STILL ON PATROL
I learned something new and horrifying today which is… that… no submarine is ever considered “lost” … there is apparently a tradition in the U.S. Navy that no submarine is ever lost. Those that go to sea and do not return are considered to be “still on patrol.”

There is a monument about this along a canal near here its… the worst thing I have ever seen. it says “STILL ON PATROL” in huge letters and then goes on to specify exactly how many WWII submarine ghosts are STILL OUT THERE, ON PATROL (it is almost 2000 WWII submarine ghosts, ftr). Here is the text from it:
“U.S. Navy Submarines paid heavily for their success in WWII. A total of 374 officers and 3131 men are still on board these 52 U.S. submarines still on patrol.”

I feel that I am starting to become the "real" self in these few days since I am doing something I should be in love since I was a kid such as watching a bunch of YouTube videos I am interested on TV, reading science-related articles and playing my piano again 11 years after getting the 8th grade certificate when I was 13. I seldom played piano after getting the certificate as I was busy at my schoolwork and concentrated on something that I wasn't really interested in (and it wasted me lots of time). I would like to play the piano more frequently and do more exercise in the coming days when I am at home.
One more thing is that I am now enjoying various classical music, classic pop hits and also older kpop songs (e.g. 2nd generation ones) to relax myself 🎶 I did listen to classical ones when I was viewing my astronomy notes yesterday 😉 Originally I had chosen other electives to fulfill my requirements for graduation but at least I would like to complete a course I am really interested in so I added astronomy to my list later 😊

Also, today is my parents’ anniversary! They’ve been married for thirty-eight years, and together for forty.
I don’t want to preach, but if you are ever afraid because you are asexual. If you have a relationship that isn’t based on romantic love. Mom is asexual. She also said no to my dad’s proposals three times because she wasn’t in love with him, and she was and still is repulsed by sex.
When Dad asked the fourth time, my mom broke down in tears. Because she didn’t want to break his heart, because she still cared about him so damn much even if what she felt wasn’t romantic love. Because the only reason she would have sex with him or anyone was because she wanted to have her own children. And you know what?
Dad still wanted to be with her, from the time he was eighteen until they both were ready for the grave. Because he didn’t want to ever be without his best friend in the whole damn world. Mom meant that much to him.
I can count on one hand how many times my parents have ever kissed in front of me, and every time was on the cheek. But their hugs are the most heartfelt you’ll ever see. When they laugh together, you know there’s a deep love between them. They truly are each other’s best friends.
So congrats, Mom and Dad! For always being there for each other, for me and my brother, and for my husband and our friends. You are both amazing, wonderful people, and I am so glad that you found one another.
