Someone tried convincing me that Yuji can talk no jutsu Sukuna in his domain for jujutsu kaisen to have a "happy" ending.

I wish bro, I wish.

But then you have this panel...

yuuji's domain represents the nirvana

i made a little analysis about yuuji's domain in 265 and the way i think it represents the state of nirvana

1. the concept of nirvana

in buddhism, nirvana represents the ultimate stat of enlightenment, where one escapes from the cycle of life and death (samsara), and achieves the highest possible level of peace and freedom. in nirvana, one is liberated from suffering and negative emotions such as greed and hatred (take yuuji's hatred towards sukuna).

2. yuuji's domain

yuuji's domain is a non-combat domain. in fact, he mentions that he "doesn't even know what it is", and the mere reason he opened it was because he was desperate to talk to sukuna. the domain itself features various locations from yuuji's childhood - train station, park with a crawfish lake, farm. on one panel, we see horses - in buddhism, horses symbolise the journey towards spiritual liberation.

all of these locations have a sense of innocence and simplicity - a sharp contrast to sukuna's domain which is a hellscape, with a shrine as its only "landmark". there is a sense of tranquility and peace within yuuji's domain, as if a world without suffering exists.

3. yuuji's purpose

yuuji's purpose for opening his domain isn't to fight or kill. he simply wanted to talk to sukuna. his actions in this arc prove that he has no intentions to harm anybody - his first and foremost purpose is to protect people and he does so through any means necessary. his willingness to sacrifice himself for others and his pure heart, despite everything that happened to him, is what gives him his strength.

yuuji sharing his memories and experiences with sukuna is aligned with the buddhist practice of seeking understanding and enlightenment through introspection and dialogue, rather than conflict.

4. yuuji's perspective on life

yuuji rejects the notion that humans are mere tools with predetermined roles, explaining that even the simplest acts, like walking a dog or nurturing a family, hold intrinsic value. this perspective challenges sukuna's nihilism, emphasizing that every life, no matter how seemingly insignificant, has worth.

finding the joy in the smallest things - the joy that is often overlooked in the world, is a crucial aspect of nirvana, hence yuuji's focus on his past - the simplest moments of his childhood, which are full of joy and innocence.

5. buddha statue and kshitigarbha

yuuji's hand sign, a mudra symbolizing kshitigarbha, and the presence of the buddha statue we see in this chapter, are both an indicator of his enlightenment, as he is able to use a domain as a result of his awakening. the story of kshitigarbha ties in closely with the fact that yuuji offers sukuna a chance of salvation, if he releases megumi. this is an act of kindness, compassion and benevolence, in spite of sukuna's crimes, just like kshitigarbha offering a chance of enlightenment to all beings who were stuck in the depths of hell, as he saw value and worth in each of them.

6. the role of a person

when yuuji discusses the role of a sorcerer and rejects the notion of people being mere tools, the panels featuring the faces of those he respected and lost—wasuke, nanami, nobara, gojo, choso, and junpei—are a clear indication that yuuji, unlike sukuna, does not consider humans disposable and worthless. yuuji respects them, mourns them, and wants to make sure they are not forgotten.

these values are important in buddhism and are what makes a person worthy of nirvana: the willingness to accept the nature of things, the value of life, the importance of kindness and benevolence, and respect and care for others. basically, yuuji as a person embodies the core concepts of buddhism and its ultimate goal - nirvana.

My prediction hope & dream for JJK 266

So far I've been correct on Yuuji's domain being one of non-violence, (although the details I have gathered have yet to be revealed unless this is enough evidence).

and that

Yuuji's talk-no jutsu would be ineffective, but he might be capable of a listen-no-jutsu.

Sukuna can't relate - it probably feels like Yuuji is just rambling about his childhood, showing off how peaceful and carefree it was. Yuuji enjoyed shoveling snow (interesting how much snow came up, since this is important to my theory on Yuuji's domain. I guess it is still December 24th, isn't it? That's crazy. It's been at least 30 chapters by now).

