 seconds on the clock. There was no way that I was gonna lose precious recaptured prisoners.
To be honest, I'll most likely replay this entry at some point, but let's see.
I really like the music that this entry has to offer because I'm a sucker for songs that have electric guitars and/or drums.
The ending scene (I dunno why I called that end credits for the previous reviews...) are quite decent and perfectly peaceful, but the music almost elevates it to new heights.
I just realised that I accidentally called this section of my previous two Completion Reviews "Opinion". So, yeah, just pretend that didn't happen... My brain was totally fried when finishing Metal Slug 3 and 4.
The only game left in the Metal Pack emulator is Metal Slug X. I heard it's a much better version of Metal Slug 2, so I'm excited to see what it has in store.
After completing Metal Slug X, I plan on ranking all of the Metal Pack games from most favourite to least favourite.
Metal Slug X: Completion Review + Other Thoughts
I've finally completed the last game that the Metal Pack emulator has to offer.
I decided to skip the Current Review this time because I honestly don't have much to say. I also chose Eri for this run.
Review:
When playing through the game, I realised that my skills from the original Metal Slug 2 have slightly improved. If I'll be honest, due to playing Metal Slug 2, I had a somewhat easier time anticipating enemy attack patterns and spawn locations. With the skills I've slowly developed, I was able to go through the game with slight ease. I still died many times throughout my entire playthrough, but it felt like less compared to playing through Metal Slug 2. I've been hoarding bombs like a madman most of the time (I try to save them for bosses). I've also been trying my best to manage bullets and keep the vehicles as damage free as possible.
I'm glad the framerate issue has been dealt with, making it easier to get through. I also like how SNK was willing to add more stuff to Metal Slug X than the original and rearrange a few things. It makes Metal Slug X a far more enjoyable experience compared to the original.
I managed to rescue Hyakutaro twice for this run, which is amazing! I was pretty surprised that I saved him this time...
I recaptured 70 prisoners and got a high score of 3656220! I did a much better job with recapturing prisoners compared to my first run of Metal Slug 2. I almost failed the final boss and a small part of me wanted to give up. However, I persisted through the fight because I wanted to try and not lose a decent amount of recaptured prisoners.
Overall, this is one of the better Metal Slug games out there and I'm glad that SNK gave Metal Slug 2 another chance.
Other Thoughts:
I still have a Metal Slug OC I need to complete, but I don't have a lot of ideas for that as of late.
I'm glad that they put some effort into the end credits. It's not as good as the first, third, and fifth games. However, I did enjoy looking at the concept art they provided for the end credits.
I do plan on replaying a couple of the games, primarily Metal Slug 3.
