James POV:
It froze me in place. I couldn't take my eyes off it. Was it real? It looked so real even though it sounded like a lie. Like a fairy tale. Or have I really lost my mind. My head is playing tricks on me. Or maybe still dreaming? I'm fucking mental! What the-
I stop overthinking about all the possible scenarios as I hear more sobs leave this tiny child. It's crying. It's real. This baby is really here. And it's crying. I observe it. She looks like a little girl, possibly no older than 7, and very skinny. Her blonde hair falls all over her face and her tiny (I think) ocean blue eyes turn red with tears. Her whole body is bound with a rope from which it looks like she can't get free from. She looks terrified. She looks like she can't move, she breaths deep between sobs, and every single tear falling down her tiny face breaks my heart into a million pieces. I just want to grab, hug and comfort her, but I'm pretty sure that would scare her even more. I must look like a monster in her eyes! She tugs at the rope, probably wanting to be as far away from me as physically possible. Still, I can't leave her like this, she's still a small child and at this point she can hurt herself.
"Hi" I say in the softest tone I can manage. I whisper very quietly, because I'm afraid that even a little louder might scare her even more. Her little oceans close on my eyes. Her whole body begins to tremble horribly. She cries harder and harder, each tear breaking my heart more and more.
"I promise it's all okay, I won't hurt you sweetheart" I say very gently without taking my eyes off her tiny, terrified body.
"There, let me help you" I say as I bring my hands closer to her. I just want to untangle her, but when she sees my hands coming, she only panics more and screams:
"No, no, no! Mr. Giant, please don't kill me! No! Cain! Cain!!"
Her cries and screams make my blood go cold. I pull my hands away from as quickly as possible.
"Okay, I understand, no touching. Sweetheart, you're safe, I won't hurt you" I repeat, but the tiny child doesn't seem to believe me. She only struggles more and her cries get louder. I didn't want to scare her, I meant to help! Although now that I think about it, I'm really huge compared to her. I understand that she's scared, but I can't leave her like this because she'll hurt herself. I have to help her somehow. I look around the kitchen for something to help me. I see one of the stuffed animals, a tiny one, probably not much bigger than this girl. An elephant. A pink elephant that Mark and I bought some time ago. It was so small that it easily fit in my hand. I quickly grabbed it and looked back at the kid.
"Hello sweetpea, this is Mr. Elephant. Mr. Elephant is very worried about you and wants to help you. Will you let him?" I speak very quietly and gently, showing her the toy, hoping it will work. The tiny girl looks at me from time to time for a moment, but she can't take her eyes off the toy. I can see that she wants to hug it, but she can't. It works!
"It's okay honey, Mr. Elephant will help untie you and then you'll give him a big hug, okay?" I speak very softly and carefully, taking advantage of the fact that since she has focused on the toy, she cries less and calms down. I approach her with a toy in my hand and when I don't see any negative reaction I get close enough for her to touch the toy as I grab the top of the rope with my other hand and lift it, incredulous how light this child is. As soon as I manage to lift the rope, I lower the toy on the countertop located under the girl and put her on my hand. Fear returns to her eyes.
"It's okay sweetheart, Mr. Elephant has no fingers so I have to help him untie you, but you're about to give him a big hug" I say as I start to untangle her. She's shaking, you can tell she's scared, but she's trying to be brave, she doesn't cry that much. Every now and then I whisper some gentle words to her to comfort and calm her down, until I finally manage to untangle her.
"You did amazing, you're very brave" I say, putting the stuffed animal next to her in my hand and she immediately hugs it tight. I smile to myself and place my finger gently on her back, massaging it. At first she looks like she wants to push me away and run away crying, but after a while she calms down and doesn't run away from my touch.
"I'm James. What's your name sunshine?" I ask as I slowly walk over and sit down in a chair by the table. The tiny girl doesn't respond for a moment and looks like she's about to panic again, but then she manages to say a quiet:
"Lizzie"
------------------
Cains POV:
I just woke up and I knew something was wrong. Or more likely everything was wrong. Lizzie wasn't with me. I searched the entire hideout, but I couldn't find her here. I checked my stuff afterwards and it turned out she had taken my bag and hook. She went borrowing. I can not believe it! How could I have let this happen?! What if something happens to her?! How if a human finds her? I have to go save her!
----------------
Marks POV:
I heard strange noises coming from the kitchen. I knew James was already up but I didn't understand what's going on so I decided to go.
"Hey, hey, there's no reason to cry" I heard my husband's voice. I walked into the kitchen and saw that he was sitting at the table holding a stuffed elephant in his hands. Oh no. He went crazy.
"Baby?" I said in a worried voice as I stepped closer.
"Honey, please stay calm and quiet, you'll scare her" he said in a soft voice. Oh hell. He's lost his mind. He really lost his mind.
"Baby, please put that stuffed animal away. It's a girl, right?" I speak in a soft tone. I don't want to scare him. Who knows what it will be now? Should I call an ambulance? James stares at me askance for a moment, then has a sort of epiphany.
"I'm not talking about that stuffed animal. Come closer, look" he says, I decide to listen to him. I move closer and see that he has something else in his hands. I look and see... a little girl. Oh my God.
We are both insane!

----------
Their meeting was not long. Jake begged Lucas to let him go and promised to come back the next day and explain everything, because at the moment he was under the influence of too much emotion. Lucas agreed. He really wanted to come back, but when the next day came he realized that it was dangerous and that he couldn't do it. At least not yet. Many days passed in this way, and eventually weeks. Jake blamed himself for bringing up the subject of borrowers at all, and now he had lost a great friend. Lucas didn't hurt him when he shrunk and released him, but his earlier words and how gigantic he was compared to Jake made him unable to go back there. He tried to force himself to, but he was too afraid. He never wanted to go back there, he was afraid that everything could go very badly. In the end, he decided to give up his friendship, even though he suffered a lot from it and fell into an almost depressive state when he realized that he would never get back what he had before.
Lucas was no better. The boy blamed himself for what he said, but still he couldn't suddenly change his whole way of thinking, all his life he saw the tinies as toys, that's what he was taught by society, and suddenly he saw his friend in this form. It wasn't easy for him. He had many questions but when he saw how Jake was he couldn't bring himself to ask him, he let him go because he believed that he would come back and explain everything. He believed everything would be fine. But Jake did not come back. Lucas was slowly losing his mind day by day, worrying and being mad at his friend at the same time, falling into paranoia. Ultimately, he didn't know what to do with himself, he was waking up at nights having nightmares about Jake and trying to find him around. He didn't want to give up.
--------------------------------------
Lucas didn't want to go to school. Recently, he could not eat, drink, sleep or functionate. There was nothing unusual about it, after all he had lost someone he considered family. Jake had a special place in his heart that was empty now, as if pierced through and bleeding. He didn't want to get up, but he knew he was worrying his friends and his mom, who looked like she was considering more and more of locking him up in a mental institution. He understood why they were worried, but he couldn't live like this. It was even worse when his mind played with him and reminded him how he and his friends had killed that tiny and replaced it with Jake. He felt terrible and decided that he had had enough and went to the forest. He hoped his mom would at least think he went to school and lived a normal life, but his plan was obviously different. He just wanted to lie in the woods where no one would see, criticize, or worry about him. When he reached the forest, he lay down and went to sleep. Maybe he'd at last have peace of mind in his sleep.
He slept long. His head was slowly starting to hurt. He heard screams around him, which suddenly stopped. He opened his eyes and saw what he was holding in his hand. Blood ran down his fingers. There was so much blood and broken flesh. This small, delicate creature was in his hand, completely crushed, destroyed, broken, with an unreadable expression on its face, dead. He crushed a tiny. He killed someone again. God, he did it again. He started hyperventilating. He lost his sense of everything. He tossed the ruined corpse away from him and backed away in panic.