Anyway, they're still in Yuuji's domain. I really, really hope that we get to see Sukuna's childhood next chapter. No one is aware of Sukuna's past, of why he became the monster (I believe it's a desperate grasp for his own autonomy).

Idk whether Gege will give us redemption but I still believe it could bring Choso, Gojo, etc. back.

Yuuji admit to not understanding his own domain, and I think it would be rly cool if Sukuna helps him to develop it. Maybe Sukuna could learn the value of life and connection, since Yuuji has this ability to reach people.

The thing with Choso is that he's like ash, but we don't know the size of Yuuji's domain - Sukuna's lacks a barrier, so I half expect Yuuji to be capable of that as well. Either way, I think his domain could cover the area where Choso's remains were scattered. He and Sukuna have this insane RCT ability, and domains get a can't-miss effect.

I really wanted to see Sukuna vs. the merger, maybe teamed up with the other sorcerers, but at this point I think that between Sukuna's destruction and Yuuji's reconciliation, they might be two halves of a whole that can redeem Japan from the chaos Kenjaku has caused with his merger.

Idk the details these are just thoughts I've gathered since yesterday.

Also we got to see baby Yuuji, show me baby Sukuna 😤 and how he met Uraume and also give me details on Tengen, I want confirmed lore so help me Gege.

If this upset you, then pls:

Listen I love Yuuji, and Megumi, almost everyone tbh (Mei and Mahito and Haruta, idc about u at all) but I also have Strong thoughts & feelings (especially) about Sukuna and I take his pain more personally. I know what I say is often unconventional and polarizing. I'm not saying this is canon, I'm saying that I have a hyperfixation and need to release these thoughts on my own blog. I don't want to start fights, I just like to see different interpretations and share my own. Frankly Yuuji was my first favorite character and I could never hate him. I just spend less time breaking down his perspective lately bc everyone else got that covered.

Am I the only one who thinks that Sukuna knows flowers bc he's into that? And he just blamed it on someone else bc of Yuuji's reaction. He was like, give me space brat.

Like when Sukuna was chilling in his own space with the boulders and the plants. I rly think he just wants to chill by himself in nature.

Or he would know from his past life's positions. Foraging bc he's an unwanted child living through famine. Learning to speak differently bc he's around people of a high class.

I'm not saying that Megumi doesn't know flowers, maybe he does too. But I don't think that Sukuna would have looked into his memories, he wanted there to be distance between them.

Like. Sukuna was pleased when Megumi used his domain for the first time. Bc they both need personal space and Sukuna copes w being repressed in Yuuji's body by retreating into his innate domain most of the time.

Or alternatively, what if Geto taught Gojo about flowers and when Gojo would take Megumi out as a kid he would point them out by name?

Somehow my shit brain believes both of these things

That Gojo taught Megumi about flowers bc Geto got Gojo into it, and that Sukuna knew the flower's name all on his own.

We use amacha for the ceremony of Buddha's birthday to bath the image of Buddha. Some of you might have drunk amacha at the flower festival. I remember when I was a child, I tasted amacha for the first time, and I was quite disappointed with the taste. Amacha is made with hydrangea leaves. To make amacha, first, rub the leaves, and then dry them to make tea. It is said that the custom of using amacha for the ceremony of Buddha's birthday is started in Edo era. In Shiga prefecture, there is a custom to place amacha in front of the Buddhist altar to serve them for the ancestors in June. The leaves has to be freshly picked before the flowers starting to bloom. In Edo era, the scholar "Ranzan Ono" introduced Amacha as the name of Japanese medicine "Dojosan" in his book "Honzou moumoku keimou". The book tells amacha is a family of hydrangea, but the name of the bleed is not specified in the book The book also says, Amacha is cultivated in Kyoto, but also grow wildly in mountain areas. Currently, amacha is chategolized as a variety of Japanese mountain hydrangea. However, by the theory of Shigeru Yamauchi from Meijyo University, it is also possible that Amacha was made by planting a cutting of mountain hydrangea. The oldest information of amacha stops at the book of "Honzou moumoku keimou". There are still lots of unknown things about Amacha including its origins. The research of Amacha is still be continuing.

