I'm... way more invested in this than I should. But who cares?? I just wanna see Launchpad fangirling because he has the coolest grandma (he adopted her, don't @ me)
This looks way better than expected, considering that is a photo of my computer's screen bc I'm that idiot who starts getting really into it, forgets that I can't save it and doesn't know how to screenshot. Also, 1st time drawing Launchpad. Definetely worth it š
I'm speaking this into existence before tomorrow's episode because if I don't do it, no one will.
Launchpad got Beakley into Darkwing Duck, so he finally has someone to attend the annual Comic Con with. (Beakley is cosplaying as Darkwing, of course)
What if he's also meeting one of his mutuals there?? They haven't met irl before but they have had countless discussions about the show for ages and it feels like the perfect moment to finally see each other face to face. So they text each other how they are dressed and agree to meet in the entry.
"Don't worry Mrs B, i think my friend is about your age, so I'm sure you two will get along in no time!!"
So when he spots her, he runs towards his mutual, sure that mrs Beakley is right behind him and introduces himself. Except that instead of following him, Beakley just freezes in the spot because there she is.
Barely three meters away from her, talking to her co-worker and wearing Negaduck's tacky colors.
Black Heron herself.
She's busy talking and fangirling with Launchpad and thankfully hasn't noticed her yet.
"Heron_22? I'm DWD's-SIDEKICK!! The name's Launchpad!!! I'm everybody's friend^^!!!"
" Karen Bloch. I've been dying to formally meet you Launchpad!!"
"Hey, remember I told you I'd bring a friend? Meet Mrs B, I just got her into the show last week!!! she totally loved it!! We even started filming our own script!!!!"
"Oh, you MUST show it to me when it's done!!! it's a pleasu-"
The moment Heron finally recognizes Beakley, who at this point is very obviously fighting her fly or fight response, the time seems to stop and she's left speechless. What the fuck is doing Agent 22 in there???
Launchpad is just looking at them with his huge happy and pure grin, waiting for them to greet each other bc they have so much in common he's sure they'll be friends in no time.
Beakley really doesn't want to let him down, they became friends like a week ago and she already cherishes their relationship but like, that woman??? tried to kill her at least twice??? She's a FOWL agent??? surely planning world domination for the tenth time this week???
For Karen's part, she either tries to kill Agent 22 right there, ruining her only chance to meet her favourite actor and get to know her mutual or just let it pass this time. Launchpad is her friend. They have been fangirling together about DWD for years, discussed episodes and theories, created headcanons and AUs and argued for hours about who was better, Darkwing or Negaduck. She just got a friend who loved DWD as much or even more than her. That cartoon and Launchpad were the only thing that kept her sane (although unknowingly for LP) during her quest for revenge against the woman in front of her. She didn't want to loose that.
(Not to mention they are supposed to be SECRET spies.)
So they act as if they didn't know each other already and awkwardly shake hands, trying (and failing miserably) to sound as excited as LP expected them to be.
The rest of the day is spent similar to that "Valentine Ghoul" part where Morgana, Darkwing and Negaduck go out together.
Aka. Launchpad smiling and asking if they were having fun and both women smiling in reply, just to throw daggers with their eyes at each other when he turns around and throwing snark remarks masked as compliments.
Beakley brought food for everyone. (At that moment she wishes she had poison at hand, it would have been so easy to get rid of Heron!!)
"Cooking, ruining people's lives... Oh my, Is there anything you are not good at, my dear BEAKLEY?"
" Oh, I don't know KAREN , I just try to do my best"
Launchpad leaves for a second and everyone in there gets to see a real-life Darkwing VS Negaduck fight, smoke guns and heavy weapons included. And woah, those gadgets DO look real.
"OMFG from where did you get a CHAINSAW!!!!??????"
"Oh, lucky me, it just came with the cosplay :) "
Some idiot, that clearly wanted to die that day, insults Launchpad.
People just assume that they are a couple of old grumpily married badass grandmas and their precious son/ grandson.
At some point Scrooge sees a photo LP sends him. Beakley squeashed next to Heron, who he recognizes immediately, both with startled faces, and he's like "what the actual fuck...". He doesn't run to help 22 though. This is way too funny.
Even though they don't admit it to each other, Launchpad is right, they ARE having fun. Who would have known that one could have so many shared experiences with their sworn enemy???
At the end of the day they've gone from calling "22" and "Heron" to "Karen" and "Bentina". Launchpad firmly believes that this proves they are friends now.
JUST... picture those two, dressed as Darkwing Duck and Negaduck, being as passive agressive as possible for a whole day. Then add one sunshine man-kid to the mix. Endless shenanigans.

The feeling that something was missing grew and grew every day, and the two pieces lost from the puzzle of his life were almost impossible to find. Then, he met Launchpad McQuack and Gosalyn Waddlemeyer and the puzzle started to make sense.

There was this dream that Drake had from time to time.
It always started the same way, he would step into a room, its floor, roof, and walls white to the point that it was hard to distinguish between them, but the really interesting part of it was the disorganized puzzle pieces in the middle of it.
Drake, always up for the challenge and the mystery, would walk and sit down in front of the disaster, immediately putting hands to work and resolving the puzzle as fast as he could. Every time he had the dream, he was even faster than the last time and he would feel extremely proud but at the same time impertinently frustrated. Because it didnāt matter how fast or competent he was at resolving it, there always seemed to be two pieces lost.

It was amazing to see them fighting crime together AND being wholesome. Not to mention the whole parenting and how they do look after one another. They're partners in every way and I just find that so beautiful

Hey does anyone know Launchpad mcquacks age is the darkwing duck series? I'm making a sideshow about MY interpretation of Darkwings relationships and how his iffy at best mental health affects them. I wanted to see if there is a big age gap between them considering that most of the Fandom seems to agree that they were queer coded. For reference Drake is 35 ish at the time of the show.
I just think that everyone that makes absolute scrumptious trans! fanart of my blorbos deserved the max amount of affection that they are comfortable with. This can range everywhere from Honda odyssey level smash to a limp handshake. Like i would kiss u on the mouth or nod in your general direction whatever u want actually