"I didn't mean to, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." he started crying and panicking. He didn't mean to hurt anyone. Oh my god, what if it was Jake?! He now understood why Jake didn't come back, he was a monster even in his sleep! He was a murderer who hurt everything around him. He sat down on the ground under a tree, panicking, but as soon as he sat he heard an unpleasant crunch. Hell no. He got up and saw that he had just squashed some more tinies. He sat on them. They were innocent, they did nothing wrong, and they got the worst death under a huge weight, crushed to the thickness of a sheet of paper, destroyed, bled out, with no chance of rescue. He panicked and screamed, trying to get out of there. He did not mean to do this. He really didn't mean to do this. There was so much blood and dead bodies. The bodies were ripped, organs out. He though he would be sick. There were screams coming out from everywhere. There was tiny flesh everywhere. It was all his fault. He did that. He murdered them. He had to run. To leave. A scream pulled him from his run. Lucas got up. It was a dream. Luckily it was just a fucking dream. Tears were streaming down his cheeks, he was covered in cold sweat and his hands were shaking. Even though it was just a dream, the feeling of murder stayed with him. He really didn't mean to do it.
----------------------------
Jake couldn't believe what he saw. When he saw Lucas lying in his forest, not far from his hideout, he wanted to run away and preferably move. But then he realized that the boy was sleeping. He was clearly having a nightmare. Tears ran down his cheeks, he struggled in his sleep. Even though Jake was still terribly scared, he couldn't look at Lucas at that state. He had to do something before the boy hurt himself in his sleep. He shouted on top of his lungs to wake the boy up. As soon as he shouted the boy got up and looked around everywhere and on his shaky hands. He looked like he'd seen a ghost a moment ago, but it was a bit better now. Jake sighed with relief. As soon as he opened his eyes again and looked at Lucas, he saw that his gaze was fixed on him. A cold shiver ran through his body. Lucas was shaking, crying, and now he was looking directly at him. Jake froze in fear. Why did they have to meet like this again? Why did they have to see each other after so many weeks under these circumstances?
"Jake..?" Lucas whispered uncertainly through his tears, not blinking as if he was afraid that when he looked there again, it would turn out to be only hallucinations. Jake took one hesitant step back. That's when Lucas stroke in a panic.
"Don't leave, I'm begging you!"

Angst, mental health issues, being scared, panicking, non-consensual touch (not sexual), curse words
------------------------------
Lucas was panicking. On his knees, he moved a little closer to Jake, who was equally emotionally unstable and scared.
"Jake please don't go, i'm begging you" the boy was very afraid that what he was seeing was hallucinations or that Jake would run away. He didn't want to let either be true. He couldn't lose him again. He would never allow it.
"Jake please don't be afraid" he said in a trembling voice through tears "I would never.." he didn't trust himself not to hurt him but he couldn't live without him for even a day longer.
Meanwhile, Jake was fighting with himself. On the one hand, he was terrified, he didn't want to be here, he was afraid that Lucas would hurt him, and on the other, he saw his only friend in total disarray, he missed him for weeks and didn't want to leave him anymore. He didn't know what he was doing, but he let his heart carry him instead of choosing his mind. He took a hesitant step forward.
"I'm not going anywhere, big man" Jake said in a shaky voice but through a soft smile. Lucas approached him on all fours. Jake was doing his best not to panic and run away. Finally, after so many weeks, he had a chance to meet up with a friend and he didn't want to ruin it. Especially since he also had to help Lucas calm down.
"Jake, I missed you so much" the boy sobbed, placing his hands behind the borrower. Jake immediately tensed up. He couldn't handle being right next to a giant in the middle of a breakdown (so VERY unstable giant) blocking his escape route. Looking up at the shadow Lucas was casting over him, he remembered the words the boy had said the first (and last) time they talked about borrowers, before Lucas found out who Jake was. Jake felt really tiny, he was afraid, but he tried to trust his friend. When he looked at his face, which was filled with tears, he knew that Lucas needed him now. He knew he couldn't leave him like this and that he had to deal with the fear that was eating him up.
"It's okay, it was just a nightmare" he said in a shaky voice, trying to sound comforting. Lucas stared down at him, eyes red, sobbing softly.
"Jake, I'm really really sorry. I never meant to.. I would never hurt you! Why.. Why didn't you come back..." he cried again much louder until it was hard for him to breathe. It hurt Jake right to the heart. He hurt Lucas, not the other way around. He never wanted to do that. After all, they were brothers until recently. Lucas was the only one who cared about him and Jake left him anyway. Guess fear was stronger than love.
"I'm sorry, I.. I was just.. I was afraid. I didn't want to leave you like that but after what you said and how you acted I couldn't.. I'm sorry..." Jake was shaking with fear and shame. Tears began to form in his eyes.
"We're friends! How could you think I'd hurt you?!" Lucas squeaked, squeezing his fingers closer to Jake. Jake immediately reeled in fear. Lucas woke up from his anger.
"Jake.. I.. I'm so sorry.. I promise I'll never hurt you but I can't ever lose you again. Please understand this" he mumbled as he straightened his fingers and placed one against Jake's back and massaged it. The boy immediately panicked even more.
"Don't touch me, please" he begged in horror, trying to pull away from the giant fingers, but he had no ways to escape. He didn't understand what was happening. Lucas always kept his distance and asked if the touch was okay, but now even when he was begged not to do it, he didn't take his fingers away. Jake was afraid. He was fucking scared because Lucas had changed. He turned into someone... unstable. Unstable at best. Dangerous at worst.
"It's just me, Jake. Don't run away" Lucas said, calming down but wrapping his fingers around Jake. Jake panicked. He definitely didn't want that, and he wasn't prepared for it.
"L-Lucas!" he shouted "I'm scared! Please don't touch me!" Lucas's hand immidently stopped moving towards him and moved back a bit. "I'm not ready for touch, please give me some time, you're so.. huge and I..." Jake continued to panic.
"I don't want you to be afraid. I won't hurt you" Lucas was saying "But, I can never lose you again. Please relax and we'll do it slow."
"Slow? It? What are you talking about?!" Jake panicked as he looked at Lucas' face, which turned strangely sad and dark. Fucking dark like villans.
"We're going home, Jake." Lucas grinned scary. Jake had never seen that look on his face before. Lucas looked like a... killer. Like a psychopath. Like a monster getting his prey. Hell no. Jake panicked and struggled. What was he thinking to even get close to Lucas?! This was obviously a bad idea! Jake had no goddamn chance against the human, but the he gave him space and time.
"I don't want you to be scared. I want it to be as normal as possible. Please calm down and let's go home" Lucas said, smiling softly. Jake didn't feel better about it though. He knew something bad was about to happend and he didn't want to get to know what it was.
"Please, l-let me go Lucas" the borrower begged, but looking at the human's face, he knew there was nothing he could do. In the time they haven't seen each other, Lucas has lost his mind and has become erratic and dangerous. He was afraid that Lucas would hurt him. The first time they met like that it was different, Lucas acted strangely and was stunned by what he saw but he wasn't...aggressive. Now he wasn't aggressive either, but there was something terribly dangerous about him that could hurt Jake. It felt like aggression, but it wasn't quite. It was something different but just as powerful.