[source]

Ok so doing more research, a lot about this origin story feels like this Buddha represents Megumi. The magic, white elephant with pink lotus, and his mother passing away soon after his birth - but nothing is known about that.

[source]

The baby being a prince (from the Zenin clan), born able to walk and speak (when Gojo met him), destined to be an emperor or a teacher (head of the clan, at least),

Some elements remind me a bit more of Gojo, but anyway. The more I read the more I fear making connections that aren't rly there, so I'll let other people handle this again.

Anyway I thought it was interesting that so many times when I look up things relevant to the lore of JJK, Kyoto is often mentioned. It wasn't randomly chosen for a sacred space in jujutsu.

Also the word matsuri and its meaning feels like a relevant thing,,, bringing the invisible into the visible, cleansing Megumi's soul, but that feels like a reach bc we aren't rly talking about festivals in this chapter are we? I don't knowwwww

i saw somewhere i can't remember someone talking about a Buddha bathing ritual that happens on the fourth lunar month (typically falling on May). In Japan during the Hana Mitsuri festival, they bathe the Buddha with amacha, a tea made of hydrangea fermented leaves. This ritual is done so that everyone has a chance to introspect themselves so that they will reduce bad seeds, increase good seeds, open their minds, raise the seeds of enlightenment, make life more meaningful and bring happiness to all sentient beings in this universe.

I Saw Somewhere I Can't Remember Someone Talking About A Buddha Bathing Ritual That Happens On The Fourth

Funny coincidence 🤔 /j

Ughhhhh you guys I keep thinking about Megumi, the symbolism with the flowers and his shikigami and Yuuji, so here's my uh attempt at interpreting things

Today I read into the flower from ch. 265's use and story with the birth of a Buddha who sounds a lot like Megumi, but at times also Gojo. [link that post]

Anyway,

I've been gathering this theory on Yuuji's domain (elaborated here) - I thought there is significance in the snow and in Fushiguro's rabbits. (the difference is that at this point his domain feels more about escaping than about resurrection. I just remembered Itachi's Genjutsu that gave Kabuto a redemption arc. Getting distracted).

The amount of foreshadowing in JJK is so ogjsjxkckajdj [link to that post as well maybe?]

One of my favorite scenes was in Shibuya, where Yuuji is holding one of Megumi's rabbits and they both make the same face. It's so cute (but at this point I suspect it was a clue).

He's holding onto a way for Megumi to escape, but his domain might also be related to helping others to escape from samsara. [this post really got me thinking about Yuuji and Nirvana. It lives in my brain now].

When I read up on the festival with the flower bath, the description of the elephant sounded like Megumi's shikigami. (there's also the fact that it sprays water, and kinda resembles Yuuji as well).

I think that's all I had to say? Please god make this make sense.

Oh, there's also that Buddha who Yuuji represents (remember the statues w the red cloths at his grandfather's grave? Yeah, that was him too. The hand sign for his domain expansion, etc, I feel like we all know that by now (guardian of souls, purifying hell ((sukuna redemption arc maybe??)), leading others to enlightenment, before worrying about his own chance to become a Buddha).

Also!! The baby Buddha prince who resembles Megumi came out the womb and said that it was his last life, no rebirth - so if my cryogenic theory about Yuuji's domain holds weight, then it could just mean that Megumi won't need to be reborn because he isn't going to die in the first place.

The end of ch. 265

The End Of Ch. 265
The End Of Ch. 265
The End Of Ch. 265
The End Of Ch. 265

-sukuna has a moment of vulnerability w Yuuji (and verbally communicates this gently)

-Yuuji immediately threatens Sukuna. Give up all your autonomy (return to me, the perfect cage that kenjaku made specifically to contain you) or I'll kill you.

Of course Sukuna lashes out. He feels betrayed, probably even by himself for showing a moment of honesty and weakness, and being proven right after that he needs to keep his guard up always and forever.

