When Lucien got the wedding invitation he honestly thought he was hallucinating as he stared down at the autumn court royal seal.

The name next to the elegantly written Eris Vanserra was what puzzled him the most. Y/n L/n. Lucien knew her, a female from the summer court with the power of water. She wasn't a noble, she wouldn't be good leverage if the summer court decided to turn on them. She was a nobody through and through. But that meant Beron probably wouldn't approve of her, which in turn implied that Eris was going to marry for love.

That's what baffled Lucien because he explicitly remembered a younger version of himself being chastised for loving.

Unwillingly he found himself pulled into the past and the memory of that faithful day.

*****

Little Lucien was walking up the path to the Forest House with a slight bounce to his step as he thought back to earlier in the day. He and Jesminda had been in the forest, climbing trees, writing poems, even sparring in a sun bathed clearing. It was a dream come true, a perfect day.

He smiled as he relived the moment, running through the trees with her, laughing as she pulled on his arm to slow him down.

He was pulled from the memory when he smacked into a wall of muscle. Lucien gasped, stumbling back a few steps as he stared up at his elder brother. Eris regarded him with a cold, indifferent stare and Lucien had the idiocy to hope that he would get off without a punishment.

Holding his breath he slowly started to inch around he older brother muttering, "My apologies, Sir."

Eris's hand latched out and he dragged Lucien to a nearby sparring ring. Tossing Lucien a dagger he smiled at him, "I was just in the mood for a quick fight, little one."

Lucien gritted his teeth, he hated that nickname, "Of course Eri, I'd love to test my skills against you."

Eris' eyes narrowed at his little brother before he charged, disarming and tackling Lucien in one quick move. Pushing a knife against his ribs he growled in Lucien's ear. "your heart is on full display Lucien. Our brothers were out hunting today and came by the two of you sparring. They saw her Lucien. They saw. I'm not powerful enough to erase their memory so you need to get your girl out tonight. I'll try to buy you time but a word of advice. Don't put your love on full display, don't marry for love here. Not in this court, not while Father is still breathing. Just remember that, the spring court has opened it's doors to the two of you for the next few days but I cant stop what happens if you don't get her out."

Lucien gawked at Eris as he jumped up and walked away flipping a vulgar gesture Lucien's way. whaat the fucckk?

Suddenly Eris' words sunk in and Lucien jumped up racing down the path toward the village Jesminda lived in.

Only to be a minute too late.

*****

Dragging himself out of the memory Lucien shook hie head. Eris had been a good brother, well not good but compared to the rest of them he'd been a saint.

So Lucien would go to this wedding, he would cheer on his brother and his friend. But mostly he would see if there was anyway of repairing this cavern between them. He wanted a brother, he wanted Eris to be there when he married, and so he dug out his best suit, glancing at the wedding invitation. The wedding was to be in 30 minutes, the invitation sent out only an hour before, probably so no one would have adequate time to alert Beron.

So Lucien dressed and winnowed to his birthplace and for the first time in centuries he was home.

Eris fidgeted with his absurdly fancy suit as he waited for the clock to read 4:00pm. Constantly unbuttoning and buttoning his button, Eris did his best to keep his newly powerful magic and instincts at bay.

3:58. Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock.

The door to that lead to the podium opened and his High Lady slipped inside, smiling fondly at her husband. She was dressed in a dress that seemed like a sunset every step she took and made him really want to drag her to the nearest closet.

He smiled back as she came to a stop at his side, slipping her hand into his as the clock struck four.

Ding dong, ding dong, ding dong, ding dong.

The couple walked at a casual pace and emerged on the podium and stepped up to either side of the pedestal. There was a smattering round of applause and cheers, Eris thought he heard a few boos but held back his instinct to crush whoever would dare boo him.

Lucien stepped up in between Eris and Y/n making some announcements of how Beron had been “sick” and how unfortunate it was that he’d died.

“But we are lucky to have Eris Vanserra still alive and ready to rule this court! Our High Lord has appointed his mate as his High Lady, please welcome High Lady Y/n L/n!”

This time when the people applauded there were only cheers, for everyone loved Y/n. The female smiled and stepped forward to speak.

“Thank you, but this day goes to my mate! Please welcome High Lord Eris Vanserra!”

Eris couldn’t help but blush, this hadn’t been the script that his advisors had written but he stepped forward and raise his right hand in a fist. Y/n stepped forward as well and did the same, both simultaneously placing their fists over their hearts.

“We promise to do our best to protect this land in any way. We will always do what we think is fair and reasonable. We will do our best to make you happy and reconstruct more villages, create more jobs, rebuild alliances with other courts, and construct a better Autumn Court!”

The people cheered and this time Eris’ ears couldn’t pick out a single boo. He smiled, spreading his fingers and shooting bursts of fireworks over the heads of his people.

Y/n smiled, pulling him by the front of his shirt and kissing him deeply. When they pulled away everyone was cheering and celebrating the new high lord and lady

Celebrating the start of a new era for the Autumn Court.

Insecurities (Eris x reader)

Insecurities (Eris X Reader)

You knew your mate was worried; he never closed off his side of the bond unless he thought it was necessary. And Eris almost never thought it was necessary. But with less than a week until Eris planned to kill Beron, you knew he was insecure. But you didn’t know how insecure, so you wrapped up your long meeting with the ambassadors and quickly hurried t your shared room

When you opened the door to your room you were not expecting a ring of fire surrounded Eris and your mate on his knees, body covered with fire.

You hesitated, you were from the Dawn Court and your wings were definitely not immune to fire, nor was your body. Beron had only allowed the marriage because you were Thesan’s cousin and it would secure an alliance with the Dawn Court. But Beron didn’t know you were mates as Eris took great care to hide that. Beron hadn’t threatened you because that would put his alliance on thin ice. Unfortunately being Eris’ mate didn’t make you immune to fire.

You circled around so Eris could see you and started to reach a hand out towards the fire. Eris glanced up, his face stone cold and eyes guarded.

“Leave Y/n, please just leave me alone.”

You would do no such thing, even as his words hit your heart right where your own insecurities were. Does he still want me? Will he stop loving me one day? What if I'm not enough? You pushed the thoughts aside and focused on your mate. Slowly you took a step towards the fire. Another. Another. Until you were right in front of the fire, you could feel the heat of the fire, but it wasn't too hot. So you took another step, the fire immediately split around you.

Eris lifted his head and frowned at the fire as if it had a mind of its own. The fire surrounding his body retreated as you slowly pulled him into you. His back against your chest, one of your arms resting over his sternum, the other arm tangled in his hair. He was so tense that you leaned forward and whispered words in his ear.

"My mate, it may not be fine now but you will grow and heal and it will be better than fine. I love you and nothing you do will ever change that, you are good, you are kind and respectful and have never treated me with anything but. I am yours and you are mine and I love you. I love every part of you and I always will."

Eris hesitated to relax into you and you knew it was because he didn't want anyone to see him like this. Vulnerable and raw. You continued stroking his hair and occasionally whispered soft reassurances in his ear.

But he stiffened suddenly and sat up, not meeting your eyes, shutting you out. "I thought I told you to leave Y/n, if you can't follow that order at least shut the hell up and stop touching me! I can't stand it, you're so needy and you're always demanding something from me. Just go away, let me have a day of peace!"

Eris turned away from you as his words struck your heart deep, but you didn't go. You sat by him for the next few hours as he shouted things at you that went straight through your walls and to your heart. But you stayed and when he fell asleep you picked him up in your arms and set him on the bed. Tucking him in, you glanced at the clock. It was 6am. Shit, you were both already late for your morning meetings.

You left the room with a concerned glance at your mate even as you wondered if he meant his words. You went to his meeting in the night court first and when you got there a dagger was at your throat.

"Who are you? What have you done with Eris?"

You looked up to see the spymaster, you grimaced, "Eris is fine and I am his mate here to meet with the high lord in his place."

The spymaster hesitated before leading you to a meeting room already filled with the night court inner circle. You got straight to the point, "Alright first things first, I don't know when my mate will make his move but I can say with certainty that it will be in less than a week. Eris is stressed and tired and please to not pressure him, I'm not doing much better but I am already late to a meeting with the captain of Eris' loyal soldiers. So please excuse my mate and let him rest."

Everyone stared at you with shock before Rhysand nodded, "Tell Eris to come meet with us when he is ready, we have the supplies he asked for. And you can go meet with the captain and after that I think you should get some rest."

You smiled at him and nodded, "thank you high lord" before you winnowed out to another meeting.

You gave the captain a similar speech and he nodded. "Tell the Heir to get rest; he can't defeat Beron without strength, and tell him to come at least 5 hours before he makes his move. We need a heads up to be ready. Thank you mi'lady, but may I suggest you cancel the rest fo the meetings today?"

You laughed, "Why is everyone so worried about me? I'm not the one about to attempt overthrowing the throne! And captain, my next meeting is in the night, I should be good. Plus how many times do I have to say you can call me Y/n?

The captain and his soldiers stared at you until one spoke up. "I don't mean to be rude Y/n but have you looked at yourself recently?"

You blinked at the soldiers before nodding, "I suppose I should do that. Thank you."

When you got back to your room Eris was awake and eating breakfast at the desk while reading reports. He glanced up and his face was so cold and devoid of emotion that all your insecurities from his words the night before came rushing back. You stopped at his side and he pulled you into his lap stiffly.

Eventually you dared to speak, "I... did you mean what you said last night? Am I really needy and demanding?"

He stared down at you, expression softening immediately. "No I didn't sweetheart, I had a long day of work and you know what's coming up but I'm sorry, I shouldn't have taken it out on you. You are all I could ask for in a mate, you do everything for me and ask for nothing in return. You stayed even when I told you to go because you know me and knew I didn't mean it. But I'm willing to bet everything I said hurt you, and I'm infinitely sorry for that. I will make it up in every way if you can forgive me."

You smiled at Eris, expression slightly pained but you nodded. "I will forgive you Eris Vanserra, and I know my cracked heart will heal eventually, with your help." Eris's answering smile was as bright as the sun. "I also met with the night court," Eris stiffened and you quickly added, "Rhysand wishes to meet with you when you're ready and the Captain needs you to notify him at least 5 hours before you know what so he can get his troops ready. They both told me to sleep as well but I don't understand why...."

Eris looked at you amused and stood up, carrying you to the full body mirror. You blinked at your reflection. There were dark circles under your eyes, your hair was unkempt, you clothes were singed at the edges and there was a little cut on your neck from where the spymaster had held a knife to your throat. You gaped at yourself.

Eris kissed the top of your head, "sleep my little fox, I will be here when you wake and I can start my apology." Your body heated but you smiled at him and drifted into unconscious.

A/n: hope you enjoyed! Constructive criticism, comments, likes and reblogs are appreciated. I swear I actually look at them

Falling For You (eris X You)

You hum a soft tune as you and Lucien head towards the busy town market. The two of you were roommates and had run out of... well basically everything needed to live. Neither of you had gone shopping in 4 weeks all because of a stupid fight in which you both believed you were in the right. You'd only made up because you'd both agreed food and wine were necessary to enjoy a good life.

