tell me why the FIRST thing i saw when i opened this app was entrapdak fanart, bro am i being converted or somethin 😐
One of my favourite things about shera is that the show always makes me empathetic and genuinely like some of the main villains. take hordak, he’s committed war crimes but I still feel bad for him. all the villains (except hord prime) have compelling backstorys, their still villains, still people who’ve done terrible things. yet their complex and are really quite sad. shera has an amazing ability to show that almost no one is ‘born evil’ events have to happen to push that person into a desperate enough position to be like this. They exactly never say that they should be forgiven for their actions simply why their doing them. while many of those villains got somewhat redemption arcs but I thought it was done in an amazing way.
Specifically characters like catra, shadowweaver and Hordak. I could rant about thier redemption arcs for a long while but I would like to do that separately, so I’m gonna leave this off here. Hordak is genuinely one of my favourite characters so he’ll probably go first as i may be a little biased. Hope you enjoy!

Did no one notice the hordak and catra parallels?? His story is that he was a "failure" and he's doing all this to prove his brother wrong. Catra is constantly called a failure and she is doing all of this to win for once and, well, prove everyone wrong.
Catra is becoming the new hordak.

This is my second attempt at a blog, my first was @sweet-shining-arceus and if anyone here knows about it, you’ll know how it ended.
Moving on now, I realized I’m going to post about whatever I’m currently into at the moment, rather than make the whole blog about one specific character.
That being said, here’s my list of past favorite characters in order from most recent to oldest:
- Hunchback of Notre Dame (Frollo specifically)

- The Outsiders (Two-Bit and Dally specifically)
- The Dark Knight (Heath Ledger’s Joker specifically)

- Hollow Knight (Pale King specifically)
- The Dragon Prince (Aaravos specifically)
- Avatar the Last Airbender (Zuko and Ozai specifically)
- Netflix She-Ra (Hordak and Horde Prime specifically)
- Star Wars (*cough* Darth Vader *cough*)
Those are the main ones anyway. (Keep in mind that some of these are really old. For example Star Wars was from 4th grade) I might come back to them, talk about them, etc., but for the most part they won’t be brought up very often.

Can we talk about how when Swiftwind was lunging at Hordak, Entrapta actually stepped closer to Hordak, sort of in between him and Swiftwind to sepeate the two and probably protect Hordak? :(
I just want to say that I’m pretty sure this is the first hug in Hordak’s life. He’s probably never been hugged before.
I’ve seen people saying it’s “just a hug”, but I think this hug is actually a huge step. Hordak isn’t used to being touched or to any positive attention from others. The fact that Entrapta hugs him and he just lets her without a single flinch is a lot.
I was thinking about how sweet the concept is of Hordak learning to enjoy holding hands.
Like.
Initially, Entrapta holds his hand. And he's a bit embarrassed by it, because, y'know, emotions. But he allows it because he'll allow Entrapta to do pretty much anything. Especially when it makes her happy.
As time goes on, though, he finds that he really loves it. He loves feeling her comparatively tiny hand in his own huge one. He loves how her fingers run over his knuckles. He loves the warmth. He loves the occasional affectionate squeezes. He loves physically feeling that she's there.
So eventually, he becomes the one to initiate. Especially when they're in bed. Or snuggled up, reading this-that-or-the-other thing. He'll just reach out and lace his fingers through hers. Because it makes her happy, and it makes him happy, too.
I just love the huge amount of respect Hordak has for Entrapta. Not just because it is cute and because it is interesting to see someone who tries so hard to just be the evil overlord be this genuinely good with someone.
Also because it is just so rare that people actually respect Entrapta, not even to mention vouch for her.
What is also interesting that it is the progression of this. At the beginning Hordak is still grumpy and dismissive - never actually abusive, but he just did not expect anyone be able to help him - while at the end he literally fights his way out of two times brainwashing to kill his own god to defend Entrapta.
(This is why “Hordak never became a better person” is wrong. Hordaks arc is not a redemption arc so this is not the focus, his arc is about learning that he can be his own person, and all his evils come from not doing that, but even like that he clearly becomes friendlier and more respectful to everybody who treats him with respect and kindness in turn, which is sadly just Entrapta).
Entrapdak Is Wholesome AF!
Hordak is always respectful towards Entrapta. He takes her seriously as a fellow adult and addresses her accordingly. He patiently listens to her when she tells him things about herself that he can relate to. Despite his low self-esteem, he doesn’t sink to any sort of macho posturing when she is assertive. He never seems annoyed by her unfiltered enthusiasm. On the contrary, he appears to find it endearing, and to enjoy discussing science with her.
The only time we see him lash out at her is when he is clearly agonizing over the prospect of losing her. It’s like he wants to rip off the band-aid, as it were, just focusing on the task at hand. You can see from Entrapta’s sad expression that she understands this. She clearly knows how deep his issues run, that there’s nothing she can do to discourage him. So, despite how much this must hurt her, she supports him in his endeavour anyway because it is important to him. She nudges him but never pressures him to delay it. She does all of this of her own volition because she cares about him and believes in him reaching his goal, just as he believes in her potential to help him solve this as his lab partner.
They enjoy each other’s company and see each other as equals and friends. Could a foundation for a romantic relationship possibly get more sturdy? I think not 💜