"How many times do I have to tell you that I won't hurt you?! Just trust me already! Why are you acting like this?!" Lucas began to scream, exploding into madness. "You left me alone with no explanation and never came back and now you're acting completely different! I don't recognize you! Give me back normal Jake! Give me back my brother!" he shouted, grabbing Jake with both hands and lifting him up. Jake burst into tears and began to struggle. Lucas' screams were way too loud for his tiny ears, and he was terrified. Suddenly his friend grabbed him up and squeezed him in his hands, shouting at him. Jake's heart was beating very fast and it was almost painfull. Tears flowed like a river. There was no Lucas in front of him, just some beast. The same one he woke up the first time he asked Lucas what he thought about borrowers and then he told how he killed one. This beast had just gone mad and woke up, now posing a threat to him. Lucas' huge hands pressed with hellish force against Jake's body as he cried and struggled to get out. He felt this might be his end. He felt something snap inside him.
"Please Lucas! I will do anything! We'll go back home! Please!" Jake screamed as his vision darkened and his breathing became ragged. Lucas killed him. Lucas would have killed him if when Jake stopped screaming, Lucas hadn't stopped shouting and squishing his body.
"Home.. we'll go home" mumbled Lucas looking at Jake, waking up from his madness. As soon as he realized what he had done, he stopped squishing Jake and panicked.
"Fuck! No, no, no! I didn't mean to, please Jake wake up! I didn't mean to! Jake! Jake!" Jake could barely hear Lucas' screams anymore, his eyes were too heavy and something in his chest was in the wrong place. He didn't know what was going on anymore. He lost consciousness. The last thing he heard was repeated over and over:
Home.

Mention of: Bullying, abuse, witchcraft; angst
--------------------------
Leo was having a terrible day. He was bullied every day at school, but today was worse. His main bully - Bill - and his two friends - Andrew and Dicky - took all his stuff and ruined it. Even his phone. Bill was the worst of them all, he took his things, money, food, and even sometimes beat him when he was really pissed off. Dicky was his right-hand, helping out. Andrew was different. He hardly ever did anything, usually just watched. He didn't seem that bad, he even helped Leo once - when Bill was beating him, he told him enough was enough and they should stop and go. He didn't know if it was because he felt sorry for him or if he was worried the teachers would see them, but at the moment it was just helpful. Mostly, however, he just stared, no visible emotion written on his face.
Today Leo is done with it. Bill was ruining his life for no reason at all. He decided to curse Bill. He had practiced witchcraft for some time to be ready to end the abuse. Today Bill crossed the line that made the boy crazy and he did it - he did the curse. All he had to do was put some herbs in a jar, a note with an intention ("make him feel as small as Leo felt"), then put the jar somewhere close enough for Bill to crush it, so the course would be imposed on him. As simple as that. Everything was going well for a while. Untill..
He did everything. Eventually he will get his revenge. He went to school and waited long enough for Bills and his class to have PE together. He was sure the locker was Bills. He planned almost everything. Almost is the key word. He put the jar in the locker on the edge so that it would be as easy as possible for it to fall out, so that the curse would immediately start working. He didn't go to PE that day. He remained hidden behind several lockers, waiting for his bully to return.
He waited over 20 minutes until he heard something. He looked back and saw Bill's locker opening.
"Yes, finally" he whispered. He would finally get his justice. He came closer and saw Andrew. Oh shit. Andrew. He took Bill's hoodie causing the jar to fall.
"NO!" Leo shouted. He didn't have time to blink when he realized he couldn't see Andrew anymore.
"What…?" He panicked. "It was supposed to make Bill feel small, not make Andrew disappear!"
He didn't have time to think, he just ran closer. When he heard a quiet scream, he knew he had not disappeared Andrew. He looked down. He was there, on the floor, no more than four inches tall.
Andrew panicked. He was just supposed to take Bill's hoodie to the gym class and play some more basketball, but suddenly he became tiny. Like a mouse. And then the worst thing that could have happened happened. The boy his friends were bullying was just there while he was vulnerable. Andrew started shaking. He didn't want to die. He ran away.
"Wait a sec!" He heard Leo call out, but he wasn't going to listen. He was hiding under the locker, shivering. He felt his heart trying to break out of his chest. He was terribly scared. He was going to be killed by Leo, that was for sure. Before he knew it, a hand grabbed him and pulled him out from under the lockers. He looked into Leo's eyes. There was guilt and even sympathy in them. But there was something else too. Something resembling...
Amazement.

Monsters, being scared, mention of suicide (i think it's all?)
--------------------------
Lily was a unlucky girl.
There was a compulsion in her village, or perhaps more of tradiotion at this point, that one person was sent every month outside the safety of the village to fetch fruit that only grows in the forbidden forest.
Why was it called "the forbidden forest"? Because you couldn't and shouldn't go there. Monsters of all kinds lived there, from these that just resembled cute but mutated animals (like a rabbit with horns) to those scary ones eating people.
Lily knew she was totally screwed when she was elected. She knew she would propably not make it out alive.
She left her village hoping her death would be quick. Or that she would find a painless way to.. end this ordeal. Yes, she preffer to end herself rather than being eaten alive.
There came a monster. She could hear it. It was smart enough to approach her loud enough to let her hear. She didn't know if the beast wanted to play "cat and mouse" kinda game or if it liked to go for a chase or to see fear i'm its victims' eyes but she knew no predator would be that loud naturally. She heard it's loud steps. It was HUGE.
She ran as fast as she could. Even faster. But the beast was getting closer and closer. She could already practically feel the paws of the beast on her when..
Something lifted her up. Or perhaps someone rather than something.
"Phew! That was close. Are you 'kay?" a low and a very loud voice asked her. When she realised how high up she was and who was talking to her she panicked even more than when the beast attacked.
Tears streamed down her cheeks.
She was in the palm of a hand of.. half human, half bird? A harpy? A siren? An angel? She didn't know what to call what she saw and at the moment she did not care. Whatever it was, it was terribly gigantic and she didn't have the slightest strength to fight back.
Most likely she just became a fast meal for an overgrown pigeon guy.

Kai and Harper had a difficult relationship from the very begining. Their situation was difficult because suddently they had to face the fact that they were somehow dependent on the other, even though they didn't want to be.
See, Harper was a giant. She lived with her giant adoptive parents practically since birth (since she was 4 months old) and she couldn't handle the fact that her parents decided to become foster parents to a human.
Kai had, let's say, a hard childhood. They had a huge trauma caused by giants. They did trust noone, especially the bigger people. Their foster parents turned out to be amazing people, but you cannot say the same about their new "sister".
Today the situation between the siblings became.. aggressive. Kai and Harper were home alone.
Luck had it, just when Harper decided to go down to the kitchen her "sibling" was there. Long story short, Kai's mere presence annoyed Harper, and Harper's annoyance scared Kai. When the girl realised how scared the younger one was she got mad and started yelling at them.
"Fine!" she screamed as tears were streaming down Kai's face and they were shaking in horror "If you see me as a monster, I'll show you a monster!".
She just wanted to give them a lesson. Just a lesson. She really didn't want to hurt them. She wasn't a bad person, she was just.. sick of them.
She didn't think and.. and.. before she knew what she had done, Kai was in her storage.

Stargazing
!❤️No warning this time, just fluff❤️!
----------------------
Jade just woke up. Once she realised she's alone in the bed, she got up almost immediately, dressed, and went downstairs.
When she went down to the kitchen, she saw Miles.
Miles was making breakfast, humming along to his favorite song. He was wearing a business suit covered by an apron. He was focused on making breakfast until he turned off the pan and began to pour the food. Instantly his big, beautiful brown eyes focused on his tiny wife.
"Good morning honey. How did you sleep?" he said in a gentle tone as he prepared the plates and cutlery.
"Good morning sweetheart, okay but it would be better if we were still in bed" she giggled.
