Voting for CYL8 has now ended! Here are all the characters I ended up giving my votes for. Who did you vote for during this CYL?

Art very pretty. Not too surprised about the theme. I am downright living for how heavy the axe looks. The blade is longer than his torso! The whole axe is WIDDER than him and he’s wearing god damn armor!!! It could be a god damn hammer and the force required would not change. They gave him his dad’s axe and he’s using it like a blunt object. I’m very happy. Look at my boy.

I'm gonna be honest, I like the results so far. The most important thing is that Edie is 1st and I doubt she will be knocked out. I like Claude and Lysithea a lot but I won't be mad if they lose to Marth, Bernie, Bylass, Chrom, Seliph or Eirika. I will keep doing my own thing an voting for less popular faves. But that's just me, if one of your faves is in the top 5 keep voting, don't get cocky like Marth fans did last year.

I wish good luck to all of you. But if you don't really have a horse in the race consider giving a vote to the best pet fish ever, Lilith.

It's 2020 and the only enemy-only unit from Tellius is Zelgius. This injustice can't continue. A vote for Petrine is a vote for the many cool enemies that Tellius has to offer

I won't lie, things are getting difficult. So many favorites, so few votes. But I just had to spare one for Heather. Neph needs her girlfriend in the game yesterday.

Hey IS, why is Mozu not in this game yet? Literally all other non-children characters that are available in all routes have joined the game already. And while we're at it, where is Rinkah? She doesn't join in all routes but she is one of the first characters you meet. Two very glaring absences. Let's make that three counting Lilith who is also one of the first characters you meet, but I already voted for her. WTF IS?

In the end I had to give my last vote to someone with actual chances of winning. Bernadetta is one of my favorites from Three Houses who I never expected to be so popular. Good job Bernie, you did amazing. You already are the bracest hero in my heart!

I could have given her more votes but... I like pretty much all the characters in top 20 this year so whoever ends up winning will be a good choice in my book. We will have to wait a few days for the results, so in the meantime let's practice how to respect each other's choices and opinions. In the end this is just a game and even if we lose, we have a new shot at winning each year. No need to get salty or mad about CYL

I got incredibly lucky with the spring banner and with little over 200 orbs I went from having zero of the 1st year's bunnies, to having all of them. Which means in one clean swoop I completed both my Camilla and Lucina Collection (and Chrom collection, but there's no space for him).

I must say, having a goal in mind makes playing the game a lot more fun, so I'm really glad I decided to strive for a complete collection ever since Brave Camilla.

But now I need to find some other goal (unless Bride Camilla is coming, but you didn't hear it from me). I was thinking about completing all the CYL heroines which wouldn't be too hard. I already have all Celicas (including Duo Alm), all Lucinas, all Micaiahs and all Camillas. I'm missing only one Lyn (the Bride which I can try for in a month), one Veronica (the Mythic one which could be a little tricky depending on my luck) and I already have base Edelgard and Lysithea and considering I get one of them for free it means I basically need to hunt for 3 units.

Wish me luck, and let's hope the new banners don't distract me too much.

This year's CYL will be especially spicy with all the new entries (mostly the Cindered Wolves and Gatekeeper) bursting in out of nowhere. But I've still got to give my first vote to an incredible, hardworking good girl with freckles. No, it's not Mozu this time.

It's Dorothy from Binding Blade! Seriously just look at her. A design that modern IS would never give us. With modern clothes she would look exactly like that girl who makes the fries at McDonald to pay for her education. You know the one, you never talk to her but she's been working hard for years now.

And her character and supports are pretty good too, a bit basic maybe because it's FE6 but you should definetely check them out. I especially love her dinamic with Saul and with Clarine. According to CYL 4 she is in the top 10 most wanted characters from FE6 and we must work hard to improve her position.

So I ask you all, if you have a vote to spare don't forget to help the original village girl, before we had Rebecca, Neph, Faye and the others, we had her. She deserves some recognition.

Or at least vote for someone from FE6, that game needs help.

My vote for the second day goes to Dithorba from FE4.

She is one of the new characters you can vote for this year. And I find her very unique since she is basycally the only pegasus knight who is an evil jerk (there's also her pal Pamela but she is less of a jerk).

Every other named PK I can think of is either morally good or misguided at worst (like Sigune from FE6).

Dithorba is different, she is a piece of sh*t who betrays her country for envy. I love her.

Put her in the game IS, and also as many other evil ladied as possible.

My vote for day 3 is Phila from Awakening.

Look for the brief time she was in the game she seemed like a nice character and one of the best things Heroes does is giving spotlight to forgotten characters.

Remember what happened with Mustafa? Can it happen again but with Phila?

