I made a post before where I briefly talked about how all the grown ups in yuji’s life might have accidentally cursed him with their last words (wasuke, nanami, higuruma) because they gave him some type of burden he didn’t ask for (helping others, not dying alone, continuing to fight/ complete what they didn’t finish etc.).
but choso’s last words are only words of blaming himself for not being enough, and also gratitude and love for yuji. he doesn’t ask yuji for anything, not to continue the fight, not to avenge him, not to be surrounded by a lot of people.
he just apologizes for leaving him alone again and thanks him for being his little brother. I think that’s what makes his death especially painful for me.

8. The most underrated character?

Obviously Megumi, because he beat severe depression with sheer gay audacity. Amazing. (that's a horrible summary but you get it).
But also Choso! I fear his the flaw he was unable to grow past was the compulsive need to sacrifice himself for Yuuji, to feel that he was worth living with. In his case I think the conditions that led to his existence rly weighed on his self-image, but this isn't the post for sad analysis this should be fun.
Damn I rly said the emos are underrated, huh.
I'm going to add Hanami bc they had their own domain expansion and we never got to see it. Idk if they were stronger than Dagon, but god, I'm still sad about.

I think its interesting that we get Choso's face in both panels. How betrayed vs. content he looks, finally able to sacrifice himself for his brother.
We know he feels guilty for allying with the curses at first, and for killing Yuuji, but I think his poor self-image runs so much deeper than that bc of Kenjaku and the way he was conceived.
