Job Application - Tumblr Posts
Here’s a tip I heard from PirateSoftware, a famous game dev/streamer: usually personal projects can count as some form of experience and give you an advantage. If you want to get into a programming job, program some projects and add them to your resume. If you’re an artist, make an art portfolio with your process, time estimates for pieces, and the pieces themselves. If you want to be a designer, do the same but with mock branding projects. Apply this to your chosen field and see if this helps. Bonus points if the projects are relevant to what the employer wants (like a mock design for a transport company if you’re applying to be a designer at one).
Also, bonus tip: if you wanna make money from being an indie dev or freelance artist, get any job that pays okay and do your passion on the side until it can be your full-time job. Don’t make yourself destitute for your passion.
ENTRY LEVEL MEANS NO EXPERIENCE. IT MEANS NO PORTFOLIO OF RELEVANT SAMPLES. ENTRY LEVEL IS ENTRY LEVEL

Writing a cover letter: how to expand “I need money and I’m willing to work” into 3+ paragraphs
how is it fair that i have to apply for 20+ jobs over 5 days and write individualised cover keys and employers can ask stupid questions that can be answered by reading my CV which they asked me to attach. i have to put in a lot of time, effort, and emotional energy applying to jobs. and then employers don’t even have to respond to me. i’m lucky to hear back that i didn’t get the job. it’s not fair that i am not being hired for entry level dishwashing position because i “don’t have enough experience” when i WORKED IN A KITCHEN for 2.5 years and therefore WASHED DISHES FOR 2.5 MOTHERFUCKING YEARS. and the worst part. the most grating part. is that these sleezeball business owning mitherfuckers are STILL complaining that young people are lazy and don’t want to work.
i am feeling big 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
My sister was applying for a job at a card store and she had to take one of these. In the interview afterwards they told her she had failed it because when asked if she had ever stolen anything she answered “strongly disagree”. They then responded by asking her, “Not even a cookie from the cookie jar?” She didn’t get the job because they said she was just saying what they wanted to hear and not really being honest because it’s not possible that anyone could never have stolen anything in their entire life. In other words they didn’t hire her because she asnwered too perfectly. So really there is no winning these stupid hiring games.

job applications just keep getting weirder…..
