The moon hung low in the night sky as you ran in the opposite direction of your house. Well, your brother’s house. You had never considered it a home the moment things took a drastic turn after your parent’s death. A home is a place where one feels safe and secure but this is… this was no home.
You had no sense of direction as you blasted through thick foliage and wet mud. The sky was dark and thunder boomed when you left but now it was pouring. Drenched from head to toe, you felt your anxiety rise as the sky darkened and your lungs collapsed. You paused at the foot of a tree, bending down to catch your breath. You had no idea where you were going. All you knew was that you needed to run.
Run. Run. Run or they will catch you again.
The air was still with your heavy breathing and loud splatters of rain when you heard rustling sounds. Suddenly blinded by the onslaught of light, you made out the rough shape of your bulky brother. Fearing for your life, you quickly stumbled up and ran again. You didn’t dare look back but you dared to look up.
The moon was shining bright tonight, despite the darkness that was chasing you. It casted an ethereal glow over the dense forest and if you tilted your head just right, you could see little rainbows in the making. You ran through the trees, heart pounding against your chest. You didn’t know how far or how close you were to your brother and his gang. At the same time, you didn’t know where the fuck you were. You could just imagine being eaten up by some sort of nocturnal animal in here.
“BITCH! Come back here! Who said you could run away, huh?”
You tried to pump your legs harder - to give you more strength. But you found yourself short of any sort of energy. You didn’t have dinner and it was during your break did you sneak past the back door and run away from them, hastily slipping on your clothes for some decency. You carried nothing with you - just you, underwear, and clothes - which is essentially whatever you were wearing.
“Ey! I swear you’re going to get it from me when we catch you! FUCK, you’re done!”
The sound of your own harsh breathing drowned out the haunting echoes of your abusive brother’s threats. For years, you endured his cruelty, but tonight - tonight you had enough. He sold your body. Sold your body to his friends. You had sobbed and begged with every last shred of dignity you had but they never listened. You didn’t know where you were going but you knew you couldn’t stay there any longer.
You stumbled through the woods on clumsy feet, the darkness of the foliage seemed to close in around you. You tried to keep your anxiety at bay, knowing it would do you more harm than good if you started to panic. Branches clawed at the exposed skin of your feet, the ground beneath the flimsy slippers you hastily wore was uneven and treacherous the deeper you went. Fear gnawed at your insides and despair threatened to overtake you. Breathing harshly, you tried to keep yourself calm.
Just as you thought that all hope was lost and you would have to be running forever or be caught, your attention focused on the soft glow of light emitting from a cottage house. Without thinking, you ran towards it and pulled against the handle, trying every one until you found an open door and slammed it shut behind you.
Sliding onto the floor, you placed your head between your legs, breathing through your mouth. You were tired and bruised. You heard before you saw someone stand in front of you, shadow covering half of your hunched over body. Your breath caught as you slowly took in the sight before you. You were the centre of their attention, their eyes reflecting the silver light of the moon. You were sure you weren’t breathing. THese were the folklore of your little village - stories passed down by the elders from generation to generation.
Werewolves.
Nobody believed that there were such mystical beings living amongst you. But you were certain that they were exactly what you believed. These seven men that surrounded you brought around them an aura of power and grace.
You could easily tell by the tall and commanding figure to your left that that was the leader of the pack. He stepped forward, gait slow and steady, approaching you as if you were a scared prey. But you were quite the opposite. As you looked at each of them, they surveyed you quietly. Looking at each of them in their eyes, you felt a connection deep in your blood - a spark of recognition of what belongs.
“Are you in danger?” he asked, voice low and soothing.
You nodded, voice trembling as you replied, “My - my brother, he and his friends, they - they -”
The door was suddenly banged open as you stumbled into the man’s hold. You felt a sense of protection and comfort you had never known when you were with them. They surrounded you again, this time, as a protection barrier between you and your brother.
You curled deeper into yourself.
Without hesitation, a man grabbed your cheeks and forced you to look at his smiling eyes. “Hey! My name is Jimin! What’s yours?”
“Y/N, come here now.” Your brother commanded. Shivering in your spot against Jimin’s body, you shook your head and rejected him. You didn’t want to.
“Come here now or you will regret it.” You shook your head. You didn’t want to go back to the life you once had. If it was considered life.
“Come here and I won’t kill these ‘men’. They are vicious monsters, you know that.”
Your head turned when you heard your name being called. “You are safe here. We won’t let anyone hurt you now.” You nodded and turned away from your brother, clinging onto Jimin’s shirt tightly.
“It’s funny how you claim to care for your sister when you sold her off. It is funny how you think you would be able to hurt us.” The man with cat-like eyes formed into slits. He certainly looked more like a cat than a wolf.
“HAH!” Your brother laughed maniacally. “You are a bunch of monsters. Werewolves? Ridiculous! You are not wolves nor are you humans. Monsters is an appropriate word to use for paws.”
“Shall we let her choose then?” The man with a fluffy head of hair said.
The silence that followed was deafening. The tension in the air was at its peak and both sides were ready for an attack.
“Come now, Y/N. Let’s go home, I’ll get you some ice cream if you cooperate now.” Your brother held his hand out, palm facing up - placating. He didn’t want to lose his face in front of his friends and males who didn’t even know you.
But you refused. Your head went to Jimin’s neck as you stood up, trying to hook a leg onto his waist.
Keyword: trying.
You were just too short for him.
The man with fluffy hair chuckled lowly at your attempts. Quickly hooking a hand under your thighs, he lifted you up onto Jimin’s hip. As he left, going back to his spot, your hand shot out to hold him in place, accidentally pulling against his hair instead. Your hand quickly retracted and your head shot up.
“I -”
He was quick to soothe you, one hand patting your thigh in a soothing rhythm while the other went to your untamed hair, softly stroking the back of your head.
“Hey, hey. It’s okay, okay? You can do whatever you want with me.” You hesitantly pulled against the sleeve of his shirt.
“Stay? Please?”
He nodded. “Of course, darling. I wouldn’t dare go anywhere.”
The rest of the males reformed themselves to ensure that the three of you in the centre were protected.
“I think it is clear what her choice is. Now leave.” The pack leader commanded, voice strong with power. You saw your brother’s friend pull him along.
“Fine! Die with these mutts around you, whore!”
The cat-wolf lunged for your brother when the pack leader pulled him back.
The males remained in the formation only when they were certain your brother was far enough and they couldn’t smell him from the distance anymore. Only then did they relax their posture, slowly turning towards you with worried eyes. You were no longer shaking in Jimin and the fluffy hair’s hold but your scent was still sour with fear.
They cautiously moved up the stairs to the living room where they sat down at the sofa. You turned your head to look at them. All seven males were foreign to you - as foreign as the way they made you feel safe and protected.
“Should we… say names?” The man with a whole sleeve of tattoos asked, eyes big and filled with curiosity - just like a bunny’s, you thought.
“I’m Namjoon.” The pack leader started.
“Yoongi.” You finally had a name for the cat-wolf.
“Taehyung.” The fluffy head of hair appeared into your view again. “But I give you special permission to call me TaeTae!”
You nodded.
“I’m Seokjin but just Jin is okay, yeah?”
“Me! Me!” The bunny man hopped up. “I’m Jungkookie!”
“You can call me Hobi!”
Oh that man was filled with sunshine, you could clearly see.
“And I’m Jimin but you already know that, little one.”
You nodded.
“Would you like to ask us anything?”
You shook your head then nodded again, pointing to Yoongi. “Cat-wolf. Cat. Meow-Meow.”
Jungkook burst out laughing from your left, igniting a round of laughter that filled the room and lifted the heavy atmosphere.
“For you, you can call me whatever you want, darling.” Yoongi smiled, gums out as he looked at you with adoration.
In that moment, you felt their strength and loyalty, their offering to you of a sanctuary - a refuge from the darkness you fought so hard from. From those that have haunted your life for so long.
As time passed, you became part of their pack - a human amongst werewolves. They were patient in teaching you their traditions and customs, their code of honour and their ways. You learned that they were the protectors of the forest, guardians of the vulnerable, and that they are the core value of the balance of nature itself.
Namjoon, with his kind eyes and strong presence, quickly became a source of your strength and guidance for you. His knowledge and wisdom never failed to keep you entertained. Although clumsy, this man was the foundation of his pack.
Seokjin, with his unseriousness and constant care, he helped heal the wounds that your brother and his friends had inflicted upon you. He kept you steady as you grew, always ensuring to pull you up when you got down but bringing you down when you were too high up.
Yoongi, the car-wolf, with his gentle hands and calm nature became another one of your rocks. He never failed to teach you something new that day and he most certainly cooked one of the best foods you have ever tasted - rivalling Seokjin’s.
Hobi, with his everlasting laughter and sunshine, was an easy person to be around as you healed from your wounds. He never fails to make you laugh. With him around, there was never a dull moment.
Jimin, with his soft and calming nature, he unintentionally healed both your emotional and mental wounds. While Seokjin cared for your physical wounds, Jimin was always a talking buddy that helped you through understanding yourself and your worth.
TaeTae, with his outgoing mischievous nature, the both of you were constantly creating something to be cleaned up. Hand-in-hand with Jungkookie, the three of you liked to run out and about, being everywhere.
Jungkookie, with his curiosity and strength, the both of you were always causing mischief for the others. Like partners-in-crime, the both of you would be curious about everything and anything, so the both of you would always take it upon yourselves to figure out the answers.
But you have also come to realise that the entire pack was more than just a pack - they were a family. Each of them had their own unique qualities and were a force to be reckoned with. Today was a full moon and under the light of the glowing orb, you discovered a love and acceptance that you had never known. Your past, with all its pain and suffering, seems to fade into the background when you are with them. Embracing the new chapter of your life, you ran forward with them, putting your full trust in the seven males you had learned to understand.
With your heart and spirit soaring, you felt the exhilaration of the transformation, the wind against your fur, and the pure joy of being truly free. In these moments, you knew you had found your place - a home amongst those who have shown you the power of love, trust, and transformation.
As you looked up the the moon, you couldn’t help but feel a huge wave of gratitude. The moon led you here today - to the sanctuary - a place where you were no longer a victim but a survivor; that you were no longer alone but in a place filled with love and acceptance.
As you howled at the moon and cuddled amongst your pack, you came to realise that sometimes, safety and love are found in the most unexpected places. For instance, in a moonlit sanctuary of a werewolf pack that had become your everlasting family.

Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5 - Part 6 - Part 7 (Complete)
*************************************************
The night was freezing cold. I remembered rubbing my hands to generate some heat while I walked down the road. I was coming back to my home from my best friend, Nina’s house. It was already past midnight and though she insisted me to stay at her place for the night, I still refused. Walking through the chilly night, I was regretting that decision.
There was some shouting coming from a group of boys in the middle of the road. They looked too drunk to even understand what they were doing. I got closer, being annoyed and worried at the same time that they might run into some accidents.
"Yoongi, you little freak!" One of them shouted.
I froze. It was no other than the boy named Jungkook from my class with his pack of boys he called his hyungs. The group who called themselves "Bangtan Boys". The boys who had been bullying me for the past 8 years for fun.
"Look who's here to keep us company?" Jin, the oldest of them shouted. It was too late. They'd already seen me.
Jin came toward me, putted one of his hands around my neck and leaned on me, "Why? It's our wife, Leah."
I was standing stiff on my place. But his whole body mass seemed to work against mine and my legs gave up. I was being pushed towards the group.
The laughter from the boys were still ringing on my ears when I noticed the speedy car, honking its horn, coming towards us. I had to think fast. They were too drunk to make it to the side of the road. I made the decision.
I pushed two of the boys standing in front of me with all of my might causing them to push the ones in front of them. I saw some of them tripped and fell.
And then, I was hit.
*************************************************
The boys were all standing still, too shocked to react. The car that hit Leah was a bit further. A man on his 40’s got down from it. He was talking on his phone frantically and swearing occasionally.
Taehyung quietly walked toward Leah and sat down beside her, “Leah,” he called, hoping against hope that she was fine, that it was all just a prank she was playing to get back at them. But Leah laid motionless.
Taehyung hold her head up and took it on his lap. Then he noticed the blood on his hands. “Shit” he swore too loudly to make the others come to their senses.
“Is she…” Jimin’s voice cracked. He couldn’t finish the sentence.
Jin sat down beside Taehyung. He touched her side of the neck to feel the pulse, “She’s alive. I can feel her pulse.” A sigh of relief left from some of the boys.
“But” Taehyung stammered to form the right words, “the blood… I…she…too much…what if…” he broke down, crying. Jin took Leah’s head on his lap while Jimin embraced Taehyung, trying to calm him down.
A siren was heard. Everything happened in a blur. Leah was carried to the ambulance. There were people checking on the boys if they were hurt. The police man was interrogating them about the accident. Taehyung kept crying despite everyone reassuring him that it was going to be okay.
But above all, the guilt they were all feeling deep inside was something very new to the boys.

Red Hope! - Part 5
Specially requested by @lelewright1234. Hope you enjoy!
Note: This work is totally fictional and has nothing to do with BTS on real life. I mean no hate toward any person in particular. This plotline was requested. Though I personally hate bullies, I still believe there is hope for everyone.
Fandom: BTS Pairing: OT7 × OC (Leah) Warning: Bullies, allergy attack, OC suffering from amnesia, flashbacks etc. Genre: Fluff and Angst Summary: The boys plan to meet Leah one at a time for her to get to know them better...
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5 - Part 6 - Part 7 (Complete)
*************************************************
The doctor had suggested me to stay in the hospital for three more days and to take rest for the whole week even when I go home. The seven boys had made a schedule to meet me one at a time throughout the week. That sounded alright to me since I wanted to know them individually and talking in a group did not allow much opportunities.
*************************************************
Day 1: Hoseok knew the steps too…
I was lying on my hospital bed. Hoseok had been sitting next to me on a chair while humming a song that sounded familiar to me. “What is this song?” I asked.
“Tightrope by Michelle Williams” he replied, “do you remember it? It was your favorite song to do ballet on.”
“It rings a bell.” I said.
He smiled at me and said, “I can’t wait to see you do ballet again.” I smiled back. I couldn’t wait to do it too. I wanted to know the feeling of dancing again.
“Oh, don’t make that face.” Hoseok pouted.
“What face?”
“That Smile-through-the-pain face. It hurts right here.” He put his hands on the left side of his chest to indicate his heart. The cute faces he was making were enough to melt my heart away and I laughed. This time it was genuine.
“Get up.” He said, “I don’t think anyone’s coming to check on you now.”
I did as he asked me to. He turned on the song I knew so well on his phone and came toward me. He took my hands in his. Then, we started to move along the music. We danced and danced. I closed my eyes to feel every beat. Hoseok didn’t need to lead me. I already knew every step of it.
The song ended. I opened my eyes and stared into his, breathing heavily. We were standing too close to hear each other’s heart beating, fast but rhythmic.
*************************************************
Day 2: Jungkook spilled the truth...
Jungkook was complaining an awful lot about how he had missed half of the day because his hyungs had made him go to the school.
“It’s okay.” I said, “We still have enough time.”
“We have time, though,” he said in an annoyed voice, “but not enough.”
I had been pondering over the fact that Jungkook had stopped going to the school since I was in a coma. That sounded like we were very close. Hesitantly I finally asked him about it.
Jungkook’s face turned red as he shook his head slowly.
“No?” I asked, “Then why would you stop going to the school?”
“Don’t you know about the accident?” he asked in a serious voice.
What could the accident had to do with it? I was told that I was hit by a car and ended up being in a coma. But nobody gave me any details about it.
“What about it?” I asked.
“It was supposed to be us.” He said, his voice sad, “me and the boys.”
“Supposed to be?” I was confused.
Jungkook explained how they had been drunk that night. If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t have ended up the way I did. Jungkook’s eyes were filling up with tears.
“Come on, Jungkookie!” I tried to cheer him up, “I must have cared for you enough to have save you like that.”
“Yes, you did.” A tear fell from his eye, “Only we didn’t do the same.”
*************************************************
Day 3: Namjoon defended the boys...
I woke up hearing a rather loud conversation in the hospital corridor. It sounded like Nina was arguing with someone. I went closer to the door and I could hear what the other parties were saying.
“I can allow some of you,” Nina was saying, “But never Jin and Yoongi. I bet they’re still planning to prank her the way they always did.”
“Nina!” It was one of the boys, but I couldn’t recognize the voice, “We’ve talked about this. I promise you, nothing’s going to happen to her. We’ve learned our lessons.”
“I don’t trust you.” Nina snapped back, “You guys are capable of anything.”
“Alright!” he sounded exhausted, “How about we talk about it later, this evening? Does that sound good?”
There was no reply from Nina. I could hear footsteps approaching my door. So, I quickly ran toward my bed, grabbed a book from the table and sat there pretending I was reading.
Namjoon opened the door and as soon as he met my eyes, his grim face broke into a smile. I smiled back at him, not knowing what to do otherwise.
“Are you done with that one?” he pointed at the book I was holding.
“Just a little bit left.” I lied, though I had already finished reading it yesterday.
“Here,” he handed me the book he bought with him, “I hope you’ll like this one.” It was ‘Me Before You’ by Jojo Moyes. I took the book and thanked him.
I didn’t want to talk to him. I was too confused about the conversation that I just overheard. Somehow, hearing Nina not being able to trust them made me question their behaviors. Why were these boys being so good to me?
To avoid Namjoon, I pretended to read my book. He seemed to have understood that I was not in a mood to talk. He patiently waited for me quietly. After an hour, when I was still not paying any attention to him, he rose up.
“I’ll get going, then. Enjoy the book while you’re still here. They’re gonna release you tomorrow. So, good luck!”
*************************************************
Day 4: Jin made a promise...
I felt really bad the whole day once Namjoon was gone. I felt bad for suspecting him. He was such a gentleman. There was no way, he would try to hurt me. I thought of taking a chance to meet the boys and get to know them by myself. I was not going to judge them just because of something I overheard.
The next day, I was released from the hospital. My mother, stepfather, Nina and Jin came to take me home. As expected, Nina was not comfortable about Jin being there. It was visible on her facial expression.
When we reached home, everyone was busy making me feel comfortable, asking me if I needed anything. I said I wanted to stay at my room if that was okay. My mother nodded.
Nina and Jin followed me to my room. It was evident that Nina was not going to let me be alone with Jin today. I did not make any complaints either.
When Jin failed to get any attention from the two of us, he announced, “Leah, do you remember that I am a great cook? Master chef actually. Just wait and see how I’m going to surprise you.” Saying that he went to the kitchen while Nina rolled her eyes.
Jin came back with two bowls of hot ramen. “Oops!” he said, “I forgot that Nina’s with us.” And then he started to giggle like an idiot which made me laugh too.
“Very funny!” Nina said in an annoyed voice. Then she bought a pair of chopstick for herself and shared the ramen with mine.
As I slurped the ramen I remembered something from the past. I had an allergic reaction from ramen in the school cafeteria. Someone had mixed MSG with my ramen.
“Was it you?” I asked Jin.
He was confused but seemed to have understood the graveness of the matter. “What is it, dear?” he asked.
“Did you ever prank me by putting MSG in my ramen?”
He was startled as if he didn’t expected me to remember that. Nina sighed but stayed silent, wanting him to explain it himself.
“I…” he hesitated, “Yeah. But I didn’t know you would have such a violent attack. It was meant to be a joke.”
“Thank you but I’m not eating that.” I pushed the bowl away from me, “Can you guys please leave? I’m tired.”
Nina nodded and walked out of my room. Jin sat there for a while, his expression unreadable. Then, he slowly walked to the door. He turned to me and said, “I’m sorry, Leah. I promise we will make it up to you.”
*************************************************
Day 5: Jimin had cuteness in his bag…
The doorbell rang. I knew it was one of the boys. I stayed in my room and heard my mother open the door. There was a few minutes of greeting. Then came a knock on my door.
“Come in” I said.
Jimin peaked his head first. “Hello!” he called with a smile. He had bought flowers again. This time it was orange tulips. He handed me those.
“Are you a florist?” I asked. In reply, Jimin just laughed.
I was still not over yesterday. I had a feeling that I had shared a somewhat bitter-sweet relationship with the boys. Nina had told me that the boys were trying their best to be better. I asked her what that meant. She just shrugged her shoulders and told me that she would let me figure it out eventually.
“Are you still mad?” Jimin asked pouting his lip. He looked too cute for me to remain mad at him.
“Jimin,” I said, “will you tell me something honestly?” Jimin sat beside me and said, “Ask away.”
“Why are you guys being so nice to me?”
“Because we care for you.” Jimin said. Before I could say anything further, he added, “I know, you might be having some doubts. But trust me, we really do.”
I felt like I could trust him. I pushed my suspicions away and said, “So tell me, what we are going to do?”
Jimin grinned, “Just wait and see what I have in my mind.”
