I wrote another kidlaw fic.
need kidlaw to form an alliance for yonko-defeating purposes. totally not so they argue and infuriate one another until that irritation begins developing an affectionate undertone, growing warmer the more they inevitably spend time with each other and learn to navigate their personalities, values, and inner conflicts. need their crews to become acquainted with each other and start perceiving each other as family for cooperation and communication purposes, and not so they can gang up on their captains and be the best (worst) wingmen known in pirate history.
need kidlaw to spend a quiet moment together, defenses stripped and hearts laid bare as they finally accept they’re weren’t quite enemies anymore, were they? need kidlaw to emerge victorious yet badly bruised from their first fight as an alliance, cradling their worry and concern between scathing words and false bravados. need law to fall silent, turning away to look anywhere but at kidd’s hard gaze and slightly furrowed brows. “be more careful, eustass-ya. if you fall, we all do.” need kidd to look down at his tightly clenched yet wavering hands, face heating up. “could say the same for you, trafalgar.”
Im procrastinating so hard on the heartpunk pirate au like its not even funny. The designs just keep changing over and over i may have to change Kid's again
thinking about college roommate au kidlaw that have a strained dynamic because of their stubborn and difficult attitudes. but despite all the arguments and many days worth of snark, they’re there for each other at their lowest in their own subtle ways.
when law is forcing himself past his mental capacity while studying and getting increasingly frustrated despite being fully aware he won’t be able to cram in any more information with what little energy he has, kidd rolls over in his bed and grumbles “can you shut the fuck up. i can hear your stress from here. go to damn bed, you look and sound like shit.”
when kidd is fussing over 3D model prototypes for a design he’s already struggling to find motivation for and the program is simply not cooperating with him and the imminent due date does not help matters, law leans back in his chair and throws him a glare, going “go take a damn walk or something. you’re not getting shit done if you just sit there groaning all day.”
when the other responds with a snarl and biting words, yet proceeds to do exactly what they were “advised,” they know they did their job and find quiet relief in knowing it helped- though they would never admit it.