"True" Miles laughed. Meanwhile, Jade came onto the table and sat down at her small table. She watched her husband serve food on their childrens plates. Everything was perfect. She couldn't believe that she'd once been afraid of him, that once Miles hadn't been her whole world. Now she couldn't imagine her life without him and without the kids.
"Kids!" Miles yelled. Jade sighed as she looked lovingly at her husband.
"What? My sunshine needs affection?" the man laughed and leaned in to kiss his wife.
Although it was probably their billionth kiss, Jade felt the same way as if it was the first one. She couldn't describe how much she loved this giant for his tenderness, love, ambition, hard work and for just being himself. When they broke apart for a moment, she looked deep into his eyes. Everything she was looking for was in his eyes. There were stars in his eyes that shone for her. He leaned in for a kiss again.
"Ew!" shouted their older daughter.

Being scared, angst, betreyal
----------------------------
Hunter and Nate had been friends almost since childhood. They spent most of their time together, their families liked each other, they were practically family themselves.
They had no secrets from each other. Well.. almost? Nate was honest, but Hunter had a tiny, little, small secret. Or rather, a huge secret.
So, the problem was that 1/14 of the population was affected by a disease that, depending on the patient, could make the patient a few inches tall or (worse) grow to over 50 feet. Unfortunately, Hunter fell ill with this disease.
He didn't want to tell anyone (except his parents of course) and took his medication whenever he should. He didn't even tell Nate.
One unfortunate day, it so happened that Nate decided to scare Hunter and come to his place earlier than planned. He sat quietly in his room until he heard the door open and footsteps into the kitchen. He immediately knew who was back, but he didn't expect his prank to go so badly.
Long story short, Nate hid and went "Boo!" on Hunter, who dropped his meds because of it. Nate was curious what it was and started asking his friend, who in a fit of emotion panicked and ran out of the house. Of course, Nate ran after him.
And so they ended up in the woods, Nate watching in horror as his best friend turned into a giant, and Hunter horrified and staring at Nate who looked as if he would never speak to him again.
"N-Nate..?" Hunter panicked.
Nope.
Nate turned and ran as fast as his legs could carry him. He caught his friend doing something he shouldn't have.

Foster care, being scared, trauma
Characters:
T!Tommy, T!Wilbur, T!Techno, G!Phil
------------------
Tommy, Wilbur and Techno were brothers. Or rather, that's what they wanted to be called. They were abandoned children (or more likely teenagers) from their town. They had no families, so they just had each other.
Of course, it's hard for children their age to cope, especially when people on the street harass you so much, going as far as... No, we don't want to talk about it.
The boys tried their best to cope. Really. They did everything to protect each other, but when a guard chased them for stealing food (which they needed because they hadn't eaten for several days) they ran into the forest. This forest was known for dark stories about monsters, but it was their only escape route.
They were very surprised when they did not encounter bloodthirsty monsters in this forest, but a nice man who (not behaving too suspiciously for a freak living with beasts) invited them to his house and took care of them.
It was Phil. Or rather, their new dad.
Everything was going great, Phil took care of the boys and their lives become peaceful and safe until one day when...
A forest fire caused Phil to reveal his terrible secret to save his sons' lives.
Phil turned out to be a... giant.
(Don't worry, i'll post all of them, I just want to know which one first ☺️)

--------------------
Mark stood stunned, staring at his husband and the tiny girl in his hand. James laughed slightly at that.
"I felt that way too, calm down babe" he said quietly looking at his husband. James gaze then returned to Lizzie, who was clinging tightly onto the stuffed elephant. It was obvious that Lizzie got scared again seeing Mark, her eyes filled with tears again, which softened the hearts of both men.
"Oh, calm down, sweetheart, it's just my husband, Mark. Don't be afraid, love" James whispered gently, stroking her hair. Lizzie didn't look any more calm. Now she avoided the eyes of both men. Earlier, when she was alone with James and the plushie, even for a short moment she did not feel like James was a murderous beast that humans are, but he felt like a really nice person. Almost like... a parent? No, she should never use that word. Certainly not talking about a human. Now, however, when Mark apperead, she was terrified again and didn't want and couldn't be around humans. Mark didn't seem half as nice as James, he was much taller and more powerfully built.
"W-Where are her parents?" Mark asked his beloved. James lost his sparkle in his eye. He thought Lizzie was some kind of revelation from heaven, their tiny little dream child, but the truth was that she might have parents who were looking for her right now. After all, it was impossible for a child of her age to live all alone. James didn't wish her parents anything bad, but he was silently asking the Universe that Lizzie would need him.
"I don't know..." James muttered under his breath.
"Lizzie, where are your parents?" James asked quietly, stroking the girl's back with one finger. It had calmed her before, but she didn't seem calmer now.
"Returned to the Creator or something.." Lizzie mumbled softly, remembering what Cain had told her. That their parents are already in a better place and they are happy there and they don't have to hide anymore. Lizzie had always wanted to visit them or live with them, but Cain said that there will come a time they will, but it will be in far away future.
The men's eyes widened. Something was wrong in their stomachs now. That poor little girl was... alone?
"Are you..Who's looking after you Lizzie? You're still a little too young to be all alone.." James whispered, frightened by the vision.
"I'm not too little! I'm already 8 years old! And I have a big brother!" Lizzie was indignant at being described as a little girl.
"Big brother?" Mark asked confused. Lizzie flinched. Mark's voice was deep and resonant and didn't remind her of anything nice. Her legs trembled at very the thought of being in front of humans, and here she had to face them and talk to them. James didn't even seem very human, he was kind and quiet, but the other one reminded her that she was in hellish danger right now. She needed her brother to be able to come back home.
"Y-yes, I have a big brother and he is scary and brave and he will save me!" exclaimed the girl with feigned confidence, wiping tears from her ocean blue eyes.
"Save you? From what exactly?" James asked, his voice breaking. He was afraid he already knew the answer.
"Well.. Humans. You know bestial monstrous humans?" Lizzie said in disbelief that these men didn't know what was going on. Mark and James felt as if their hearts had stopped beating for a moment. As if something had died in them. James felt tears building at the corners of his eyes. He felt very sorry for Lizzie and her brother and didn't understand how they could see them as... monsters?
"How old..?" gasped Mark, his voice cracking "How old is your brother?"
"Fourteen! He's big now and he's not afraid of anything!" Lizzie said with a smile, but her legs trembled with fear whenever she made eye contact with one of the giants. Both men's hearts stopped beating properly. A 14-year-old boy taking care of his little sister all by HIMSELF?
"Where is your brother now?" Mark said coolly. Lizzie immediately stopped smiling. His voice sounded... scary. The man, however, had other plans than to scare the little ones. He wanted to find the boy and help him. Help them. He knew that James wanted it too, but he was too jittery with all this information to take the initiative.
"Home" Lizzie mumbled, snuggling tighter into the elephant. The borrower rules she already knew were "don't let humans see you" and "don't tell humans where your hiding spot is if you get caught and you don't live alone." She had already broken the most important one, but she did not plan to say more. She had to wait for her brother to show up to save her.
"Where-"
"Aren't you hungry Lizzie? Why don't I make you some breakfast?" James cut in, interrupting his husband. He though that putting too much pressure on a girl who is on the verge of crying again is not a good idea. Plus he thought Lizzie was like 6 years old and skinny, so if she's 8 she's on the verge of starvation.
"Bre-k-fast?" The girl said, as if testing out the word. As if she was using it for the first time, even as if she was hearing it for the first time.
"You know, the most important meal?" James flinched at her response. Lizzie didn't know why he reacted the way he did, but she found it a little ironic. Instead of her panicking, James looked more scared now. Lizzie just shook her head.
"I'll make... cereal." James mumbled, trying to calm himself down.
