Small makeup rant-

My first non Spider-Verse related post? Crazy lol

I understand fully that people mean well by it, but I just want people to know that “Your makeup is so good! I’d love for you to do my makeup!” isn’t quite the compliment you think it is. And for that matter, MOM/every non-makeup-doing-person in my life, why I can’t just get a job in makeup because I’m good at makeup.

I’ve been doing makeup artistry for like, 8 years now or something. So yes, that does mean I’m skilled at makeup. But what people don’t understand is that that means I’m skilled at makeup on my OWN face!

In those 8 years of learning makeup through lots of practice, plays, and even classes specifically for it, I have been training my brain and my hands to understand my own face! To try and do makeup on another person is not only working on an unfamiliar canvas with different features than my own, but is also forcing me to entirely flip my hands around to the way they’re used to working. It’s like telling an artist or painter to draw or paint something with their non-dominant hand. Or asking anyone to do something with their non-dominant hand, it’s totally flipped around! Also the fact that I have difficulty with touch and touching other people doesn’t help (thank you trauma👍)

Again, I know people mean well by this and at the end of the day it’s super sweet of them. But it’s also frustrating because if you just thought about it for a few seconds, then you’d get why that respectfully doesn’t make sense 😭
