Marinette Salt Prompt: A surprisingly realistic outcome for breaking into a house
Despite what people may think, Firemen (while they do focus on combating fires) are people who do more than just combating fires. They often help with emergencies as a whole, helping to comfort victims who have undergone or are threatened with injury, or assisting people involved in domestic, industrial and transport incidents, including road accidents.
Naturally, when one random Parisian firemen saw a girl attempting to break into a house of a very wealthy and rich person, they would do the right thing and stop it.
After stopping Marinette from breaking into the Agreste household, the fireman quickly called the police to detain the girl and contact her parents, hoping that the issue could be resolved. Unfortunately for the bluenette (who couldn’t stop Adrien from being forced to spend time with the evil Lila!), the only officer close by was Roger Raincomprix, who was taking his daughter back home at the time. Although the appearance of Oni-Chan allowed Marinette to slip away and transform, it didn’t stop Roger from calling her parents the next day and explaining what had happened.
It also didn’t stop Sabrina from telling Chloe, who was more than happy to tell anyone who listened. By the start of the next morning, most people in the school knew what had happened with Marinette. Not only that, but Adrien and Gabriel learned about it as well.
For Gabriel, the answer was more than obvious: he placed a restraining order on Marinette from being able to be anywhere near his son. While she could still be allowed to go to school, Adrien would be moved to a different classroom to continue his education. Naturally of course, Gabriel would also ensure that the bluenette would NOT have her work (such as the derby hat) featured anymore on the Gabriel brand, and with a few public leaks about the incident, ensured that the bluenette would effectively be BLACKLISTED from pursuing any career in clothing design.
For Adrien, the reaction was more mixed, at least at first. He understood to some extent why Marinette would try and get in (since Lila did something that really made him uncomfortable), but it still was wrong of her to do such a thing. Not to mention that he ended up having to move away from his homeroom just to be allowed to study at school, effectively reducing the time he spent with his friends. Still though he was mixed about his feelings for Marinette…at least until Alix mentioned how obsessed Marinette was with Adrien.
After inquiring with Alix about what she meant, and confronting a somewhat shocked Alya, Adrien quickly learned about Marinette’s crush on him along with her obsession with the blonde. Putting the pieces together (even if it wasn’t fully true or false), Adrien came to an immediate realisation, and lost all interest in seeing Marinette again, or acknowledging her as a friend. After all, this is not the first obsessive stalker he has met or known about, but it hurt knowing that one was someone he once considered a friend.
For Marinette, the situation quickly became worse. Most of her former friends immediately shunned her upon realising of what she had done (even if it had been due to Lila being a liar), and while Nino and Alya did try to be somewhat caring (even if they were still angry at her), learning about the restrainment and learning that Adrien no longer considered her a friend broke her hard.
She had quickly ran home, only to learn that it wasn’t good there either. Tom and Sabine had been told what had happened the other day and immediately grounded the bluenette, along with organising an appointment for her to go see a therapist, given that she attempted to break the law all because of a boy.
Tikki was sad about what happened to her chosen, but acknowledged that what she did was wrong and that the current events were the only logical outcome. While she wouldn’t leave Marinette, it was obvious the latter needed more discipline, but with Fu training her to be the guardian, perhaps she could learn that skill. Not that she would have much else to do in the future, given that Marinette had broke into tears upon realising her dreams as a fashion designer were over.
A few days later, Ladybug would go on patrol with Chat Noir. Seeing that the latter was down, she asked him what was wrong. While Chat Noir did not tell her who he was, Ladybug was quickly able to figure out who Chat was as the latter told her the story about how a “creepy stalker he once considered a friend” attempted to break into his house.
While outwardly she offered him comfort, inside Marinette could only quake and cry at the ironic realisation: the boy she loved was the same hero she turned away advances from, and now that boy would hate her forever.
And so while life would continue on and the heroes would end up saving Paris, that week ended the childhood dreams of Marinette Dupain Cheng. Her dreams being a fashion designer with 3 kids and a hamster with her beloved all went up in smoke.
All because she forgot that her actions had consequences.
Felix: messed with his cousin's friends and got them akumatized, tried to kiss Ladybug, stole the dog miraculous, bargained with his uncle for the peacock miraculous and practically doomed paris, kidnapped Kagami to London
Thomas Astruc: but he was abused! And he did good in the end [in a speedrun] so it's okay!