As you approached the first stall selling fresh fruit, someone running at full speed smacked straight into your side. This, of course caused you to fall and collide into Lucien who, despite his many muscles, also fell and collided into the fae near him.

A whole chain reaction of people tripping and stumbling occurred and half of the market turned into disarray. All because of a stupid running fae that-

You froze. The person that had caused this was... downright beautiful. His eyes were a lovely shade of amber and his hair a fiery red. There was a splatter of freckles over his nose and cheeks that left you reeling.

You felt Lucien stiffen on the ground under you and you suddenly realized you were lying on top of him. You cringe and make a move to get up when a hand extends into your vision. "Let me," the strangers smooth, silky voice cuts through the air.

You reject his hand, getting up on your own. Lucien stands up so fast, you swear he gets whiplash. He glares at the male.

"Eris. What brings you here?"

"Oh Lucienn, it's so nice to see you again, little brother, just the person I was searching for actually."

You blink, Eris? As in Eris Vanserra? Like the recently appointed High Lord, Eris Vanserra? You panic, having just rejected your high lord's hand offer, you quickly move to sink into a bow when your best friend's hand lands on your shoulder.

"Don't. He's not worth your loyalty." You've never heard your friend's voice this cold.

"Ouch, that hurts lil bro," Eris mock pouts, putting a hand on his perfectly sculpted chest.

"Lucie?" You look up at the scar on Lucien's face, suddenly afraid to meet his eyes. He's looking at Eris, mouth set in a line, heat radiating.

"Who's this lovely lady?" Eris drawls, "Where have you been hiding her all this time?"

"She is off limits." Lucien glowers.

You frown, glancing at your friend before going to address Eris. But the moment you meet his eyes your world tilts, a sudden bright light making you gasp. A loud, clear snap cutting through the world as you know it.

Eris is your mate.

Eris is your mate.

Eris is your mate.

"Y/n! Are you alright?" Lucien's concerned face slides into your vision and you realize you've fallen so you're leaning against him. The rest of the crowded market has went back to their previous business. Everything is back to normal. Except....

"Get your hands off my mate." Eris's low growl reverberates through the space, causing many people to turn and frown at him before realizing he's the High Lord and turning back as if nothing happened.

Lucien pale ten shades. "What did you say?"

"She's my mate."

You grunt, body instinctively leaping forward upon hearing Eris's voice. Cursing the Cauldron and the Mother and every old god you can think of you clutch your chest with one hand and Luciens sturdy bicep with another.

You glance up at Eris only to see him watching your hand grip Lucien's arm. You quickly let go, stepping in front of Lucien.

"Do not hurt him."

Eris gawks at you, offended. "You find out I'm your mate and the first thing you ask is for me not to hurt my own brother?"

You glare. "There is no way my kind, caring friend is your egotistic asses brother."

Eris's mouth opens in pure shock.

A slightly choked laugh comes from behind you, "You would not have called me kind and caring twenty minutes ago when you were throwing a pillow at my face telling me to do the shopping because I'm a 'egotistical fae brute.'"

You groan and take a playful swing at Lucien. "Ok fine, maybe you are brothers. But... Luc, what do I do about the mating bond?"

Lucien shrugs, "It's your choice."

Eris smirks at you. "That, my brother is right about. I won't force you into anything... unless you want to be forced of course."

You raise your brows at him and he puts his hands up as if to say, don't kill me, I'm just stating facts.

You sigh, shaking your head, barely suppressing a smile.

A sudden wave of emotion comes down the new bond in your chest. Joy, relief, fear and a pinch of desperation.

You blink at the male in front of you, dressed head to toe in fancy clothes, eyes sparkling, hair flaming and face smiling.

You think you can make this work. Maybe you were wrong to curse the cauldron earlier. Maybe it was right. Because this male in front of you sure does seem just right.

"Ugh stop..." Lucien's voice cuts through your thoughts. "You two are already so lovey dovey I can see it in your eyes. It's gonna make me hurl."

You and Eris both shoot him an identical glower.

Siblings (E.V. x reader)

a/n: Eris Week day 3- healing. so if it isn’t clear by the end this is eris and lucien healing their relationship

thank you @erisweekofficial

this is a part two to Falling For You but can be read alone.

Siblings (E.V. X Reader)

After the bond between you and Eris had snapped, the two of you had started going places together when your mate had even the smallest moment of free time from his high lord duties.

However, your bestest friend in the universe had started pulling away. He was hardly around in your shared home and when he was, he was locked up in his room, brooding. It hurt you to see Lucien pulling away and it also hurt you when Eris asked how his “baby brother” was doing. You always said he was great when, in truth, he was drowning.

The guilt was crushing you and you wanted to do something for the two brothers but what could you even do?

You sigh, frowning at the stove in your hand.

You okay?

A tug comes down the bond and you cringe, having completely forgotten Eris could feel everything you were feeling.

What if you asked him?

Why are you and Lucien so… not brotherly?

A long silence.

I feel that is something you better ask him about.

You sigh but send your thanks down the bond anyway.

Glancing at the door to Lucien’s bedroom, you hesitantly rise to your feet and, with a heavy sigh, you raise a fist to knock.

Before you can actually make contact with any wood, the door opens. Lucien stands in the doorway, brows raised.

You frown, “How did-“

“Sensed your magic.” He answers your question before you can finish. He steps aside, leaving the path to his room open. You quickly slip in

“Lucien… I wanted to ask something I’ve been wondering about for a while now.”

He smiles encouragingly although his eyes swirl with some emotion you can’t quite place.

“You and Eris don’t seem to have the best relationship,” Lucien grunts as if to say, obviously.

Your lips twitch in a half smile. “But why is your relationship so, if I may, horrible.”

Lucien bites his lip, his tell tale sign of anxiety. He sighs, sitting on his bed, long hair sweeping over his shoulder. “We didn’t have the greatest parents and they never really showed us how to love anyone, anything, except power. At first, Eris, along with all my other brothers were invested in the idea of becoming High Lord. But then… Jesminda, she was my lover. My will to live, to smile and talk, she was the only person I loved. She loved me for me, not for my power or status, but for me. But she was a lesser fae and my father quickly fount out about our relationship. He disapproved of her and she was,” Lucien grimaces, choking.

“She was tortured and killed because the love she held for me. That day, I defected to the spring court. Tamlin was at the border and killed two of my brothers who were hunting me. I always wondered why Tamlin was at the border that day. It was a pretty average day and Nobles aren’t usually on the border unless there’s a war or something. For the first 100 years or so I brushed it off as a lucky break. I continued hating my brothers for what they’d done. But one day I had just arrived back from an undercover emissary trip to the Summer Court and I was still cloaked in a glamour so I guess Tamlin’s wards didn’t sense me. I heard him and my brother talking. Eris was asking, grilling, Tamlin on how I was doing. If I was still heartbroken. If I was pulling my weight and still training. Tamlin answered every question in an exhausted way as if this had already been happening for a while. Then I heard Eris ask if Tamlin had told me anything about that day at the border. Soon after Eris left and I walked in as if nothing had happened but my mind was reeling. My world had been overturned. Y/n, you know the feeling. After that I wasn’t sure how to act around Eris. I wasn’t sure what to think about him. He seemed like the bad guy only rooting for power but sometimes his actions would tell me he was an okay guy trying to protect his little brother. It was always awkward and weird and now that he’s here and that he’s proved he’s a good guy, I just don’t know how to handle myself around him.”

Lucien sighs, leaning forward. You stepped up and wrapped your arms around his shoulders. He buried his face into your stomach, and the two of you held on to each other as if you’d never let go. (Your relationship was strictly platonic of course).

“You know…” you say after a few minutes. “You could start with not avoiding Eris every time he comes here?”

Lucien groans. “I was only half avoiding him! I wanted the two of you to have your alone time.”

“We hung out here so much because he wanted a chance to talk to you,” you say with a roll of your eyes.

Lucien pulls away from you, “Wait really?”

“You think I want to spend so much time in this house when I’m here practically 24/7 anyway???”

Lucien shrugs, “You are quite quirky.”

You smack him on the arm, laughing.

“Collecting the trash people give to me is not quirky!” You walk out the door, and while you’re shutting it you tell him, “By the way, Eris should be here any second.”

“Y/n!” Lucien curses you to the cualdren and you let out a good natured cackle just as the doorbell rings.

“Hey Eris!”

You smile a little too wide, causing Eris to immediately sense something’s wrong.

“What happened? What did you do?”

You groan, “why do you always think I’m the one who did something? It could have been Lucien!”

Eris rolls his eyes, “Lucien, would never! You on the other hand…”

“On the contrary, I probably would do something.” Lucien is standing by the coach, a soft, tentative smile on his face.

“Lucien.” Eris blinks, amber eyes widening before his hand comes up to rub his eyes as of not believing the sight in front of him.

Lucien’s smile widens, “Don’t worry Er, it’s not a dream.”

Eris scoffs, mouth opening as if to say something but instead he just opens his arms and smiles.

You watch as your best friend and your mate hug and deep down, you know they’ll be happy. They will definitely fight over the smallest things and insult each other as if there’s a prize for the best insult. They’ll probably do stupid things together that cause big problems for each of their lives. They’ll occasionally give each other the silent treatment for years, but… that’s what siblings are supposed to do.

The two males pull away and face you.

“Thanks, little flame.” Eris grabs your hand, pulling you into a kiss.

You hum, breaking the kiss.

“Wanna go get ice cream now?”

“Sure! Bye Luci.”

Lucien frowns at the two of you. “Wait, can I come?”

You and Eris share a look.

Eris smirks, “Sorry man, mates only. Go get your little flower from the night court and join us if you’re that desperate.”

Lucien rolls his eyes.

“Whatever.”

You wink in his direction as you leave. “Get cleaned up Lu, I told Elain you wanted to see her and she’s on her way!”

You close the door to the panicked shout of your best friends, “What!???”

Ashling (Eris x Y/N)

a/n: don’t mind this. It’s not late for me. ANYWAYSSS enjoy!!!

Eris week day 5: war (eris against father, Eris agianst Koschei)

@erisweekofficial

bro idek if it can be counted as a war prompt... it went so off topic

———

Eris Week 2024: Adventure/War

Eris groans as he slowly comes back into consciousness. There’s a paralyzing pain in every pore as Eris opens his eyes and takes on his surroundings. He is chained, wrists amd ankles, to a stone wall. The room is small, around the size of a bathroom, and dull stone slabs stare him in the face. He can’t see a door but he can see an adjacent wall laden with knives and pokers of all shapes and sizes.

An involuntary shiver runs down his spine. Memories of how he got here slowly come back. Eris must have been kidnapped by Koschei when he was out hunting with his hounds. His soldiers. The ones that had defected, he remembered being surrounded and trying to wake them from their trace.