It was true. There weren’t any fun games left that we didn’t play. Starting from painting old stuffs, we played video games, card games and board games, we even played a little hide and seek around the neighborhood. Finally at night, we watched a movie together.
Jimin really had a charm about him. It was hard not being happy around him. Unexpectedly the day went too good. Even my mother noticed that I was happy. And when I went to sleep at night, I was already missing Jimin.
*************************************************
Day 6: Taehyung made a valid point…
I waited for the next Bangtan boy to arrive. I really had fun with Jimin that I was regretting being rude with Namjoon and Jin. I told myself that these boys were probably very fun loving and made jokes without thinking about the consequences. I let Nina’s words assure me that they were trying their best to be better.
The sun had already sat when Taehyung showed up in my house. I was getting a little angry at that time.
“Why bother coming at all?” I asked him first thing once we met.
Taehyung said, “eeeh” to show me his teeth.
“What was that for?”
“I had a sudden toothache” he said, “had to see a dentist. It was really scary.” Then he started massaging his cheeks.
“Aww!” I said, “I’m so sorry, dear. Does it still hurt?” Taehyung pouted his lips and nodded.
“Since its already dark,” I continued, “wanna go sky gazing?”
“Yes! Let’s do that.”
We were lying down on our back in the backyard. There were not much stars to be seen. But staring at the empty sky was somewhat peaceful. I was thinking about how my life had turned out, how little I knew about myself and others. It was really overwhelming.
“I’m scared for the first time since I woke up.” I said to Taehyung.
Taehyung looked at me and asked, “Why are you scared of me?”
“I’m not scared of you, silly!” I chuckled, “I’m just scared about the fact that I’m all empty inside.”
“You’re not.” Taehyung’s voice suddenly sounded very serious, “You’re still the same you. It’s just the memories that’s gone.”
“But aren’t memories what make us who we are?” I asked, turning to face him.
“I don’t know. But hey! We can always make new memories.” Taehyung tried to cheer me up, “Why don’t you take it as a fresh start; a new chapter of your life?”
“A new chapter” I whispered, “at least I’m glad I have you guys.”
*************************************************
Day 7: Yoongi showed his humorous side…
“I can’t believe it’s raining at this time of the season.” Yoongi said. He was a little grumpy today. He had planned to surprise me by taking me to see the local basketball match. But due to bad weather and the fact that the match was to be played in the open, it was cancelled.
“It’s alright, Yoongi!” I put my hand on his shoulder, “take me there some other time. You should be happy that it’s raining or else Nina would have showed up.”
Yoongi gave a fake smile, “Oh yeah! Thank God that Nina is not here today.”
Since we couldn’t find anything interesting to do, we tried to solve an extremely hard puzzle, which exhausted us both. We couldn’t even find any interesting topic to talk about. We were getting bored at a point when Yoongi suggested to make a bucket list each for the next 10 years to come.
I said, “Tae told me last night that it was a new chapter of my life. Making a bucket list sound like a good place to start.”
“So without further ado, let’s get started.” Yoongi bought two pieces of papers and pens for us and we both started to write whatever came to our minds.
“Number one: Go see the Egyptian Pyramid.” I said aloud while writing.
“Number one for me would be going to the city, Barcelona” Yoongi wrote.
So we kept writing. What food we wanted to taste? What classics we wanted to read? How many pets we wanted to own? What our future home would be like? Etc. etc.
“Number 27” I said, “Experience a burning and passionate love.”
Yoongi paused to think his number 27. Then with a smirk, he said, “Help you experience a burning and passionate love.”
We both broke out into laughter. It was rather hilarious hearing a grumpy boy like Yoongi saying something so silly.

*************************************************
I confessed to my mother about getting back most of my past memories. Some of them were still blurry. But I was remembering everything eventually. I told mother I wanted to take a break from school for the day. I was still not prepared to face Jungkook or any of them.
After the school was over, both Jin and Jungkook stopped by my house. My mother told them how overwhelmed I felt as my memories came back and that I didn’t want to meet anyone just then.
I had been getting calls after calls from the boys. Some of them even texted me, asking if what my mother said were true. I neither picked up the calls nor replied to them. I had decided it was better to avoid them. I didn’t need any fake friends in my life. Nina was enough.
But I knew, deep inside, I was hurting. It pained me to even think about not talking to the boys anymore. All I knew for the past few months were the boys. They had been in everything I was doing. Without them, I wouldn’t even be able to recover as fast as I did.
I stayed in my room the whole day and cried. I felt like I was broken into pieces and I would never be able to put them together. Every beautiful experience I had with the boys felt like a lie.
Since Taehyung kept calling me non-stop, I thought it would be better to let them know how I felt about them now.
*************************************************
Taehyung: Finally you’ve answered. What happened, Leah? Are you okay?
Leah: I’ll get straight to the point, Taehyung. It’s true that I’ve got my memories back.
*A pause*
Taehyung: So, you remember everything?
Leah: Everything.
Taehyung: Are you mad at us?
Leah: What do you think, Taehyung? Should I?
Taehyung: Listen, Leah. We’re all really sorry for everything, okay?
Leah: Stop it! I don’t need your apologies. I just want you to convey the message to the rest of the boys. I don’t want you guys near me anymore. Our so called friendship ends here.
*************************************************
The next day in school, I sat with Nina avoiding Jungkook. But he came to sit behind us and started to say how sorry he was for his past actions and that he deeply regretted them now and other stuffs like that.
I said, “You have apologized and I took it. But I still don’t want to talk to you anymore.”
Jungkook still followed me to the cafeteria at lunch break. I was really annoyed at the way he was acting. “Could you please stop following me?” I almost shouted at his face.
“Please, Leah…”Jungkook tried to say something more when I turned to go. Then, he grabbed my hand.
I looked him dead in the eyes and said boldly, “This is the last time I’m going to tell you this, leave me alone.”
Instead of letting go of my hand, Jungkook took a step toward me. That was when I slapped him, really hard on his face. As soon as I did, I regretted it. Some of the students were staring at us by then.
“Leah,” Jungkook’s voice trembled as he looked at me in disbelieve, “You hate me so much, don’t you?”
*************************************************
Jimin had texted me to meet him even if it was the last time I did. I was very upset about the whole school affair. To ease my unsettling brain, I thought it would be better to talk it out.
As I waited for Jimin in the nearby park, I kept replaying in my mind how Jungkook had looked at me after I had hit him. I knew I would never forget that look.
I saw Jimin approaching me from a distance. He brought flowers for me again. He came to me and smiled. Even with the smile on his face, he still looked sad. It was hard to be mad at Jimin. I took the purple flowers from his hand.
“I know how you’re feeling, Leah.” he said and it sounded like he really did.
I started to cry, “Why did you have to be so cruel to me?”
“We’re really sorry, Leah.” Jimin’s voice broke as he struggled to say the right words. “We were stupid. Trust me, if only we knew just how much you would mean to us, we would have never done that.”
“You said you care for me!”
“And we do.” Jimin stepped forward and hugged me. There was a feeling of comfort in his arms. I buried my face on his chest as he gently stroked my hair. “Just trust us this one time and we wouldn’t let you down.”
I nodded. There was no way I could stay away from them. They had become a part of me. As much as I hated to admit it, I knew I loved them.
*************************************************
The boys had arranged a special dinner for me. The reason was obviously to apologize to me officially. I called Nina to ask if she was coming. She said that the dinner was meant for me and she’d better not intrude.
I was having mixed feelings toward the dinner. I kept worrying whether I had made the right decision or not. I felt like I really didn’t have any choice. I loved the boys too much to break off the friendship that was so precious to me.
Even if I could now remember everything, most part of my life I had felt empty. These past few months I had spent with the boys were the most exciting part of my life. No matter how terrible they had been to me before the accident, they had been double nice to me afterwards.
I had put on my best dress to go to the dinner party. When my mother saw me, she literally gasped and said that I looked so pretty. Before I got out of the house, she told me that she was glad that I had finally found the friends I deserved and that she had never seen me so happy before.
Jin came to pick me up since I still didn’t have the driving license. He was awestricken when he saw me. “Leah,” he said, “you look beautiful.” Then immediately he added, “even though that’s nothing compared to me.” I punched him in the arm and got in to the car.
Once I got down from the car, I ran straight to Jungkook and hugged him. "I'm really sorry, Kookie. I didn't mean to hurt you." I said after releasing him from my arms.
Jungkook shook his head and said, "No, Leah. It should be me apologizing to you instead. I AM SORRY!"
"Can we please skip this part?" Yoongi poked his head in between us and gave me his huge gummy smile, melting me right at the spot.
As soon as the other boys saw me they started to shower me with compliments. None of them could deny the fact that I looked beautiful in that dress. I was blushing really hard and told them to stop it.
After some times of talking and fooling around just like the old times, I almost forgot about all the worries I had earlier. Hoseok stood up and declared, "It is now time for the special performance that we've arranged for our precious friend, Leah."
The boys arranged their position to sit facing me. Namjoon said, "This is the song I wrote just for you when you were in the coma."
Then, they started to sing, one by one. It was so beautiful. The music was really soothing. It calmed me right away. And what could I say about the lyrics. It was so heart-warming.
They had admitted their fault of not being good friends to me. They had failed to realize my worth. They had regretted their actions once I was gone. There was nothing in this world that they could ask for other than my forgiveness and the promise of our friendship.
They said those words in the most poetic way and it made me tear up. Once the song was over I hugged them all, one by one. I said that I was so lucky to have them in my life, that I had already forgiven them and that I wished to continue our friendship till death.
We sat at the dinner table and made a toast to our friendship. We ate and drank till our stomachs could no longer take it anymore.
Then, the disco lights were turned on and we danced to the loud music. It was the best night I had spent in my entire life.
Being exhausted, I went to sit beside Jin, who had already given up dancing at that point. We laughed at the other boys doing stupid dance moves.
I rested my head on Jin’s shoulder. "See," Jin said, "I promised, we'd make it up to you, didn't I?"

Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - More to come
Who Will Pay the Rent?
9:24 a.m. 1st September, 2015
“Just a few more minutes left.” Yoongi sighs heavily, “you could have easily saved the bother to come here, today.”
“What happened?” I ask, taking the empty seat beside him. “I thought you said that we’re winning today. What’s up with that long face?”
“It seemed like that at the first half.” Yoongi nods towards the field, “as you can see, the tables took a 180 degree turn.”
Honestly, I don’t understand a thing about basketball. It is better to just take Yoongi’s words as they are. I ask him the important question now, “how much do you owe them?”