So I just remember the time ta called Chloe fans abuse apologist and wow he is a massive hypocrite given how he you know excuses an emotionally (and abusive given Chat blanc) father
(The post this anon is referring to)
Considering how the show doesn't want to even point out that Gabriel might be kind of a dick, I doubt any of the writers even consider him to be an abusive father.
I can't say for other people, but for me, it's hard to be all, "Oh! They are queer!" I was mildly surprised to learn Ms. Bustier had a girlfriend, like, "Oh, okay. So she has a girlfriend." Not much to think about, just a nice tidbit into her life—which is one of the only glimpses we got, other than, "She's a nice teacher."
ZOÉ THO.
I was actually pissed. Not because she was LGBTQ, but because it felt like another excuse to make another person in love with Marinette. We already have Adrien, Luka (Nathaniel & Nino, albeit formerly), even that damn sculptor! And now Zoé is part of the bandwagon!
Like, BLEGH! I already get it, Marinette is so treasured and lovable and she should be worshipped by everyone in the show, and anyone who says otherwise—*cough* Chloé *cough*—should be razed and burned.
Also, maybe show more attention to the other possible/maybe confirmed (no idea) pairings, and show their growing romance (PDAs are possible, just not crazy ones).
I'm not gonna lie, while I do think Miss. Bustier and her girlfriend Giselle (from Collusion) are cute, I still have problems with it for two reasons:
1. It feels like a mega slap in the face to those who wanted LGBTQ rep in the show for the longest time with other characters such as Marc or Rose, only to have them either water down or give out subtle but barely any hints if they were queer or not.
2. Why Bustier of all people? Okay, she’s a nice teacher. So? Nice doesn't mean shit. Hell, being gay/trans/queer doesn't mean shit either if you aren't gonna do shit about it. So why did they make Bustier of all people Sapphic? Hell, why did they make both Bustier and Zoe Sapphic of all characters? So the audience can root or side with them when Chloe shits on them? Is that it? No hun, it doesn't work that way.
In conclusion, while it's great to finally see some sapphic/queer rep from the show as well as some interracial same sex relationships rep, I hate how it was only done to Bustier/Zoe because once again:
Chloe = Irredeemable
To be honest, I never got the whole "Ms. Bustier and Zoe are both gay to make Chloe look worse" argument.
Yes, the revelation of their respective sexualities helps expand on their characters, but whenever Chloe attacks them, it's never based on their sexuality. We don't get any homophobic comments from Chloe like when she was racist to Marinette's uncle in "Kung Food", and the show never makes her out to be discriminatory towards the LGBT community.
I'm not saying this is a positive trait Chloe should be commended for, but unlike with her racism in "Kung Food", there's no evidence from canon to back up the idea of her being homophobic, much less use this as an excuse to villify her even further for bullying characters who happen to be gay.
PLEASE TELL ME THIS WASN'T ACTUALLY THEIR PLAN
TALKING DOESN'T DO SHIT! SQUEEZING! WATER! BLANKET!
D.I.S.T.R.A.C.T.I.O.N.
Speaking from someone who had to help someone from a panic attack, just aggressively shoving things doesn't do anything.
What I did was stick cold water [in a bottle] in their hands and make them drink (learned these tricks from Pinterest). Then, when they could speak, I tried to get them to talk about topics I knew would turn into a long debate/discussion (less effective).
Honestly the class's plan to calm someone feeling negative emotions to avoid akumatization is pretty bad
I liked the scene in 'Guiltrip' where the class talks to Juleka and try to comfort her, which drives the akuma away
...and now in s5 (not naming the episode because those titles are not memorable, what was Astruc thinking??) Juleka is having a breakdown over having to redo school next year again and we have the class screaming at her and shoving her a giant picture of cute animals..
"Damnit, Juleka! Stop having a panic attack, or I SWEAR TO GOD, I WILL KILL YOU!"
I don't think the animal picture thing happened in "Confrontation", but I get what you mean with how poorly emotional stress is handled.
It just really makes me mad, seeing how Chloé and Adrien's relationship devolved. The idea that one of the protagonists was childhood friends with one of the antagonists—note, antagonist, not villain—was such an interesting one, because I'd never seen something like that before.
In most TV shows, the petty bully character was just someone to stir the pot and to oppose the main cast, and any friends they did have were just patsies. But knowing that Adrien and Chloé had that established relationship was something I wanted to see.