“Well, well, well, look who’s awake?”

Eris forces his face into a mask of indifference as Briallyn winnows into his cell.

“What do you want?” He sneers, mask almost faltering at the sight of the old woman. She was old and fae, not young and fae. The cauldron had punished her.

“Is that really the way you greet a queen?” Briallyn tuts.

Eris hisses, opening her mouth to say something. But suddenly he can’t. He can’t control his muscles. His arms and legs are suddenly released from their chains. He walks forward, into Briallyn’s arms.

She looks him in the eye, brows furrowed

“Damn, you’re really holding on, most people would be unconscious right about now.”

Eris curses her mentally, trying to make his mouth move. His vision blurs at the edges as he feels something sinister claw at his mind. The last thing he sees before he slips into unconsciousness is a flash of black feathers.

———

Eris abruptly shot up in his bed. He frowned, how was he in his bed? Last he remembered… Black feathers. He groaned, a headache forming. Eris remembered being kidnapped and Briallyn taking his consciousness. She had been controlling him when he’d passed out, she musnhave been using the crown. But how was he in his room in the autumn court?

Azriel. It must have been the spymaster. Eris glanced around, eyes darting to the shadows. Nothing. He sighed, getting up and immediately noting he’d been changed into sleeping robes.

Just as Eris was changing into formal attire, his father burst into the room. He grabbed Eris’s arm and winnowed. Eris knew where they were going from the moment his father came in. The dungeons.

Eris gave up, letting his father tie him to the stone slab. He turned his attention inwards, thinking of the feather and what it could mean.

And he kept thinking of that black feather as his father took weapon after weapon to his skin.

———

Two Months Later

Eris tsk’s under his breath as he knocks on the door to his little brother’s supposed home. Queen Vassa opens the door, already looking at him with a scowl. Eris inclines his head to the Queen in a show of respect. The two walk silently down the brightly lit hall to a living room.

Lucien, Jurian and what looks to be almost a hundred girls crowd on sofas and chairs alike.

Eris raises his brows in Lucien’s direction, the tiniest smirk playing on his lips. Lucien steps forward.

“Eris. This is every single girl Koschei has ever trapped.”

This was definitely not what Eris had expected when he first saw Lucien’s very formal invite to lunch.

“And?”

Lucien takes a breath, “They need somewhere to go. They were all turned fae after the curse was broken. Nobody will accept them in the human world and I don’t trust anyone else with them. Plus, one wanted to meet you.”

“You want me to take them to the Autumn Court? Lucien… you know what that place is like. Why not ask Rhysand? He has space.”

“I believe you are plotting to kill our father.”

Eris sucks in a breath.

“You believe right, but it’ll take a while for me to do it. And the court won’t just change automatically because Beron dies.”

Lucien nodded, as if he’d expected Eris to say that. “That’s why we need him dead within the week. And we’re willing to help.”

Eris said nothing, processing the conversation. Suddenly something occurred to him.

“Wait, you said someone wants to meet me?” he asked Lucien.

“Oh.. yeah.”

Eris raises a brow, about to ask for more details when a voice cuts through the air.

“Eris Vanserra.”

All of Eris’s muscles tighten instantly, the voice rings through his soul, almost bringing him to his knees.

He turns, eyes widening at the sight before him. Black clothes, pointed ears, black feathers tied into shining hair. Black feathers.

“You-“

The female smiles, almost cruelly, “I am Y/n L/n.”

Eris bows, despite likely being higher ranked than her.

“Eris Vanserra. However, it seems you already knew that.”

Only then does Eris realize everyone else has filed out of the room as if to give them a semblance of privacy. He hadn’t noticed anyone leaving in spite of the door being right in front of him. He was too caught up in this female, this stranger, and he’d let himself lower his guard. Eris looks up, ripping himself from his thoughts to find the female analyzing him. He lets her while analyzing her, himself.

Y/n has black dots all over her wrists as if forming handcuffs out of ashes. She was likely a prisoner of Koschei that had been freed. If everything was true and Koschei kept woman in the shape of birds, she must have been turned into an ashbird. Ashbirds were a myth, supposedly having generous amounts of power, dot cuffs around their wrists and jet black feathers. Eris sensed both on this female.

“I’m your mate.”

Eris blinks. “Pardon?”

“You heard me.”

Eris stares at Y/n in shock, almost wanting to reject her words. But a mate. Most people waited their whole lives for a mate.

“Do you want to be my mate?” Eris shivered as he said the words. They seemed so unusual, as if even the cauldron didn’t belive he deserved a mate.

“More than anything.”

“You don’t even know me.” He didn’t know why he was contradicting her.

“Lucien’s told me enough.”

“Lucien talked about me??” Eris definitely did not this his day would go about like this.

“All bad things, don’t worry,” she replied with a soft smile.

Eris’s breath dropped, she was beautiful. He let out a breath, not noticing he’d crossed the room until his hand grazed her chin.

“You’re magnificent.” he breathed as his fingers traced the edge of her upturned lips.

Y/n stared at him, eyes wide with determination. “I can help you kill your father.”

Well that turned him off pretty fast. “How?” Eris was back to his usual self, eyes hard and mouth set.

“Take me to him.”

“No.”

“Eris.”

“I won’t take you unless you tell me your plan.”

“Idiot,” Y/n mumbles.

“Always for you, mate. But do tell me your plan so we can wage war.

Shame (Eris x you)

a/n: I kinda like this one

Eris week day 6: AU @erisweekofficial

Shame (Eris X You)

Your POV

You sighed, placing your pen on your desk as you covered your face with your hands and groaned. Physics was depressing. What crazy alien had possessed you to decide to major in it?

Glancing out the window of your dorm, you frown at the flock of students. Your roommates are out there somewhere. There’s a party tonight at the Vanserra brothers dorm. And you can’t go because of a stupid physics test tomorrow. Checking your phone you find that nobody has texted you. Of course. You didn’t really have many friends anyway. Just a best friend studying architecture

A light tap against your window tears you out of your trance and you furrow your brow at the guy outside your dorm.

Eris Vanserra. Majoring in aerospace engineering and the man of everyone’s dreams. With red hair, piercing amber eyes, and the sharpest cheekbones you’d ever seen, how did he not have a girlfriend?

And what the fuck was he doing knocking on your window?

You cock your head at him and he smiles, motioning for you to come out. You debate refusing but you were in need of a break anyway.

Getting up, you slip on white crocs and round the building. The crowd if partiers has passed and there’s only a few people roaming the grounds of Forest House Academy.

You spot the sought after redhead surrounded by a small crowd of people and roll your eyes.

Why’d you even come out here?

You stretch for a few minutes, letting uour muscles relax after hours of sitting. Glancing at the growing crowd of girls around Eris you start to head back to your dorm.

Just as your hand lands on your doorknob a hand grabs your wrist.

“Hey, wait up.” The smooth voice of Eris reaches your ears and your brows shoot up.

“What do you want?” Crap, that was not the tone you wanted to take for the first time you met him.

Eris smiles, dimples showing. “I just wanted to see if you have a partner for the project in quantum mechanics.”

You freeze. “We have a project?”

He chuckles. “Yeah it’s on some subatomic stuff.”

You groan. Great, more homework to add to your already long list.

“So?” Eris raises a brow.

“Huh?”

“Will you be my partner?” He pauses. “For the project of course.”

You blow out a breath. “Sure…?”

“Great!”

You eye him vaguely wondering why he hasn’t left yet. Surely he’ll leave after you go into your dorm right? But that’d be rude. You inwardly groan, this is why you don’t socialize much.

“So, I guess I’ll see you tomorrow?”

Eris grins and the sight makes your heart race. “Meet me outside the library at noon. That’s when you’re free right?”

You nod. “Of course.”

Only after you’ve said your goodbyes and sat back down do you wonder how he knew you were free from 12-3 on tuesdays.

Shame (Eris X You)

The next day you’re rushing to the library straight after your thermodynamics class. You know your Professor Helion will ask you about it given that you usually stay after class to talk with him but you don’t care.

Eris, Eris, Eris.

The red-haired mans name is a mantra in your head. You catch yourself thinking of his splatter of freckles for the fourth time today and curse the guy silently.

You arrive at the library fifteen minutes early only to find Eris already there, fidgeting with the hem of his jacket.

“Hey.” You call nervously, putting your phone in your back pocket.

“Hey there little flame.” Eris replies, smiling.

Girls walking past “ooh” and “ahh” glancing over their shoulders to get a good view of Eris’s ass.

You unconsciously roll your eyes.

Eris frowns. “What? Not a good nickname?”

You blink. “Oh it’s not that. It’s just…” you wave awkwardly at the girls, “everyone’s obsessed with you.” You pinch yourself, reminding yourself of the need to develop a filter on your words.

Eris laughs, seemingly unbothered. “Does it bother you?”

“No. It’s just the way they obsess over some hot guy instead of something like grades.” You grimace as you remember doing exactly that on your way here.

“You think I’m hot?”

“That’s all you heard?”

“Pretty much.”

You sigh through your nose.

“Let’s just get to work.”

Two hours later the two of you are worn. Leaning back in your chair you close your eyes. You’d split up the work with you writing the essay and Eris making the poster then the both of you coming together to make an extremely detailed 3d model of a subatomic particle.

“Can we please take a break?” Eris practically begs.

“Says the one who insisted we don’t.” You snap.

Eris groans. “I’m sorry! Now please. One break.”

You hum. “Sure.”

Eris exhales in relief. “You want coffee? There’s a cafe not far.”

“Yes please!” The thought of coffee is exhilarating in itself.

Eris eyes your exhausted form. “I can get it. What do you want?”

You tilt your head. “Uhh not sure. Order for me.”

Eris nods, turns and is almost at the door of the library when you call out, “Thank you!”

You smile softly as you close your eyes. Maybe the all popular Eris Vanserra isn’t so bad…

Shame (Eris X You)

Eris POV

Eris is walking back to the library when a voice hisses at him nearby. He glances around, spotting a flash of dark hair.

Jurian. His ex best friend.

Eris glares. “What?”

Jurian’s bright eyes meet his. “Come here.” He does, following Jurian to a closed off space.

“How’s the bet going? You seducing her?”

Eris grits his teeth. “The bet is going great. In fact one of these lattes is for her.”

“Awww you got her waiting for you.”

Eris shakes his head. “I don’t like this.”

Jurian smirks at him. “That’s too bad because you have to do it otherwise poor Lucien gets….” Jurian makes a slicing motion across his throat

“I know.”

“So you think you can bed her within the week?”

“I know I will.” Eris leaves Jurian with one last glower.

He finishes his walk to the library, now pissed and tense. When he gets to where he’d left you he’s at a loss of what to do.

You’re asleep, cheek pressed into the keys lf your computer, hair falling over your face. You’re beautiful.