Yoongi intentionally avoids eye contact and keeps looking at the match without a reply. I notice that he is sweating like crazy. I understand now that it is not just about the game.
“Don’t tell me you have to sell a kidney to pay them.” I jokingly say to which he doesn’t budge. I grow agitated. “Yoongi! C’mon, tell me what it is?”
He sighs and says, “It’s just worth my rent, that’s all.”
“Your rent?” I ask, “like for the month?”
Yoongi nods and stays silent. We both remain silent for the rest of the game. I wish I could offer to help him. It is most likely that he will not accept anything directly from me. I, on the other hand, am not in a place to help him either.
My phone vibrates in my pocket and I quickly take a look at Jimin’s message saying he’s going inside the exam hall right now. I write a small “good luck” reply and put my phone back inside the pocket.
Yoongi starts to stand up from his seat, “Let’s get out of here! It’s not like anything can change in the last few minutes.”
I nod and follow him out of the stadium. He asks me if I want something to eat to which I shake my head.
“Noona!” Yoongi says, “Stop worrying about me. It’s not like I’m going bankrupt or something. It’s just some stupid amount of money, that’s all.”
“So,” I start hesitantly, “who will pay the rent?”
“I’ll manage that somehow, Noona. I always do.”
Yoongi’s the one among us who’s the most desperate to make a lot of money. That’s why he goes into these betting games and all. I once heard from Jin that he had found Yoongi starving himself because he lost all his money on some games and Jin had helped him that one time even though Yoongi refused to be helped. I don’t really approve of his ways but who am I to stop him? I did not raise him. I don’t even understand his ways of thinking.
I still feel like I should advise him to stop this nonsense and try something else. Something permanent. He is a genius and I know he will be able to figure something out if he wants. But I also feel like today is not the time to lecture him on life. Not when he’s already so stressed about it.
I decide to head to my next destination. I am not going to leave Yoongi in this state. So, I ask him, “If you don’t have to be anywhere, will you come with me?”
“I can manage some time. Where will you take me, Noona?”
“We’re going to meet Jimin.”
Jimin’s exam will be finished at around 11 a.m. So, Yoongi and I wait for him outside the hall where there seems to be a huge crowd of the guardians of the other students. I mentally pray that Jimin will be able to outsmart them on his test today.
“I never understand Jimin’s appeal for education.” Yoongi says.
“I think it’s the same one as yours.” I offer an explanation, “Come to think of it. At the end of the day you both want to win at life. By elevating your status. Either with education or with money.”
“You know what, Noona?”
“What?”
“I hate it so much that you’re always right!” There is a faint line of smile on his face as he says the last sentence.
“Yoongi” I suddenly feel an urge to talk to him seriously. Yoongi barely talks about his real issues.
“Noona?”
“I’m asking this because I’m really worried about you, okay?”
Yoongi frowns, “I think I know what you’re going to say. I’m sorry for making you feel that way. I really am. I’m sorry, Noona!”
“Oh no, dear!” I quickly add, “You don’t have to apologize. I understand that you’re going through tough times.”
“Noona!” Yoongi looks at a distance as he speaks, “Do you remember ma’s face? Like, not the one as we see in her pictures. The face of her when she was sick. That face she had before she could finally rest after years of pain she went through.”
I don’t know why Yoongi is suddenly bringing this topic. Is he really missing ma all of a sudden or just trying to change the topic? Yoongi glances at me for a second and I can see his eyes glistening.
“If only I had the money, I would have taken a bus from school to come to see you.” Yoongi sniffs, “he wouldn’t let me go no matter how much I begged him to. Said it was a ‘waste of good money seeing some sick people’. I don’t think I can ever move on from the fact that I never saw ma and pa again after I left that house.”
“Yoongi!” I can barely make myself audible.
Yoongi never talked about the times he spent with our uncle who took him in when ma fell sick. Yoongi was only four at that time and he was the only one who never came to visit us occasionally during the five years when ma and pa were still alive. When I used to ask pa about it, he would always say that Yoongi was too busy with his school. I only got to see him first at their funeral. Only after Yoongi left uncle’s place for good when he was finally eighteen, we started meeting almost regularly.
“I’m sorry, Noona, I turned up this way.” Yoongi looks at me, his eyes bloodshot, “I didn’t really have an opportunity to be any better than this. Of course, I won’t use this as an excuse. I’m all grown up now and I’m trying to be more responsible. I swear, Noona, you will be proud of me like all the rest of our brothers one day. I will make that happen.”
“But I am proud of you!” I say, “I am proud of how strong you are. I am proud that after all those shits you went through, you still grew up to be such a kind and sweet soul.”
“Thank you, Noona! But you don’t really have to cheer me up.” Yoongi shrugs his shoulders, “I know me.”
“And I know you too.” I slowly move towards him and pull him into a hug, “I see you, Yoongi. I see you!” I slowly pat him on his back as I can sense him fighting the urge to hug me back.

Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - More to come
Goodbye, SNU...:
11:17 a.m. 1st September, 2015
Almost all the students seem to have gotten out of the exam hall already but there is no sign of Jimin. What can that mean?
"I don't think his exam went well, noona!" Yoongi quietly puts my thoughts into words.
I shake my head, "He must be talking to a friend. Jimin’s exam must go well. He prepared for it for months."
"Accidents happen, you know!" Yoongi shrugs.
Finally I see Jimin, slouching, coming out of that building all alone. My heart feels heavy. Jimin will not recover from this any time soon if something goes wrong.
Yoongi calls out, "Jiminah! Here!"
There is a moment of confusion in his face at first. Then it fades to recognition. He slowly walks towards us and gives a weak smile.
"Was it that bad?" I ask.
Jimin nods. His smile turns upside down. And the next thing we know is his eyes are wet. Jimin is crying.
I am sitting at a cafe table waiting for my two brothers to come from the washroom, wondering what life lesson the older one is teaching the younger one in his hour of despair. It does not take long. Finally, they make their way towards me.
“Everything okay, now?” I ask.
“Tolerable!” Yoongi sighs. There is a hint of annoyance in his voice.
As soon as they sit down, Jimin begins ranting about all the silly mistakes he had made. His brain was a mess during the exam time so he couldn’t concentrate properly and he had marked the number of bills and coins in South Korea to be five and four respectively whereas the answer is quite the opposite.
“C’mon, Jiminah, everyone knows that” Yoongi grunts mockingly and I glare at him to stop teasing.
I turn to Jimin and, noticing the dark circles and the sharp jawline, ask him, “Have you been properly eating and sleeping, Jiminie?”
“What?” His look was wearied. That answers my question.
I say, “Listen! What you really need is a proper meal and some sleep.” I check the watch on my wrist and calculate the amount of time still remaining before I meet up with Namjoon. “Alright! Let’s go to granma’s place and I’ll cook both of you some hearty meals.”
Driving all the way to granma’s place is tiring to some extent. It is all the more exhausting when you have a passenger talking non-stop about how terrible he’s feeling and how his life is all dark ahead of him as if not getting into SNU means that your life’s over. I understand that all the unnecessary amount of caffeine Jimin had consumed within the last few months had done little to no good to him. What surprises me more is the level of patience Yoongi has for Jimin. Because I am slowly losing my mind right now.
At last, here I am, trying to make some quick healthy lunch for me and my two little ones.
“You're home already?” The youngest enters the kitchen.
Alright. Three little ones now.
I hastily add more water and some spicy ingredients to the soup before turning to speak to Jungkook. “Yes! Just to prepare lunch. Go say hi to Yoongi and Jimin.”
“They're here?” He excitedly leaves without waiting for my answer.
The familiar sound of the boys’ laughter fills the living room. It is carried to my ears which in turns brings a smile to my lips. I prepare the dishes, pour the soup, take the kimchi out of the fridge and finally call Yoongi to help me carry them to the table.
I am surprised to not find Jimin in the dining room.
“Hyung fell asleep so I carried him to my room. He looked so tired. Didn't want to wake him up.” Jungkook informs.
“But the food will go cold when he wakes up.” I say.
Yoongi pulls the sleeve of my shirt and motions me to sit down, “it's alright. I'll just warm them up for him.”
I say, “You start eating. I’m gonna go check on him.”
Yoongi shrugs, “he’ll be alright, noona. We all do.”
I nod a little but my heart does not agree. Jimin is a perfectionist. I know how much it hurts him when he fails to meet his ambitions. And it pains me to even think how this is going to affect him. He is going to be so hard on himself from now on.
I step inside Jungkook’s almost-bare-except-for-a-bed bedroom and find Jimin snoring softly. He looks peaceful in his sleep. Almost angelic other than the fact that he has lost so much weight over the past few months so he looks kinda ill. His eyes have sunken into perfect brown circles and his jawlines look as if it can cut.
I slowly run my hand over his hair as my eyes start to prick. I wish he would stop worrying about being perfect. I wish he knew he was more than his mistakes. I wish he knew how much he is loved.
I quietly go back to eat. Luckily Yoongi and Jungkook are already immersed in a conversation about some comic books that I barely know about. After a few minutes of munching on my food in silence, my phone rings from the kitchen so I have to excuse myself. It is Namjoon.
“Noona! It's already 1:50. Are you sure you can make it in time?” I hear Namjoon's worried voice from the other side of the speaker.
“I'm leaving home right away. You wait for me a little longer. Can you do that?”
There is a moment of silence. Then Namjoon speaks, “of course, I'll wait. I ain't doing this without my lucky charm.”

In the soulmate world, everyone gets a different mark, something related or completing their soulmate's. That's why, knowing Jin and Jimin had the same soul mark, it was prominent that they both had the same soulmate.
Both; Jimin and Jungkook agree not to tell the members right away, but when they are all back to the dorm after spending their breaks in peace. The news they were to break was nothing less than a bomb. Jimin was already struggling to come to terms with the fact that he and Jin might share the same soulmate. How are they going to tell him this? How is Jin going to react when he hears about it?
The boys try to enjoy the rest of the break, but considering the situation, it was a bit difficult.
As Saturday comes, the boys were back at the dorms. Them, Suga, and RM were the only ones to arrive yet. The others will be back by tomorrow.
The last three days were challenging for the younger members to hold onto the information and not share it with anyone else yet. Both the boys were anticipating for the moment to lighten the weight of their hearts. Though Jimin was nervous to tell Jin the new knowledge he stumbled upon, he could not bear to keep it to himself anymore.
When Sunday comes, the members, as per their routine, gather up in the living room to talk about their breaks sharing stories from back home.
