Femicide - Tumblr Posts
just please give it a minute and read this‼️🚨
Hey guys i know this is goint to be different than my usual content but i always speak up or do whatever i can to help people all around the world. And I want your help this time.
This might be triggering for some people and i'm sorry in advance but please read the whole thing and help me raise my voice and the women of my country's to make this matter known so that the government would start taking us seriously and start taking measures for women's safety.
I’m Turkish and I live in Turkey. I couldn’t be more proud to be Turkish but the government (which they’ve been on power for like 25 years) destroyed our country by doing everything they can. No people in Turkey has a safety right now especially women and children. Why am I telling you all of this? Because they’re releasing the criminals and corrupted our legal and justice system. For the couple of days a woman sexually assaulted by two men and caught by cameras and they released them. But after people started to post this in X they put them in jail back. We’re trying to make justice from social media.
Yesterday, 2 women were brutally murdered by the same man at Edirnekapı, Istanbul. The murderer first killed Ayşenur (19) in his home and called the cops to report the murder then, he went to kill İkbal (19). Semih Çelik murdered those two 19 YEAR OLD girls, İkbal Uzuner and Ayşenur Halil. He slit Ayşenur's throat and dismembered İkbal Uzuner on top of the city walls and he THREW İKBAL'S HEAD IN FRONT OF HER MOTHER. He then committed suicide by jumping from the very same place he dismembered İkbal. And he did all this IN BROAD DAYLIGHT.
He had been stalking İkbal for over a year, his own father had reported him several times, a disturbing drawing made by him and a video of him filmed last year talking about how he wanted to kill İkbal (quoting the exact words from the video: "...The day you saw me, I had come to kill you. I wanted to take a life with me when I left this life, and it was more valuable for me if that person was you. To cut out your heart, your eyes…") were uncovered recently but NO MEASURES WERE TAKEN. That psychopath took two innocent lives and the only thing that the government did was to impose a broadcast ban.
So as a woman who is afraid, i am asking you to spread this and to make this known. We, turkish women, hope that making this matter known globally will help us.
This hashtag #turkishwomenareindanger is also used in X and if you want to see what have been going through for the years you can look up to it and please look up.
The things I’m trying say this with all of that. There’s no justice in our country. There are very dangerous and a lot of groups that hating women and trying to normalize this. I’m talking about normalizing RAPE/CHILD PORN/WOMEN HOMOCIDES/ THREATS/BLACKMAIL/ VIOLENCE and everything related to them.
Why do we need help to raise our voices?
>In 2021, Turkey became the first and only country to withdraw from the Istanbul Convention, a human rights treaty of the Council of Europe opposing violence against women.
>Women's complaints are not taken seriously, and offenders are repeatedly let go without any consequences. Our prisons are filled to the brim with journalists and political prisoners, however repeat sexual offenders, abusers, p3d0philes and murderers are released.
So this means, even if that murderer did not commit suicide he might've not been punished properly for his crimes.
The images below are the details.

Femicide in Turkey
Femicide: The killing of women and girls because of their gender.
On October 4, saturday a 19 year old boy called Semih Çelik brutally murdered two 19 year old girls, Ayşenur Halil and İkbal Uzuner with a gap of 30 minutes. Semih Çelik had been assaulting İkbal Uzuner since she was in high school. Because of this she was homeschooled. They had reported him to the police several times. The police did nothing as always. He got away with this during the day, in a crowded street. He had filmed a video a few days before the murder, saying he was planning to murder her and then kill himself but that God protected her and he changed his mind last minute. This would be prevented if the police cared enough to not let him be out on the streets. However many people like this live among us every day.
This is how normalized it is. This is how much he knows no one will protect her. This is the danger we face every single day. 3 more women were murdered after the incident as I'm writing this.
Here's a link to The Monument Counter. It has an explanation in English. Here you can see the names and numbers of every murdered woman in Turkey recorded. You can click on the years to highlight their names and see the number of how many were murdered.
It is vital for Turkish women to be heard internationally, quite literally, and hopefully this will better the lives of women abroad as well.
I will talk about the details of the murder below. However it is very brutal and graphic. I am warning you. Her mother said "I wish he shot her instead, it must've hurt so much.'
He tore her body into pieces, dragged her dead body and THREW HER SEVERED HEAD IN FRONT OF HER MOTHER down the gates. And then he hung himself off the building.
Men are fearful of being the subject of ridicule from women, while women are concerned about the possibility of being the victims of violence at the hands of men.

As long as this situation persists, it is evident that there are inherent flaws in our societal structure. Those who accept this situation without question may be considered complicit in violence against women.
UN figures for 2022: 89,000 murders of women and girls

It is incumbent upon us all to take responsibility for the actions of our children. Rather than shielding our daughters from the realities of the world, it is our duty to educate our sons to respect women.

