The olive tree has deep historical and cultural roots in Palestine, and its branches have been associated with peace and prosperity for centuries.
The hardy trees can handle drought, subzero temperatures, frost and even fire. They are symbolic of Palestinian resilience against Israeli occupation and their connection to the land.
Olive cultivation plays a crucial role in the Palestinian economy through olive oil, table olives and soap production.
About 80,000 to 100,000 Palestinian families rely on the olive harvest for their income, which takes place every year between October and November. Many Palestinians still hold onto the keys to their original homes as a symbol of their hope and determination to return one day. These keys have been passed down several generations and are kept as a symbol of Palestinians’ right to return – a principle enshrined in international law that grants individuals the right go back to their homes of origin.

Btw to the people going 'Well Hamas is bad and Palestinians voted Hamas in therefore Palestinians deserve to get killed'
That happened in 2006. 17 years ago. Any Palestinian who is 34 and under COULD NOT HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THAT ELECTION, and this is INCLUDING the children currently being slaughtered
Along with that Hamas isnt every person in Gaza, thats like saying every American is Donald Trump and supports his actions because they voted him in. Its so obviously wrong when you apply it to literally anything that isnt Palestine
Shut the fuck up and stop supporting actual literal genocide, from river to sea, Palestine will be free
Edit: To the people saying 'Even if everyone supported Hamas that doesnt justify genocide' I absolutely 100% agree. Nothing justifies genocide, however this post is directed at people who try to "excuse" Israels actions by saying 'Well Hamas would do the same thing if they could and Palestinians voted them in so obviously theyre also bad so dont try to support Gaza because theyre just as bad as Israel'
Absolutely nothing justifies genocide, but the people who trying to need to be told they are wrong

look. i’m sick and fucking tired of seeing such horrible and inhumane responses to the global strike for palestine happening this week. it’s not just some “tumblr phenomenon”. nobody is forcing you to take off work. nobody is forcing you to take off school. use your brains and figure out that the strike is for justice in palestine. the point is to DO WHAT YOU CAN. even if that just means reblogging posts, telling a friend who might be able to do more, participate in the boycotts, make informative posts yourselves. i know that is all do-able to the majority of you. have a heart. this is not supposed to be comfortable. this is not supposed to be nice. innocent lives in Gaza are being killed by the second and the strike is to keep up the pressure for a ceasefire. ![[ID: Handala is a cartoon character created by Palestinian cartoonist Naji al-Ali that reflects his own childhood refugee experience and the ongoing plight of Palestinians displaced by the Nakba.
The first version of the cartoon appeared in a Kuwaiti newspaper in 1969 and was drawn facing the viewer. However, in 1973 following the October War, al-Ali started drawing Handala with his back turned to reflect how the world had itself turned its back on the Palestinians.
Handala is barefoot and wears ragged clothes like the refugee camp children al-Ali remembers when he was forced to leave his village as a 10-year-old boy.
Handala is named after the “handhal”, a bitter fruit that grows in the dry areas of Palestine. It grows back when cut and has deep roots.
In 1987, Naji al-Ali was assassinated in London. No one has been charged with his murder. END ID]](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1bd0a008be03cff84baa078bbf303806/68d6ff8b90c60403-0b/s640x960/a23206804bf5eabf3db32ad401db82528206c94e.jpg)

Following the 1967 war, when Israel seized control of the West Bank and Gaza Strip and annexed East Jerusalem, the government banned the Palestinian flag in the occupied territory.
Although the flag has not always been banned by law, the watermelon caught on as a symbol of resistance. It appears in art, shirts, graffiti, posters and the ubiquitous watermelon emoji on social media. look. i’m sick and fucking tired of seeing such horrible and inhumane responses to the global strike for palestine happening this week. it’s not just some “tumblr phenomenon”. nobody is forcing you to take off work. nobody is forcing you to take off school. use your brains and figure out that the strike is for justice in palestine. the point is to DO WHAT YOU CAN. even if that just means reblogging posts, telling a friend who might be able to do more, participate in the boycotts, make informative posts yourselves. i know that is all do-able to the majority of you. have a heart. this is not supposed to be comfortable. this is not supposed to be nice. innocent lives in Gaza are being killed by the second and the strike is to keep up the pressure for a ceasefire. FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA. 🇵🇸
REMINDER: It is Global Strike Week for Palestine

!!!!!!!!

This account is joining the Global Strike Week in support of Palestine, from the 21st to the 28th.
No new content will be posted throughout the week, only reblogs that support the cause & uplift palestinian voices.
I usually avoid liking & reblogging things outside of the theme of this blog, but this is too important to ignore.
No Business as Usual.
Please do whatever you can to participate, spread awareness & support Palestine in this time of need. I’ll do my part as well.
Keep them in your thoughts.

Because my last post about this didn't get much traction, I'll say it in a text post.
There is an upcoming global strike for Palestine. February 18th to the 24th. Talk about Palestine and other injustices, call your representatives and email them, boycott companies and limit spending during the week. Get your grocery shopping in now and only buy essentials during the week, please. Limit interaction on posts other than injustices around the world. If you can, skip work or school, though this is a privilege not everyone has.
