Mother Gothel - Tumblr Posts
Oop sorry for getting all personal last post ahahđ anyways whos ur favorite bad cartoon parental figure(s)

today on the most relatable perfect girl ever written:
Not but I donât think Iâll ever be over the way they wrote Mother Gothelâs manipulation . The way itâs woven into everything she does. The way you can tell by watching her with Repunzel that this is years and years and layers and layers of manipulation. This is a whole little world Gothel had built around her and Repunzel with nobody to stop her. The way itâs apparent from the first scene. The way she insults repunzel and puts her down and tries to work on her self esteem but hides its behind âoh Iâm just teasing. Donât be so sensitive.â The way Mother Knows Best is a masterclass in narcissistic manipulation. The way she gaslights Repunzel by calling the floating lights âstarsâ even though Repunzel is smart enough to figure out thatâs not what they are. The way Gothel has to have all the power, even in small ways like her having a door and Repunzel having a curtain. The way even their little game of âI love youâ is a narcissistic play for power because Gothelâs line is always âI love you mostâ because sheâs SUCH a good mother, you see. Sheâs sacrificed SO MUCH. Sheâs basically a martyr. She takes SUCH good care of Repunzel. Nobody could EVER love as much as her.
The way Gothel and Repunzel have an âargumentâ which is actually just Repunzel having a reasonable request and Gothel giving a whole big manipulative spiel followed by a harsh rebuff. Then she immediately leaves, which is also another play for power. She controls when she and Repunzel can have a conversation and theyâre not having it right now. She comes back a tries to pretend it never happened, except it did and they both know it, so Gothel is like âoh Iâm making your favorite soup! Isnât it wonderful? Doesnât it make up for the fact Iâve ruined your whole life and I told you you can NEVER EVER have a life outside the toxic bubble Iâve created for us? Why would you ever want to leave??â Which is exactly how abusive relationships work, the way they offer the bare minimum and act like its might as well be a gift from God. And the worst part is, many people who are abused take it and DO feel like it really is a special thing because theyâre not used to getting even the bare minimum. Another really good detail too is the after Gothelâs blow up (ânow IâM the bad guy. Oh poor meâ) Repunzel DOES want to drop the subject so she tells Gothel she just wants paint instead and calls the floating lights âstars,â thus making a subtle concession and making Gothel feel like sheâs won, which Iâm sure exactly how all their âarugumentsâ in the past have ended: with Repunzel having yield and Gothel making sure sheâs knows sheâs the one in control. Overall itâs just so well written and one of the best representations of real manipulations that Iâve seen
Why Mother Gothel Should've Been Dark Blonde - an essay, a rant, an obsessive think piece (Part 1)

Part 1 - a solution to the Antisemitism in her design, and a quick point on the believability of gothel as rap's biological mother. -------------------------- So, first, whenever we talk about Mrs.Gaslight gatekeep girlboss, we have to address the strong antsemetic overtones of her design. Most of us are already aware of this however I'll go over it briefly in case you weren't aware. Although gothel does not have any canonical ties to being jewish, or any kind of other minority, she does set off some red flags with her design, examples being the thick curly black hair and hooked nose. These traits are of course beautiful, but having these traits ONLY appear on the baby-stealing greedy youth obsessed witch of the film... is not a great look. And if you weren't aware of this already, you might be thinking "But op, that's just what witches look like!" LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER The original stock design of a "witch" is antisemetic in nature, because it specifically draws upon antisemetic caricatures of jewish women. These drawings (along with the connotations of the witch) were used to villainize physical characteristics of traditionally Jewish looking women. Other them. And make the public perception of them so low that when atrocities were directed at them, the non jewish population would look away. This also goes for the witch imagery of a pointed hat but we don't need to get into that for the purposes of this conversation. So! with the established understanding that her current design (although beautiful to us) is an issue, I have a design change proposal! Mother Gothel Should've been Blonde. Hold your shock because I have actually so many reasons and I need you to lock in so we don't get lost. First! It would alleviate the issue of antisemitism. Dark Blonde is not one of the hair colors typically associated with antiemetic imagery (just black and red are). Even if we keep the hair curly, and even if we keep her nose, the blonde may throw off the pattern just enough to make it work. Second, although the canon reason rapunzel doesn't question that her and gothel are related is because she's isolated, and has no reason to *not* beleive her. Possibly because she may or may not understand how biology works. It is still in the back of OUR heads that, hey, they don't look anything alike! how is she getting away with this? Dark blonde would fix that issue too, because then the two would have at least one similar physical characteristic (besides being white but everybody in the damn movie is white so that basically doesn't count if we need a storytelling tool) The other reasons are the more complicated and plot-important ones so their gonna get their own posts.
Why Mother Gothel Should've Been Dark Blonde - an essay, a rant, an obsessive think piece (Part 2)