If only they'd explored their relationship more. Besides learning more about their pasts, it also would've given us a look-see into how their upbringings impacted them and how their relationship came to be. I would've loved to see them have things about their friendship that made it unique, like shared secrets between them.
Plus, from a Chloé-damnation arc perspective, it would've also put some more emphasis on her downfall, because the show would've shown us the difference between the Chloé Adrien knew and the Chloé that hit the ground face-first. I also feel like it would've been a good gut-wrenching moment to really hit home just how low Chloé fell, because we would've seen her go from the friend Adrien knew to a seething hateful villain.
If Thomas Astruc really wanted that damnation arc, then he could've weaponized hers and Adrien's childhood relationship to deliver a truly painful emotional downfall, because then Adrien would've had to face the reality that the person he knew was well and truly gone.
Wasted potential aside, I never really understood the Derision episode in Season 5, where Adrien confronts Chloé for "traumatizing" Marinette and demands an apology. Chloé broke off their friendship in Banana Queen—SHE told Adrien they weren't friends anymore. So what was even the point of having Adrien tell Chloé "You're awful, you traumatized my girlfriend, apologize to her"? So Adrien can have the last word or something? You'd think he'd know better than to believe she'd actually apologize just because he said so.
When it comes to people being against Chloe getting a redemption arc one of their excuses is that Marinette/ladybug helping Chloe is bad because "it teaches kids that they should help their bullies regardless". But when was it ever said that Marinette had to be the one to help Chloe. Adrien is right there! Have him be the one to help Chloe. It'd even be a perfect excuse to give him more screentime too!
It's weird because the earlier episodes that set up the idea of Chloe turning a new leaf showed Adrien taking the most pity on her and pretty much told Marinette and Ladybug that they should trust her more (Antibug, Malediktator).
The show even set up the idea of Adrien and Chloe's friendship being tested through Adrien actually calling her out, but after a single episode ended with him giving up on actively trying to help her change, it pretty much stopped (Despair Bear). the show did nothing with their friendship in Season 3, retconned it so Chloe only saw Adrien as arm candy in Season 4, and finally had him end their friendship in Season 5 after her bullying indirectly affected him thanks to his girlfriend being traumatized by her.
In short, the show was seemingly going in the direction you suggested, anon, but then stopped halfway through Season 2 for no real reason.
Literally makes no sense. How could LADYBUG convince FELIX to trust humans. I heard that Felix learned of Ladybug's identity: Marinette, a happy girl who had no struggles in her life growing up (Derision don't count nor is it enough) and had a great support system. AS IF he'd listen to her!
And if he DIDN'T know Ladybug's identity, that would be even worse. It basically makes her a stranger who has been getting in his way.
"oH, BuT sHe HeLpEd HiM!" BS. Their partnership would be tenuous at most, brittle at best.
If anything, the ones who would've had even a CENTIMETER of convincing Felix would be Adrien and Kagami, because:
1. They can relate to him as senti-kids who were dealt a bad hand.
2. The 2 have a relationship/history with him, so their words would have more weight.
Hell, even CHLOE would have a better shot than Marinette! At least SHE knows him and knows what it's like to be dealt a horrible hand.
Apparently someone asked Astruc why is Felix in the team at the end of Season 5, and Astruc responded that is because Ladybug made him trust humans now. Any thoughts?
Mostly just total confusion. When and how did Ladybug make him trust humans? This is up there with Lila learning Gabriel's secret by reading Nathalie's lips in the season four final. Just an absolutely wild statement that no one is going to get from the actual text. I honestly thought Felix changed sides because of Kagami.
As someone with a legit medical condition, it seriously bothers me how much Lila is getting away with. Like, do these teachers not ask for doctor's notes? Make her fill out forms with parent signatures? With the amount of stuff she claims to have, I'm surprised none of these teachers have been in contact with her parents or doctors to verify any of it!
When I got diagnosed, I had to fill out so many forms and privately talk with a lot of my teachers so that they could know to help out if something happened. I even had to have a one-one-one meeting with my doctor so she could write (and sign!) a letter with her recommendations.
Another thing: I say "helping out" because that's all I would need. An extension on homework or extra time on a test is all I would need if the something happens to me. I, nor anyone else I know with similar conditions, needs the amount of attention that Lila claims to need.
Sure, Lila could be faking these doctors notes and forging signatures, but that's a crime.
I suppose it's possible for Lila to be forging a bunch of doctor's notes, but you make a good point about how easily teachers like Ms. Bustier believe her medical conditions.
