TCF Prompt 20

TBOAH AU - Regressions

Although Choi Han was able to gravely injure the White Star, he escaped the great battle that took the life of Cale Henituse. All those that remain are left in despair. Because even though Cale was known for being 'trash' throughout his life, his true attitude and voice in the end helped them in moving forward and being able to keep going during this horrible war(whether he realized it or not).

In the end, its not Cale who regresses, but his old comrades. Not only hoping to change the outlook of the war with the White Star, but perhaps saving an old dear friend, not only from a certain villain, but from himself as well.

Meanwhile, an 18 year old Cale Henituse is quite confused as to why this man from Harris Village is so set on being his guard. More importantly...why the fuck did Ron hug him this morning? And Hans is sticking to him like glue? Not seeming afraid of him at all(and was he glaring at the staff calling him trash?). Not to mention that damn crown prince inviting him personally to the capital instead of his brother! ugh. So many plans going drown the drain...but at least these kittens(kids) from the slums are cute. Hmm...maybe its not so bad...

Choi Han, The Molans, Rosalyn, Lock, Alberu, On, Amiru, Gilbert, Eric and Hans are the ones who regress.

OG!Cale doesn't fully regress, but he does end up having snippets of certain events(nightmares that give him headaches, etc)

OG!Cale does get all the ancient powers, including his mothers

GoD does bring KRS partly as an ancient power given to Cale(as Record, etc), and then sent off to help LSH and CJS with GoD things.

They all eventually end up meeting up to help each other, but that's a long ways yet.

On grabs Hong and goes to Cale asap cause she knows he will take them in.

Raon is saved and taken in of course. He doesn't fully remember, but like Cale he has nightmares of what could have been. Something they bond over.

Everyone is super protective and Cale is just: ????

Henituse family is confused as well, but Deruth allows it cause they make his son happy(and then they find out Cale was being trash on purpose and are not pleased. Apologies and much needed talks on both sides are given).

It takes a while(he's been acting for 10 years without a moments rest after all) but Cale allows himself to be well...himself again.

While not KRS, Cale is still an oblivious, sacrificial, unlucky bastard(thank you Eruhaben).

War ends in 2 years instead of 20. Much to the joy of everyone(Cale is kinda happy, but not, he did NOT want to be a Commander dammit! stupid hyu-...crown prince!)

Redika is killed at the plaza after trying to go after Cale

Clopeh is also killed at Henituse territory

Some events are the same as TCF, but OG!crew aren't KRS and bulldoze their way through events rather than scheme/scam lmao. It gets worse after Cale gets hurt, coughs up blood, etc.

The idea that all OG! Cale needed was a single responsible adult whom he respected to sit him down and set him straight to prevent his self-destruction is so tragically frustratingly funny to me.

Like, it could have been Deruth, Violan or even Ron and he would have stopped.

I imagine that in a modern AU, when Cale's behavior first started, Deruth made the decision to go to therapy with his whole family to sort out their issues. Because Deruth loves his son and I do think that if therapy was a thing in Roan, then he would have definitely taken Cale.

Anyway, Therapist tells Deruth to get his shit together and sit with his son to have a heartfelt conversation because his eldest is more than the remnants of his late wife. They do that and badabing bada boom, issues are sorted and Cale isn't ruining his life and making himself miserable, and the family is close.

OG! TBOAH meet this Modern AU Henituse family and they are SHOCKED at how different the two Cales are, including Cale himself.

Then the reason is revealed and oooh boy, are there a lot of revelations.

"WAIT IT WAS ALL AN ACT?"

"All I had to do was tell him to stop????"

Lily's Orabeoni was a good person.

It doesn't matter how many people call him bad names, he is a good person.

Besides, what do they know? They don't know how he held her when she was small, they don't know how he would comfort and read to her whenever she couldn't sleep, how he would leave her little gifts whenever she was feeling sad. They don't know anything.

Her eldest brother was a good person.

Basen didn't believe her when she told him how kind big brother was.

When she overhears some kids bad-mouthing her brother at mother's party, her blood boils. She runs and tackles the moron.

"Shut Up! You don't know what you're talking about!"

"Ack- Get off of me!"