Eris stands there, two coffees in hand staring at you for a long time. Maybe it just felt like a long time, it may have been minutes, even seconds before he moved. He sets the coffees down and packs up your stuff, quietly picking up the computer from under you. He slings your bag, then his over one shoulder and your body over the other. Eris picks up the two coffees and heads for your dorm.

When he gets there he desperately knocks, hoping one of your roommates is home. A brunette girl opens the door and takes him in. Brows raising she steps aside and shows him to your room. Setting you down, Eris looks around.

The room looks like yours, beige walls with pictures and memories strung everywhere. LED lights hang in strands in the doorway next to a messy desk with drawings and writings. He glances around before quickly stepping out and closing the door.

Your roommate watches him quietly.

He’s at the door when she speaks.

“Don’t hurt her.”

Eris stiffens, turning to look at the girl.

“Who are you again?”

“Feyre Archeron.”

“You’re Y/n’s best friend.”

“Guilty as charged”

Eris nods, “nice to meet you.”

Feyre nods back, albeit warily.

As Eris closes the door he whispers to her, “I would never hurt her.”

And Eris prays that he can keep that promise as Jurian texts him.

The text is a picture of him carrying you across the school accompanied by a single sentence

Jurian: You seem to really like her.

Eris rolls his eyes. And what if he did? He frowns. Did he? He had never cared what happened to his project parters before this. He’d certainly never carried someone halfway across campus. One could argue it was so Y/n would like him and sleep with him so Lucien would live. But… for once he hadn’t even thought of Lucien. He liked her. But Lucien, his brain screamed. Jurian’s family was full of gang members and assassins which meant if he didn’t sleep with Y/n then tell her she was a bet, Lucien would likely die. And he couldn’t get Lucien out because his brother was a stubborn ass. Eris cursed. What was he going to do?

There was no way be could keep his promise to Feyre and save Lucien.

His phone dinged again.

Jurian: It’d be a shame if Y/n went missing….

the heir & the emissary (preview)

Okay so this idea has been floating around in my brain for weeks now and I’ve finally caved and started writing it down. This is just a small portion of what I’d like to write. It’s Eris x OC (estranged Archeron sister) and I have the outline of the full story done. Just need to commit to writing it all.

Eris x OC

____

Prologue

// 8 months post-UTM //

Eris stopped breathing.

The pull was instantaneous. This tugging in his chest, impossible to ignore. He blinked once, twice and then sucked in a gasping breath as if returning to the surface of water.

He couldn’t look away. She was beautiful with long, pale blonde hair which fell in waves down her lithe back. Her knee length, black coat cinched at the waist; accentuating her good figure. Her head was turned slightly towards him as she laughed at something a passerby had said to her. Her bright white teeth on display, eyes and nose scrunched up and a loud, joyful sound emitting from her. She looked absolutely radiant.

He watched as this woman wrenched open the door to the tavern and stepped inside, disappearing from his view.

PROLOGUE

// 8 months post-UTM //

“Sir, is everything alright?” one of his guards spoke up, having come to stop a few feet from him. Eris hadn’t realized he’d stopped walking and was now standing in the middle of the cobbled road, staring into the distance.

“Yes, everything is fine. We have much more of this town to check on before sundown but I am suddenly feeling incredibly parched. Let’s stop for a drink before we carry on.”

____

Stepping into the tavern, Eris was immediately greeted with the familiar scent of cinnamon. His shoulders sagged as the tension of a long day of travel began to bleed out of him. He took a moment to look about the room; his eyes roving over the few patrons who had gone eerily still at the sight of him. He ignored their wide eyes and rigid bodies as he searched the small space. There she was.

She was seated at a table in the front of the room, a steaming cup sat on the table in front of her. She had her small, dainty hands wrapped around the mug as she stared out of a nearby window.

“You all get a drink and find a table. I’ll be back in a bit.” His guards easily recognized his dismissal and headed off to the bar for drinks. Eris made his way towards her slowly.

He had just begun to approach her table when she glanced up at him, a small smile gracing her fair-skinned face.

“The heir to the Autumn court. To what do I owe the pleasure?” Her voice was like honey. Her blue-gray eyes stared up at him in a piercing gaze.

“Ah, it seems you have me at a disadvantage.” He spoke. She extended her hand in greeting, which Eris immediately took into his own. He lowered himself into a bow and pressed his lips to her knuckles. “I have been making my rounds through some of the local villages to make sure they are doing well and I saw you come into the tavern. You are absolutely stunning and I just needed to know your name…” he trailed off, raising back into a standing position.

“Tegan. My name is Tegan. I am an emissary for the Winter court.” She replied. Her smile grew wider as she motioned to the empty seat across from her. Eris quickly took the invitation.

“Well, Tegan, it is a pleasure to meet you. May I ask what brings you to the Autumn court?” Eris asked, settling into his seat. He folded his hands together, fingers interwoven, upon the tabletop. Tegan raised her mug to the barkeep signaling for another as she dipped her head in his direction. He took a moment to observe her. She had an ethereal beauty about her, shining as bright as the Sun with sharp, pointed features. She wore a braid in her hair, running across her scalp like a band, covering her ears.

“I came to Autumn in hopes of meeting with someone of power. Preferably someone handsome, regal, if a little ostentatious. If I’m lucky, maybe it will be someone who will sweep me off my feet in a forbidden, whirlwind romance.” She breathed. A small, wistful smile adorned her face. “Do you think you can get me an audience with your father?”

Eris watched her from across the table with a look of horror. Tegan burst into laughter, tipping her head to the side and he caught a glimpse of what she was no doubt attempting to hide beneath the braid. Rounded ears.

“I jest!” She exclaimed. Eris’ expression morphed into a deadpan stare. “You are just the person I am looking for. Viviane sent me to speak with you. I have no official business on this trip beyond introducing myself, that you and your court may recognize me in the future.” His lips twitched upward as the barkeep approached the table and slid a drink in front of him. Even as he gave his thanks, his eyes remained on Tegan.

“Well then, I believe you have completed your task. In any case, it seems a beautiful woman has ordered me a drink and it would be terribly rude for me to leave now without getting to know her.” He did not feel the need to mention that he would have stayed regardless. He felt an odd sense of comfort, sitting here with her. It was a foreign feeling to him; one he was not nearly ready to let go of.

“Yes, I imagine that would seem rather callous. It looks as though you will be stuck here, with no choice but to waste away your afternoon with her.” Tegan winked.

And so they spoke…about their courts, about themselves, about the meaning of life, about anything and everything. They smiled, laughed, and drank. Hours passed in the blink of an eye. And when the sun began to set below the horizon and the tavern grew dim, they rose from their table.

Despite having not completed the task he’d set for himself that day, Eris had never felt so light. In all his years of living, he had never felt so free.

“Tegan, it was a pleasure to meet you.” He stated, helping her to shrug on her coat. He glanced around the tavern, giving a small nod to his guards to let them know it was time to leave.

“The pleasure was all mine, Eris.” There it was again. That tugging in his chest, which pulled taut at the sound of his name on her lips. She smiled up at him, peering through her lashes. “Hopefully I will see you again soon.” She placed her hand on her chest, rubbing in a small circular motion and he knew then that she had felt it too.

Eris held open the door with one hand and allowed her to step out into the crisp night air before him. He took her hand in his once more, placing a chaste kiss against her knuckles. “I will be counting down the days.”

Prologue

CHAPTER ONE

// 4 years post-UTM //

Tegan came to a stumbling halt on the outskirts of a small village. The sun was high in the sky, its reflection in the white snow was blinding. Placing a hand to her forehead in a makeshift visor, she squinted, surveying the area around her. Winnowing, while possible, was not her forte - she could barely make it one mile at a time on a good day.

Taking a deep breath, and pulling her coat tighter to her body, Tegan headed off towards the bustling village street. Her dark colored pants and knee-high boots helped to protect her from the chill as the dry air and still winds created the perfect Winter day for strolling. Village workers were milling about, moving goods and shouting to each other. Children ran past her, screams of joy echoing in their wake. Tegan couldn’t stop the bright smile that lit up her face.

“Good afternoon Tegan!” a voice called from her right. A man, middle aged, with dark brown hair and a coarse beard stood beside a stall.

“Good afternoon Caer! How are you?” Tegan replied, bounding over to the man with a quick wave.

“Doing well on this lovely day. Haven’t seen you round here in a while.”

“The High Lord and his lovely lady have been keeping me rather busy lately but I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to spend this beautiful day visiting my oldest friends.” Tegan stated with a wide grin. She picked up a small trinket off the cart and placed a gold mark down.

“Thank you, dove.” Caer tipped his head in gratitude.

“You are so welcome, Caer. Please say hello to Jassi for me!” She gave him a small wave and skipped off.

“Aunt Tegan! Aunt Tegan!” Tegan’s ears perked up, hearing the enthused shouts of a few children. She turned quickly and knelt down just in time to catch the small body flying towards her.

“Rivi. How are you sweetheart?” Tegan asked, picking up the small child and settling her onto her hip. She felt hands grabbing at the edge of her coat and glanced down. “Rhellan and Fonn, I missed you lovelies! And look at how you’ve grown!”

“We’re good! We missed you so much Aunt Tegan. Mama says you’re really busy keeping the Winter court safe so that we can go out and play everyday.” The small girl in her arms exclaimed.

“Yeah! And Mama also says that you miss us too when you’re gone.” Rhellan stated.

“Well, she is right about that bit. I do miss you all terribly when I’m away.” Tegan twisted her body to locate their mother, quickly meeting the bright, jade eyes of a woman further down the road and she waved. She began walking towards her, keeping a tight grip on Rivi while the two young boys, clinging to her coat, followed closely behind.

“Hanna, it’s so good to see you.” She reached out her free arm, wrapping the woman in a tight hug and pulling Rivi along.

“We’ve missed you Tegan. I’m sure they’re keeping you up to your neck in diplomatic meetings but you can’t forget about your dearest friends. Between these three little ones and their antics, I may just lose my sanity without you coming to see me more often,” Hanna let out a small laugh, running her hand over the back of Fonn’s small head who was now standing at her side.

“Hopefully I will start to have more free time soon so I can come and see these cuties more often. They’re growing so fast I may not recognize them next time,” Tegan chuckled. “How’s the business? Everything going okay around here?”

“Yes, Tegan. Please, you don’t need to worry so much. The bar is doing just fine. Everything has been business as usual around here,” Hanna reassured.

“Good, I’m glad. I worry about you all when I’m away for a while, you know.” Tegan smiled. She lowered Rivi back onto the ground, placing a large, exaggerated kiss onto her rounded cheeks, causing the girl to squeal with delight.

“You know, you look good. Healthy and happy. I’m really glad to see you looking so well and smiling so much. When I met you, I don’t think I could’ve ever pictured your smile being so bright.” Hannah sighed, a small, sad smile gracing her delicate features.