"Call my work and say I'm not coming today because I'm sick" he said quietly, turning to face his husband. Mark nodded. James then proceeded to prepare the meal, and Mark sat in his place, smiling at Lizzie, who just hid more, cuddling up to the elephant.
-----------------------
Cain knew he had to save his sister at all costs. He hoped she was still in the tunnel, but unfortunately she wasn't. Approaching the end of the tunnel, he didn't expect to hear humans on the countertop.
Oh shit. Are they up?! Why so early?! Cain was horrified at the thought. He couldn't hear much from the tunnel exit, but he did understand one thing. They said something about food. The only vision his mind creates told him that Lizzie was supposed to be the main course.
"Over my dead body" Cain whispered as he prepared to rescue his sister.

------------------------------------------
I was fucked.
I'm sorry for using that kinda language but I really was. You see, my whole life has been destroyed by thoese damn giants.
Sorry, I don't think I introduced myself yet, I'm Zack.
Me and my mom were always a team. After my dad has passed away when i was 6 she was the only person important to me. It was basically us two against the whole world.
Something that might also be important for you to understand my story is the fact that we live in a world full of humans (like my and my mom) and giants. Giants are.. humanoid 60-ish feet tall creatures. Easily to say - their dangerous. The government rightfully understood the danger and the fear of us humans and created 'human-only' zones, cities, countries even. There were also a few 'giant-only' zones, but I'm not really sure why. It's not like the giants would fear us. Most of the places thoese enourmous beasts live are simply 'mixed-zones', places where both humans and giants can live. Thank God that me and my mom always lived in a 'human-only' zone. I was always skeptical and yeah, terrified of giants.
My mom was different though. Maybe she was just dumb (sorry for saying that mama) but she just couldn't sense danger. She worked in a company that required her to sometimes travel to 'mixed-zones' or 'mixed-cities'. I was always opposed to that but she.. enjoyed it. She even said that she made some giant "friends". I never believed in their honesty though.
But what changed my life once and for all, had happened when I was just 16. Well, going on 17 already, but yeah, still 16.
I never ever once questioned my mom's romantic life after my dad has passed away. She just.. never acted like she wanted to start a new relationship. And I was very okay with that.
But one unfortunate day, just after she came home from one of her business trips she told me that she has got a boyfriend.
That was weried to know, I mean c'mon, picturing your mom having a crush, dating, falling in love etc. is just.. weried and kinda disgusting if you ask me.
Of course, I questioned her and soon I reaveled her secret.
"Zack, I have been dating him for a little over a year. I was just scared of how you might react. But now, I must tell you since.. he proposed."
That felt like I was stabbed straight into the heart. How could she have kept having a boyfriend a secret from me for so long? Why would she? Being lied to by her felt horrible. I thought we were a team - we always told echother everything. But I guess I was wrong.
Really soon I found out that my mom's boyfriends (and now fiances) name is Andrew, that he was just slightly older than her and had two sons about my age, he was also a widower, and according to my mom, we had much in common.
I really couldn't understand why my mom would keep her boyfriend a secret. Untill she revealed she wanted for us to move in with him and his sons. I mean, she had a lot of planing to do, as she was soon to get married again, so that was kinda understandable. I wasn't opposed to moving into a new home, but changed my mind really quickly when my mom reaveled that our new home would be in a mixed-city. I mean, I was never even in that kind of a city, never even seen a giant in real life and was hella terrified of them! She should've understood me. Before she 'fell in love' she always has.
I asked her a milion times if Andrew and his sons can't just move in with us but she always found some excuse. Once, our house was too small, then his older son didn't want to switch universities, another time Andrew was scared of loosing the job. It was always a stupid excuse. Untill she finally reaveled the truth.
You see, Andrew, my mom's husband-to-be was a giant. And so were his sons.
To say that I was mad and scared was an understatement. I felt lied to. I felt like I was being dragged into something I didn't want to be a part of. I, understandably, questioned the honesty of my moms relationship, which angered her the most. I was angry with my mom for over two weeks after finding out about the size of my soon to be step-family and barely spoke with her. I couldn't be away from her for long though and forgave her, but in my heart I still had plenty of doubts.
My friends didn't help ease my fear. I told my best buddies at school and the stories they have told me only made me more afraid and suspicious of the said Andrew and all giants at that point.
"Don't y'all remember Joseph from middle school? He moved to a mixed-city with his parents. He was stepped on by a giant and died!"
"That's nothing compered to what happened to Amy. A quick death is better than being tortured. She is my cousin. She moved to a mixed-zone because she wanted to go to a better collage. One of her giant male classmates kidnaped her and done horrifying things to her. Once she was found she had missing limbs, many scars.. She was mentally, physically and sexually abused by him for months, untill they found the giant. And he barely got any jail time for that! She's still in mental health hospital!"
"My dads best friend Thomas was freaking eaten alive!"
Yeah, I think 3 stories is enough to give you the idea of how freaking terrified I was of the said 'step-family'. Some might say I am a specist (a person that discriminates based on the species (giant and human)) but I wouldn't agree. I don't really think that a human can be a specist becouse we are in the more vaunurable position. Also, I don't hate giants becouse of their size. I hate and fear them because of how brutal and cruel they are towards humans. Maybe a giantophobe would be a more appropriate term for me.
That day was the worst day in my entire life. And it's really hard to beat the day my dad had passed away.
We sold the house. We were at the airport. All ready to go to a mixed-city, over the wall that the government made.
Mom was all smiley and happy, her nose never leaving her phone.
"Andrew texted me that he and his boys are at their side of the barrier already, waiting for us. They can't wait to meet you!"
Right, didn't I mention that they all knew echother, but me?
"I just can't wait to show you the city and our new home!"
I was standing there quiet. No matter how many times I told my mom that i don't agree with her choice of dating a giant or for the fact that I didn't want to move away into a mixed-city she would always say that I will change my mind once I overcome my fear. Hell, I would.
I held my bag closely, trying to hold onto whatever I have not to lose my composure. I was terrified and angry, sure, but showing thoese giants from the start that they have some power over me, even though it was obvious, wasn't something I would do. At last, if I could hide my emotions.
Just a few minutes before our flight, a flight in the opposite direction landed. I saw all those humans, coming back from the mixed-city, most of them seem okay. That made me confused and curious. Would it really be all that bad?
Untill I saw a girl, probably my age, on a wheelchair. I mean, there is nothing wrong with disabled people, don't get me wrong, but she was crying so she easily got everyone's attention. A woman run up to her.
"Mom!" The girl sobbed, opening her arms to hug her mother. The woman tried calming the girl down but she just kept crying and screaming "It was just supposed to be a student exchange program!! This scary giant crushed my legs!"
The girls voice echoed in my head. It was different to hear stories of distant people, but to see someone hurt by thoese monsters in front of my own eyes was completely different.
Even my mom lowered her phone and looked at the girl with pity in her eyes. I prayed to the Lord to open her eyes and return home safely with me.
"Poor girl" she signed "That must have been a.. horrible accident".
I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
"Accident?" I looked at my mom angrily, finally letting my emotions out "A giant crushed her legs".
"Honey, I'm sure they didn't mean to.." she looked at me, somewhat shocked at my defensiveness. I shouldn't have expected her to understand. She just simply couldn't sense danger. And that could get both of us killed.
"Her legs were crushed by a giant, mom!" I raised my voice, even so slightly as I couldn't believe how blinded she was by her feelings.
"Zack, calm yourself down" she looked at me more strictly now, as I was getting other peoples attention. I couldn't bare the thought of how stupid this all was. I just wanted to be home. Or anywhere at that point. Anywhere but in a spece where giants were allowed.