The boy throws a punch and it hits but it's okay because she hits back. They get into a fistfight and her mom grounds her but it's okay because Cale is there and he understands.

('She's there under her covers, frustrated tears blurring her vision. They don't understand. That kid was talking bad about her big brother! She hears her door open and close, there's a dip at the end of her bed and Cale asks what happened. She tells him everything, because if anyone would understand, it would be Cale.

He tells her that she shouldn't have done that and that it doesn't matter if they talk bad about him but it does matter. It matters to her. And he comforts her like she knew he would and it feels like everything is going to be okay')

She is going to be a knight. Her Orabeoni has shown her how to protect with words, now she will learn with a sword.

Lily dyes her hair. Just a single streak of red to match her brother.

When she shows her older brother, she tells him with a smile 'Look, look! Now we match! ' When he gives her a hug, she pretends not to notice the slowly growing wet spot on her shoulders.

Basen... is jealous.

He's denied it for a long time but watching his big brother teach his little sister how to make flower crowns while she watches with her eyes shining in excitement- he is jealous.

Cale is his brother (does Cale think that?)

Cale his his big brother but he's never- he's always been distant. Like Lily, Basen is sure that Cale is a good person. He knows how Cale sacrificed his reputation for him and his mother, he had a front row seat. How could he not know? When the adults confronted him, Cale pretend that he threw the vase just to be mean-

Is it childish that he also wants to feel the warmth of his big brother that Lily talks so much about?

Basen, on impulse, takes some basic problems that he'd already solved from his tutor and knocks on Cale's door.

By the time the door opens he's about ready to walk away-

"What do you want?"

Cale doesn't say it like he's upset, just tired. Basen tries and fails to suppress a flinch.

"C-can you help me with some problems I'm having trouble with?"

There's a short pause. His palms are sweaty.

"Sure." 'huh-?' "Get in."

Cale opens the door wider while Basen stays still like an idiot.

Cale moves to sitting on his couch, waiting.

"Well?"

"R-right!"

Basen is nervous and excited at the same time. Is it really that easy?

Cale spends a while explaining each question, doesn't once mock him, and right now? He oddly feels- Happy.

When they're done and move to get up, Cale ruffles his hair affectionately and they both freeze.

"Oh- Sorr-"

"No no! It's fine-"

They both leave the room in opposite directions (it was a bit awkward) and Basen has never felt lighter.

He heads towards Lily's room and reluctantly admits that "yes, his headpats do feel nice- you win"

After this, Basen also understands the anger lily feels whenever he hears servants talk badly about his brother. And he has a scary realization that Cale hears this all of the time.

[The next time Cale and Lily go to the gardens to play with the flowers, they invite Basen and there he learns that people really don't know anything about Cale. Even their parents.

Basen can see the soft smiles directed at him and Lily, the patience he has when they make a small mistake, and there he feels happy]

Deruth is confused.

Lily has taken up a rebellious streak, seemingly starting fights with other children for no reason. The first time this happened, He asked lily why she hit the kid first and when Lily spoke, she teared up a bit and spoke, anger still present in her voice.

"He was saying stupid things."

Violian was shocked and so was Deruth.

They grounded Lily for the first time and both had a talk after. Deruth didn't want to admit it, but the possibility of Cale influencing her was high. Lily was still very young.

When Deruth asked Basen about this, he looked at Deruth in disbelief.

"..Are you sure?"

"I'm not saying anything is certain, just a possibility. Lily is still young."

"I... suppose so.."

(Later Basen would come into his office and take back those words.)

Deruth had just finished the paperwork for the day and went on a walk in a garden. There he found two of his children making flower crowns on a blanket and the oldest guiding them. They obviously hadn't seen him yet and Deruth paused for a moment. Cale was... smiling. That smile that he got so many compliments on, that everyone said could light up a room.

'when was the last time I've seen that smile...?'

Deruth felt his heart lighten and decided to walk up to them.

"I see you all are having fun."

"Father!"

"Hello"

Cale stopped smiling and looked tense.

"...Hello father."

Lily, noticing the awkwardness, quickly said something.

"Cale's teaching us how to make flower crowns!"