“That was a long time ago, Hanna. A lot has happened since then. I mean, it has been nine years since we first met. I would certainly hope I look happier and healthier now that I’ve been free for almost a decade,” Tegan joked. And though the statement was issued with a lighthearted, breathy laugh and a small smile, it didn’t erase the sad undertone it carried.

“That is true and I for one am glad of it. At least you no longer reek of Spring.” Hanna laughed, giving a small nudge to Tegan’s shoulder. A burst of laughter escaped her and soon the two women had dissolved into a fit of giggles. “Would you like to come in for a drink?”

“Of course. I can only stay for one though! The High Lord and Viv need me coherent when I get back to the palace.” Tegan chuckled and followed her friend into the building behind them. She knew it well; had even worked there for a while.

The tavern was small. Constructed completely from logs, smelling of pine and dimly lit by candles, it felt like home. A few small round tables were scattered throughout the room, and a long bar stretched along the right wall. There was a fireplace burning brightly along the wall to her left,  which had a small plush couch positioned in front of it. ‘Cozy’, Tegan thought as she settled down onto the couch. All three small children came to rest beside her as their mother continued onward towards the bar to get them drinks.

“And what of that boy I know you’ve been talking to?” Hanna’s voice echoed from further back in the tavern. She stood behind the bar pouring various drinks into small glasses.

“He’s not a boy, Hanna. And what of him?” Tegan rolled her eyes but smiled softly.

“Well, I know you’ve been seeing him for a long time now but you never talk about him. I’ve never met him and beyond simply knowing he exists, you’ve given me no information. I want to make sure he’s good enough for you.” Hanna laughed although she tried her hardest to maintain what Tegan thought was meant to be a serious look.

“He’s wonderful as always. I’d love to tell you all about him, Hanna, truly. Please believe me when I say that I want nothing more than to fall onto this couch and gush about him but, I just can’t yet. One day - hopefully someday soon - I’ll be able to tell you everything.” Tegan sighed.

“I trust you, Tegan. Just promise me that you’ll be careful. And know that we are always here for you should you ever need anything.” Hanna came walking around the couch and set the cups down on a small table situated between the couch and the fireplace. All three children leapt from the couch and settled onto the floor around the table, sipping their small drinks. Hanna passed a glass to Tegan and sat down on the couch next to her.

“I know that Hanna. I am more grateful for you than you could possibly imagine.” Tegan swung her right arm over Hanna’s shoulder and pulled her into a tight side-hug. “Once it’s safe for someone like me to be with him, I promise that bringing him here to meet you will be at the absolute top of my priority list.” Hanna let out a long sigh, but nodded her head in understanding.

“Honestly, only you would end up in some secret, forbidden romance.” Hanna let out a laugh.

Tegan shook her head but laughed along with her, “and where is your better half?”

“Oh, you know how he is. Heads out in the morning for a simple task and gets utterly distracted. He’ll be home late again, I’m sure.” Hanna began, flipping her medium length, chocolate brown hair over her shoulder and launching into the latest town gossip her husband had picked up on his daily outings. Tegan leaned back into the couch, kicking off her shoes and pulling her legs up under her. With a drink in her hands and her friend at her side, she felt her lips pull up into a small smile. She was happy.

Chapter One

CHAPTER TWO

A loud creaking sound echoed throughout the palace as two, large, ornately decorated cedar doors swung open. Tegan strode through them into an equally large study, a whisper of wind blowing around her. The room was spacious with bright white marble floors, cold stone walls and a beautiful, warm fireplace with a crackling inferno at the hearth. Before the fireplace sat a large, low wooden table and two plush, dark leather couches. The walls of the study were covered, floor to ceiling, in elaborate bookshelves. Across the room sat a sleek desk littered with papers and a High Lord who looked to be on the verge of screaming. His head was bent, held up by his forehead with two open palms. His mate stood beside him, one hand resting on his shoulder in a comforting gesture.

Two heads of ice-blonde hair snapped up at the sound of the opening doors and Tegan was instantly met with strikingly similar sets of piercing blue eyes. She gave a small smile and she could feel the tension immediately begin to bleed from the room.

“Who died?” Tegan snorted, shuffling into the room and throwing herself onto one of the couches. She kicked off her boots and pulled her legs up onto the couch, stretching her left arm over the back and twisting her body to face her High Lord and Lady. Kallias gave her the most deadpan stare he could muster, though she could see the small twitch of his lips giving away his amusement.

“Oh yes, just make yourself at home,” Kallias grumbled. Viviane let out a small giggle as she moved around the couch and settled down on the opposite end from Tegan. She too kicked off her shoes and brought her legs up underneath her. She reached out to grab a steaming mug from the wooden table and passed it to Tegan.

“Ignore him, we’ve received a rather interesting set of responses from some other courts which we’ll discuss later. First though,” Vivane put her hand on Tegans, which remained stretched out across the back of the couch, “tell us about your day. How is the village doing? Everyone is safe and doing well?”

Tegan smiled brightly. “Yes, everyone is doing well. I spent most of the day with Hanna and the kids. I can’t believe how fast they’ve grown. They are most definitely going to give her a run for her money as they get older, especially Rivi.”

“I don’t doubt it for a second. Serves her right for all the shenanigans she got up to in her youth.” Viviane laughed, a fond smile on her face.

Kallias stood up from the desk and moved to take a seat on the other couch. He leaned back, legs spread out before him in a perfect picture of nonchalance. He smiled softly observing the conversation.

“How’s the tavern doing?” Kallias asked as he leaned forward to grasp his own mug from the table.

“It’s doing well. Just as cozy as ever,” Tegan replied, a mischievous look flashing in her eyes. “We'll have to get you back there for another rowdy night soon. Nothing more entertaining than watching you-” Tegan was cut off by a large hand slapping over her mouth. The corner of her eyes crinkled with joy as her muffled laugh could be heard through his fingers.

“Oh no you don’t. We don’t talk about that night.” He laughed lightly. Tegan stuck out her tongue, lightly licking his palm. His face scrunched up in disgust as he quickly pulled his hand away from her face. “Eww, gross Tegan!” He whined, rubbing his palm against his thigh vigorously.

Viviane let out a burst of laughter, joy shining brightly in her eyes. “Honestly, the two of you are like squabbling children.” Both Kallias and Tegan turned to her with bright smiles.

“He might be my High Lord in title, but really he’s more like my annoying older brother.” Tegan snarked, pointing a thumb over her shoulder at him. Kallias placed a hand over his heart and gasped in mock offense.

“Believe me Tegan, I am well aware,” Vivane laughed. “Now, before you two can get too wild, I think we ought to talk about the letters we received.” In an instant the room changed. Seriousness settled over her two friends and Tegan's smile dropped from her face.

“What happened?” She questioned, looking back and forth between the two.

Kallias cleared his throat, placing his mug back on the table and stood. He brushed his hands over the front of his pants and made his way back to his desk. He picked up two letters and handed them to Tegan. Tegan’s view moved downward from the face of her High Lord to the papers now sitting in her open hand.

Kallias,

I regret to inform you that the Spring court will be unable to attend the upcoming meeting. I have another prearranged meeting I must attend that cannot be postponed.

-Tamlin

__

Kallias,

I will be unable to attend the meeting as I have another meeting which cannot be postponed. I will be sending my eldest son in my place.

-Beron

Tegan studied the letters. She read them once, twice, three times before her eyes moved back up to the faces of her friends. They wore matching worried expressions, with furrowed brows and near identical frowns. She would have laughed at the image they portrayed if not for the gnawing feeling in her gut.

“They are meeting each other… are they not?” Tegan whispered. Kallias let out a long sigh and nodded.

“We believe that may be the case. For obvious reasons we cannot prove it based on just these letters but it seems rather clear.” He ran a hand through his hair in a clear sign of distress. Tegans gaze slid over to Viviane whose head was tilted up towards her mate, eyes firmly on him as she pulled her bottom lip between her teeth. Kallias let out another long sigh and sat down on the table in front of her. He took her hands in his and met her eyes. “Tegan, I hate to ask this of you. It makes me sick to have to even suggest it but there is nobody else in the court that I would trust this with.”

“What is it?” Tegan whispered again, nausea beginning to build within her. Her eyes darted back and forth between Kallias and Viviane.

“We need you to take a small trip to the Spring court tomorrow.” Tegan sucked in a harsh breath. “You don’t need to speak to anyone, in fact we’d prefer if you didn’t. We really just need you to take a look around and see if anything seems amiss.” She looked down at the hands holding hers. The hands that belonged to Kallias, her brother in all but blood. She let out the breath she hadn’t realized she was holding.

“Okay. If you need me to do this, I will. I’m not sure if I will be back in time for the meeting though.” Tegan replied.

“We know. Rhysand will be here with the whole entourage so we figured you might appreciate being away.” Vivane spoke up from beside her.

“While I appreciate the concern, it is unnecessary. I have a duty to this court to be here during these meetings. Besides, I haven’t seen them since I was 16. It has been 11 years since then. I doubt they would even recognize me.” Tegan responded.

“Tomorrow is going to be hard enough for you as it stands. You don’t need to force yourself into the meeting as well, Tegan. You have nothing to prove to anyone.” Kallias spoke in a soft tone.

“It’s not about proving anything Kallias. I am a high ranking member of this court. I need to be there. I promise I won’t cause a scene if that is what you’re worried about.” Tegan let out a small laugh. “Besides, I have personal reasons for wanting to attend as well.”

Viviane let out a breathy laugh, “oh trust me Tegan, we know.” She gave her an exaggerated wink. It was as if someone had relit the fire in the room as the cold seriousness gave way to the playful atmosphere once again. Tegan lightly shoved Viviane’s shoulder and stuck her tongue out at her.

“Now who’s acting like squabbling children?” Kallias exclaimed. Both women fell over each other, into a fit of giggles. Regardless of what tomorrow may bring, Tegan vowed to do anything in her power to protect this family of hers… no matter the cost.

Chapter One

Chapter Two

Chapter Three

Feyre sat bolt upright in a high back chair situated at one end of a long, ornate table. Her legs were crossed at the ankles and her hands folded upon the tabletop. She was the picture of calm, easy, elegance. To her left sat Rhys, covered head to toe in exquisite black garments as he reclined in his seat, occasionally picking at his cuticles as though he couldn’t be any more bored if he tried. And located just behind them, in her peripheral vision was the remainder of her family. She could see two large sets of wings and two pairs of elegantly long legs sitting stock still. She allowed herself to glance around the table, taking in those in attendance.

At the opposite end of the long table sat Kallias and Viviane acting as the hosts of this meeting. They were the sparkling embodiment of icy indifference; their hands clasped together on the table in a show of unity. To their right sat Tarquin and to his right sat Thesan. To their left sat Eris and to his left sat Helion. She allowed her gaze to swivel around the table and it did not escape her notice that still, after all this time, the table was effectively separated between seasonal and solar courts.