Part 2 - White people hair colorism and how they could fit in with gothel's self esteem issues, and how she would project that onto her daughter. -------------- This is where we get into how gothel being a dark blonde would add an entire new layer to an already emotionally thrilling movie. To get into it I have to explain what I mean by white people hair colorism. SO! Like with the antisemitism thing i'm sure you're already very familiar with what colorism is. And possibly what white people hair colorism is, but I'll go over it anyways for the people in the back. Colorism is originally a term for comparing poc with each other, either by white people or by poc about their own race. It works differently with every group, however generally it references a preference for lighter skin. White people hair colorism is specifically the phenomenon within white groups that the color of your natural hair is indicative to your desirability. It's not as serious of an issue as true colorism, so the term is imperfect, but the phenomenon exists nonetheless. Generally it is known that blonde is on top, and as we get darker in shades the "worse" we get. This has to due with proximity to whiteness but we could've guessed that. Red is below Black in desirability, while also being fetishized, but that's not what we need to keep in mind for this post. What the heck does this have to do with Mother Gothel? well, everything. or at least it could've been. Gothel is deeply insecure, and obsessed with youth and beauty. Both things that are associated with blonde-ness. When some girls are born bright blonde, and they grow up to have darker hair over time, it can be a huge hit on their self esteem. Their blonde hair was praised their whole life, so it makes sense. Gothel could go through a similar thing and react way over the top about her darker roots growing in. Gothel being specifically a *dark* blonde as an adult could also plant the seeds of jealousy for rapunzel, a magically glowy permanent bright blonde. The jealousy mixed with her basically worshipping her hair would make so much sense in the new context of gothel's relationship with the color. In this au where they did give her dark blonde, I could also imagine that gothel's repeated prolonged use of the healing incantation could give her almost unnatural looking highlights in her hair. This would be an interesting commentary too, on those same insecure girls who get platinum highlights to try and hold onto their platinum blonde youth. very in character for gothel imo. I'll finish this part with the issue of rapunzel's brunette strand in the back of her head. And how gothel would project and force her hair color insecurities on rapunzel. the way some emotionally abusive mothers do with whatever insecurities they may have. When rapunzel is telling the story about her brunette strand to Eugene, people effected by hair colorism felt that it subtly implied that brunette is broken, is worse, uglier somehow.

And I say yes! that is what it felt like! that's probably how she saw her brunette hair. instead of running from that, I think making gothel blonde would make it clearer that this idea was specifically implanted into rapunzel's head. To make her hate her natural hair color. to keep her from ever wanting to cut her own hair to free herself. to not bat an eye when gothel would praise her hair WAY more often than she would ever praise rapunzel herself. But clearly, that doesn't make it right. It makes it sad. Nobody deserves to carry that much shame over their natural hair for the sake of a beauty standard. Gothel is a villain, and using her own insecurities to bring down Rapunzel is just another way to control her. There will be a third (and final?) part to this because my brain swollen
Why Mother Gothel Should've Been Dark Blonde - an essay, a rant, an obsessive think piece (Part 3)

Part 3 - Deprogramming your biases, de-centering traditional beauty, symbolism and the message behind Rapunzel's happy ending. -------------------------- Keeping in mind the possibility of gothel using her dark blonde hair to reinforce her related-ness to rapunzel, while also putting emphasis on the brightness of it being beautiful and worthy of preservation just as much as it's magic. Both youth and blonde-ness rubbing off on gothel when she uses the healing incantation. Suddenly, her hair becomes a symbol of her connection to mother gothel and her time in the tower. And it makes it that much more obvious that cutting it is the only way to free her. Once she's freed, and her hair turns brown, and it's short, I could see how she may still have the remnants of conditioning in the back of her mind. She may have even felt ugly secretly. But then imagine how it all changes as she sees queen arianna come into view. and she's brunette.