After a bit of small talk between the three (Cale staying silent), His oldest got up and placed two identical, well made flower crowns on Lily and Basen's heads.

"I just remembered I have a bit of work to do, you guys have fun"

And with a couple of headpats, Cale began to speed walk away.

"Ah- And there he goes.." Lily was pouting.

"... I think you should have told him to stay." Basen also seemed upset.

Deruth just looked helplessly towards the direction Cale walked off to. An unfinished flower crown left where he was sitting.

(The next day before breakfast, Basen handed him the flower crown from before and told him to give it to Cale during breakfast.

Contrary to Deruth's belief, Cale did show up

Near the end of breakfast, Deruth got up at the same time as Cale and nervously walked towards him. The table was silent, seemingly waiting.

Deruth held out the flower crown.

"You forgot this yesterday"

A pause, Deruth got even more nervous.

Cale hesitantly took the crown.

"..Thank you."

When Cale left, Deruth let out a shakey exhale. Lily was excited.

"Did you see his ears!?! He was happy!"

Later on, Deruth would get a report from Hans stating the usual but with a comment from Hans that would also make Deruth happy.

"The Young Master was seen wearing a flower crown all day! It was very odd.")

A Field of Spider Lilies - TCF

So uh- Does anyone remember for like Nov last year where I mentioned a Twin AU for Trash of the Count's Family? Yeah, I was thinking about it again because it got buried in my notes and I recently uncovered it.

It took me FOREVER to think of a name for this AU but I wanted to give it one because I actually really do want to write this and would love to talk about it while I do so :D

Under the cut is gonna be just some info about the au as it stands and MAAAYYYBBBEEEEE a mini clip of what I had written/a plan I have for it.

First and foremost, bada dum! The title "Field of Spider Lilies" has been decided! It literally took me so many things to get to this lol- I was tempted to do "It Takes Two to Terrorize" as a play on "It Takes Two to Tango" but felt this was a bit better in general. I know many people will instantly think of red spider lilies, which is what I want!!! They are a dangerous and ill-thought flower, however, their meaning isn't always so dark.

Using this, since it is closest to my own interpretations of spider liles and their colors, I think each of them fits the twins. There is no specific color I will EVER assign to the lilies of the title, so you can imagine as you will with each part what coloring best fits the story at the time. If they're scamming they could be yellow. Injured? Red. Surrounded by those they love? White. Within a battle or something? Orange. It's all about the perception of the reader for the color, so you may all have fun with this :D

Also, Death would absolutely love if his children were represented by a flower that represented him so you know I'm going to fully use this to my advantage. No one will stop me and my bundle of flower meanings I've been holding onto since I learned they were a thing as a young child-

Kim Rok Soo has been named as well! He has now been dubbed our good boy Arlen! I always find the fact that Cale's name means dog as well as wholehearted fits both Og!Cale and KRS!Cale very well, so I wanted to find a name that also fit Twin!KRS as well. Then I found Arlen. Which means "hare land" (in a direct sense) but also if spelled with an "i" instead of an "e" it means "pledge/oath" which is also very fitting for our boy.

Also. Hare and the Hound. I couldn't not take the opportunity to have the twins be a reference to something. Let alone the fact that it's a story whose moral is essentially; "life is the most precious thing". I COULDN'T NOT DO IT ALRIGHT-

So their names are both a reference to a child's story that fits them as well as a name that fits our good boy KRS in general.

NOW ONTO SOME OF THE ACTUAL INFO ABOUT THE FIC TO BE!(I will be referring to KRS as Arlen, however, fear not, his middle name is Roksu, in reference to the more official translation, and he will be referred to by that as well since he's embarrassed that his name basically means bunny lol.)

Arlen and Cale are telepathic. Not because of the typical 'time to have creepy telepathic twin time' because let's be real these two can and will learn how to communicate with nothing but staring at one another even if they weren't. They are telepathic though because the GoD felt a little bit bad about making them children again and wanted to give them a way to communicate early on. At least he only turned them into toddlers!

