Fandom Negativity - Tumblr Posts

I wish people understood that anyone remotely smart does not get news from social media posts. If you're mad at someone posting about their blorbos instead of the news ask yourself why you put random online people that you don't know on the same pedistal as verified journalists and what that says about your susceptibility to propaganda. Most people who harass those who are "being silent" usually ignore the vast majority of other world issues anyway. I say all this as someone who isn't privileged and posts both about my fandoms and politics on my blog.

"If you don't acknowledge inequality and bigotry and suffering in every single moment of your life you're a horrible racist bigot that perpetrates genocide!"

Meanwhile the majority of the time "exposure" is the literal only activism these people are doing. I donate and sign petitions and boycott and I can promise you the literal last thing I want to do when I'm in a server about monsterfucking is wave my moral superiority flag and force people to talk about dead children and mass murder. I'm capable of doing both without having to force them to intertwine.

So, the humans were wearing warm clothes this whole time because it’s cold in the north, right? Seems legit.

Seems like the plot armor also protects from hypothermia.

To my mind the following reasons can explain it:

1. Lunarre is an idiot and doesn’t know a perfect opportunity when it’s right there in front of him.

Why this fails:

Later actions in the anime (and from the games) tell us that he is a cunning opportunist. So really this is the fault of the writers. See point 3.

2. Ufotable fucked up the pacing so badly it affects character interaction and growth.

Why this fails:

Just at the last frame when you think an interesting, very different confrontation between these two will occur - NOPE NOPE MORE STORY MORE ALISHA MORE SHINY CGI SORRY NOPE.

3. Ufotable writers fucked up.

Why this fails:

If they had an explanation for why Lunarre does this, they never show it. No, the ham-fisted ‘I wanna help’ at the end of Lunarre’s anime experience doesn’t count. There was no arc. There was zero consistency. There was no time or effort put into Lunarre as a character, only as a tool to show off Ufotable’s animation skill and to remark how what the audience is seeing is fun, whether it is or not.

Tales of Zestiria the X - Episode 0 So, I noticed this while trying to screen capture the fight between Lunarre and Symmone. Lunarre defended Alisha from Symmone. After Symmone went away, instead of killing Alisha and eating her like he claimed he was planning to do, he left her alone and let her mourn the deaths of her friends. He could have killed her here very easily, and chose not to. What are you doing fox dude?

Rose Is A Hypocrite.

Rose is a hypocrite.

She accuses Lunarre of cowardice, yet until this point she has been the one avoiding him!

She has just waited to happen across Lunarre again on her travels with Sorey, knowing full well a deranged former assassin is running around free as a bird. She even tells Sorey that’s her plan. “I’m sure we’ll come across him eventually!” she says!

Um, no, how about the oh-so-badass and decisive assassin leader deal with the problem before, you know, the shit at Pendrago happens? No, let’s just wait. And then try and murder the problem rather than use your superior knowledge of the situation to understand Lunarre’s side of the story.

Not this flippant shit.

Rose Is A Hypocrite.
Rose Is A Hypocrite.

No wonder Lunarre exploded (literally and figuratively).

Nah, killing him is much easier than facing your own accountability. No flaw can ever touch our noble, pure Rose!

This Scene Bothers Me For A Number Of Reasons, But This Line Really Clinches It.

This scene bothers me for a number of reasons, but this line really clinches it.

Rose loves to go on about how much research she does on the people she’s contracted to take out. By that we can presume she did her homework on Alisha and her skill as a fighter. Rose knew she would have guards, so she brought more guild members to tackle them while others take on Alisha. All fine so far, but then...

Why the hell did she have Lunarre take on Alisha (alone) instead of herself, like she does later, knowing he is no match for her? She would surely have known in advance that Lunarre’s skills were not up to scratch like hers in order to fight the princess and beat her? Unless Lunarre threw himself in there against her orders - though there’s no evidence to suggest this happened - what was he doing?

He was clearly having trouble even when the fight starts, which goes to show he was not the man for the job. No, Rose doesn’t exactly finish it later, but she at least is in control and doesn’t get beat down like Lunarre does here. She is much more of a threat than Lunarre is, that’s for sure. Yet for reasons I can either put down to DUH PLOT or Rose’s fuck up, Lunarre is thrown into the front lines and given a job he’s not ready for.

While we’re on the subject, why did she not back him up - why didn’t the others back him up? They all leave him completely alone at Alisha’s mercy. Rose even asks why she didn’t kill Lunarre when she had the chance. UM?

Oh, and telling him he’s no match just adds insult to injury, doesn’t it? We can only assume this isn’t the first time Rose has said something along these lines to him, otherwise him turning into a hellion just because of one comment would just reek of pettiness, not to mention stupidity.

It would seem that Rose’s capacity for tactlessness caused one of her own comrades to become a hellion. (Again). Hooray!

The kicker? She never mentions him again. She never mentions him, never goes looking for him, doesn’t seem to give a shit that one of her own turned into a hellion before her eyes (she noticed!).

So much for ‘family’!