Welp from now on I'm voting for Eirika. We can't get cocky and assume she will remain in 1st place. I've seen many upsets in the past, and we seriously risk another 3H sweep if Marth fans and Eirika fans don't fight till the bitter end.

Holy crap, what is wrong with people?!

I'm hearing of people receiving death threats over a stupid popularity contest. Of voice actors getting harassed by salty people. This is wild!

I thought the Camilla hate in CYL 3 was horrible but at least there were no death threats (that I know of) and people didn't harass her VA or the Fates team or anyone. Man, I'm sorry for you all Gatekeeper fans that have to put up with this crap, and I'm sorry for McCarley.

The "Fire Emblem fans" that complained to him personally on Twitter are not clowns, they are the entire circus! How did they come to the conclusion that what they did was in any way reasonable? Even if there was actually something wrong with GK's high placement (like botted votes) you should go complain to IS, not some innocent voice actor.

Sheesh, it's scary what this popularity contest can do to people. It's a good thing I don't use twitter and can't see the worst of it.

But even here I see some bad takes that put a bad taste in my mouth. What I'm about to say should be obvious to anyone over the age of 6 but maybe some of you never grew up.

Everyone is allowed to their opinion, but you also have to RESPECT people who have the opposite opinion as you.

Just because you can't see anything good about a character it doesn't mean that something isn't there, just that the character is not for you. And there's no such thing as a "fake character" or "unworthy character".

Every single character votable in CYL has a personality and a role they play.

Even the one-off bosses like Gromell (his personality is being cocky and dumb), Haitaka (his personality is being extremely loyal to his country and nationalistic) and Brigand Boss (his personality is being a low-life as*hole who kidnaps young girls to do horrible things to them. Completely unredeemable bad guy).

And for the rare cases like Cain from Thracia and his one line of dialogue, or Altina and her zero lines of dialogue, getting in the game can be an opportunity to actually give them a personality. It worked wonders for Altina and other very minor characters like Ronan, Mustafa and Leila, so what's the loss if a character wins/gets in instead of another?

No vote is a wrong vote, and no character is a non-character, least of all the sweet Gatekeeper, so stop being mean to him!

And Gatekeeper supporters, don't think you are completely off the hook. I've seen some of you acting pretty bad too (bad apples are in every group larger than 5 people after all). You are right to defend your fave, but don't do so by saying he has way more personality and character than Chrom (worded in a way to make it seem like Chrom has no personality) to the Chrom stans for example. It's possible to praise a character without bringing every other character down, and every single votable character is surely someone's favorite and there really is no need to call them bad and boring and their fans stupid. Remaining civilized and being careful not to be mean to other people even unintentionally should be the main goal here. At the end of the day this game could close down before they even make this year's brave banner so what's the point of fighting like animals?

To all the people who vote for a top scoring character hoping that they can keep their position or rise to the podium, you are all valid.

And to all the people who are voting other characters, keep doing you! Your fave isn't less deserving of a vote than any other character who is more "popular" or "important".

Anyway, before I forget, I voted for Eirika today too, gotta keep her first.

Welp another CYL is over. I probably should have sticked to my guns and voted Eirika but my desire for yet unreleased faves got the better of me.

Malice was the first female mercenary of the series and also one of the exclusive character of the most forgotten game in the series, on a level even beyond Thracia. And as the only character of that bunch who is somewhat popular (cries in Frost) she is the one chance of getting that part of Fire Emblem represented.

Kind of like the most popular subsitute kid is the only chance to get the substitutes characters in the game (if it wasn't for the fact that none of them are popular).

As someone who hopes to get representation of every part of FE (Warriors banner when, IS?) I'm hoping beyond hope that this is Malice's year.

P.S.: If Eirika loses for one vote I will cry.

I don't even know what to say exactly. Dorothy is a wonderful character who deserves the world and if my vote can help her get in the game, than I will vote for her and pray. After 5 years about half of the Fire Emblem cast is in the game which means that now is the time for the less known characters to shine.

Do not make the mistake of thinking your favorite character has bo chance of getting in the game.

Make sure to vote for you faves this year too. NEVER. GIVE. UP.

Day 3

My vote goes to Ayaha from TMS.

It REALLY sucks that TMS got ignored despite the surprising amount of support it got in CYL 5. Voting for a TMS character is almost a moral obligation to fight such injustice.

But why Ayaha? Well, the thing is, the remaining main characters are conveniently enough to fill a banner + TT with Touma, Maiko, Yashiro, Tiki and Barry. But doing so would leave out Ayaha who is also an amazing character and deserves to get in FEH. Which is why I vote for her, because if she gets enough votes she might still get in as a Fallen Hero, or in a seasonal banner, or something. That's my hope anyway. Remember to keep voting your faves.