Anyone else been thinking about how creepy Andre the ice cream man is in Miraculous Ladybug? Like, dude, why is a grown man so invested the relationships of teenagers he doesn’t know? Not to mention, the guy apparently doesn’t even have a permit to sell ice cream, so he’s probably guilty of multiple health code violations
hi I have a couple things I would like to ask
I know your feelings on fruits basket are quite negative by looking through you blog ( completely valid not judging) But I am curious as to what you did like about it? And aside from not giving Akito a redemption arc what else would you have liked to see changed?
Concerning miraculous what are your thoughts on ships like the love square ,lukanette, kagaminette, adrinino, lukadrien and alyanette?
And if you could make any changes to that show what would they be?
Side note you are absolutely right about Andre the ice-cream man he is insanely creepy, he is a grown adult and yet he acts like a bratty kid throwing a tantrum when things don't go his way. Such an unnecessary character.
Thank you for reading.
When I watched Fruits Basket as a teenager, I really liked the found family aspect of the show, and seeing how Tohru bonded with Yuki and Kyo. Things went to shit when it steadily became clear that Tohru was going to become the Sohma family’s therapist, and that instead of going to therapy, or addressing any of the issues that the main characters had, they all magically got better after a couple of pep talks from her. I also hated the fact that all of the characters were paired up, usually with other members of their own family, as it left no room to the imagination for shipping. The heavy levels of incest within the family are disgusting as is, but the story of Tohru’s parents was somehow even worse. Why is almost every parent in Fruits Basket horrible? The fuck kind of parents would kick their fifteen year old daughter out into the arms of a grown man who claimed to want to marry her? And the worst part is, we’re expected to think that this inappropriate relationship between a fifteen year old and a grown man in his late twenties is not only acceptable, but also romantic, and it’s treated like ‘true love’. NO. Katsuya Honda was a CHILD RAPIST. Statutory rape is still rape. The entire show deserves to be shoved into a trash compactor. Nothing can save it. Nothing can redeem it. Nothing.
As for miraculous, I hate the love square because I hate the way Marinette treats Adrien, and I hate the fact that Adrien is reduced to being her emotional support pet. Adrien’s ‘nice guy’ behaviour when he’s Chat Noir is also disgusting. To be honest, I don’t really like any of the main ships, or anything involving Alya and Nino. None of them interest me, and none of them have any meaningful development or impact. It frustrates me because the show started out with so much potential, but it’s now gone to shit. Chloe deserved a redemption arc, Zoe shouldn’t exist, Marinette should be less of a Mary Sue, and Adrien should be his own dang person, and not reduced to Marinette’s sidekick/emotional support pet.
Man this went on longer than I anticipated but I hope that answers your questions lol
You know I feel generally conflicted about Chloe's character I don't like her at all and I don't think her redemption arc was as amazing as some people claim. On the other hand Thomas Astruc is very weird about her character and for a show that he claims to be some feminist master piece he really acts like mean teenage girls are the devil and irredeemable but grown ass men like Gabriel and Andre Bourgeois deserve to be forgiven and glorified for their horrible actions just very odd all-round.
Also take this with a grain of salt but I remember reading somewhere that apparently one time Astruc compared Chloe to Donald Trump deeply unserious man.
Y’know, Miraculous Ladybug claims to be feminist when it really isn’t, and I think that it’s because Thomas Astruc, for some reason or another, cannot stand the idea of anyone liking and/or sympathising with Chloe. His hatred of his own character, and anyone who likes or supports her is pretty fucking disturbing, and it’s clear that he enjoys making her suffer, and insulting anyone who likes her by comparing her to Donald Trump. Her ‘redemption’ arc in season two was a mess because Jeremy Zag wanted to redeem her, but nope, middle school bullies are irredeemable in Astruc’s eyes, so any hope of a redemption for her was conveniently tossed out of the window.
What ultimately sickens me is that a bratty middle schooler who is the product of her terrible upbringing gets the ultimate hate sink, while we’re expected to sympathise with, and ultimately forgive, a literal magical terrorist, and the father who enabled and spoiled his daughter beyond all reason. NO. I’m done with this show. Done.
For fucks sake, I thought we were over this already. STOP. Chloe has been punished enough. Nobody wants another Chloe torture episode. NOBODY.
SEASON 6 SPOILERS BELOW... AGAIN.
And there goes what little solace I got from the end of "Revolution".