“I know we have been here for rather longer than I had originally hoped today so I’d like to start wrapping this meeting up soon but before we can do so, there is one more issue we need to discuss,” Kallias spoke, his gaze falling upon Eris. “As you can all see we seem to be missing two high lords and we received, frankly, suspicious letters from both of them regarding this meeting.” Kallias passed the letters along the table.

“My father has been increasingly paranoid lately and more secretive than usual. That alone is not cause for concern, given my fathers temperament but I’ve also noticed a large number of warriors being reallocated to projects I am not privy to.” Eris stated.

The letters made their way around the table and finally Feyre was able to pick one up. She read them over quickly before passing them to Rhys.

“These are nearly identical notes,” Feyre gasped. Her eyes pulled up to look across the table to Kallias and Viviane.

“Yes. It is worrisome. We can reasonably assume that they are meeting with each other but for what reason we can only guess at this time.” Viviane nodded slightly.

“I can send my Spymaster to Spring to take a look around. Maybe we can see if anything strange is going on over there. Well, beyond the obvious,” Rhys said, smirking. “Think you can get any more information from Beron?” He added, addressing Eris directly for the first time.

“I can try, though he is particularly distrustful of me lately. I’ll see what I can do.” Eris responded.

“We also have someone currently looking into the situation in Spring. She’s there as we speak so we should hopefully have some new intel soon.” Viviane spoke softly. Eris’ head snapped in her direction, flames alight in his eyes.

“You sent her to Spring?” He hissed, hackles rising in agitation. Feyre’s eyebrows shot up into her hairline as she fought to keep the surprise off her face. Rhys tilted his head slightly to the right, the only outward display that Eris’ behavior had also caught his attention. In all the years they had been dealing with Eris at this point neither had ever seen such genuine emotion out of him.

“We asked her to go and she agreed.” Viviane replied, keeping her face neutral.

He shot up out of his seat, palms flat against the table and glaring down his nose at her. “You know how she feels about that place after all she has been through. How could you ask her to go there?” Kallias was immediately out of his seat.

“Sit down Eris. You’re one step away from being out of line.” Kallias growled out. The two males stared each other down for a few more seconds before Eris brushed his hands over his chest and sat back down. Kallias was soon to follow.

What was that? Feyre reached out to the minds of her companions.

I have never, in all my years of knowing him, seen him react that way to anything. Rhys responded.

“She should be back shortly,” Kallias resumed speaking, glancing over to Eris again, “perfectly unharmed.” He then allowed his attention to fall back to the room as a whole, “I have asked a close friend and advisor of mine to take a peak around and just see what she could find. I will get what information I can from her as soon as she returns.”

Eris let out a little laugh under his breath, “advisor huh? Did she get a promotion?”

Viviane let out a small, breathy, laugh as well, “you know as well as I do that while her official title is ‘emissary’ she does much, much more than that for us.” Eris nodded, a small smile upon his lips. Feyre blinked. She could barely comprehend what she was witnessing. A genuine smile? At the thought of another? She looked back at him but found his face to be as blank as could be. Had she imagined it?

The meeting continued for a short while longer and the sun was beginning to go down in the sky by the time they had called it quits.

“Unfortunately, you cannot winnow from within the palace walls. We will need to exit to the main courtyard out front before you can pass the wards and leave. Let us walk you.” Kallias advised, standing from his seat. He took Viviane’s hand, pulling her to stand and placing a kiss upon her knuckles. They nodded to the guard stationed beside the large cedar doors and they were promptly hoisted open. The High Lord and Lady of Winter proceeded through the open doors and down the long corridor which would take them and their guests beyond the palace walls.

Behind them strode Helion, Thesan and Tarquin deep in conversation. Their heads were bent together, large grins on their faces. It was likely that they were spreading some gossip or another, as they were wont to do. Eris followed closely behind them, his hands were stuck into his pockets and his head held high. Despite his posture displaying the usual arrogant demeanor, the furrowing of his brows and downturn of his lips gave away his internal struggle.

Pulling up the rear of the group were the High Lord and High Lady of Night and their Inner Circle. None of them spoke a word but shared looks amongst themselves that screamed ‘we have so much to discuss when we get home’. Cassian had Nesta tucked into his side, one wing being used to huddle her in closer. Rhys and Feyre had their hands clasped between them, walking with Azriel and Mor hovering on either side of them.

Up ahead Feyre saw Kallias and Viviane come to a stop in the entrance to the courtyard. Though she was much too far behind to hear words she could see that they were speaking to someone. Kallias’ body blocked them from her view but she could see Viviane reach out a hand to lightly brush their arm in a motion of comfort.

The group continued to get closer as they moved down the corridor. She heard Kallias let out a small chuckle and saw him nod his head in a clear act of dismissal. Everything beyond this point happened so fast, that to this day she remains unsure if this was all a fever dream.

Eris came to a halt in front of them at the opening of the courtyard, just beyond the wards, removing his hands from his pockets, causing them to come to an abrupt stop as well so as not to crash into him. The body of a small woman stepped around Kallias and came flying at full speed through the courtyard in a sprint. Rhys stuck his arm out in front of Feyre and two sets of wings flared out around her in a protective manner, covering all three females present.

The woman approached Eris and flung herself into the air. He caught her easily around the waist, spinning in an attempt to keep them both upright. A loud squealing noise filled the air which was immediately followed by a bellowing laugh. Her arms were thrown round his neck and her face was buried in the crook of his neck as well. His eyes were closed and the brightest smile Feyre had ever seen adorned his face.

One arm remained around her waist as he lowered her feet to the floor, his other hand moving up her spine and burying itself into her pale blonde hair. She pulled her head back to look at his face, wearing an equally bright smile.

“Eris,” she breathed, “you’re here.” Feyre could see her profile and was able to catch the small tears beading in her blue-gray eyes. Eyes that were so familiar. Eyes that she saw every time she looked at her sister; every time she looked into the mirror.

“Tegan,” he looked upon her face as if attempting to memorize every inch of her. He looked up briefly, catching Kallias’ gaze. Kallias gave him a brief nod which he returned before he was swallowed up by magic and disappeared before their eyes.

Till the End of Time ~ Eris x Fem!Reader

Summary: 5 times Eris fell in love with his best friend and 1 time he did something about it

Warnings: Beron Vanserra, fluffy (for the most part), some sexual references, angst here and there and everywhere

word count: 5.6K

Masterlist

A/N: I have had this concept planned out for a while, and I felt like typing it out today. Idk just feeling lots of love for Eris Vanserra this week!!!! Always Epilogue will be coming out soon I promise, just feeling a little burnt out from it! Also this was also meant to be a drabble because I have to study but I have no self control! (I also didn’t edit this, we are rawdogging this sorry not sorry) Hope you guys enjoy this little fic! Please, as always, like, reblog, and comment your thoughts, you already know it means the absolute world to me! Please eat something, drink a sip of water, and take your meds! Lots of love -Rose <3

1. When they promised to be best friends forever at the age of five

Eris eyed you as you stood behind your mother, hiding behind her like she could protect you from the world. He could have scoffed at the naivety of the little girl. His father had let his five year old son know earlier that morning that he was to be on his best behavior because special guests were coming today. When Eris had questioned who the special guests were, Beron had backhanded him across the cheek for “questioning the High Lord” so hard, that the little lordling was knocked to the floor. His cheek had ached for the rest of the day before his mother, Roux, found him and sobbed as she kissed the tender bruise that formed. She had applied some salve, whispering apologies and sweet nothings into his ear as she rocked him back and forth, cuddling him close before murmuring a glamor enchantment to cover the atrocious crimes of the high lord before his guests.

The Art of Dancing in the Rain

Summary: Eris needs to unwind, reader has the best idea to do exactly that.

Eris x summer court reader fluff

WC:1.5k (short and sweet)

A/n: As a Florida girly, playing in summer rain is so nostalgic that I had to write about it. Also I live for soft sweet vanserra brothers.

Let me know if you want to be added to a tag list general or character specific

The Art Of Dancing In The Rain

Eris was about ready to tear his hair out.. He wasn’t even supposed to be doing work but when Tarquin had handed him the stack of parchment, he couldn’t exactly say no. So that was how he ended up holed up in your childhood bedroom. Windows thrown open at the hopes of chasing in some semblance of a breeze. His skin felt sticky, unused to the summer heat.

Mind reeling with the half-assed documents in front of him. Trade agreements that had so many loopholes, it was a miracle the paper they were written on didn’t resemble swiss cheese.

The two of you were supposed to be visiting with your family. Which is where you were. Probably playing with your sister's new babe. The whole time during her pregnancy Eris would listen as you babbled excitedly about all the things you would do with the baby, hearts practically forming in your eyes. The moment she had gone into labor you had Eris winnow you both and the several bags of presents for the little tot. You had left to give the new family time to settle but you could only stay away for a few months, refusing to miss any major milestones for your precious niece.

You had been particularly excited to show off the little strawberry covered swimsuit you had found, ignoring Eris’ reminder it would probably be too big for the infant. And that the water would be far too cold to swim in at this point in the year.

So here Eris was cursing his dead father for the millionth time. This time for his utter lack of organization. For making him have to take time away from his excited mate and her family. He would love nothing more than to see you playing in the waves, splashing around with the small bundle in your arms.

A small knock on the door startled Eris from his musings. He jumped slightly before he recognized your signature knock. The only one he never had to answer to. Just like he expected, you slowly opened the door and searched the room for him. Your breathtaking smile was enough to make him put down his paperwork. Returning it wholeheartedly.

“Pumpkin, what are you doing here?” He asked, a smile not fading from his face. You crossed the room in a few steps, the light fabric of your dress catching on the wind that had not been flowing through the room a few moments ago.

“Do I need a reason to check on my favorite person?”

“I didn’t realize the babe was in here.” He made a show of looking around the room, like he might be able to find the small child

“Well the biggest babe is in front of me right now” He shot you a fake scolding look that made your head tip back in laughter. “I wanted to check on you, you said it wouldn’t take long and that was hours ago. I had to make sure you weren’t wasting away.” You closed the distance between you two and wrapped your arms around his waist. You head resting perfectly against his chest. His hands came up to rest on the small of your back and he placed a small kiss to the crown of your head.

“I should be done here soon, sweetheart. Go spend some time with your family.” He muttered but only squeezed you tighter. You looked past him, eyes glancing out the window before a breathtaking smile graced your face. You looked back to him and held up a tentative hand out to him.

“Do you trust me?” You asked simply. He didn’t hesitate.

“With my life.” He swore and you wrapped your hand around his and started pulling him out of the make-shift office through the giant sliding glass doors in the room. They opened right onto a small private beach and he tried not to grimace at the unfamiliar feeling of sand under his feet.

“Okay, now that you’ve got me here,” he wiggled his eyebrow at you, “what are you planning to do to me.” He was rewarded with another sweet giggle. When you stopped, you got silent. Waiting for something he realized. That familiar twinkle in your eye that told him you were scheming.

