Manny Noceda - Tumblr Posts

Vee and King Sibling Dynamic in my AU is so fascinating to think about.
Thoughts Below
[For context, Vee ended up in the human realm very early and is adopted as an only child by the Nocedas (I'm not giving away what happened to Luz, cuz I actually want some stuff to write about when I finally do decide to ya know... Write it).]
Cause like, they're both Orphans of seemingly exctict species, they then get adopted by parents who have no idea wth they even are. Then they find out that the other members of their kind were killed/tortured.
I feel like Vee would be super supportive of King's hurt feelings about his dad. She would comfort him since she knows what it's like not knowing your birth family.
King would also share all of his demon knowledge with her, and she'd use shapeshifting to engage with the lessons and mimic the creatures shown.
AAAGGGGHHH SO MANY IDEAS!!!!

(pic unreated)

What if Vee got adopted by the Nocedas as a baby? (She is now free from the horrors)
From an AU I'm slowly brainstorming

Floppy ears!! :3

This is an old sketch, based on a fic I read by Frog_With_A_Mushroom on AO3 (@fruity-phrog here). The concept of Vee and Luz growing up in the opposite realm they did in canon is what initially inspired me to do my AU. I still have barely written anything for it, but one of these days, I'm gonna do something with it.

An hour after finding the...Snake? Creature? Thing?
Regardless what it was called, Manny washed it up because it was muddy and slimy from the rain and needed to get dried so it wouldn't catch its death. Same went with Luz, who after taking a quick bath had then ran to grab all her plushies and toys and started showing them off to the creature as they sat in the living room. It was still wrapped in Manny's jacket, using it as a pseudo blanket and watched as Luz listed off each little toy she had, with Manny standing off to the side to keep an eye on both of them.
"This is Sr. Oso," Luz explained as she hold up her teddy bear. "Papi won it for me at a carnival and he became my best bear friend forever."
"Hola, snake person," Luz spoke through the teddy bear. "It's nice to meet you!"
She held the teddy bear's paw out and the creature looked at it, sniffed it a bit, and gave it a little lick. Instantly, the creature gagged at the taste of old cotton and felt.
"No!" Luz laughed. "You don't lick Sr. Oso. You hug him. Watch!"
Luz hugged the bear and held it out to the creature. Hesitantly, it reached out and held Sr. Oso. With one more curious glance to Luz, who gave the creature an encouraged nod, it gently hugged the teddy bear. Then it hugged it a little tighter, appreciating the warmth it brought as if it was the first hug the creature ever experienced.
'It probably was,' Manny thought.
Camila walked up to him with a heavy sigh. "I did a ton of Google searches," she said. "Looked up some research papers on reptiles, made some searches of what could be scaly and talk, and even went to a cryptids sub-reddit to see if anyone spotted anything remotely similar to this."
"Any results?" Manny asked.
"Just that this one guy named Jacob really needs a girlfriend." Camila groaned. "I've got nothing. I don't know what this thing is or have any idea of where it could have come from."
"Maybe we should stop calling it a thing...and an it," Manny suggested. "It--They seem intelligent. I mean, they spoke. They have to be. And that could mean they're intelligent enough to not appreciate being called an 'it.'"
"Well, what am I supposed to do? Ask its pronouns?"
"Ooh! I can do that!" Luz chirped before looking to the creature. "Are you a she? Or a he?"
"She...? He...?" The creature asked.
"Yeah. Are you like Papi?" She pointed at Manny. "Or are you like me?"
Luz pointed at herself and the creature stared at her, silent and processing. Then, much to Camila and Manny's shock and bewilderment, it shapeshifted into an identical copy of Luz. Down to the missing tooth of her bright smile and everything.
"Like you?" the creature said.
"Woah..." Luz gasped, her eyes glowing with astonishment. "Mami! Papi! Did you see!"
"We sure saw, Mija..." Manny breathed.
"I'm going to go do more research," Camila numbly said as she slowly walked out of the room, eyes still glued to the creature until she was out the door. With Camila gone, Manny slowly walked over to the creature and knelt down to it--her.
"Is this your way of saying you're a...her?" was all he could ask and the creature looked away before giving a small, barely noticeable nod. "Okay, good to know...Now do you think you could stop looking like my daughter? It's freaking me out a little."
The creature obliged, changing back to her original form.
"Sorry..." she quietly said.
"It's okay," Manny told her, his voice gentle. "I'm just trying to understand...you. Um, what's your name by the way? You said something about V?"
"It...was all...that was on cage..."
Manny's brow furrowed. "Cage?"
The creature shrank in Manny's jacket and Manny saw the tears forming at the corner of her eyes. "Bad men..." the creature whispered. "Put me in cage...Did bad things...Made me do bad things..."
"Hey, hey, it's okay..." Manny slowly reached out and put his head on the creature's head. It flinched at first, but after feeling his slow, gentle touch, she leaned into it and allowed him to soothe her. "I don't know who these bad men are, but they aren't here now. You're safe...Vee."
The creature sniffed and looked up at Manny. "Vee...safe?"
"Vee is very safe. I promise."
"And Papi always keeps his promises!" Luz said. "Like how he promised he'll get better!"
"And look at me now. Healthy as a--" Manny's words were undercut by a cough. "Sorry. A-hem! Little tickle in the throat there, it happens. I'm happy and healthy. And I'll keep you safe."
Vee began to tear up some more, but this time Manny was sure it was tears of joy.
"Thank you..."
"Of course.
Luz Noceda’s Resurrection

