Jem probably thought it would be funny to get them matching jumpers, just to see the looks their faces. However, when Simon and Kieren start wear them nearly everywhere, she starts to regret her decision. It’s unbelievably cliché, but something about it makes the two of them grin when they catch each other’s eye as they’re walking down the street holding hands. It doesn’t matter when they go to the city together for New Year that people give them strange glances - they fully embrace the ridiculousness of Jem’s gift, and couldn’t care less what anyone else thinks. Of course, Kieren sends Jem pictures regularly, just to embarrass her with the fact that her brother is actually seen in public wearing the dumb jumper.
