There is an obvious difference between when i disappoint Nick Valentine Vs. When i disappoint Hancock. When i see a Nick disliked something i apologize and reload my last save and make 100% sure i dont do it again. When i upset Hancock i go "oh fuck you" reload and take his ass home and leave him like hes in timeout. Like i love them both but fucking hell half the time i dont understand what i did wrong.

Hgghhghghhhgh feeling sad and gay rn so I'm just gonna dump abt why Hancock x Danse is actually peak and how I see it going (totally not foreshadowing for my fanfic btw that's gonna come out in like 7 years)
Like like so its easy to just ship enemies to lovers cause duh we love enemies to lovers but like its so insane to me how perfect it is for Hancock n Danse to come together, like they're practically destined to hate each other because of the Brotherhoods like hatred towards anything not human but its also like kinda evident Danse isn't fully dedicated to thise ideals, cause he appreciates kindness to a kid and ghoul family and like theres a good few moments where he doesn't like cruelty towards them so obviously he doesn't like HATE ghouls. But he does hate Hancock and uses that anti ghoul stuff to cover up the fact he hates Hancock because he just drives him insane.
Like we all know Hancock's super charismatic and joking dialogue, unless its innapropriate he finds a way to make a joke out of a situation. And Danse is a big no-nonsense guy, so like of course he hates Hancock's lack of a serious attitude to many things. Not to mention Danse dislikes sarcastic dialogue and Hancock feels like the kind of guy who uses a lot of exaggerated sarcasm (two kinds of autism cause I'm acc both), like it feels like they were DESIGNED to be so opposite of each other to the point they hate each other.
But also like they're so DAMN similar, they both have these heavy themes of lonliness in their stories (this post goes over it rly well pls check it out its also where I got my neurodivergent danse and hancock HC) and at the end of Danse's story they can find relatability in feeling cast out from a place they called home. Hancock from Diamond City, and Danse from the Brotherhood.
Thats why I think this would literally be the best kind of slow burn fanfic, like they take a VERY long time to warm up in situations where they're forced to hang out and verryyy slowly the realize "huh, maybe this guy isn't as bad..." And like they ease into becoming sorta friends, like omg I have sm headcanons about them in their like awkwards friends phase like Hancock trying to learn guitar and Danse secretly having a silly or dirty sense of humor it drives me crazy.
Then like to get into the more shipping stuff cause thats what y'all are here for obviously 🙄 Love to think Danse's hatred towards Hancock was always a sorta mask for liking him or getting confused about those feelings cause yk like autistic people getting romantic and platonic feelings mixed up? Yeah thats happening here. Hancock honestly is such a rizzlord he could date anyone and honestly just deflects by flirting all the time, but he does get specialized crushes and sorta knows hes likes Danse. He keeps shut cause he can't bring himself to say it out loud but he def gets a kick out of watching Danse go "huh" when he really subtly flirts and whatnot, mostly using his "oh I flirt with everyone" excuse to cover up hes kinda queer...
I don't imagine Danse as a very rageful person... Unless Hancock is around. Something about him drives him MAD and hes especially flat or sarcastic around him cuz he hates (is in love with) him so much, and he def has his more irrational descisions made out of just overthinking and angry gay thoughts. He def goes into his closeted religous-dad homphobe arc when it comes to Hancock and just... God its so fun to imagine him getting all frustratingly flustered these 2 are made for each other. It definitely calms down as they become more friendly with each other, but I love to think he also gets more bold the closer they get... So like Hancock is ofc his super confident charismatic self but I smile so hard imagining Danse catching him off guard with like an unexpected flirt or something GRHRHEHR guys I'm normal I swear.
Anywayss tysm for listening to my queer rant about these 2 losers, I'll do my best to get that fanfic out for my other Danse x Hancock enjoyers... Depending on how well this post goes I'll make some more content abt these two like more relationship hcs, mayhaps some more... Silly headcanons and ofc I'm gonna make art of them dw.
