It starts with a rumor.
The first-year girls have been saying if you watch the sunset on the local hill for 51 days, your love will be reciprocated. You think high school is far too old to believe in something like this, but you think this sort of thing becomes necessary when your world has been colored in the shades Kuroo Tetsurou. You know it’s a silly rumor, but as you steal a glance at your best friend and see him catch your eyes and grin, you think you’ve fallen too hopelessly in love with him to not try.

“She’s old,” Naoya drawls, tossing the rirekisho aside. “Thought ya were supposed to be good at this.”
“Zen’in-sama,” the nakōdo says, wincing, “she’s not that much older than you a—”

The nakōdo hands over the next rirekisho silently.
Naoya slides the picture out first; pretty is the most basic of his requirements.
And you are pretty. There’s a hazy familiarity to you, too, especially with the way the silk of your hōmongi drapes over your form. The understated wisteria motif sweeps over your shoulder like a path, and he follows the soft cascade of flowers to the swell of your breasts. Perfectly accented, perfectly framed.
But it’s the sweet timidity to the tilt of your lips that snares his attention.

a/n; well i got a teeny bit carried away with this one and made it a short oneshot. oops.
Forever may seem like a long time, but for the right person, you were sure time flies.
The time since you met Geto seemed to only reinforce this idea. Sometimes you swore it still felt like you had just met yesterday, even though you couldn’t even count the number of months you’d known him on your hands anymore.
“Three weeks, right? You come back before New Years?”
“Yep,” you told him. “I’m gonna miss being able to talk to you whenever I want.”
Geto chuckled, “I’ll text you when I first wake up in the mornings and try to catch you before you go to bed.” He wouldn’t say it aloud, but he was gonna miss your excessive texts as well; he found them oddly charming.
The sentiment made you smile, and you laid your head back to look up at the stars again. It was a good night to look at them; the sky was clear and you swore you could see more than usual. They almost seemed close, like you might be able to reach out and brush your fingertips against them, even though they were miles and miles and miles away.