Suddenly every insecurity over her own dark hair, every snide comment from gothel about brunette being unfavorable and ugly. It becomes not just about rapunzel, but about her beautiful mother. her father. Her boyfriend. Beauty stops becoming something to strive for and protect, and starts becoming the symbols of her loved ones.
Then the lock of brown hair in the back of her head retroactively becomes a piece of her true loving parents that stayed with her through everything. not something to hide and be ashamed of.
And now gothel can't villainize what rapunzel looks like naturally. or make her feel embarrassed for it. Traditional gothel-ideas of beauty don't matter anymore. Brunette is beautiful because her real parents are brunette. Short is beautiful because her boyfriend used his dying breath to cut it so that she can be free if nothing else.
Although myself and a lot of others already see this in the original movie, no blonde gothel required, I still think it would've made the point more obvious (Among other reasons the blonde could've been better). And I think that it's important that it is as obvious as humanly possible.
The long blonde hair-worship is riddled throughout society so heavily, that even fans of tangled feel brave enough to prioritize her hair over what is best for her. Reflect for just a moment, if you reacted to the hair cut scene the same way gothel did, you may have some unpacking to do.
And maybe instead of that message flying over some people's heads, blonde gothel would've been an extra nudge in that direction. With the bonus of not being antsemetic. Literally what more could you ask for!

Thank you for reading what I've carved into the walls of my enclosure btw, I know this was a lot and it got a lil less formal by the end. I got passionate ! I love this movie more than anything and I couldn't stop thinking about how perfect blonde gothel would've been
While I agree more than 100% with your Gothel post, she can't be blond "in universe" because Rapunzel is the only one with that hair colours in their entire kingdom! Blond hair is just something that can't happen in their realm. It is made with the purpose to make her stand out even more! But I think Gothel would look better with light red hair, kinda like Anna.
Sorry for the late response bestie I have executive dysfunction problems, anyways! Blonde hair being unnatural in the tangled universe is interesting, I haven't heard of that theory (or that rule? if it came from the animators) but I did look through the movie again & low and behold there wasn't a single blonde background character. In the show there are blondes, so if you count the series the concept falls apart. but I didn't count the series when making my original blonde gothel posts so we won't count them here! With the new context of no-blondes-other-than-raps. I still think blonde gothel works. It just wouldn't be "Natural". The same themes and internal character stuff can happen with gothel as an unnatural blonde (I had mentioned the possibility of the blonde being a side effect of using the healing incantation like crack for 18 years straight) and on top of that, the layer of gothel stealing something from rapunzel to make her feel not as special is also added in this tweaked version of it. The onnnnllyyyy reason red hair *might* not suit gothel is then we'd have to circle back to the antisemitism thing. As mentioned in part 1 of those posts; red hair (as beautiful as it is) has associations with fetishization and dehumanization of jewish & norse/celtic women. And the de-masculinization of the men of those races aswell. :( she'd look great with it though! unfortunately; History.

a little drawing me and my friends did of the tangled cast
you canât tell me rapunzel never tried to dye her hair
like sees that berries stain stuff
could they stain her hair