"You-" I began to speak.
"The flight 16-399Bhc** is preparing to take off. We ask all the passengers to board the plane within 5 minutes. Thank you and have a good flight" said a voice from the speaker.
"That's our flight!" My mom cheered up and grabbed my arm, pulling me as she ran to the plane.
She was so excited it made me feel like I was gonna puke.
Don't get me wrong, I always loved planes but this time I felt uneasy. My whole body was shaking ever so slightly, I felt like I was about to puke, I swear I heard my heart pumping blood, my head was spinning..
That can easily be called my worst ever flight.
After we landed I needed a good 15 minutes in the bathroom to regain my composure.
"Honey, are you alright?" I heard my mom knocking "Are you sick?"
"I'm fine mama, I'll be okay" I mumbled, though I didn't feel like I was going to be okay for at last next few hours. I was also convinced my life was about to end so why bother worrying my mom. But before I cross the barrier of the airport, I didn't have to see or interact with any giants. Maybe me feeling sick was actually a gift from God to give me more time to get ready for what was about to come? As I was almost ready to go I hear my mom speaking:
"Honey, are you sure? I texted Andrew and he and Ethan are worried sick. They can drive us to a hospital"
And then I got sick again at the mention of the giants.
Oh, you might not know who is who. Andrew is my moms 45 year old husband-to-be, but I'm sure I have spoke about him already. Ethan is his older son, he was 21 back then. His younger son - Ryan - was 17.
After, what appeared to me as a minute and to my mom as an hour I finally could exit the bathroom.
My mom rushed me, saying that the boys have been waiting for us long enough. I was feeling less and less okay. I couldn't keep my emotionless demeanor. My eyes felt heavy, my heartbeat fasten as well as my breathing, my legs were shaky and I was not able to say even one word.
As I saw the enourmous glass wall behind which were a ton of giants, I felt like I was going to faint.
Or simply turn around and run.
My mom stopped in her trucks and looked at her phone. After maybe three seconds of reading what I supposed was a message form Andrew she looked into the direction of 3 giant men waiting and her eyes started to freaking sparkle and her smile grew.
She then looked at me and pointed in the direction of thoese giants, who weren't looking at us, thank God.
"That's Andrew! And Ethan and Ryan!" She said with an excited expression.
Andrew was surprisingly the shortest of the group. He had brown hair that were turning grey, a short beard, thick glasses, a blue sweater and more elegant pants. He was overall a handsome middle-aged dude, if it wasn't for the fact he was freaking enormous.
Ethan was talking with him. He had fluffy brown hair and was slightly taller than his dad. He had a few freckles and dimples on his cheeks, his smile was truthfully welcoming. His white hoodie also looked very comfy.
The tallest one was the youngest - Ryan. He had black, short hair, a pierced ear and stylist clothes. If he would have been a human, he looked like one of the popular kids that you always look up to. I really liked the belt he had, same with the rings on his fingers.
All three giants had the same eye color - hazel.
My mom grabbed me again and pulled me into the direction of the glass wall that was the last thing keeping me outside of the reach of giants. She looked so happy to see them that it was hard to recognize her. She only ever smiled at me like that before.
Soon enough, we were close to the exit of my comfort zone. My fear only grew as we were closer to the giants. It was still probably about 20 feet between us and the door when Andrews eyes rested on us. I felt the enourmous gaze and felt like I was stung. Soon both his sons eyes locked on me and my mom. She realized quickly and slowed down with the running. She then waved at them. Andrew and Ethan waved back. Ryan stood there, looking maybe a little conflicted but surely also kinda annoyed.
At that point I could feel the blood boiling in my veins. My heart ached. As well did my head. My legs were shaky. I felt like I couldn't catch my breath correctly.
If you think you're not socially awkward, three giants looking down at you with their enourmous eyes, almost scanning you as if you were an insect would change your mind right away. And if you are socially awkward like me? Well, you would feel as if you were just about to die.
My mom rushed me again, ready to exit the safe space, that only allowed humans. I walked behind her, but I wasn't as excited or as fast. Partly, becouse I wanted to be out of the giants reach for as long as I could and partly becouse I was feeling worse and worse.
To be honest, I don't know what was making me feel bad. Maybe it was all the emotion, fear, anger and all, maybe it was my mental health killing me and shouting at me that danger was close, maybe it was the horrible flight, maybe it was my body being sick. I don't know.
What I do know is, each step I took, the more powerless I felt. My legs felt to weak to hold my bodyweight.
My mom was already by the exit door when she turned around to rush me again. I was maybe 7 feet behind her, still surrounded by the enourmous gazes of those three giants, two of which were smiling. Their smiles made me sick in my stomache, but Ryan who was the only one not smiling made me feel ever worse somehow.
I totally expected my mom to yell at me to hurry up, based on how excited she seem but she just stared at me for a secound with wide worried eyes and then returned to me.
"Are you okay honey? You don't seem too good"
I wanted to answer her but it came out as a soft yelp. I thought I was going to puke again.
Faces of the giants became more serious and worried. I didn't like that expression either, to be honest.
I looked back at mom as she reached out to me and raised her hand to my shoulder for comfort probably.
"Are you scared Zack? Is that it? Because if it is, I assure you, they won't hurt us. Ever." She spoke in a soft, quiet voice. Her expression didn't show anger but she looked more understanding than any other moment of the past few weeks. She spoke with such confidence I could have believed her.
Well, I maybe even would have if I didn't faint.
Because just a moment after she spoke my vision went black and my body felt weak. The last think I remember before fainting were thoese scary gazes and my mom yelling:
"Zack!"

A Not So Average Night
CW: Minor character death
Next: Definitely Not A Mouse
————-
Tiny feet padded quietly through the dark tunnels. Particles of dust swirled through the paths as the sudden movement disturbed them. The air was stale and musty after being blocked from the outside world for so long, but that never bothered its resident.
The almost silent sound of tiny footsteps stopped and a minuscule brown hand pushed a kitchen tile out of the way. The 3.7-inch borrower poked his head out of the walls and surveyed his surroundings before cautiously stepping onto the open counter. The resident humans had called it a night, giving Tucker plenty of time to scavenge what he can.
He walked across the counter as his eyes scanned the area for any packages of food left out. His food stores have depleted immensely over the last few weeks. For some reason, the humans have been out of the house more often which meant less food in the home. Tucker had been forced to eat the tiniest amounts so he at least had a little bit of energy. His stomach rumbled loudly at the reminder.
Frowning, he squinted through the darkness towards the table in the middle of the kitchen. His brown eyes lit up at the most incredible sight in the world: an open bag full of chips left on the table.
Without missing a beat, the borrower unlatched his fishhook from his satchel and jammed it into the edge of the counter. He let the clear fishing line fall from his fingers all the way to the floor before scaling down himself. Leather boots landed silently on the tiled floor, and with a flick of his wrist, the hook detached from the counter high above him. Tucker caught the hook in midair with practiced ease after so many years of the same repetitive motions.
The small man wasted no time running across the open floor to the table as fast as his legs would carry him. The instincts ingrained in Tucker's mind screamed at him to find cover and stick by the walls, but he stubbornly continued through the quicker route through the middle of the room. There was no point in wasting valuable time when there were no signs of the human couple.
Tucker reached the looming table and hurriedly started swinging his hook to latch onto the table. With a quick tug to ensure the hook wouldn't pop out on him, Tucker confidently scaled the cliff-like height with expert speed.