"So get this, I was playing catch with Moni while holding cold coffee in my other hand, and instead of the ball, I threw my coffee. Even he was confused." Namjoon tells the members, face-palming while shaking his head.
The members burst out in laughter.
Jimin laughed too, or more like faked a laugh, but unlike always, he did not throw himself on the nearest member or the floor.
Yoongi, who had been observing his quiet behavior since last night, knew something was wrong. He brushed it off, thinking it was because he was down from the flight, but it was clear now that something was bothering him. So, he voiced his concern,
"What is it, Jimin-ah?"
His question towards Jimin put everyone's attention on the latter.
"Nothing, Hyung." he lied, but one look from his Hyung made him drop his act.
He sighs, "something happened when Jungkook-ah and I met up back in Busan." making the members, all the more curious.
"Spill it already. Don't take dramatic pauses." the sentence came from Taehyung, who was at the edge of his seat now.
"I- I got my soul mark." Jimin stutters, his head down, his nerves spiked.
A chorus of congratulations rang in the room.
Taehyung gasps.
Hobi comes to hug, skipping towards him while clapping his hands.
Namjoon comes in for a hug as well, with a wide smile.
Taehyung comes, asking to see his mark, which he hid with the broad ring. His request made Jimin's eyes wide.
Seeing his expression towards the request, Yoongi asks,
"This is news to celebrate Jimin-ah. Why were you worried? Is there something else you aren't telling us?"
"I- umm, I'll show you first," He replies.
Jimin takes his ring off, stretching his hand so all the members could see. His eyes were on Jin, waiting for his reaction.
As soon as the mark was visible to the members, their eyes went wide, buffering, trying to process the information before moving their heads between Jimin and Jin.
Jin, on the other hand, was frozen. He could not believe what he was seeing. The replica of the mark that sets on his ring finger.
He didn't know how to react to this information.
They had heard about two people sharing the same person but never thought he would board the same boat as them.
The longer Jin stayed silent, the more nervous Jimin became.
Suddenly a thought passes Jin's mind,
"Is that why you asked for a picture of my mark?" The question was directed at Jungkook, who noded back in reply.
"We thought it looked like yours, so we asked you for one to confirm."
Jin nods, "So you must have met her. Did you bring her with you?"
"No, Hyung-nim. We couldn't even see her properly, let alone meet her."
"You at least had seen her." whispered jimin, looking dejected.
The little hope that shone through jin's eyes died again hearing their reply.
"But we did find her necklace. Or at least we think it's hers. She dropped it when she bumped into me."
Jimin takes the locket out of his pocket to show them.
"Hyung! I remember this. She was wearing it that night. She kept touching it. It must be important to her."
The words come from Namjoon. He remembers; she didn't let go of the necklace much while sharing her sorrows with him. He still hasn't told his Hyung about it. Now, Jimin is the soulmate of the same girl as well.
Does she even know that she has not one but two soulmates? She wasn't ready to accept one in her life; how will she make place for two? Forget her life; how will she do so in her heart?
He could only hope; both his members won't end up hurting.
"So we know she's in Busan."
"We don't know Hyung. It happened on the third night."
" If she's a tourist, she won't stay in the same city for long."
Hoseok spoke for the first time.
"This is making my head hurt." Jin exhales a heavy breath, his fingers pinching the bridge of his nose. "I'm going to bed."
Jimin watches as Jin leaves the room. His heart heavy as he slides down on the couch, clutching the necklace.
Taehyung hugs him, trying to provide him some comfort, strength. Jungkook sits on Jimin's other side, hand on his back.
Everyone saying words of comfort, telling him everything will work out.
The night gets darker; everyone asleep by then except Jimin. He was cursing fate; for having to put him in this position, for making him the reason for his Hyung's state. He couldn't bear to see anyone upset; how could he handle being the reason for it?
But that wasn't all he was thinking about. What happens after they finally meet their soulmate? How will she react after finding out that she has two soulmates? Would she be happy? For him, it doesn't matter that he has to share a soulmate when the other person is his own member, his hyung who doesn't have a selfish bone in his body. He can't wait to meet his soulmate and give her all the love she deserves.

I hail down a taxi as soon as I walk out the door of the Airport.
As my mother suggested, I came back to Seoul in search of an apartment. I looked up the Seoul university yesterday and filled an online application. I also searched for some apartment complexion near it, so my agenda for the next two days is set.
The morning after I lost my locket, I went back to that place to search for it again at the first crack of dawn but to no avail. I spent my whole day at the market hoping for a miracle, but who was I even kidding; it's clear that the universe is not on my side.
The next day I spent in my hotel room in Busan, moping around for losing my precious locket. The day was spent crying, and by the evening, when I had had enough of my wailing, I gave myself a stern lecture to start moving on from Eric and try to set up my life here. That's how I ended up enrolling at the university and on the flight back to Seoul the following morning.
But who was I kidding? I could never get over Eric; my love for him runs deeper than the soul bond. It runs in every vein of my body.He was my bestfriend, my first love. How are you supposed to get over your first love? I tried to stay angry at him but that didn't work.
Still, I thought; I could try to make a future here with the completion of my Masters.
My ride to the hotel seemed to have passed by quickly than before. I decided to stay in the same hotel; I did the week before. It had a nice view of the river and calming vibes.
I set up my luggage in my room and decide to go to a nice restaurant instead of calling for room service.
I call my mother while waiting for my order to arrive; I talked to her yesterday to tell her about my lost necklace. She was the one who told me it would be of no use to sit around moping; I had to get up and try to move on with my life.
"Hi, mama. How are you? How's your contract going?" I ask her; she told me yesterday she was having a bit of trouble with the new contract.
"I'm great, Mija. The contract is going fine now; the dealers agreed to the new terms. How are you?"
She takes enough stress over the business as it is, the contract added to the load. But her hard work is what has taken the company to the extent it's at today. We aren't wealthy per se, but as you can tell: we're not lacking in the money department either.
"I'm as good as I can be. I'm going to look for the apartments after lunch. I'll send you the pictures so you can help me choose."
"Sure, Sel. You looked into the universities as well?"
"Yeah. I'm gonna' enroll myself in Seoul National University."
"Very well. When will the classes start?"
"um, in the fall. I'll have the time to settle till then."
"Great, I hope the apartment-
My mother's sentence was cut short by her secretary; as they spoke in hushed tone over the phone.
She sighs, "I have to go, Sel. We'll talk later. Take care."
"You take care of yourself too, Mama Later!" I say before the call cut.
As I look out of the window, my mind wanders off to the guy I stumbled upon at the Airport when I first got here. He has been in the back of my mind ever since, even though I don't visit the memory very often. His kind eyes, so comforting, as if inviting me to pour my sorrows into them. It felt like I could lose forever into them.
My chain of thought breaks when the waiter arrives with my order.
--------------------------------------------------
I take a taxi to the first place. I sigh, looking out the window. All I see are the same faces over every billboard here. I mean, I knew BTS was big but, these guys are BIG, big. I never heard their music tho, excluding the time I heard it in the taxi last time. It was good but sad songs have been my Jam this past month; my favorite artist being Finneas. The songs he writes goes straight to the heart.
The day passes by in the blink of an eye. I visited four apartments today, and none were suitable for me. One was way too big for a single person, one was giving cold, depressed vibes, I mean, I know I'm not at my best right now, but that does not mean it will be obvious seeing my home. Home; That's what I'm looking for; After completing my Master's degree, I'm thinking of getting a job here maybe; I can't go back to the place where I'm constantly reminded of Eric and our memories. This place is my new start, and I'm going to embrace it.
I've got three apartments to look at for tomorrow. I hope one of them will be it. I can't go apartment hunting every day. I will need time to settle down as well, so it will be helpful to find a place as soon as possible.
After dinner, I go to the Han River for a walk again. After the hectic day, I needed some calm and peace. The view from the stream, the sky, it all looks so mesmerizing. I could get lost in it for a lifetime. It would have been great if I could find an apartment near this area. I would be able to visit this place often then. The thought makes me stop in my track; why didn't I think of this before-
I quickly take my phone out, seeing if I could find some vacant apartments here. This place is expensive; but also pretty popular. So it might be hard to find a vacant one here. It all depends on my luck now, which might I add is not on my side lately.
As I scroll down the site, I find some pictures of a beautiful apartment complex. The vibes of the apartment match me. I'll visit the place first thing in the morning as I leave a message for the realtor.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The followed morning, I go to check out the apartment. It will take around forty-five minutes to reach the university from here, but I think the view makes it worth it.
I send a picture of the place to my mother. Her reply comes not too long after, telling me she likes it and asking all those 'mom' questions:
"How far is the university? Where is it situated? Is the place safe? What about Privacy?" and so on.
I reassured her that I asked about everything, and that all is good. The price too is affordable for us. I paid the advance after asking when I could move in. They say they'll get the place ready, and I could move within a day. Today is Saturday, and I need to go on the university tour on Monday, so it works.
For the rest of the day, I opt for shopping since I'll need many things. I decide to shop for just the essentials today; I can buy the rest after the move.
I buy some clothes and toiletries. The apartment will come furnished, thankfully, so I don't have to buy any furniture. I purchase some bedsheets and curtains that I think will suit my room.
As I'm roaming around the market, a pretty Bonsai plant catches my eye. Having plants in the apartment will add more vibrant and calming vibes, I think. I love nature. I could spend forever in the mountains. I used to plan as many vacations to the mountains, but Eric got tired of always having the same view; he didn't think it was any different than the places we had last visited. He didn't appreciate nature's beauty as much as I did, but he still went with me for some time. At last, he got tired, and my vacations to nature were cut short. Now I realized how much i lost myself trying to please him.
I get two bonsai plants and some other plants, like indoor climbers and flower ones. I give them the address and tell them to send the order to it this weekend.
My headache from the morning forces me to cut my shopping spree short. I guess I caught a cold from sitting out at the side of the road on a chilling night that day. I massage my temple; I should buy some medicine.
I take a stop at the pharmacy on my way to the hotel. I order room service; bummed I can't go to the River tonight.
I eat my dinner and take my medicine, ready to slip into slumber.
---
I wake up groggily, I try to move, but my muscles ache. I must have slept the wrong way. I stretch my stiff body, sitting up on the bed. I sniff; I see the medicine did nothing. I still have a raging headache and a blocked nose.
I don't get sick quickly; I don't know how some chilly air gave me a cold. It wasn't even that cold at night. I sigh.
I had to move into my place today. Now, I'll have to do that with a runny nose.