Mother Gothel from the movie "Tangled" is the epitome of the phrase "Gaslight, Gatekeep Girlboss". In this essay I will...
i was rewatching tangled and i thought that yuu and crowley r kind of similar to mother gothel and rapunzel listen to me i beg
yuu is stuck in twst , so they have essentially no way out and if they fight back, crowley gives them a sort of âoh but im doing this and im so generousâ thing yk, like mother gothel heâs saying âi do this because im so generous and i careâ literally listen to mother knows best youâll notice hereâs some lyrics in particular
âi only bathed, and changed and nursed you, go ahead and leave me, i deserve it, let me die alone hereâ crowley acting like heâs given so much to yuu, giving them a rundown dorm to live in ect ect
âon your own you wonât survive,â yuu literally having no where else to go. crowley convincing them that they canât leave nrc
and of course, âmother knows best.â after all, crowley is the head mage for a reason, heâs doing this all in your best interest. /sarc
this is more fanfic / headcanon territory but you could also headcanon that crowley just tells yuu out of context stuff about twst that makes it seem a lot scarier than it is , like say yuu tries to like go somewhere that isnât school related and takes advantage of the fact theyâve been through a lot of overblots and would in my opinion, have an understandable fear of a certain degree
with this headcanon Iâd like you to consider the âalso large bugs! men with pointy teeth and STOP! No more youâll just upset me!â line. i mean u kinda already have ppl with pointy teeth here crowley but anyway itâs a shine of light at his hypocrisy in this . Also the fact that mother gothel says it so much like crowley please
I just have to let my "brilliant" ideas be known to the public. I'm all for good fanfiction. In fact, it consumes my life. Anyway, there are some ideas for fics I have, but I feel like I don't have the writing capabilities.
So... in this series I present
"To All the Fics I'll Never Write"
Basically, where I'll periodically think of an idea for a fanfic that I'm either too unskilled or lazy to write. Feel free to write about them (wink wink hint hint)
So basically, I've always wondered what mother Gothel would do if Rapunzel just cut her hair.
So, after spending all this time in the tower, Rapunzel (being a kid at this point) grows restless from staying indoors for so long. She decides to go crazy and just cut her hair for the sake of it. Why? Because lots of little kids cut their hair by themselves for no reason.
When she cuts it Gothel feels it and goes running towards her. She sees Gothel get old. She kicks her out, and she lives on her own in the wilderness, befriending the people of the tavern. (Time skip) She meets Eugene in the woods after he tries to hide in her "makeshift" house. Blah blah blah. Things continue.
She's always wanted to see the lights but was too afraid to go by herself and didn't trust herself to make it there alone. So she threatens Eugene, and they make their way. (Then there could be a cute scene of Flynn teaching her how to style her shorter hair. Ugh!!! I love it.)
Everything goes well, they see the lights. This time the Stabbington brothers manage to kidnap Rapunzel (I need it to be more angsty). Blah blah blah she's on the brink of death.
Flynn doesn't know how to help her, so he turns himself in in exchange for the guards to help find Rapunzel. They don't believe him and throw him in jail anyway. He breaks out and finds her. Rapunzel and her parents reunite after she has the revelation while near death.
Then they live happily and reclaim the tower after Gothel's death. Periodt!

Let Down Your Hair
he is a young man, with a young, pregnant wife. they are poor, and canât afford much, so he sneaks into the witchâs garden at night to steal away the rapunzel lettuce his wife so desperately craves.
when the witch gothel catches, him she demands the child that her garden is feeding as payment.
he agrees, because thereâs nothing else he can do.
he and his wife can have more children, but not if theyâre dead. they can have more children later, when they have the means to provide for them, when theyâre older and more sure of themselves, when the prospect of being responsible for another mouth to feed isnât quite so terrifying.
his wife is still slick with blood when he wraps their daughter in an old pillowcase and brings her to the stone wall separating their land from the witchâs. âare you going to hurt her?â he asks, clutching his crying daughter to his chest.
gothel raises an eyebrow and says, âwhat a foolish question.â she pulls away from him and is gone in the next instant.
his arms feel empty, but lighter too. heâll never say this aloud, but itâs almost a relief to give the child away.
they couldnât even afford to feed themselves, never mind anyone else.
he wants to be a father. he doesnât want to be the father of a hungry child.
~
this is not the first time gothel has bargained a child away from its parents. and so she tucks the squalling little girl in bend of her elbow, and goes where she always goes.
âcaroline!â she calls out, âoh mother caroline!â
she stands in front of large house, one that has the general appearance of being many houses stacked up on top of each other, all different colors and sizes and styles. also, from the side, it does not look unlike a rather large shoe.
the door bangs open, and a small wave of children run for her, small sticky hands grasping at her dress and cloak, and gap toothed grins everywhere she turns. âhave you brought us another brother?â a girl asks, wrinkling her nose. âi have too many brothers.â
the boys turn to her, glaring, but the girl is unrepentant. sheâs the only girl in among the younger kids, and is quite cross about it.
then the older kids surround gothel, the ones that had had the patience not to go chasing after her at a sprint. the teenagers like to pretend like they donât care, but she has many eager and impatient eyes on her, lots of twitching fingers eager to take the baby away from her. thatâs fine by gothel â sheâs eager to be rid of the blasted thing.
âthatâs enough!â a powerful, creaky voice shouts. âthatâs quite enough of that! make room, make room, let me through!â
the crowd of children part for mother caroline. like gothel, caroline has dark skin and black hair, a strong, wide nose and plump lips. but while gothel appears to be a woman in the prime of her youth, caroline is an old woman. her back is straight and strong, and there is strength in the width of her waist. but her dark hair is streaked with silver, and her skin has started to bend to the will of time and gravity, causing delicate wrinkles to frame her face. âlittle sister,â gothel greets, âyouâve gotten older.â
caroline shoots her an irritated glance, âwhile you havenât changed at all.â
âyou could have became a witch like me,â gothel says, not for the first time, âyou were always quite good with physical magic. then neither of us would age at all!â
âchange is inevitable,â caroline says with the type of finality that makes gothelâs skin crawl. âlet me see the child.â
the children crowd impossibly closer as gothel hands the baby over, red faced and new. caroline cradles the babe against her chest, then stills, her lips pulling down at the corners. âwhatâs wrong?â gothel demands, peering down at the baby anxiously.
she looks like any other baby gothel has seen. her face is squished oddly and her eyes are a watery blue. she has ten fingers and ten toes â gothel checked! â and she was crying when her father handed her over, but sheâs quiet now.
âi canât take this child,â caroline says.