regardless of your opinion of taylor swift. if it was ANY OTHER ARTIST. you'd have so much empathy and you'd say the facts: it's horrifying that there was a planned terrorist attack on one of the biggest music tours dominated by female fans.
“i don’t even like taylor swift but-” this may come as a complete shock to some of you, but you can condemn a planned terrorist attack without bringing your thoughts on taylor into it. these attempts at virtue signalling are just unnecessary.
Semih Çelik murdered two 19 year old girls, İkbal Uzuner and Ayşenur Halil. He slit Ayşenur's throat and dismembered İkbal Uzuner on top of the city walls. He threw her various body parts to the street, including her severed head.
Update: According to the information i learn, The killer was a schizophrenic patient who had been admitted to and released from a mental hospital five times. He had been stalking Ikbal for five years and had been sued many times.
In the video he shot a year ago, he tells Ikbal: "Before I leave this world, I want to take someone with me and it is valuable for me that this person is you. I want your heart and your eyes... you know the rest."
Admitting he assaulted Ikbal before
He caused Ikbal to change her school and never go out by herself by herself for five years. And the only time she went alone she was murdered.
He dragged Ikbal to the goverments building and no one helped her despite hearing her screams.
He cut her to the pieces and throw it in front of Ikbal's mother, you can see it on twitter.
He only dated Ayşe because she looked like Ikbal. Ayşe never knew he was problematic, if it's the right word.
He took Ayşe to his own house and strangled her. After the news, her relatives said : "We are grateful that she was strangled, knowing what happened to the Ikbal, God give patience to her mother."
Ikbal's mothers said this: "I wish she was killed by a gun, it would've hurt less"
Goverment is more focused on Palestine and ignoring us. I really love my county but i hate being helpless like this. I am a teenager, i should have fun outside. Not thinking "Am i going to get killed or raped by this man?" when any man walk past me. I can't trust anyone anymore.
So please, please spread this tag. because it was Ikbal and Ayşe yesterday. It couldve be me tomorrow and i want to live. #turkishwomenareindanger.
Hello hello everyone, I wanted to take some time to quickly introduce myself, I am Thia, I am a survivor of the Chinese femicide and the One-Child Policy, which was done away with in 2016. I was adopted back in January of 2004 and have been in the U.S since then. I do not remember much of my birth place, only that I ended up in the orphanage at 6 weeks, which is a little unique as most are placed immediately into an orphanage or killed. I was lucky enough to simply end up in the orphanage, instead of being abandoned in a box or killed off. I have grown up knowing that I survived infanticide, and I have always known that I was left behind by my birth family because of the One-Child Policy, because they wanted a son to guarantee their retirement and carry their name onto the next generation. I had no voice then, I had no one to speak for me, so I want to be the voice to those who cannot speak now.
China has always had terrible history of infanticide committed against Chinese girls. Some 30 million baby girls were abandoned, drowned, poisoned, left in a box, in an alley, the dumpster, they were left for dead. You name it someone had been driven by desperation to do it. And not only were many killed after birth, so many more where aborted when technology caught up and scans could indicate the sex of the baby. Abortion, legal or not, is painful for the baby, it is cruel and should never be an option to throw around as an alternative because someone does not want a child. Abortion is child murder and there is no other way to word it, there is no softening the blow of what abortion truly is, it is murder.

i used to love true crime because i have a fascination with the morbid but i can no longer stomach the thought of consuming media that is like 9 times out of 10 about a femicide

Thousands protest against increasing violence against women in Kenya as they march to the parliamentary building and supreme court in the capital Nairobi [Gerald Anderson/Anadolu Agency]

Thousands of people have gathered to protest in cities and towns in Kenya against the recent slayings of more than a dozen women.
The anti-femicide demonstration on Saturday was the largest event ever held in the country against sexual and gender-based violence.
In the capital, Nairobi, protesters wore T-shirts printed with the names of women who became homicide victims this month. The crowd, composed mostly of women, brought traffic to a standstill.
“Stop killing us!” the demonstrators shouted as they waved signs with messages such as “There is no justification to kill women.”
The crowd in Nairobi was hostile to attempts by the parliamentary representative for women, Esther Passaris, to address them. Accusing Passaris of remaining silent during the latest wave of killings, protesters shouted her down with chants of “Where were you?” and “Go home!”
“A country is judged by not how well it treats its rich people, but how well it takes care of the weak and vulnerable,” said Law Society of Kenya President Eric Theuri, who was among the demonstrators.
Kenyan media outlets have reported the slayings of at least 14 women since the start of the year, according to Patricia Andago, a data journalist at media and research firm Odipo Dev who also took part in the march.
Odipo Dev reported this week that news accounts showed at least 500 women were killed in acts of femicide from January 2016 to December 2023. Many more cases go unreported, Andago said.
Two cases that gripped Kenya this month involved two women who were killed at Airbnb accommodations. The second victim was a university student who was dismembered and decapitated after she reportedly was kidnapped for ransom.
Theuri said cases of gender-based violence take too long to be heard in Kenyan court, which he thinks emboldens perpetrators to commit crimes against women.
“As we speak right now, we have a shortage of about 100 judges. We have a shortage of 200 magistrates and adjudicators, and so that means that the wheel of justice grinds slowly as a result of inadequate provisions of resources,” he said.

China Abandons One-Child Policy

Today, China abandoned its 35 year-old one-child policy.
Based on the now debunked threat of overpopulation that was popularized by Stanford University scholar Paul Ehrlich, the communist government subjected the Chinese people to forced sterilizations and abortions. Many new-born babies were either killed or left to die.
Today, the Chinese population suffers from a dangerous gender imbalance that favors boys over girls at a ratio of 117:100, and a demographic implosion that threatens future economic growth and prosperity.
The one-child policy is a reminder of what happens when governments are allowed to interfere in deeply personal decisions of individual citizens and their families.
i follow a lot of social media activists and political commentary pages but what doesnt sit right with me is that hardly anyone is talking about whats happening to afghan women.
little girls are being married off to older men. they are being raped and forced to give birth. they cannot go to school. they cannot see a doctor. they cannot speak in public. women who speak out in protest are tortured or killed.