Ch. 266

The End Of Ch. 265
The End Of Ch. 265

Sukuna is the traumatized kid turned edgelord.

We see over and over again he is not in touch with his emotions, afraid of looking inward, not aware that he feels anything.

The End Of Ch. 265
The End Of Ch. 265

This page of Megumi and Yuuji looks just like the time when Gojo dragged him into the world of jujutsu. He didn't really have a choice - it was to be sold to his family, where Tsumiki would suffer. Or become a sorcerer (which he still resented at the end of middle school). Now Yuuji is trying to do the same thing - but he's offering all he can to understand, to let it be Fushiguro's choice. He's saying I miss you, but I won't guilt you into coming back.

The End Of Ch. 265
The End Of Ch. 265

2 other interesting things in this chapter: the last panel sounds just like Nobara. We've long suspected that the last finger was still hidden (Gojo hid the last finger to suspend Yuuji's execution forever), and that Nobara could return and use her resonance technique on it (she was the last person still recovering who Shoko mentioned, and Yuuji isn't allowed to know because Sukuna might pick up on that. Also why Yuuta lied to Sukuna about eating it).

This post goes more into that, with a foreshadowing image and how i believed Yuuji's domain would be snowy (and there was a lot of snow this chapter). The rest of my predictions for his domain's ability are still unseen, but with Megumi coming back, I have to wonder if it's related (maybe it isn't but I'm too Naruto Influenced).

Maybe Yuuji's way of bringing Megumi back is more like a baptism, as I gathered from the flowers mentioned in ch.265.

This was my prediction for ch. 266 btw

One thing I love about Sukuna's character design is his second pair of eyes. They show emotions behind the mask.

One Thing I Love About Sukuna's Character Design Is His Second Pair Of Eyes. They Show Emotions Behind

Look at his defensive dead stare in the first panel. And the eye that most people look past? It's hurt.

In the second panel, realization is apparent on both.

He thinks that maybe Yuuji was able to see past his wrath to the pain that feeds it. (maybe Yuuji was somehow aware of Sukuna's memories, after all the time they spent in the same body. Or it could be part of his domain, like how Hiromi (Higuruma) doesn't need to open the envelope to know what is in it. Yuuji's domain, whatever its technique is, seems related to memories at this point anyway.)

I think Sukuna was really giving Yuuji the benefit of the doubt here, that he was actually ready to hear Sukuna's side of things for the first time.

Maybe Yuuji's slice of life bit was actually an attempt to give sukuna the childhood that he didn't get to have. A chance to see what a carefree life feels like.

Of course, it was a false realization, or Yuuji's offer was not an act of mercy like he may have thought. Either way... I already rambled about the rest.

But God I love that we get this look into sukuna's true feelings whether he's in his true form or just fronting in someone else's body.

Sukuna going after Yuuji this chapter especially reminds me of that video where

Someone had adopted a bird who was abused in his previous home, so the dude's crushing the cage they had there under his feet while the bird curses and cheers him on.

I'm not saying that Yuuji deserves to die, but that Sukuna doesn't respect him as a sorcerer because Yuuji is first and foremost a cage to Sukuna, and I'm not sure if he'd be able to see past that.

Also bc of the way that Yuuji only tried to find humanity in Sukuna in ch. 265, briefly, but immediately ignored sukuna and called him annoying and only tried to communicate with him to demand help, all while sympathizing with school shooters (like the time he called Sukuna out to save Junpei). Bro has so much to say to Sukuna but it doesn't land bc he never listened enough to know anything about him.

Culling game foreshadowing - part 3/?

Yuuta & Uro, Hakari vs. The manga artist

Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 4

Spoilers up to Ch. 266, foreshadowed up to Ch. 183

Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 3/?
Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 3/?
Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 3/?

Yuuta recognizes that he has something Uro wasn't privileged to experience. That he doesn't have words that could have reached her. Much like Yuuji's failed talk-no jutsu (why do these guys think they can mansplain compassion, when if they would listen they could better understand and better talk to their opponent...)

Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 3/?
Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 3/?
Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 3/?

I want to believe the first bit is a hint that there will be a prequel or sequel series announcement.

The tiger here always seemed like a reference to the tiger of west middle (Yuuji), but I didnt get it at the time and moved on. Now, it seems to be about Sukuna struggling to fight Yuuji, due to the love that he showed Megumi in ch. 266.

Anyway, this chapter seems to be much about what goes on in Yuuji's domain during Ch. 265/266

The next 2 pages sound like passing time in your innate domain.

Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 3/?
Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 3/?

The first page here - Megumi's despair. Even before losing Tsumiki, he was so filled with angst during this arc. Losing motivation as a reader... Megumi used to read a lot (I think he stores books with his technique), but it can also mean that he's lost interest in observing and affecting reality. It's already been taken over by Jujutsu, and he's had enough.

The second page - - this is about Yuuji in ch. 265. Taking Sukuna on a walk to ramble about his (very happy, very unrelatable) childhood. And then turning suddenly against him with a death threat, when he was ready to speak vulnerably... Aren't stories for communication about understanding? It felt as out of place as using a pen as a weapon.

Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 3/?
Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 3/?

His vessel is already broken (Sukuna is losing control bc Yuuji connected with Megumi). He's also very emotional at this point.

Then Hakari opens his domain, but Yuuji's childhood also feels like a garbage infodump. It's also interesting that a train appeared in both of them, and not for any violent purpose.

Culling game foreshadowing - part 4

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 4

This looks similar to the flowers from ch. 265? For context...

Noritoshi is wondering whether his mom actually hates him, feeling like no one needs him. Why did she name him Noritoshi Kamo? Pronounced the same as the most evil sorcerer in history (actually, it was Kenjaku)?

Couldn't fit in this post, but Megumi's drink seems relevant to the flowers.

Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 4
Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 4
Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 4

Then we get to see her side of things. This already seemed like it was about Megumi and Yuuji...

And immediately after, it cuts to Angel / Hana speaking to Megumi, who was asleep for days. He doesn't respond to her, only Yuuji.

Gege I see what you're doing.

And didn't part 1 of this series mention destiny to Megumi? Why are they all saying that.

Then Takaba shows up, and I hope this happens too.

Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 4

Words aren't the answer, killing is healing, on God this is about Sukugo and Gojo will return to teach Sukuna about love.

Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 4

Is that Geto?

Is this about the systems failing justice, so Maki and Geto and Higuruma take it onto their own hands? Is Maki going to kill Mei Mei (who I assume they were just talking about)?

I don't rly know what's going on here I'm just throwing noodles at the wall to see if they're cooked.

Culling Game Foreshadowing - Part 4

Yuuta shifted his domain's location, instead of being over an ocean, it was where sorcerers could lurk and Maki could attack Sukuna.

It you're not over Itafushi in ch. 265 and 266, then this is for you.

So this follows part 4 of the culling game arc foreshadowing, regarding flowers.

I found that they've been used as amacha in a bathing ritual for Buddhist statues. Keeping that in mind as context...

It You're Not Over Itafushi In Ch. 265 And 266, Then This Is For You.

The label on Fushiguro's drink here reads midou, or meedō if we're going to translate it phonetically. It isn't in katakana, so it's probably a Japanese word, but I don't know it.

Only one definition came up, and...

It You're Not Over Itafushi In Ch. 265 And 266, Then This Is For You.
It You're Not Over Itafushi In Ch. 265 And 266, Then This Is For You.
It You're Not Over Itafushi In Ch. 265 And 266, Then This Is For You.

That's interesting. That's suspicious.

I know the statues by Grandpa Itadori's grave represent Yuuji. And I've guessed that the origin story this ritual celebrates is about the Buddha who represents Megumi.

And I guess he's also a statue, who will be enshrined and bathed.

Tldr I assume this all is foreshadowing to the curse bath and to the figurative one, that happens in Yuuji's domain.