I agree

The Disney Villainess collection by Hayden Williams: Mother Gothel
Ok guys so here me out- tangled au but with muddler as repunzel? My brain has been on brain rot mode with this concept and I have it all planned out and it would also have just a touch of âšpolyamorus shippingâš in it-
Muddler= rapunzel
Joxter and fuzzy= both Flynn Ryder
The hemulen aunt= mother gothel,
The inspector= the horse that ends up joining Flynn and rapunzel (does that horse have an actual name...? Itâs slipping my mind currently)
Stinky: they guy that originally helped Flynn(fuzzy and joxter) steal the crown in the beginning before working with âmother gothelâ
The king= hodgkins
(Muddlers parents where the original queen and king but they where killed in the process of muddlers kidnapping as a baby so thatâs why hodgkins is the king but regardless he hopes for his lost nephew to return some day)
Any ways my point is if any one can find a Google doc or drive of the entire Disneyâs tangled script? Please send it my way so I can re-write and change some things to make it fit this au- then I can post a fic when Iâm done! Also Iâm planning on re-drawing some scenes!

Education
There are three schools on the isle, Dragon Hall, Serpent Prep and Crow Academy (Witch School). However, there is a lack of education on the Isle, classes focus on how to be evil instead of things like English, Math and Science. This means that most people can only do basic math and reading. Even children whose parents do know how to do math or read properly aren't likely to teach their kids that, as they will prioritize survival skills.
Books are rare on the Isle, those that come on the barges are either to damaged to read or are taken to Dr Facilier's Library. Having books is a sign of power.
Originally Dragon Hall was the only school but as more children were born Serpent Prep and Crow Academy were opened. Not all children attend school some are homeschooled, and some simply don't go to school at all. If you attend school you are expected to turn up late, and not partake in lessons.
By the time children are 9-10 they are expected to be in some manner of employment by or for their families, the age children are put to work varies between households, by the time they are teenagers they are given harder more demanding jobs or are made to do the backbreaking physical labor that the adults don't want to do.
It isn't required to go to school, but there isn't actually that much to do so the kids go anyway to learn about scheming, fighting and general wickedness. Detention and punishments are given out for things like helping someone pick up their books etc.
Skipping class happens often though the teachers don't make it easy for the kids, Bill Sykes has provided the school with several vicious dogs around campus. Fighting happens often and is encouraged by the teachers as way of solving arguments. There is also a lot of gang activity that happens, properly more so than anywhere else.

cw: tangled au! reader wears a dress and has VERY long hair, geto as flynn ryder, reader as rapunzel featuring: geto suguru 1 | 2 |
a/n: hello!! i'm so glad you guys liked the first part, i did make some very little changes to it after it was posted, but here's the second one lmk how it is!! <33
tags: @cofijelli (lmk if you want to be tagged in future parts)