The yellow bag sat nearby and Tucker's mouth watered. It was like finding an oasis in the middle of the desert. He crouched down to peer inside the bag which was completely full of the greasy chips. Very carefully, Tucker crawled into the bag. Each movement slow and precise as he entered the aluminum cave and made his way to the chips. He shifted ever so slightly to his knees and cautiously pulled a chip closer to him. Tucker grimaced as the bag crinkled loudly around him. To Tucker, It might as well had been an alarm announcing the borrower's presence.
His heart rate spiked and he froze like a deer in headlights. His little hands clutching the chip to his chest like it was a life raft as Tucker anxiously listened for any human noises coming from the bedroom.
Tucker waited with bated breath for what felt like an eternity before deeming himself safe. He hung his head and willed his body to stop shaking for a moment. Glaring at the chip that nearly got him caught, he dragged the chip into the open air using more care than ever before.
The borrower eventually made it out with his prize in hand and backed a good couple inches away from the crinkly bag. There, he began breaking the yellow chip into smaller pieces and stuffed them into his satchel. Grease coated his hands and clothes, but the satchel heavy with food was more than worth it.
Tucker uncoiled his string from around his shoulder as he jogged towards the edge of the table. He smiled to himself as he neared the edge. This was going to be his most efficient borrowing trip yet.
Until he heard a loud squeak of a door across the small home.
Frantic brown eyes shot towards the door to the bedroom as the woman quietly tiptoed out of the room. She quickly, but carefully, made her way to the kitchen, the occasional floorboard creaking under her weight.
Tucker wasted no time breaking into a mad dash towards the closest cover and all but dove into the bag of chips. The plastic crinkled loudly around him and he grimaced. He desperately hoped her mind was tired enough to drown out whatever noise he made. Tucker inched further into the bag with ragged breaths, curling into a small ball. His eyes watered and his throat stung from the greasy salt coating him and his surroundings.
The overhead light flicked on and the ground shook slightly from her footsteps. The sound of her rummaging through the fridge was drowned out by the blood roaring in Tucker's ears. His heart couldn't keep up with the panic coursing through his entire body. He was in the absolute worst hiding spot ever! All she had to do was peer inside and she'll spot him, then he would either end up dead or a pet. Tucker couldn't decide which fate was worse.
Just calm down. She hasn't found you yet. You've gotten out of tough situations before. He reminded himself. Tucker focused on his frantic breaths and managed to slow them down to a more manageable level. His watery eyes watched the bag's opening with trepidation. His fingers curled around the nail strapped to his satchel as he mentally prepared himself to use the weapon against the giant. Of course, he knew it wouldn't really do much against her but he'd rather go down swinging than begging.
He remained crouched and silently listened as she continued searching for something. The seconds seemed to tick by excruciatingly slow when she finally whispered "a-ha!" And something clunked onto the counter. It took a few minutes for her to finish whatever she was doing before turning back to tiptoe to her room.
Tucker let his head hang down in relief as he waited for the click of the bedroom door signaling she was gone. He needed to go back into the walls as soon as possible. It was a miracle he made it out of this situation unscathed and Tucker was in no hurry to test his luck. He heard a click in the distance and began creeping out of the bag.
"Huh? What are y-" The shock was clear in the human woman's voice.
Tucker froze, half of his body out of the bag. His muscles tensed and his heart slammed against his rib cage. His eyes frantically searched for the human that undoubtedly found him while he mentally prepared for death.
"What are you doing?" She demanded.
Her voice came from a different room and Tucker sighed in relief. He held a hand over his heart. At this rate he'll die from a heart attack rather than a human or rat. It was tempting to try and run to one of his many entrances in the walls, but he knew the risk was too high. As his parents explained to him time and time again; one wrong move could be the end of every single borrower. Tucker begrudgingly ducked back into the greasy, crinkly bag to wait out whatever was happening. Hopefully it will be quick.
"Go away!" The human yelled, her voice becoming louder and louder. Floorboards creaked as she hurriedly moved around the house.
"You know why I'm here." Said a new voice. It was a man's, but it was too deep to belong to the resident male.
Tucker's hand tightened on his weapon at the realization there was an unknown human in the house. His breaths became shorter and shorter as the ever-present fear seeped into his body. He backed further into the bag as the ground beneath him shook violently. The woman appeared in front of the table, her lower half being the only thing visible from Tucker's limited line of sight. Her hands were curled into fists and her chest heaved with panicked breaths.
"J, Don't do this!" She pleaded.
The shaking ground signaled the arrival of the stranger. "I love you," he stated quietly.
Shivers ran down Tucker's spine from the way the stranger said it. The words weren't filled with love and warmth and adoration, they were cold and desperate. And from the way the woman shook, she recognized the stranger's alarming behavior as well. Tucker found himself feeling bad for the resident human. Fear was an everyday thing for a borrower, it's what kept them alive, but she didn't deserve to feel the same way. The stranger was obviously dangerous and Tucker could only hope the resident male will wake up and help before it was too late.
She quickly raised her fist in preparation to punch him, but the stranger's hand closed around her wrist before she could do anything. Tucker winced as the hand squeezed harder and harder to the point where the woman's tan skin was turning white. She struggled against the grip but he never let up.
"Stev-" she began to desperately scream for her mate. The stranger swiftly grabbed her hair with his other hand and slammed her head onto the table. Then again. And again.
Tucker gasped and toppled over from the force. He heard a crunch, but he wasn't sure if it was the chips around him or the woman's head. A shadow covered the opening of the bag and he fearfully glanced up. Instead of a hand coming for him, he met the eyes of the woman whose head laid on the table not even a foot away from Tucker. Blood pooled around her and her cheeks were stained with tears as a gloved hand held her in place. Her hazel eyes were pleading as she weakly stared at the tiny man inside the bag.
The borrower didn't know what to do. He was just spotted by a human, an extremely powerful being compared to him. But she was hurt. Her large eyes were losing focus as more and more blood settled around her head. There was a strange temptation inside Tucker to help her. He had to stop the bleeding or get help or something! But that would be impossible. He was just a borrower living a life unnoticed.
All he could do was stare into her teary eyes and hope the sympathetic look on his face told her he was sorry.
Her lips parted, and if Tucker didn't have excellent hearing, he would have never heard her last words: "Josh," she said weakly as her eyes closed.
A door slammed in the distance followed by rapid footsteps. "Kirstie!" The resident human male shouted.
The stranger let go of her head and she collapsed to the ground with a heavy thud. As the man's frantic footsteps grew closer the stranger fled the scene, leaving just as quietly as he came in. The only sign of him ever being there was the bloody scene the husband walked in on.

Time passed slowly. Red and blue lights flashed through the window blinds as humans wearing identical uniforms searched the kitchen. There were loud clicks followed by bright white flashes that occasionally blinded him.
Tucker remained curled up in the bag of chips. He had managed to move a large chip in front of him for cover if anyone decided to check the bag. He also tugged the hood of his black poncho over his short afro to hopefully blend in better with the shadows. Tucker's muscles were tense and primed to run at any moments notice.
This was supposed to be a quick and easy borrowing trip, he groused to himself. His stomach rumbled and he held a hand over it as if it could muffle the noise. Even though he was surrounded by food, he hadn't eaten anything yet. With all the excitement and humans hustling around he couldn't risk making more noise than necessary. Tucker was used to being hungry anyways, a few more hours couldn't hurt.
A deep voice knocked Tucker out of his thoughts. The room growing quiet as the human spoke, "What do we got?" The man demanded, his voice was confident and authoritative.
He crouched in front of the table where the body presumably laid, putting him in Tucker's line of sight. Tucker noticed he wore different clothes and less gear than the others. His skin was pale and his black hair was cut short. And his eyes made Tucker forget how to breathe. They were icy blue, their intense stare seemed to pierce through everything they looked at.
A woman cleared her throat, "Her name is Kirstin Blum, 32 years old."