Speaking of Yuuji's domain.... It's peak itafushi, I should make a masterlist of itafushi stuff at this point.

I'm not an expert on flowers, Buddhism, or Japanese so any additions to this are appreciated

Wait. Then it immediately goes into Itadori's curiosity about Akibahara being impossible to repress

Because it's a dreamlike place

Cosplayers, maid cafés, giant robots on foreign vehicles, video game characters, bright advertisements, etc. that make it feel like a theme park

He says he wants to go for the sight-seeing - which is foreshadowing ch. 265??

I am losing my goddamn mind and I'm only on like. Page 2

Edit to add: light novel analysis posting is now limited to @hermit-reads

Hello everyone I may have found more itafushi propaganda.

So in ch. 266, Fushiguro and Yuuji have that heart to heart conversation about life, dreams and suffering.

Hello Everyone I May Have Found More Itafushi Propaganda.

And ducks get a weird amount of screen time. That has to mean something, yeah?

Hello Everyone I May Have Found More Itafushi Propaganda.

They even come out of the manga panels - which I've grown to believe means that they feel like something inevitable, that will reach you (based on Mahito and Sukuna's hands, I think it's a design choice to illicit emotion in the reader).

So I looked up Japanese symbolism for ducks...

Transformation. Purification. Metamorphosis. Marital happiness. Nurturing and bonding. Good luck, emotional stability, that sort of thing.

These meanings remind me of the hydrangea flowers and how they could be suggesting amacha, a ritual bath for Buddhist statues. How megumi's drink in the culling games had that label.

reposting my found fams rant about a fandom being shitty/completely misunderstanding the characters (Me with the Epic: The Musical Fandom)

Okay hi um I'm sane enough to do my rant because holy shit this FANDOM /neu

WARNING there will be a LOT of spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen under the cut. ESPECIALLY the new release and chapters past 200 and manga only (not anime released) content

I feel like a lot of people in this fandom forget how young the protags are. Yuji and Megumi are around 15 years old. Why is this relevant? I'll get to that.

For once I was early to a chapter leaks release. Chapter 265. I was waiting for each translation and since they took minutes at a time, I found myself scrolling through the comments.

The amount of people that I have seen in the goddamn Twitter comments saying "Yuji's such a yapper" and "Yuji stop yapping and fight'" and "look at Sukuna he doesn't give a shit" I saw was just.. I don't know.

Especially to the people going "Yuji stop yapping and fight" I just found myself getting so fucking upset.

First up, hasn't he fought enough??? Haven't we gone CHAPTERS straight of Yuji fighting Sukuna? I know the action is cool and all but give him a break! Like I mentioned, he's only 15.

He's 15 and already had to deal with so much. Imagine losing your grandpa, your friend who had potential to join your side, both your mentors, your other friend who was practically your closest sibling (sorry headcanon moment), his half brother, and watch your friend get possessed and lose his will to live. Yuji has had to fight, fight, watch his loved ones die, and just dealt with so much shit of the jujutsu world when he practically would only be in his first years of high school.

He's already exhausted and he probably has not had any time to tell people. He's always busy caring about other people it's hard to think about himself. Despite talking to his most hated rival, he probably hasn't had any time to talk to someone about his past life. He's using the time to try to get Sukuna to understand, even if it doesn't work, and just cherishing the small things.

We see flashbacks of the pictures of all of the people who died. He's definitely thinking about them during his speech.

Stop it. Just stop. There was already all of that bumgumi shit from reddit. I don't need people trying to stop Yuji from "yapping" or whatever. He's not just yapping.

We get it. You're here for the fights. But deal with it. People don't fight every second of the day. Sometimes they need to let stuff out.

Let Yuji do what he needs to. Please. After all, it might be helping him

Hes already dealt with so much trauma. Please don't push him further to fight.

(Directed towards twitter) I hope you're happy. He's about to fight Sukuna again. I'm so happy for you you don't have to deal with any more yaps. So so happy. (Heavily sarcastic)