Jour, since her ancient power lets her see time, knows very well that something happened. She doesn't know what it is because even her power has its limits, but she knows she was only meant to have one child, but loves both her boys equally. The day they 'awaken' into their new bodies, she is also very aware that their time has yet again changed. She's worried, but still never tells anyone her plan.

Cale is an emotional mess but hides it. Arlen is an emotional mess but ignores it. Ron is about at his wit's end at this point between the two of them. And he's an assassin. He should have more patience than this-

They also cannot completely suppress their child-like instincts, which is both funny as if one cries the other probably will as well, but also horrible for when they're a bit older because oh y'know...trauma response from Arlen when he was Kim Rok Soo.

Cale is ever so slightly older and has decided despite their plan to stick close to the early plot up until Choi Han since nothing big happens before then(that they are aware of because Cale barely remembers half of what happened after his family died, he was kind of too numb to), that he is going to not let anyone hurt Arlen. Cause y'know. Telepathy. And Record. In a child's body.

I am very much not letting anyone forget Rok Soo grew up with that curse and if he ever had to be a younger child closer to the time he was around his uncle he probably wouldn't be able to help his instincts. Since even in canon he notes how trauma for a child is so scary for that very reason- Okay y'all get it I'll stop u-u

Anyway, Cale has seen some of the 'nightmares' his brother has and is wondering if after they ensure they can live peacefully even with the war that happens (Cale doesn't know they would have lost the war- he was too distracted and numb to truly care for much else than fighting those who wronged him!) if there is a way to get some petty revenge against those from another world.

In regards to Ancient Powers, I do have a plan, but if I share this, it t will be some major spoilers soooo maybe you'll have to wait for now >:3c

Finally, in this long tirade I've been on- I have a little snippet from when the first day they awoke!

I do have plans to do a bit of stuff pre-TCF plot with the twins since it will help build the dynamic I want as well as just give some fun interactions I believe we all deserve. Of course, there will be some serious, some fun, and some embarrassing childhood memories to be shown that Cale would will definitely get chased over if he told them.

Father, understandably, freaked out and the entire guard turned the city and the surrounding area upside down searching for you, he even used his connections and asked the other nobles if they'd seen you and only got more anxious when he recieved negative responses. Basen, Lily and I weren't allowed out of the estate, not even into the gardens and everyone was panicking. Then, you show up a week later, with gifts and souvenirs like you were on vacation in a foreign country and somehow you're a swordmaster and have an ancient power even though when you left, your strength was only a bit superior to my own! Noona, what the fuck happened and where were you?!

Callie: ...Oops..?

Roksoo: *internally screaming*

And thus, Roan is introduced to FIREARMS!

Modern Cale being TBOAH Cale’s sort-of kinda therapist is so funny.

Also, Bud is so right. I sometimes can’t help but to wonder if Cale was really such an outstanding actor or if other people noticed and just didn’t do anything.

As much as I love romance, I would really like more fics of OG Cale with his family. Most of his stories are found family and you rarely get to see the Henituse often because they're not that significant in the grand scheme of things. I want more stories of the angst and love in this dysfunctional family and I would also like to see more fics about the complicated dynamic that OG Cale has with Ron.

Very few stories have actually gone into depth exploring the nuances of Cale and Ron's relationship. Because Ron did care for OG Cale, he has fondness for him that was present in the line: "But that trash wasn't bad either."

I think it's part of the reason that I like RokCale so much. I love the silly misunderstandings that TCF is so iconic for and I love outside reactions to a character and their actions, many RokCale stories, especially if it's a transmigrator/regressor romance, show other characters reactions to RokCale and with Ron, you often get to see him be protective and lose his cool a bit.

I miss og!Cale :(

That is true, I think part of the reason why the Henituse family is so sidelined is because while KRS!Cale cares for them and loves them, he doesn't have the same attachment to them as OG Cale did and there's no baggage complicating everything.

It's why KRS!Cale has a good relationship with them, he first off isn't putting on an elaborate lout act and he doesn't have any expectations of them (besides giving him money, lol).

I don't even want to get into Ron right now, that would take too many words that I can't articulate at the moment.

I don't write for the most part because I can never maintain my motivation but I understand how frustrating it must be to untangle all this mess and then carefully tie into a coherent story.

I miss og!Cale :(