The scary man scanned the crime scene, his icy gaze briefly passing over Tucker's hiding place. The borrower curled into a smaller ball behind the chip. He could have sworn he felt a chill go up his spine as the eyes passed over him. It was getting harder and harder to breathe, the salt and grease covering him definitely wasn't doing him any favors.
"Alright," the man rumbled after a few moments. He rose back up to a stand, putting his face high above Tucker and out of sight. The small man's shoulders slumped slightly when those eyes disappeared. "We got any suspects?" He asked.
"Yes detective Lassiter, the husband. His name is Steven Blum, he was the one who called 911. He's in the backyard." The woman replied.
"Perfect," Lassiter murmured quietly to himself as he walked away. The woman followed behind him, leaving the borrower alone in the kitchen.
Tucker desperately wished no one else would come in. He was tired and scared and hungry and he just wanted to be back in his home in the walls. He could practically hear his comfortable nest calling his name and couldn't wait to curl up inside and sleep for days. Tucker rolled his shoulders and stretched out his legs. They were becoming stiff from staying in the same place for so damn long. He wondered if he'd be able to stand after this ordeal.
Tucker couldn't help a quiet groan when a new human voice cut through the empty room. He reluctantly curled up behind the chip again to wait out the newcomer.
"I could really use some coffee right about now." The voice of a man complained.
"I tried to pick some up! You told me to keep goin'." Another man retorted.
They both walked into Tucker's view, although he could only see two pairs of pants. He could immediately tell they weren't like everyone else who'd come by. They didn't wear any belts full of tools or hold any equipment. He curiously peered through a crack in the chip in front of him to watch the new humans.
The man wearing jeans crouched down, his green eyes carefully scanning the body. "We couldn't just stop, I need to see everything before the cops start moving things around." It was the voice of the first human. He ran a hand through the spike in his short brown hair, "Hey Gus, check the cabinets for coffee pods or something." He whispered up to his friend.
The second human -Gus- hit the man in the shoulder,"There's a dead person here Shawn!" He snapped back.
"I think she'll want me to be awake if I'm gonna solve her murder." Shawn retorted without missing a beat.
Gus stepped away from the body and leaned on the counter further back. He crossed his arms as he looked around the kitchen for clues, but not as intently as Shawn. The man had dark skin that contrasted with his bright blue button up. He seemed slightly shorter than the other human, but that didn't make a difference to Tucker.
"You're just trying to get this girl's ghost to haunt me," he accused. "If you wanna steal coffee from a dead person then be my guest."
Shawn simply huffed and shook his head in resignation. He stopped looking at the body and began examining the pool of blood nearby on the table much to Tucker's dismay. Hopefully the bag of chips he was hiding in didn't spark any interest. Tucker watched with bated breath as the green eyes squinted at all the little details, then finally widening.
He gestured wildly with his hand, "Dude! Get over here!" Shawn exclaimed excitedly.
Gus hurried over and Shawn pointed to a spot on the table. Both humans leaned in, their faces right in front of Tucker's hiding place. All they had to do was look up and they could make the discovery of a lifetime. He hunkered down lower to remain out of sight. The borrower put his hand on his nail and squeezed his eyes shut as he listened to the loud breaths coming from the humans so close by.
Gus' brows furrowed. "What am I looking at?" He asked.
Shawn's large finger came into view as he pointed at more spots, "Right here and here and here. Don't these look like little-"
"What the hell are you two doing here?" A deep voice demanded. Tucker recognized it as the scary man's voice from earlier: Detective Lassiter.
Both humans stood straight up, giving Tucker the confidence to breathe again without alerting the giants.
"Hey Lassie," Shawn drawled with a smile in his voice. "We didn't know you were here too. What a coincidence." He said innocently.
Gus smiled beside him, "If we had known I would have picked you up something to eat." He added.
The ground shook as the scary man stepped into the kitchen. "This is my crime scene. I don't need two idiot consultants contaminating everything." He growled.
"Since when have we ever done such a thing?" Shawn sounded absolutely offended. If he was scared of the icy blue eyes piercing through him, he definitely didn't show it. He then leaned over to peer behind the taller detective, "Is Juliet here?" He asked eagerly.
"Out." Lassiter stated with no room to argue. He grabbed Shawn's arm and tugged at the flannel shirt he was wearing to usher him out the room.
Shawn loudly complained and resisted being dragged away. "But you need our help!" He protested as he dug his feet into the floor.
"No I don't. We already caught the killer."
Tucker perked up at that. The bag crinkled softly around him and he winced. Luckily no one seemed to notice over the commotion Shawn was causing. He knew this meant the humans will leave and Tucker will soon be the only one in the house.
"Really? Who was it?" Gus asked from the side as he casually watched Lassiter and Shawn struggle. It was clear he also wanted to leave, probably because of the corpse still in the room.
Lassiter finally gave up and let Shawn free his wrist from his grip. He pointedly straightened his black suit jacket before answering, "Steven, the husband. I'm going to take him back to the station and get a confession."
The borrower balked at that conclusion. How in the world did they think the husband did it? Wasn't it their whole job to find the right person? Humans were dumber than he initially thought.
Something in the back of his mind urged him to come out and tell them the truth. How else are they supposed to figure it out if their best hope is in cuffs. But it was a human issue that had nothing to do with him. It's not Tucker's fault humans are destructive beings that hurt everyone and everything they come across. With that in mind, the last thing he was about to do was reveal the existence of borrowers to the world just to get justice for one human.
Shawn briefly seemed to consider what the detective said before his hands suddenly shot up to the sides of his head. He rested his pointer fingers against his temple and closed his eyes. "I'm having a vision!" He declared.
Lassiter started shaking his head and resumed his efforts to drag Shawn out of the room. "No! No psychic bullshit in my crime scene!" He protested angrily.
The man promptly ignored the detective. His left hand hovering over the victim lying on the ground. Tucker leaned slightly forwards and watched in complete bewilderment as the man waved his hand in circular motions in the air.
"I sense..... ow!" He suddenly held his left hand to the side of his head, stumbling out of the detective’s grip. "I sense the killer hit her head against the table over and over again, until she was dead." Shawn slowly walked closer to the table, his eyes scanning the surface once more. Once he seemed to find what he was looking for, he closed his eyes again with his hand still on his temple. "I'm getting something else.... Steven is not the killer." Shawn concluded confidently, opening his eyes.
Tucker was left speechless. How did the human do that? He just waved his hand around and knew the correct answer. A pit of worry grew inside of him. What if the strange human found him by doing the same thing. Tucker swallowed nervously and resisted the urge to make more noise by adding more chips in front of him for cover.
Gus glanced at Shawn with a quirked brow. At this point he knew better than to question his friend, but it's always the husband in the shows. He was definitely looking forward to hearing what Shawn found. It had to be something good.
However, the detective was less than pleased with that theory. "Really?" Lassiter's lips formed a tight smile. "Do you have any evidence someone else was in the house? 'Cause I can tell you right now there was no forced entry and nothing was stolen."
Shawn didn't flinch under the man's menacing tone, instead he gave him a cocky grin. "Not right now, but I will prove it wasn't Steven. The spirits never lie." He turned towards his friend still standing near the counter. "Right Gus!" He said and gave Gus a hard pat on the back.
Gus, who was completely unprepared for the force of the action, stumbled forward and ran right into the detective. While Lassiter was busying keeping both him and Gus from falling to the floor, Shawn snatched the bag of chips off the table. He hid it behind his back as he strode out the door before Lassiter can give him a piece of his mind.
Gus hurriedly apologized and ran after him, barely avoiding the string of curses coming from the detective's mouth.