“Just stand here. Should be any second now.” And as if on cue a loud crack filled the sky and Eris vaguely felt something cold and wet drip down his scalp. Then another, and another until suddenly the sky opened up, the downpour of cool summer rain. You let out a sound of pure joy at the feeling of it against your skin. Your dress was already starting to cling to your skin and your hair was already starting to fall into your face.

“We should go inside my love.” Eris spoke up with a shake of his head, trying to free himself from the spell that you seemed to be casting on him.

“Dance with me?” You said a little too loudly, trying to be heard over the loud rain. He cocked his head slightly, swearing he must have heard you wrong. Huffing slightly, you grabbed his hand and gave his arm a tentative swing. Still not entirely getting the hint, you pulled him close to you and threw your arms around his neck. You started swaying slightly and Eris, with practiced hands, came to rest on your waist.

The two of you rocked back and forth, swaying to an invisible song until he leaned down close to your face. “If you want to dance, who am I to tell a beautiful female no?” You didn’t even have time to think of a response before he grabbed your hand and raised it over your head, swinging your body in a dramatic circle. He wanted to drown in the sound of your answering laugh. It warmed his body against the chill of the rain and he spun you once more just to hear that sweet sound again. He spun you around until you were dizzy and needed to lean against his chest for stability.

The small swaying motions quickly turned into a broken waltz. Nothing court worthy as the wet sand made it hard to find your footing but he got to hold you close so he wasn’t going to complain.

As the rain continued to pick up, you started to hum the melody of your favorite song to dance to. He couldn’t help his own laugh that flowed out of his mouth, your joy too infectious for him to feel silly about his current actions. He loved his hands to your waist and lifted you off your feet and into the air in a graceful arc.

When he placed you back on your feet, you wrapped your arms around his neck again and pulled his lips down to meet yours. You tasted like you mixed with the taste of the fresh raindrops that freckled your face and lips. He instantly felt drunk off the taste and pulled you closer against him, tipping your head back slightly to deepen the kiss.

The two of you stayed out for well over an hour. Spinning and laughing and kissing. Until the sky started to lighten and the downpour slowed down to a trickle. You were panting slightly, worn out between the heavy giggling and movement of your dancing.

You pulled his forehead down to rest against his. “I love you, Eris” and the reverence those four words heod as they flowed off your tongue was enough to make his knees weak.

“And I love you sweetheart.” He continued to sway the two of you back and forth until the rain had completely ceased before dipping you low enough for the tips of your hair to dip against the damp sand. He pulled you back up to him, your chest bumping against his and he put a single finger under your chin and placed a sweet kiss onto your lips. Pouring all his love into that point of connection. When he pulled away he couldn’t look away from your eyes. Bright and so full of energy that he truly couldn’t believe you were his.

He was still in awe every day of your beauty and the unabashed way you felt your emotions. Today it was joy and he felt that same feeling mirrored in his own face as he pulled your head against his chest, more so embracing now than dancing and whispered a quiet, “thank you” into the crown of your head. He couldn’t say all the words he wanted to but he hoped you could hear the meaning behind those two. Thank you for loving me, thank you for showing me that goodness still exists in this world , thank you for being with me when I was in a bad mood, and thank you for reminding me how it is important to enjoy the little things like dancing in the rain.

“No, Thank you” Thank you for letting me love you, thank you for loving me back, thank you for still believing in that good and working so hard to make sure it’s still there, thank you for coming out with me and sharing this moment with me. Those words held so much more meaning than either of you could either find the words for but the two of you felt them all the same. As the two of you swayed until the sun started to set along the sea, Eris wished he could bottle this moment and carry it around with him for the rest of his life.

[season of the witch masterlist]

summary: You, a witch, perform a ritual over your mate.

warnings: witchy rituals, Az being smitten with Green Witch, suggestiveness for Cas's bc he's horny for Love Witch, and a bit of Eris being soft for his Chaos witch.

a/n: Happy Summerween! This is inspired by the meme "hot witch wife and me doing whatever the hell she wants" that came from the gif above. Only Azriel, Cassian and Eris are included in this. Idek if these count as drabbles since each one is roughly a little longer than 1K but oh well lol.

Azriel x Green Witch

Candles were lit and placed carefully around the room, casting a warm glow that danced with your every movement. You knelt in the center, drawing a chalk circle with meticulous care. Your eyebrows knitted together, focus unwavering.

A sight that had Azriel’s gaze softening as he watched you from where he stood. His shadows flitted around him, singing in content. Precious, they whispered. Yours. The corner of his lips tugged up into a faint smile. Ours. His shadows were just as smitten with you as him.

"Azriel," you called softly as you shifted into a kneeling position.

He stepped forward, shadows shuddering under the force of your magic as he crossed the chalk circle. Kneeling before you, his gaze flickered to the tray between you, filled with a carefully arranged assortment of herbs, shimmering crystals, and freshly cut dandelions. Through the bond, he could feel your anticipation and nervousness humming like a vibrant current. He sent a soothing wave of calm your way, reveling in the way your muscles seemed to relax.

Lighting the candle on the tray with your magic, you finally look up and meet Azriel’s gaze. A faint blush colors your cheeks at what you find in those hazel eyes. "Why are you staring at me like that?"

“Because you’ve bewitched me.”

You lifted a brow. “I haven’t done anything yet.”

“Oh, but you have.” He grinned, hazel eyes sparkling. “Just being you is enough.”

“Don’t distract me,” you admonished, though your voice lacked firmness, and the blush on your face deepened. “I could be casting a hex on you for all you know… what if I were cursing you into a toad?”

“I’d croak only for you.”

“And if I jinxed you with a body-bind curse that would immobilize you?”

Azriel tilted his head, his eyes boring into yours with a challenge. “So that I’d never leave your side…Are you sure that’s a curse?”

You stared back at Azriel, eyes narrowing in skepticism. But he doesn’t waver. You’re certain he doesn’t even blink, and the sincerity radiating from him sends a wave of warmth through your heart. He’d let you do anything to him.

“You’re insufferable,” you finally replied, though the small smile tugging at your lips betrayed your words.

“And you’re adorable,” he said softly, reaching out to brush a stray lock of hair from your face, his touch sending delightful shivers down your spine.

Before his hand could fall back to his side, you reached out for it and laced your fingers through his, smile widening when one of his shadows wedges itself through the cracks.  “Will you let me focus now?”

Azriel gives your hand a squeeze, silently commanding the shadow between your fingers to return to him. With a wave of your other hand, your spellbook came flying to you from your desk in the corner. In a whirl of green, the pages began to turn, your eyes darkening as they searched for the spell in mind.

“What is this spell for anyway?” Azriel couldn’t help but ask, realizing he had no clue as to what this ritual of yours entailed. When he told you he was going on a long mission–a full week–and you had asked if you could try something, he had simply said yes.

Darkness fully consumed your eyes, the turning pages coming to a stop. He doesn’t flinch when your dark eyes look up to his. To him, they were just another beautiful part of you that he loved.  “It’s a small binding spell for protection. It’s like a stepping stone for the spell I want to cast after our mating ceremony.”

“And no, I won’t tell you what that one is because it’s a surprise.” You added after sensing the next question ready to roll off Azriel’s tongue.

Azriel let out a small huff. He doesn’t like surprises but you’re stubborn and unwavering. At the slight pout of his face, you bring his hand to your mouth and brushed your lips against his fingers. The subtle twitch of his right wing betrayed him, making you smile.

“Now, sit back on your heels and relax.” You instructed, taking his other hand in yours so both hands held his.

Azriel’s wings curled in slightly, the dark talons lightly grazing the floor. His shadows quieted, resting against his neck and lap. You gave both of his hands a tender squeeze before you began to murmur a chant, your voice soothing and melodic. The flames surrounding you both danced higher, responding to your magic.

Your magic enveloped you both, swirling along the line of your circle and casting a shimmering green glow upon the room. The magic from Azriel’s cobalt blue siphons sang in response, fluttering toward your emerald light and intertwining with it, just like your fingers are with his.

The combined force of your magic sent a cool gust of air your way, making your hair sway gently. The dandelions between you both seemed to awaken with a life of their own, the pappus carrying their seeds stirring. A tender flutter of warmth rose from Azriel’s stomach as the dandelions began to rise, his mind flashing back to that day in the field of dandelions when your laughter had filled the air.

The feathery plumes floated gracefully in the air between you both, carrying promises in the wind of your magic. They wrapped around your intertwined hands, morphing into a golden thread in a burst of bright light. Azriel eyes filled with a mix of admiration and something deeper that made your heart race. It prompted you to close your eyes, not wanting to be distracted as you whispered the last words of the spell.

When you finished, the room fell into a serene silence. You opened your eyes, and Azriel watched as the darkness lifted from them, smiling softly as you were brought back to him.

Azriel rises first so that he can guide you to your feet. His hands don’t let go of yours. Though it’s time for him to leave for his mission, his shoulders feel light. As if a huge weight has been lifted off and he feels something he’s never felt before–an overwhelming sense of safety. Even his shadows seemed to give a sigh of relief.

Resting his forehead against yours, he takes a deep breath, eyes fluttering shut briefly. “I’ll come home to you as soon as I can. Crawl if I have to.”

“You won’t have to,” you promised, looking up at him. “You’ll come home to me unscathed and we’ll have our mating ceremony. Then, I’ll show you my surprise.”

His lips brushed against your forehead in a tender kiss, the promise of your future together shimmering like the magic lingering in the air.

I Put A Spell On You | Acotar X Witch Reader

Cassian x Love Witch

Cassian’s head tilted back in pleasure, his large hands falling to your hips. Your lips found purchase against the newly exposed skin of his neck, slowly working your way up. He let out a deep groan when you grinded down against him, his hands kneading into you to press you further onto his growing bulge.

“Sweetheart–”

“Can I–”

“Yes.”

You let out a breathless giggle, pulling back to look down at your mate, your heart shaped pupils making an appearance. “You didn’t even let me finish.”

“Well, let’s fix that?” He smirked at you, his hand sliding up your shirt.

“I want to try something.”

“Anything,” Cassian replied, eyes hooded with lust, before chasing after your lips.

You placed a finger against his lips, stopping them from meeting yours and when your lips curved into a devious grin, Cassian realized you were not talking about sex.

“I want to cast a spell on you, perform a ritual.”

His throat bobbed. “A ritual?”

“Mmm,” you replied, shifting in his lap as you cradled his face into your hands. “One I can only perform when the recipient is in love with me. It makes my love potions more potent. I’ve never tried it before but I’d like to. It’ll be fun…”

Cassian searched your face, eyes narrowing at you. “Fun in what sense?”

“Fun in the sense that it’ll make you feel real, real good,” you replied, hands falling to his chest slowly snaking their way upwards to run down his back and teasing at the area where his wings meet his skin. His wings shuddered, his arousal filling the air.

“Only if I get to make you feel real, real good after.” His hands guided you to circle your hips over his lap again, eliciting a soft moan out of you as you felt his desire for you.

“Deal.”

