MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
I FINALLY FINISHED WATCHING MOON KNIGHT!
Now it's time for me to complete my over 10+ unfinished anime shows 😭💀 Wish me luck y'all
Spoilers for Moon Knight's Episode 5 ‼️
Sfksgshsjd just watched the fifth episode of Moon Knight and as usual I'm traumatised. Marvel does have thing for making the second last episodes (like in WandaVision) emotional rollercoasters.
LIKE WTF I don't even know where to begin. Like should I begin with Oscar's acting or Marc's/Steven's, whoever the original is, story. Like bro that fucking scene where Dr. Harrow asks about who made whom was so fuckin' deep and just I don't even have words for it. GANSBDKXJDJDH
And man don't even get me get started on all the shit my poor baby Marc went through and Steven, you absolute angel, thank you for being a therapist (and an escape?? again WTF marvel) to him. The freakin' juxtaposition of Marc seeing Steven as both, the person the who keeps him sane after all the stuff he did as Khonshu's avatar as well as an escape from the trauma from his childhood.
THEN THEY KILLED HIM!! Like the AUDACITY of marvel to play with our hearts like that. Damn one day phase 4 is just gonna give me an aneurysm.
They better fix this whole beautiful painful mess they made. What about Layla, Harrow, Khonshu and defeating Ammit 😭. I can't even.

Steven:
Marc Spector: Stop kissing my wife!
Steven Grant: Don’t you mean “our wife”?
Jake Lockley: …wait, we’re married? How long has it been since I asked the tour guide out?
Ammit who? They’re the only gods I saw💅
i’m tired of hearing people say that the “egyptian superhero” line was cringey. like yeah, sure it was a little corny, but i don’t give a fuck. that entire moment legitimately made me tear up. it means so much to me. i’ve thought about it every day. love that moment with my whole heart.
and honestly it isn’t even that bad a line like so many mcu fanboys seem to think. like if every superhero was egyptian and an american superhero suddenly appeared then there would probably be mcu civilians saying things like “oh wow we have an american superhero!” i mean good lord just let us have this one time that egyptians aren’t portrayed as terrorists. and seeing an egyptian be a main character, a developed love interest, and a superhero means a lot to me and many others. so just stop whining about one throwaway line and use that time to appreciate layla instead.
Steven is jealous tbh
When I say I've been thinking about this every day since I first saw it a few months ago, I wish I was joking.
First of all, the sheer depth of the implications behind 'and she met his mother and father' ... that's Layla meeting Elias and getting a look into something Marc has turned away from, something he's lost touch with, this person holding faith that Marc instead buries deep, deep down. That's Layla meeting Wendy and instantly knowing there's something wrong, unable to place it exactly but noticing the way Marc just...locks up. That's Marc having seen his father years earlier than it was made out to be, it's him having seen his father after he left home and not just because of the Shiva. That's Marc having seen his mother after he left home, actually being in the same room as her after he literally ran away from her. That's...it changes so much in my head you guys ahdkfkfl
Moon Knight being directed and produced by Mohamad Diab, an Egyptian-Arab, SHOWS and it is so important:
-The music is amazing. Having Arabic music in a Marvel show and in the main stream was such a pleasent surprise. None of the orientalist sterotypical crap either. There's many songs and different genres used, fitting the scenes they are put in perfectly. They literally put Arabic music OVER THE MARVEL INTRO! They used real songs from real egyptian and Arab artists and the score is made by an Egyptian composer, Hesham Nazih
Episode 2 credits
Song: El Melouk (meaning the Kings) - Ahmed Saad
-No ugly yellow filter that is shown in most western movies and shows when in the middle east or countries such as mexico to show them as "hot, dusty and foreign". Instead when in Egypt the natural looking lighting is kept and the country is shown with It's beauty, and not just in the dessert:
-The language! In most western movies and shows they have very clearly foreign people "speaking arabic" and im supposed to believe their characters know the language when in reality it is not understandable and it is done horribly. Dont get me started on Eternals where there is a whole speech in "arabic" with not a single word correctly said. At least ad lib it. (to clarify im not talking about the Lebanese actor. He was fluent. Im talking about every other lead)
But in Moon Knight most of the arabic is said by people who can actually speak arabic or well enough by non arabic speakers. The Arabic language and dialects are correct. They also included some Coptic. Oscar Isaac has one line in Arabic and he said it perfectly, sounded like a native. Ethan Hawke had a few that were very accented but still understandable and better than 95% of non arabs pretending to know the language.
-The character of Layla El-Faouly is essential. We needed an Egyptian (secondary) protagonist in this story that is set often in Egypt and based heavily in Egyptian mythology. She is the FIRST Arab female character in the MCU (long overdue tbh) . And the actress herself, May Calamawy, is Palestinian-Egyptian:
The show is doing amazing in authentic representation and avoiding orientalism and sterotypes
SPOILER edit:
FIRST ARAB SUPERHERO NOW LETS GO