I take a warm bath and get ready for the day. The move wouldn't be that difficult; I only have my luggage and the things I bought yesterday to bring to my new home. My mother will be coming to drop off some of my stuff by Tuesday.
I pack all the stuff I bought yesterday in an extra bag I asked the hotel staff for and check out. They emailed me that the apartment was ready for the move in the morning.
----
"Thank you, Mr. Choi," I say, taking the keys from his hands.
He does a little bow as he leaves the apartment.
I signed the contract for six months; if needed, it will be renewed for a year, and so on. Now, this is my new home.
I go into my room and start to put my clothes into the walk-in closet. The apartment wasn't lavish but still humble-sized with a master bedroom adjoined with bathroom, a living room with an open kitchen and a balcony.
By the time I'm through with putting everything away, it's already evening. My stomach grumbles with displeasure, reminding me I haven't eaten since breakfast. And my headache gradually increasing.
I order a pizza and coke since I didn't buy groceries yet; my headache wouldn't have let me cook anything even if I did. I love to cook and love to eat even more. My mom taught me many types of cuisine, Italian, Indian, Chinese, and some famous dishes of other cuisines like lasagna and Spanish cuisine, obviously.
I sigh and turn on the T.V for background sound as I lay on the couch for some rest.
The ringing doorbell disturbs my sleep as I try to get a hold of where I am and what the time is. As my grip on reality returns, I look through the camera to find the delivery guy. I buzz the door open; the guy comes not a minute later through the elevator. I take my order and pay the guy.
I munch on my pizza while watching the T.V. I change the channel until I come across some k-drama. I should start learning the language properly. I can't use the foreigner card all my life, if I want to live here. I think to myself.
After finishing my dinner, I take my medicine and let the tiredness of the day lull me to sleep.
I wake up shivering; I look out the window to see it's still night. I get out of bed with support to go and grab another blanket and a bottle of water for my scratchy throat.
I get back into the bed; after drinking some water to relieve my parched throat, I double my blanket and comforter and curl myself for some warmth. It's the first time I fall sick by myself; I would always have Eric with me if not my mother. He would've been the one comforting and cuddling with me to provide some warmth to my body.
Thinking about him only makes my heart hurt more, he wasn't always perfect, but he was the only one I had. How could he show me his back the second he finds out I'm not his soulmate? What about our love, our memories, our promises? Hell! What about our friendship? That night with a pounding head and Eric in my mind, I go to sleep again, holding myself alone in the cold bed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wake up from the loud sound. I flay my arms around, trying to feel my phone. I grab the said object beside my pillow, holding it up to my face. I try to open my eyes but, it seems like I have no strength to do so. I answer the call without looking,
"Hello?" I whisper into the phone.
"Hi, querida (dear). Were you sleeping?" My mother's voice comes into my ears from the other end. I hum in response.
"Sel, it's 1 pm there. Why are you still sleeping? Didn't you have a tour session in the university?" She says, reminding me of today's plan.
I get up, surprised. My eyes wide open, but as soon as the pounding of my head registers, I close my eyes. My hand on my forehead tells me I have a fever.
I sigh, "Mama, I can't go today; I have a bad headache." I don't tell her the whole truth. I know she'll be worried for nothing.
"Take care of yourself, Sel. I called to tell you the confirmation of my flight came. I'll be there tomorrow by noon." The news brings a smile to my face; I miss her.
"Great news Mama. Don't forget to pack my notes and my furry pillow." I remind her. The pillow was gifted to me by Eric on valentines day a couple of years back. He had given me many gifts, but this one was different. The pillow was drenched in the smell of his cologne. I still remember what he said while giving it to me,
"This has a special purpose, you know?" Eric said when I asked him the reason behind getting me a pillow for Valentine's.
"Yeah? and what is it?" I say, pretending to fix his tie as we stand close to each other, his hands on my waist, his thumb subconsciously rubbing circles on my exposed skin.
"Well, suppose if I'm not there, and you miss me. You can hug it at that time; it also has my cologne so you could feel my presence even if I'm not there." And I smile. He thinks of everything, but I still decide to tease him a little.
"Why won't you be there yourself? You're telling me to make do with a pillow when I need you?" I raise my eyebrow, moving to step out of his hold.
He panics, and instead of letting me go, his grip on my waist tightens as he pulls me closer to himself, "I said, suppose. I'll always be there with you, baby. You do know that I won't ever leave you. I love you so much."
"I know. I love you too." That's all I say before standing on my toes and leaning in to connect our lips.
The memory brings tears to my eyes. I sniffle, keeping the phone away from my face a little. Composing myself, I speak,
"Take care, Mama. And have a safe flight. I'll be waiting. Love you"
"Love you too, baby. Take care." She says before hanging up.
I look at the time, and it indeed is 1.30 pm. I slept for more than twelve hours, but I still feel exhausted, as if my body would collapse right here if I let it. I sigh and get out of bed. Sick or not, this shit needs to be done.
I freshen up and go grocery shopping. I can't live on takeouts every day. On my way, I stop for lunch at a simple restaurant right around the corner of my society. I order simple; since I don't have much of an appetite when I'm sick, but I still have to eat to take the medication.
After lunch, I go to a grocery store. I've been wanting to cook for a few days. Eric loved my cooking, and I loved to cook for him. I get many things, Juice, cereal and frozen food to meat, noodles and spices and sauces. And some coffee. I need Coffee to start my day, or someone could die by my hands.
Talking of Coffee, I also need to buy some appliances, One of them being the coffee machine. The house comes furnished, but they don't provide these things. I won't need the dishwasher since I'll be alone so there won't be many dishes. I only need to buy a mixer/grinder, coffee machine, and a microwave.
I place the order for the appliances at the nearest electronic store I could find. The delivery will be by the evening or tomorrow morning.
After finishing my errands, I decided to go home to get some rest but not before grabbing takeout from a sandwich shop.
Coming back to an empty apartment, I sigh. Removing my shoes and coat by the door, I move into the house. The deafening silence is like an arrow shot straight to my heart. I never pictured my future without Eric; I couldn't. I always thought we would always be together. But right now, living in this moment without Eric. Not having to hear his voice in this past one and a half months has been torture for me.
At first, after our breakup, I turned to alcohol. That's all I did for ten days straight. That was until my mom stuffed some sense into my thick skull. Talking to her made me realize I needed to cope with his absence in a little healthier way. So, I cried. I cried all day and night, In my mother's arms, on the cold bathroom floor alone, on the couch. I threw stuff around, broke things. I was angry at Eric for doing this to me. I cursed him and begged him to come back to me at the same time.
But it turned out to be of no use. Lastly, my mother suggested I should take some time to explore the world and find myself again. Her words were: "You have lost yourself in Eric so much, you forgot about your own self. You need to find yourself again, find new things that give you happiness instead of mopping around for Eric. And maybe along the way, you can also find your soulmate, only if you want to." I didn't agree with her last part, but She wasn't wrong about the other stuff so, I came here. And after all this trying, his absence still bugs me.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wake up from the pounding of the door. I check the time on my phone, indicating it's just 8 in the morning. My eyebrows furrowed, thinking, who could it be this early in the morning. I lay back down, wishing whoever it is to go back and leave me alone.
After my breakdown last night, I fell asleep on the couch. My throat is scratchy from all the crying, and my eyes swollen. I have no mind to attend to anyone. But the voice that comes through the walls, asking me to open the door, has me up from the couch faster than light. How could I forget about mom coming; I was supposed to pick her up from the airport.
As I swing the door open, an apology was first to come out of my mouth.
"I'm sorry, Mama. I forgot about your flight. I was sleeping." I apologize, hugging her, still at the doorway.
Her scolding that I can tell was at the tip of her tongue, vanished as soon as she looked me in the eyes. Her angry eyes turn into worried ones.
"Baby, what happened. Your eyes are swollen," she says. Her hand comes up to rest on my cheek, and her eyes widen.
"And you have a fever, Sel!" I flick my wrist, brushing off the subject.
"It's nothing, Mama. I've had it for a couple of days now." As soon as the sentence comes out of my mouth, I realize my mistake.
My mother gasp hearing it; I know the scolding I was about to get just now will be coming, only on a different subject.
She takes me inside and sits me down on the couch, asking me where the thermometer is. I tell her, not wanting to anger her further.
"In the left-side drawer of my bed, the room is the first door on the right, down the hall."
As she goes to fetch the object, I stand up to bring all the luggage inside that she left in the hallway.
She comes back in the living room just in time as I sat back on the couch. She gives me the thermometer to check my temperature, which I do. A minute after it beeps, I take it out, but before I can see the numbers written, it gets snatched from my hands. My mother reads the numbers aloud, her eyes as big as saucers.
"102.5 degrees. And you were going out with that high fever." I wince. I didn't realize it was that bad.
"Calm down, Mama. I'll rest today, I promise."
"Did you even take medicine, at least?"
"Sí Mama, I did. I don't think that had much effect tho. Don't worry; it's just a fever. I'll be fine."
"Hm, I'll go make you some soup. I'll take care of you, baby. You rest." She says, running her hand on my head. It always feels nice to be pampered by her. It's been a while since I've been pampered by her.
I smile, nodding. "I know, Mama."
I watch her operating her way into the kitchen. She just came here from a long flight, no doubt tired, and instead of letting me make something for her and getting some rest, she's there in the kitchen cooking for me. That's why I have such high respect for mothers; they can do anything to protect their children.
:
After twenty minutes, her soup is ready and served. She doesn't let me eat by myself but insists on feeding me with her own hands.
"You know I can eat by myself: right? I have a fever; I didn't get crippled."
"Shush! Let me take care of you in peace," she says, still feeding me.
"I miss this, you spoiling me," I say and catch her smiling softly; as she moves her eyes to mine.
"Me too, baby. We'll make this week count. I'll pamper you like the old days." She says, ruffling my hair.
Finishing up the soup, she gives me the medicine, telling me to sleep. And I oblige, closing my eyes letting myself slip into the dreamland.
-----------
My sleep is broken by hands shaking my body; I open my eyes to see my mother hovering above me. I smile,
"Hi," I say, stretching my body.
"Hi, baby. How'd you sleep?" She asks me, putting a hand on my forehead.
"You're still burning up," she says with furrowed eyes.
"I slept fine, Mama. And the medicine will take time. I'm sure; I'll be fine by tomorrow."
She nods, "I made you dinner, cmon." I sit up; as she sits the bowl in front of me. I scrunch my nose while seeing what's in the bowl.
"Don't make faces, Sel. I know; you don't like porridge, but you're going to eat it nonetheless."
I sigh, agreeing.