you come out from hiding behind a mannequin and clutch the frying pan to your chest.
the strange man's eyes flutter open, and you knock him out with the pan again. you look over to your chameleon, pascal, and he gestures to check for sharp teeth, as your mother was telling you all outside people have them.
you use the handle and lift his upper lip, not seeing any teeth. feeling a bit relieved, and hit him once more with the pan for good measures.
'what is mother gonna say? oh god, what do i do?' you think to yourself. 'no, this is good. i can prove myself. i am strong enough to leave.'
you head back towards the unconscious man and, using all your strength, you haul his body into a nearby closet, and block it with a chair.
you notice a crown has fallen out of the satchel, and head toward the mirror to try it on. you put it around your wrist like a bracelet, receiving a look of disapproval from pascal, and then put it on your head, earning you another.
you open the satchel and find a 'wanted' poster of the criminal in your closet. 'suguru geto, wanted dead or alive.'
"(y/n)! let down your hair!" you hear.
"coming!"
you shove the crown and poster into a satchel, and then into a nearby pot.
after helping your mother into the tower, she says,
"i have the biggest surprise for you, dear!"
"i do too.." you chuckle nervously.
"ooh, i bet mine is bigger. i'm making hazelnut soup for dinner, your favourite! surprise!"
"well.. mother. i've been thinking about what you said earlier.."
"i hope you're not still talking about the stars," she says.
"floating lights," you correct, "and yes i'm leading up to it.."
"because i really thought we'd dropped this conversation."
"i know you think i'm not strong enough to handle myself out there.." you start.
"ohh, i know you're not strong enough to handle yourself out there." she cuts you off.
"but if you'd just-"
"(y/n)."
"just listen.."
"(y/n).." she growls, feeling more agitated.
"just look, mother-"
"enough, (y/n)! you are never leaving this tower! ever!" she shouts, eyes crazed and wild.
slowly, you take your hand off of the chair blocking the closet and look at the painting you made of the 'stars'. with tears welling up in your eyes, you say,
"i know what i want for my birthday now.."
"and what is that?" she questions, pinching her nose bridge.
"new paint, the kind made from the shells you once brought me.." you say.
"(y/n), that would be a three-day trip," she responds.
"i just thought it would be a better idea than.. the stars." you sigh.
"okay.. i'll go get them."
.ă»ă.ă»ăâă».
"are you sure you'll be alright." your mother asks, packing food into a basket for herself.
"i know i'm safe as long as i'm here," you respond, hugging her as she places a kiss on your head.
"alright, i'll see you in three days," she states, lowering herself using your hair.
.ă»ă.ă»ăâă».

suguru wakes up tied to a chair, hair all around him, and a chameleon sticking its tongue in his ear.
"what the hell?!" he shouts out, rubbing his ear with his shoulder, trying to remove the uncomfortable feeling.
"i'm not afraid of you.." you call out from the shadows, using your hair to swing yourself down from the ledge you were previously standing on.
"...huh?" he mumbles, shocked and confused by the amount of hair you have. "what..?"
"..how did you find me, suguru geto..?' you question, slowly raising your frying pan.
"uh- yeah, uhm. suguru's fine. anyway, it's really not that deep girlie-"
"(y/n)." you interrupt.
"yeah- i was running away from guards, saw a tower climbed it, and.." he pauses. "where's my satchel?" he asks frantically, throwing an accusing look your way.
"i've hidden it, somewhere you'll never find it." you say, crossing your arms with a proud look on your face.
"it's in that pot, isn't it," he states.
*CLANG*
fwip
"would you stop that!" he shouts, rubbing his ear with his shoulder again.
"now, i've hidden it somewhere you'll never find it." you start, "so what do you want with my hair, to cut it?"
"huh?
"sell it?"
"no?? look, the only thing i want is it to get out of your hair. literally!"
"you- wh-" you stammer, "you're telling the truth?"
"yes! i saw a tower, i climbed it. the end."
turning away, you hold pascal in your hand a communicate with him.
"i know, i need someone to take me."
"this could be my only chance." you explain to the chameleon.
coming to a conclusion, you begin, "okay suguru geto, let's make a deal."
"a deal?" he asks, giving you a judgmental look.
"yes. a deal. look here." you start, turning him to look at your painting of the lights.
"do you know what these are?' you question.
"the lantern thing they do for the lost princess?"
'i knew they weren't stars' you think.
"yes, tomorrow night, they'll float in the sky. you will take me to see them, return me home safely, and only then will you get your precious satchel. that is my proposal." you explain.
"yeah, uh, no. the city and my aren't really 'best friends' at the moment, so no. i'm not taking you anywhere." he says, trying to free himself from the hair prison.
"then you can say 'bye' to your satchel." you retort, tightening the hair on his wrists, halting further movement.
"bye then." he says, calling your bluff.
"something brought you here. call it what you will. fate, destiny-"
"a horse."
"so i have decided to trust you." you continue.
"a garbage decision at that."
"but trust me when i tell you this, you can tear this tower apart brick by brick. but without my help, you will never see your dear satchel again." you threaten, pulling the chair so he's at eye-level with you.
"i take you to see the lantern, bring you back, and you promise to let me go?" he inquires.
"i promise."
"??" he gives you a look that tells you he isn't quite convinced.
"and i never break my promises.. ever," you add.
"fine. we'll go." he sighs, giving in.
"really??" you gleam, letting go of the chair and dropping suguru on his face.
"ow."
