Okay, I've just finished jatp for the 4th time in about two weeks... anyway, I realised something at the end of episode 9. This might just be me being the sap that I am, but the way Alex so instinctively grabs a hold of Luke's hand at the end of the Stand Tall performance is making me question everything. Like, I get that Reggie and Luke didn't grab onto Julie cause they couldn't, but it's just something in the way Alex grabbed Luke's hand that speaks differently than it usually does. It kinda reminds me of that scene from like the last episode of season 6 of teen wolf where Mason grabs Corey's hand when they're in the hospital

That's all I had to say. Idk what I was trying to prove but to me it makes sense that Alex and Luke are exes. Just the way they act around and talk to each other differs from the way they act around and talk to Reggie. It's like their friendship and bond is made up of a different kind of string, if that makes sense

Okey, this might be really out there but you know how there's only one actual Sunset Curve song, like og sunset curve, so far? Well, I've found that one of my favourite bands (and my 3rd most listened to artist of this year, whoops) really reminds me of sunset curve. They're called With Confidence. If anyone else, like me, just really wish there were more sunset curve songs, you should check them out. Their songs are a bit more on the deep and dark side though as their main theme seems to be mental health but their music is so incredible, it's really worth a listen.

You know what I want for season 2? An Alex lead singer song. Honestly, Owen's voice is great and if he got the chance I'm convinced he'd blow everyone's minds.

Also, Luke got the whole Unsaid Emily cryfest (I'm still crying... it's been 3 months... I'm almost on Alex's level at this point) and Reggie had his jam so now we're just missing a song for Alex to shine.

I also wouldn't say no to a Alex x Willie duet...

You know why the Willie x Alex duet in season 2 is freaking important? Because the only other gay couple musical duet I can think of is from Bare and that's a fucking tragic ass story so...

I just thought of something...

The boys are originally obsessed with confronting Bobby, right?

Well, why didn't they just get Julie to play a song with them in front of Bobby? They could write a song about their feelings of betrayal toward him? The way they did with Flynn. Reggie even managed to talk to Flynn in the Flying Solo performance so wouldn't that have made sense?

I'm thinking too much these days, but if you listen to the lyrics of "You got nothing to lose", there's a line like "Listen to the words a wise man said; he said "Covington, I got an offer that you can't refuse""

This could be a reference to when Caleb first became a ghost and how he got into the whole ghost club scene. How he got the same offer that he's giving the boys from another ghost.

As a firm believer that no one is born evil (some exceptions absolutely do occur), I think there's a lot more to Caleb's character than let's on.

I have two theories as of now.

1. He could be out for revenge.Ā

This could be his ā€œmodifiedā€ unfinished business. He could have gotten into the deal himself centuries ago and he’s been looking for someone to pass the deal onto so that he himself can pass on. It might seem selfish but really it’s only human. Self-preservation is the only way to survive, right? Not that Caleb has that problem anymore but you get the point. So really, I don’t think he’s evil in the way he’s perceived.

2. He genuinely thinks what he’s doing is right.

This theory comes from theĀ ā€œno one is born evilā€ belief. If you think about it, what he’s doing could absolutely, in the right context not seem as terrible. He’s offering the boys a secure way to keep doing music together forever, and be seen by actual people. His motivation methods are extremely wrong but you know, we don’t know how long he’s been dead and his perception of society might be so incredibly ancient that the only way of negotiation he knows of is through violence. But like I said, I don’t think he’s necessarily a bad or evil person.Ā

So, in conclusion, I don’t think Caleb is the villain we’re all seeing him as. He’s desparate. He’s lonely. He’s probably bored out of his witts to be honest. Imagine playing the same song over and over again. As a musician myself, and performer to some extent (eh, mostly school related concerts), I can absolutely see the joy in performing like that. Hell, I would do anything to get to perform like that. But for all eternity? Come on!

Personally, I think Caleb is just a bit old school and he needs someone to guide him through the improved ways of the world

Thank you for coming to my TED talk. I hope you have a wonderful day and happy holidays!

Just realised something else...

I might be kinda stupid for not realising this sooner but you know the Finally Free performance in the show, right?

In the last chorus when Julie's doing the adlibs, it's ducking Reggie who's singing the melody. I'm crying, Jeremy's voice is so good😭

And that's a high ass freaking melody too, it ain't easy doin, I'll tell you that

I'm a female and I have the vocal chords of a female and holy crap that melody is high for me, so the fact that Jeremy can sing it is really impressive to me

Ok I kinda want to write this now is that ok? I don’t know anything about lacrosse though.....

I’d credit you for the original idea.

Am i the only one who wants to see a lacrosse game in season 2? Like imagine CalebNick trying to play and he starts using his ghosty powers to try and win?? Like that would be really freaking cool

Ok so I’m watching finally free for the bajillionth time and this has probably been said but I had a thought: what if Luke wrote Finally Free to help show his support for Alex after he came out to his parents. Ignoring all of the other boys possible sexualities, let’s see what we know.

Long post btw.

1. We know that Luke wrote it before he died because it was in his journal.

2. We know that Alex came out to his parents and it didn’t go well. With his anxiety on top of the stress of coming out and being met with rejection, this would have been a really hard time for him.

3. Luke connects with people and conveys emotion through music and that music has connected the boys from the very beginning.

4. The boys support Alex and his sexuality very much!

Going almost line by line:

ā€œHearts on fire /We're no liars/So we say what we wanna say/I'm awakened/No more faking/So we push all our fears awayā€

This is like how Alex couldn’t hide who he was from his parents any longer and told them, even though it must have made his anxiety go through the roof. Also ā€œI’m awakenedā€ refers to a sexual awakening and Alex realizing that he was gay. He couldn’t lie to his parents, so he faced his fears and told them. Luke is congratulating him, even though it didn’t turn out well.

ā€œAnd you're a part of me/Hands up if you're with me/Now 'til eternity/Hands up if you believe/Been so long, and now we're finally freeā€

This part is Luke talking to Alex saying that even though things aren’t great, it’s ok. You have us and we’re gonna be with you no matter what. Screw your parents. You’re finally free of them. This is also the vibe I get from Luke in the scene before This Band is Back where they’re talking about what happened to Bobby and their families.

ā€œWe're all bright now/What a sight now/Coming out like we're fireworks/Marching on proud/Turn it up loud/'Cause now we know what we're worthā€

This one is a bit more self explanatory. It literally says coming out like we’re fireworks, which are very colorful and rainbowy. Next it says marching on proud as a reference to pride. ā€œTurn it up loudā€ because Alex refuses to hide anymore. Finally ā€œcause now we know what we’re worthā€ says ā€œHey Alex. You’re awesome and even if your parents don’t see that, you are and you’re worth so much more than they know.ā€