"What did you do while I slept?" I ask her, making conversation.
"Nothing much; I just set up your things that I brought, Took a shower, and attended some calls." I nod.
We talk about my university and my experience here.
"Oh, I'll take you to this calming place I found after dinner. The sky looks so beautiful from there, Mama. I go there every day."
"But you're sick today; take me some other time." she objects.
"Please, Mama. It's just a ten-minute walk from here. And we'll come back in no time, I swear." I give her my puppy eyes.
She sighs, and I know; I won.
Cleaning up the kitchen after finishing our dinner, we both get our coats to leave. Before leaving, she wraps me up in a muffler and a beanie as I roll my eyes.
Arriving at Han River makes me realize how much I missed this place after not visiting for a couple of days. I sigh, basking in the calm and peace of my favorite place. My headache, and weak body, everything is forgotten as I look up at the moon. My hand reaches up to hold my necklace, but I remember mid-way that it's not there anymore, so I rest my hand on my heart.
My mother praises the place beside me but gets quiet as she sees me like this. Putting a hand on my shoulder, she comforts me.
We both stay like this, looking up at the sky for what feels like forever, but I know only some minutes have passed.
"We should go back, cmon. It's not healthy for you to be out for so long while you're sick." She says, and I nod.
We move away to go back, but as I turn around my vision goes hazy, and everything starts to spin. I reach out my hand to my mother for some support as the world goes dark and gravity pulls me.

Summary: He took big strides, halting right in front of me as he bends to my eye level, causing me lean back a little. I could feel his breath fanning my face, looking into his eyes, I could see a storm of anger into them.
"We have been nothing but considerate of you and your feelings, while all you've given in return is rejection and cold shoulder since day one." He grits out.

The boys have been practicing for over three hours now. Jimin has been down all day, worrying about Selene and Jin. He really didn't want to leave them all alone fending for themselves while being sick, even if it was only for some hours. During these three hours, Jimin has made three phone calls to Jin asking about their health, only getting short answers in return.
Jungkook putting his own worry for his Hyung aside has been trying to comfort jimin all day, doing crazy shit to make him smile but of no use.
Yoongi has been observing everyone all this time; that's what he does. Observe and evaluate his surroundings and his family. He can tell by little things like fidgeting or picking nails if his members are stressed or nervous or embarrassed. Living with people for nearly nine years does this to people. Even though he doesn't show his love verbally or in an overly affectionate way, he does these little things like observing their worry to help them out, not wanting or waiting for them to burn out like a candle: and carrying all the stress alone. That is his way of subtly showing his love for them.
And this past week, he has observed Namjoon fighting an internal battle that has only increased after Selene's arrival at the dorm. He looks at her puzzlingly as if the answers he is trying to find; lie with her, observing her behavior towards Jin and Jimin, not that he's not been doing that himself, he didn't want them to get hurt even if it's by the hands of their own soulmate and that's probably what his dongsaeng was doing but, he knows there's more to it. He knows Namjoon is hiding something, and he also knows it's something crucial to the situation of the soulmates.
He decided he'll have a talk with Namjoon during the break to relieve himself of his internal battle.
Another thing he noticed was how weird Taehyung was behaving. All quiet and somber. He figures he must have a lot on his mind as well. Normally, along with jungkook, taehyung would also be trying to up the spirits of his best friend, setting the mood with his crackheaded-ness. It could just very well be worry for his best friend. He has already made it clear that he doesn't like the way Selene has been treating Jin and Jimin but, Yoongi understands that she is new to all this as well; She will take time to process the changes in her life. She can't just welcome two strangers with open arms just because they are her soulmates.
Yoongi decides he will take care of his dongsaengs one at a time.
When the rest time rolls around, he asks Namjoon to have a talk with him privately in his studio.
Walking into the genius lab, Namjoon asks, "yes, Hyung? what is it?"
"I know something has been bothering you for quite a while now, Namjoon-ah. do you wanna talk about it?" He asks, he knows there is no point in rushing Namjoon to open up but trying wouldn't hurt.
Namjoon sighs, "yes, Hyung, but don't worry. I'll handle it."
"I didn't ask if you'll handle it. I'm telling you if you want a listening ear, this one is always open."
"I know, Hyung. I know. But I can't. I can't tell you, or anyone for that matter, because the information is not mine to share, and even though it's crucial for someone to know, I promised them not to tell anyone. I don't know what to do Hyung." Namjoon says, hanging his head and massaging his nose bridge.
"Is this information by any chance involving The soulmates?" Yoongi asks, they have agreed to call the Soulmate Trio the soulmates because honestly, all their names together were a mouthful.
Hearing his words Namjoon's head snaps up, bewildered as to how he knew, "H-how?" he asks with a frown,
Chuckling, yoongi says, "seriously!? as if anything is ever hidden from me."
"Yeah, but.." Namjoon nods, understanding.
"and well, the secret glances and puzzling looks you keep throwing towards her helped too." suga reveals smugly.
"Ah! I see. it was that obvious?"
"yeah!" he laughs.
"so now that you know, what do you suggest I do?"
"Honestly, if it's something related to her history, you should leave it up to her to open up to them." Namjoon opens his mouth to say something but he doesn't give him a chance, "and I know you feel responsible for knowing beforehand but, as you said, it's not your place nor your secret to share. They will work it out, she'll tell them, whatever it is, when she thinks it's the right time to. And even if they come to know that you knew before them, they will understand. They're not children, namjoon-ah. they know what keeping your word means."
Namjoon's shoulders visibly sagged in relief as he listened to his words.
"Thank you, Hyung! You don't know how long this has been unsettling me."
"I think I do, since the night you met her at Han river, isn't it?"
"Guess you ARE a psychic." namjoon chuckles.
Now that his one brother was free of his predicament, he can focus on his other one. And just like Namjoon, he will give him time to come, and talk to one of his Hyung too before stepping in himself. He just wishes it won't come to that.
The rest of the day went a little more relaxed. During the break, Jimin Video called Jin, though Selene wasn't in the room, Jin informed him that she was sleeping since there wasn't much to do, they both had eaten and were only getting better. After the call, Jimin too was relieved and could focus more on the practice. They all of course missed Jin but, they knew, he'll be with them not long after.
They all went home tired, smiling ear to ear except yoongi, he stayed behind to finish some music he has been working on these past months, he had a schedule: to release his new album soon. He couldn't wait to share this album with army.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The sounds of whispers wake me up from the dreamland, but I don't open my eyes trying to focus on what they are saying.
"When Should I give it to her?" Jimin says, what is he talking about? Give me what?
"I don't know, it's your call," Jin replies. I wanna ask them what they are talking about, but they are speaking in Korean and as far as they know, I can't understand it. Maybe I should tell them that I can understand their language atleast some of it but then it'll be easier for them to make conversations with me and I'm not ready to talk with them.
Fingers move into my hair, gently caressing my scalp; making me sigh against my will. The fingers stop, before continuing after a second, but they don't talk further. Instead, I hear my name leaving Jin's lips.
"Selene..." His deep sugary rich voice makes goosebumps rise on my arms. It's the first time, I'm hearing my name slipping out of his lips. Meanwhile, what I now suppose is Jimin's fingers are still weaving through my hair. It's baffling to me how in just a matter of a day since I met them, I could differentiate between them both with my eyes closed.
"Selene, wake up, please. You need to eat something." He speaks again, And as if on cue, my stomach grumbles. I groan, whyyyy!!!!!
"Everyone is waiting, please come, eat," Jimin says, and I flutter my eyes open. Looking into my eyes, he smiles, but I don't smile back atleast I tried to. I move my eyes to the man standing behind him, finding him already looking into my eyes, he too passes me a smile, and yet again, I tried not to smile. I haven't forgotten the promise I made to myself in the washroom this morning. Even if I have to defy the universe, I won't give in to fate so easily.
I nod, sitting up, "You guys go ahead, I'll just freshen up." their faces tell me; they didn't understand all of what I said, but they got the gist of it since they start moving towards the door.
Walking into the living room, I see everyone settled in their seats, leaving me a seat between Jin and Jimin. I take my seat, as I look at what's for dinner.
"We thought since you guys have been getting better, you won't need to eat the sick food anymore," says Hoseok. That's the first time he has addressed me. I haven't had much interaction with the other guys, they must be giving me space to settle first. Their dorm is pretty big, though I wouldn't expect anything less from Seven guys living together, the world's renowned musicians nonetheless. The interior is pretty modern. The kitchen is themed black and grey, the same as the room I'm staying in.
"Thank you," I say as Jimin serves me and Jin a plate before grabbing one for himself. The dinner was decent; I don't know what's the dish called though. Should I ask them? I don't want to show them any type of interest, but after thinking twice about it, I give in; what's asking for the name of a dish gonna do?
"Sorry, but what is this dish called?" I ask, looking at RM in particular.
"Oh, it's Tteokbokki, it's made from rice. Do you like it?" He answers.
"Yeah, it's good," I say.
"Well, thank Jin, he made it for you," He tells me.
I turn towards Jin, "why are you working in the Kitchen already? You should rest until you're fully recovered." I scold him, against my will, might I add. I don't care about him, No. but when RM mentioned him working in the kitchen, I couldn't help but worry about him. I know this is all because of the bond, but I can't take back my words after voicing them out loud.
He chuckles, "Don't worry, it was not many work. And I was bored, you were sleeping."
Whatever his excuse, I know why he really did it. He was jealous because I complimented Jimin's soup in the morning, and he wanted to earn my praise as well, which he did, Even if it was indirectly. He did. And that was pretty clear on his face. His face was cracked into an ear-to-ear smile, his eyes having lost behind his cheeks, though visible enough for me to see the shine, the pride of having accomplished his goal in them.
Realizing I'm staring again, my eyes divert to the table only to meet another brown pair of eyes, though these eyes were not staring, no they were glaring at me as if I sold off his horse. What was this guy's deal? He seriously has a bone to pick with me, and I didn't even talk to him, let alone do anything for him to act this way.
I sigh, there's no point in addressing that though. I won't be seeing him again after this week. I can ignore it till then.
After finishing up dinner, the guys start cleaning up the table. Thinking, I should lend a hand. I start collecting the dishes and with no interruptions this time, thank god.
The guys move back to the living room, I move to get back to my room, but a voice stops me.
"Do you like to play video games?" The blue highlights guy asks, he's kookie if I'm not wrong.
"um, yeah," I answer.
"Do you wanna play with us? Jimin-hyung and I are gonna have a match, but we need a third player, and Taehyungie-hyung is refusing," he asks me with a pout. Am I seeing this right? Doe eyes and a pout? I didn't have a chance against him in the first place.