**

Cassian watched as you moved about your spell room with a grace and purpose that made his heart swell with pride. Since you had become a couple, your magic had been steadily returning to its former strength. It seemed that all you needed was to believe in yourself for your magic to flourish again.

This wouldn’t be the first time you’d work your magic on him but it was the first time you’d perform a ritual on him. He couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation as he laid down in the center of the circle you had drawn. His wings, arms and legs were splayed out in a relaxed yet expectant manner.

You sprinkled salt around the circle, its crystals catching the fae lights hanging above and adding a shimmering boundary. Then, with a dash of cinnamon, Cassian’s nose wrinkled, the warm, spicy scent teasing his senses. As you scattered rose petals with delicate precision, Cassian’s eyes followed you, tracking your every movement.

“How does this work again?”

You made your way towards Cassian, your feet stopping right at his head as you peered down at him. “It’s simple. You think about me and only me—”

“Easy.” He smirked up at you.

With a playful wink, you threw a handful of rose petals at him.  “—while I chant a spell. Your feelings will manifest into a tangible energy that I can then work with and stir into my potion.” You explained as you added drops of honey and more cinnamon to the brewing potion in the cauldron at the edge of the circle, the mixture bubbling softly.

“But what if I accidentally think of other things?” Cassian couldn’t help but ask.

His thoughts did tend to drift away often, usually to not so innocent thoughts of you. However, there were the occasional random ones such as what he’d be having for dinner, the  result of the loud instrument he had gifted Nyx on his birthday or what would make Azriel tick next.

“Then, the cauldron will tip over angrily over your defiance to love me.”

He lifted his head slightly from the ground, relief bringing it back down when he saw you were joking.

“Just don’t think of anything negative. Otherwise, you’ll mess with the spell.” You reassured.

“Okay, got it! I can definitely do that. Think positive thoughts.” His eyebrows knitted together in concentration but then another thought came to mind and once again, he was lifting his head from the ground.

"And why am I shirtless?" He asked with a raised brow.

"Oh that," you grinned back at him, eyes sparkling with mischief.  "That's for my own entertainment."

You began the ritual by lighting candles placed at each cardinal point of the circle. You then took a small, ornate vial from a nearby table, filled with a shimmering liquid—the essence of moonlight collected during the last full moon. You carefully poured a few drops into the cauldron, causing the potion to glow.

As you started chanting the spell, the energy in the room seemed to shift and intensify. Cassian closed his eyes, focusing on his love for you, letting the emotion swell within him. You placed your hands gently on his chest, feeling the strong, steady beat of his heart beneath your palms.

“Stay still.”

“Your hands are cold and it tickles.” Cassian breathed but did his best to not move.

The air around you crackled with energy like a steady, burning hearth. The pink thread of magic began to weave itself around Cassian, glowing brighter with each passing moment. The connection between you two was palpable, a current of love and magic flowing freely. You could feel his love transforming into a tangible force, ready to be harnessed for your potion.

As the final words of the spell left your lips, you gathered the energy with a sweeping motion of your hand, guiding it into the cauldron. The potion bubbled vigorously for a moment before settling into a shimmering, golden liquid, infused with the power of your love and Cassian’s devotion.

You looked down at Cassian, who opened his eyes and met your gaze. “There,” you said softly, a satisfied smile playing on your lips. “How do you feel?”

“Amazing.” Cassian replied, his entire body humming with a pleasant warmth. He felt good, real good. Just as you had said. He reached up and gently pulled you down for a kiss, his lips warm and soft against yours. “You’re amazing.”

Then, he flipped you over, positioning you on the ground beneath him as he hovered above you. His gaze darkened, love and lust simmering in those hazel eyes. “Now, it’s my turn to make you feel good.”

Lost in the promise of pleasure, you failed to close the ritual and your brewing love potion bubbled, turning into something more sensual…

I Put A Spell On You | Acotar X Witch Reader

Eris x Chaos Witch

Eris entered the dimly lit chamber, the hair on the back of his neck rising at the sudden chill in the air. The sensation, once unsettling, now was a welcomed embrace, a whisper of the magic that thrived in these walls. He closed the door behind him.

It was only then that he allowed his shoulders to sag, burdened by the heavy yet long desired mantle of his new responsibilities as the High Lord of Autumn. As he begins to unbutton his coat, the soft hum of a melody reached his ears, a soothing sound that seemed to dance with the flickering shadows. Drawn towards the source, Eris walked into the bathroom, where the air was thick with the scent of enchanted herbs and essential oils.

In the center of the room, a large, claw-footed bathtub awaited, filled with steaming water. Floating atop were delicate petals of autumn blooms, interspersed with sprigs of calming lavender and rosemary. You stood beside the tub, your back turned towards him, but he could feel your awareness of his presence through the bond that tightened in his chest.

Eris leaned against the doorframe, taking a moment to fully appreciate the scene before him. The tightening in his chest blossomed into a pool of warmth, the sight of you bringing him a sense of peace that always left him wondering if this was all a dream. Another tug through the bond reminds him that it’s not.

You wore a flowing gown of deep burgundy, reminiscent of the Autumn Court’s forests, and your hair cascaded around your shoulders. The humming ceased, and with a smile in your voice, you finally greeted him.

“My High Lord.”

A faint smirk tugged at Eris’s lips as he crossed his arms. "What is all of this?"

You turned around to face him, your eyes glowing a vivid crimson as the room darkened around you. "A little treat for you."

Eris raised an eyebrow, his own magic flickering the candles surrounding the bathtub to life. "A treat? For me?"

"Mmm. That’s what I said.”

Your eyes softened back to their natural hue. “Your energy has been all over the place these past couple of weeks. I thought a ritual might help ease your burden." You gestured to the enticing bath. "To relax you a little."

Eris blinked, momentarily taken aback by the gesture. His eyes roamed over the various jars and elixirs lining one of the counters, each one glimmering with an otherworldly light. His gaze returned to you, captivated by the grace with which you moved towards the array. You paused, studying the selection with a discerning eye before picking up a dark vial, its contents swirling with a strange mist.

You approached the bathtub with the chosen elixir, the air tingling with anticipation. You uncorked the bottle, releasing the trapped mist with a soft pop. You brought the open bottle to your nose, inhaling deeply and closing your eyes as if savoring a fine wine. “Frog’s breath,” you said, the corners of your lips twitching at the slight grimace on Eris’s face. “It’s surprisingly refreshing. It’s the toad’s breath you have to watch out for.”

“Of course. Wouldn’t want to go sniffing the wrong amphibian,” Eris replied, his tone laced with dry sarcasm.

You shot him a wry look before turning your attention back to the bath. With a flick of your wrist, you directed the mist towards the water, where it hovered above the surface like storm clouds, emitting a soft hiss as it settled.

Then, you reached into your dress, pulling out a long, vibrant feather from your chest, its colors shimmering in shades of reds, oranges, and gold. Your eyes glowed with a radiant red light as you admired the feather. “A phoenix feather. It brings forth rebirth and renewal—a rejuvenating energy, perfect for new beginnings.”

You beckoned Eris closer, and he complied, his amber eyes alight with curiosity and intrigue. He stood beside you, watching intently as you cast the feather into the bathtub as if it were your cauldron. There was a sudden flash of light, and the water began to shimmer with a faint golden hue.

“Looks like you’re preparing to make a stew out of me.”

You turned your head to meet his gaze, finding him already watching you. Your smile widened into a mischievous grin. “Oh, how you wound me, my love. I thought we were well past the murderous stage.”

Eris chuckled, reminiscing about the tumultuous beginnings of your relationship. How far the two of you had come since those early days. He never would have imagined that the witch with a love for chaos could capture his heart so completely. As you placed a hand on his shoulder, giving him a gentle nudge, he turned to face you.

“Will you let me take care of you?”

Eris gave you a nod, not trusting himself to speak. His throat felt tight with emotion.

You began to undo the remaining buttons on his coat, your fingers moving with a practiced grace. The fabric soon slid down his shoulders and fell to the floor. You continued with his vest and then, you reached his shirt, your nimble fingers brushing against his chest.

As the garment fell away, you took a moment to appreciate the sight before you. Your hands traced the planes of his muscles, the touch light and reverent, invoking a delightful shudder that ran through him like a current. Your eyes find his as your hands begin to trail lower, teasing at the waistband of his pants.

Eris’s gaze is intense, his eyes brimming with an emotion so profound your fingers stop. He finishes undressing himself, knowing that if he allowed you, there was no way he’d have the strength to indulge in the bath before indulging in you.

His hands found purchase on your waist, pulling you closer to him, lips meeting yours in a tender caress. “What next?” He breathes, his nose brushing against yours.

“Do you trust me?” You whisper and though he can only muster another nod, he sends his reassurance through the bond. “Then, get in.”

You extend your hand to him, and he takes it without hesitation, allowing you to guide him into the bath. Even as he settles into the tub, his back resting against the cool porcelain, his hand never leaves yours. The hot water envelops him, immediately easing the tension in his muscles, and he lets out a contented groan.

Bringing your hand to his lips, he brushes a kiss against your knuckles, his amber eyes reflecting the flickering candlelight. "What would I do without you?" he murmurs.

“Guess we’ll never find out. You’re stuck with me now.” You reply, tugging at the golden threads that tether your souls together.

"A devastating tragedy," Eris feigns lament.

"A true catastrophe," you echo, matching his tone.

The two of you share a smile, the look in your eyes contrasting the words exchanged. Your hands move gently to remove the autumn diadem from his head, a symbol of his new rank and the burdens he bears. You place the diadem safely onto the counter and then, you’re returning to his side.

You sit on the stool beside the bathtub, your fingers threading through his hair with a soothing touch. "Are you ready?"

"Yes," he replies and though it’s not the first time you performed a ritual over him, it’s your first time performing one as his mate and for pleasure. His heart flutters in anticipation.

Leaning in, you press a gentle kiss to the top of his head. "Just sit back and relax.”

His breath hitched as he felt the coolness of your magic radiate from your fingertips and seep into his scalp. You began to hum an ancient tune, a melody resonating with the earth's cycles and the changing seasons. The chill of your magic transformed into a soothing, calming caress, gently breaking down the shields of his mind. He closed his eyes, allowing the sensations to wash over him—the warmth of the water, the scent of enchanted herbs, the soft glow of candles.

Eris, who had always been the one to shoulder burdens and stand strong, felt an unfamiliar sensation—a deep, unspoken care enveloping him. It relaxed him, allowing him to be vulnerable in a way he rarely permitted. And in the quiet embrace of the night, he realized how fortunate he was to have someone like you in his life.

Someone who understood the storms within him and embraced them, bringing harmony to his tumultuous world.

I Put A Spell On You | Acotar X Witch Reader

a/n: hope you enjoyed these! Eris's turned out a lot softer than I first imagined. I do intend to post more witchy HCs/drabbles but at the moment, I don't have an idea for one. But if you do, feel free to send it my way!
