Laverne Cox and her friend were victims of a transphobic attack three days ago — and not enough people are talking about it and what it means, say transgender-rights advocates.
Cox, best known for playing Sophia Burset in Netflix’s Orange is the New Black, revealed on Instagram that she was targeted while walking in Los Angeles. The Emmy-nominated actress gave a sobering account of the ordeal and the underlying message: “It doesn’t matter who you are… if you’re trans, you’re going to experience stuff like this.”
Trans women of colour are especially vulnerable to hate crimes such of these, with the vast majority of the record-high numbers of trans people murdered for being trans or GNC in the US alone being trans women of colour.
Welcome to the United States of America where if you want to be safe from guns you die if you want to get a safe abortion you die if you're gay you die if you're black you die if you're a woman you die if you're disabled you die if you're a kid you die if you're a POC you die if you're trans you die and no one will do anything about it because some stupid cuntrags that are two steps away from tripping on a staircase and dying cling to some dipshit beliefs from over 6 decades ago and decide to make it everyone's problem

Stop AAPI Hate has tracked over 2000 anti-Asian incidents with over 800 of them being in California. So there’s a crap ton more than the ones posted here.

This isn’t OK
There hasn’t been nearly enough awareness on this, but there has been a huge spike in hate crimes against the Asian community during the pandemic, and that’s seriously messed up. Never under any circumstance is it alright to hate someone for their race, and Asians are NOT responsible for the pandemic.
Even if one of the conspiracy theories somehow came out to be true and the pandemic was somehow purposefully engineered, that would be the fault of those few select persons- definitely not their entire race. We’re all suffering through this pandemic TOGETHER, and we need to support one another, NOT go around looking for someone to point a finger at. It’s horrific that anyone could reason that these kinds of acts are in any way justifiable, and it’s not okay that this has been going on.

Pixar has also released two of their short films on YouTube to show support, and I’d definitely recommend checking them out if you haven’t seen them(maybe bring a few tissues, though)! If anyone’s curious, their titles are “Float” and “Wind”.
I may not be Jewish, but the wave of bomb threats is concerning. No one should have to fear for their lives because of their background. Jews, Racial Minorities, LGBTQ+, etc. EVERYONE deserves to be treated like human beings, because we are just that, Human. We deserve to have our voices heard and to be able to come home at night alive and at peace. FEAR should have no place in our society! HATE should have no place in our society! LOVE and RESPECT should come to us as naturally as breathing!

Because I'm only seeing other Jews posting about this, non-Jews I need you to be aware that for the past month or two there has been a wave of bomb threats and swattings at synagogues all across the US. They usually do it when services are being livestreamed. I haven't seen a single non-Jew talking about this. High holidays are coming up in a few weeks, which is when most attacks happen against our communities. We're worried, and we need people to know what's happening to us.