Man isn’t it crazy how S3 is about… How Thanks to Them is Luz being depressed, to the point of bordering on a suicide metaphor, especially with her rant about how she should’ve never existed, her video diary being reminiscent of a suicide note? But then in For the Future, Luz talks to her mother, and she realizes what she really wants… And realizes, she DOES want to live!!! And at the beginning of Watching and Dreaming, we get a glimpse into the silly, joyous, Luz we know and love…

And then she dies. Right after realizing, after a period of suicidal depression, that she wants to live. That Luz wants a future. As she’s sinking into the afterlife, Luz mournfully regrets when she realizes what final words she should’ve said, which hearkens, dare I say, to the suicide note allegory in Thanks to Them.

But Luz decided she wanted to live, already; So when the Titan gives her the choice to keep going, Luz chooses. Not just to save the Boiling Isles and everyone she loves, not just to live her dream and become the fantasy she worked so hard for. But also to just simply live.

Season 3 of The Owl House is a spiritual death and rebirth for Luz; The loss of her passion, her luster for life, her dreams and hope. The utter resignation and despair bordering on suicide ideation… Only to come back from that darkness stronger and brighter than ever! And so we’re given a literal death and rebirth to reflect this, how Luz’s re-instilled hope is what gives her the will to keep moving on! After falling into the darkest depths of depression and the in-between realm, Luz is saved by the support of a parental figure, and with their help can choose to live.

Luz dying and coming back in the finale, that’s what it is; Among other purposes in the narrative, it’s a summation of Luz’s arc in the final stretch of the show. Her realizing she wants to live, in the literal and figurative definitions of the word. Coming back from her lowest point with the help of others, being rejuvenated with a new life, inspired to keep going after a father figure gives a last gift that sparks the joy in Luz once more.

Luz sinking into the depths of the in-between could very well be a metaphor for her depression after losing her father Manny, only to be saved when he has one more thing to give; Just as the Titan does. And one can see the inspiration of Dana’s own experiences, losing her father as a child, only to receive one final gift from him, a copy of Pokemon Red.

Manny inspires Luz to be the Good Witch Azura; Eda tells Luz she needs to be her own witch; Camila encourages Luz to do just that; And the Titan enables Luz to finally accomplish this, the beginning, middle, and end of this arc of hers. Manny, Eda, Camila, the Titan, they all rescued Luz from her spiritual and/or literal deaths. Because TOH is about so many things; It’s about the love of a parent. It’s a resurrection story. It’s about finding light in the darkness.

All right, so that analysis that the Titan’s passing is analogous to Manny’s death? The Titan sadly acknowledging to Luz that he’s rather dead-looking, for someone who should be alive; Something Manny might’ve acknowledged as his illness progressed?

The Titan saying “I thought I had more time left” as the corruption takes over?

Giving one last gift to Luz before he says goodbye and passes on? Luz making the most of that gift to live her fantasy and find friends?

Luz fucking. Luz fucking laying the last thing her dad Manny gave to her, before he died, in the trash. Like it’s her resigned to the fact that he’s dead. Letting go. Lowering the book into the garbage like he was lowered into his grave. Admitting in despair he’s gone. Only to still go back for him anyway, still believing his love still exists and finding hope for more friends. I can’t.

This is who you see when you die /j