"Sure," I say and go to sit at the corner of the couch while he and Jimin are sitting on the floor.
He hands me a console and says, "Don't worry, we'll go easy on you." Smirking at Jimin. The latter, however, is not looking at his dongsaeng, he's looking at me with glinting eyes. I guess, after so many refusals: he's happy I accepted something even if it wasn't his request.
The rest of the boys, except for the one; kookie mentioned before, are here, scattered around the different pieces of furniture in the room. Yoongi and RM, are sharing the couch; adjacent to mine, Hoseok is on a sofa chair, and Jin; is sprawled across the one I'm sitting in.
The match starts with kookie in the lead with Jimin on his tail and I in the last position. But as we got further into the game, the ranks changed. Jimin and I swapped places while Jungkook, as I know him by now, was still in the first place. Not for long. I think as I accelerate, rounding around the corner, I come neck to neck with him. Bumping into his car, I pass him by at just the last second, winning the game. The round of cheers hollered around the room as if I won an Olympic, not a basic car game.
"wahhh!! Daebak!" Jimin comments. I pass him a smile.
"Yah! Selene, you be my team next!" Jin says, giving me a wink.
"Not fair!! You do not say you play good," Jungkkook whines, and I laugh.
"Well, you assumed that I can't play instead of asking me if I could play. Not my fault," I shrug, laughing.
"where you learned?" he asked.
"Eric and I used to play, with time, I picked it up," I tell him smiling, reminiscing the memory.
"Eric?" Jimin asks with weird expressions.
"You know, you should know better than to presume," I say to Jungkook, pretending not to hear Jimin. At this point, the whole room has gone silent, the air frozen. No doubt everyone was watching our exchange.
"Yeah, okay?" Jungkook pouts.
"You don't answer my question," Jimin chimes in impatiently.
"Well.." I drawl, "That's because I didn't want to," I continue.
"Why?" he asks, raising his eyebrow. I chuckle, he really doesn't know when to back down.
"because it's none of your business," I say, looking him straight in the eye as I rise to my feet, watching his eyes as hurt flashes across them. I turn around and go back to my room, slamming the door shut.
Leaning on the door, I take a deep breath; how long till the week is over? It's only my second day here, and I'm already done with all of this. I didn't wanna hurt Jimin. Even if it's only been a day I know both jin and jimin are good sweet men, but I can't lead them on, let them into my life just to leave their hand in the middle of the road. It's better this way, Selene. I assure myself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As soon as Selene is out of the room, all members go to comfort Jimin. Hoseok knows Jimin didn't mean any harm with the question, and that guy for the love of God can't contain his jealousy. He just needs to understand to give her time to warm up to him before diving into her past.
He sighs, "Give her space Jimin-ah. she'll come around." comforting his dongsaeng. However, hoseok doesn't miss the looks Yoongi and Namjoon throw toward each other, having their own secret conversation.
"yah! jimin-ah. If you can't help getting jealous, at least try not to show it," Jin says, Hoseok knows it's hard on them both to share a soulmate. They haven't even gotten to talk about it yet.
"I think you guys should talk about it. Try figuring out how you'll handle this relationship," Yoongi says, he chuckles. Of course, he's thinking the same thing. Hoseok and Yoongi's thoughts have almost always been in sync. Just like Jimin and Taehyung, it's like they are each other's soulmates as well.
"Yeah, you guys should have some ground rules to avoid conflict in your relationship with both, Selene and each other," Namjoon agrees.
"That's a good idea. What do you suggest?" Jin asks, and jimin nods. Besides their relationship with Selene. Their relationship with each other is too important for them. They wouldn't want to lose it for the world.
"Well to start with, how about if one of you gets in an argument with her, the other stays out of it?" Namjoon suggests, and both the members agree.
At this point, the only member missing in the whole ordeal has also come out of his room, the sound of the door slamming brought him out of his haven. He listens intently to namjoon, not wanting to miss out on anything.
"And you should communicate more, always be transparent," Hoseok suggests, he knows how important transparency is in a relationship. If you aren't transparent to your partner, the relationship will crumble beneath the weight of your secrets eventually.
"Right, and don't make it a competition 'cause it's not one. And I know being jealous is only human, and you will get jealous of each other, just try not to show it," Namjoon speaks again, making both men look at each other. Jealousy is something that has the power to sink even the best ships.
"And always keep the other in the loop. For example, tell him beforehand if you have made plans or a surprise for her," Jungkook pitches in. Both men are listening to their members, helping them in their strange situation.
"Yes, and you can add more rules as time goes by, and I know you know but still remember she is your priority, don't think like the other will take care of something. Both of you should," Namjoon reminds them. It's pretty common, to dump your responsibility on someone else, assuming they will take care of it, but none does. In their case, if they communicate enough, nothing will get out of hand.
The others move to go back to their rooms, leaving the two to think over their words and talk things out.
"and give her some space, she might be already overwhelmed with the news of two soulmates. Let her settle that in and take things slow then," Namjoon says before disappearing down the hall.
Hoseok lays on his bed worried about his members, they were so ecstatic when they found their soulmate but having to share a soulmate is a lot of work and struggle. He just hopes while tying new ties their old ones won't break.
The vibration of his phone gets him out of his thoughts, he looks at the caller ID before picking up the call, grinning like an idiot. His worries long forgotten, he says into the phone,
"hi, Yeobo!"
"Hi, Oppa. What are you doing?" the person on the other line asks.
"If I say I was missing you, would you believe me? or does that sound too cheesy?" Hoseok teases.
"I definitely wouldn't believe it, and yes, it is too cheesy." She laughs.
"Well, thank god that isn't the answer then, I was just thinking about work," he says. He doesn't want to lie to her, but she isn't aware of the new situation in the dorm, and it's better that way.
"Oppa... you're always thinking about work, take some rest. Don't go too hard on yourself," she scolds, making Hobi chuckle.
"I just had a week's rest. Don't worry. I won't go too hard. Now tell me, was there a special reason you called, or were you just missing me?" he teases again, this time making her chuckle.
"I wouldn't say I didn't miss you, but yes, I called to ask if you're free to go on a date with me this weekend," she asks,
"of course, who would want to miss upon the opportunity to take a beautiful woman on a date?" he answers, a smile gracing his lips.
"Okay then, see you Saturday!" she says, hanging up the call.
Hoseok gazes up at the ceiling, still smiling. Hands folded, resting on his heart, still holding the phone. Whatever the matter Ji-ah always makes his day bright. If hoseok was everyone else's sun, It was Ji-ah, who had the power to make him smile on the lowest of days. It was one of the reasons he decided to date her.
Hoseok, after having witnessed Jin holding onto the hope; of finding his soulmate and the misery that brings, decided not to have those childish false hope. After waiting two years, hoseok had enough of waiting around for his soulmate. He met Ji-ah two years ago when he was at the lowest in his life. She worked for his sister, and after their many encounters, he asked her out on a date. In 2018, when the band was thinking of disbanding, everything he worked so hard for was slipping from his hands, from all of their hands. He needed support and Ji-ah became that anchor in his life at that time. In a way, she saved him, supported him, comforted him, and loved him. When he thought he didn't have anyone, she was there for him.
Now that Jin and jimin found their soulmates, you would think the candle of his hope has once again been lit, but Hoseok doesn't want to find his soulmate. Ji-ah has been there for him for two years, he does not want to repay her love with hurt. He wouldn't be able to bring himself to.
Ji-ah is one of the kindest, purest and brightest souls he has encountered, he can't be the reason for her hurt.
That is the reason Hoseok has given up on ever finding his soulmate.
But has fate ever listened to anyone? You will get what is due to you and in his case, a soulmate.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's afternoon, and I'm lounging in the living room alone, watching an episode of Friends. I've been avoiding everyone since the morning. I didn't come out of my room for breakfast so after everyone left: Jin came to my room with breakfast. He didn't say anything about last night's situation, he just understood my need for space. I saw his reaction too when I mentioned Eric; his eyes were screaming jealousy just like Jimin's, and I saw the hurt in there when I disregarded Jimin's right over me. He knew that applied to them both.
But he was neither angry nor upset over it but rather understanding. Neither of us addressed last night's events; we had a silent breakfast. It was a little awkward, but that was only because I didn't know how to act, and he was acting so nonchalantly.
After breakfast, he retired to his room, saying he had work and only came out to make and eat lunch. It went silent, just like breakfast. I wondered why he wasn't saying or asking me anything. But at the same time, I was thankful because I wouldn't know how would I answer his questions anyway.
I was laughing: holding my stomach when Monica was teaching chandler how to pleasure a woman right. I threw my head back laughing, only to have a near heart attack when I saw Jin standing behind me.
Screaming, I sat up straight, turning towards him,
"Fucking hell!! you just gave me a heart attack!" holding a hand to my heart.
But what comes out of his mouth isn't something I ever expected him to ask,
"Are you disappointed in us?" I look at him. Eyebrows furrowed.
"What?" I ask, why the fuck would he ask that? These guys are literal angels as far as I've seen. Always caring and kind to others. To me. When I haven't even done anything to earn that kindness.
"Are you not happy we are your soulmates?" he asks again.
Well, that is quite correct, but I can't say that to him. I don't want to hurt him, so I give him an answer that would be acceptable.
"No, Jin. I am not at all disappointed in you guys." I tell him, "You both are one of the sweetest and kindest people I've encountered. I just..." I sigh, before continuing, "I never imagined this. I didn't think or want to meet my soulmate, but I did. And then I found out I have two of them. How do you expect me to behave when I'm living with people I had no desire to meet or find?"
The way his eyes were staring into my own, I wanted to say so much more at this moment, I wanted to tell him everything, about Eric, about my reason to go against the universe. He wanted me to confide in him but I can't. No matter how much I'm tempted right now. I don't want to regret oversharing when I overthink later.
"You didn't want us?" he asks,
"No, Jin. It's not about you, I didn't want anyone," I tell him.
"Why?" he presses further.
"It's complicated. It's just something from my past that I'm not ready to share." I calmly try to make him understand.
"So, it's not because we are not what you um, excepted?" he says, with hopeful eyes. I don't know how much he understood right now, but I guess he got the gist of it.
"Expected." I correct him before continuing to shake my head, "And no. It's not because you aren't what I expected, rather you aren't who I expected," I tell him. He frowns, searching my eyes.
He smiles, "So, friends?" he asks holding his hand out hopefully.
I contemplate for a second, they really are good people maybe it wouldn't hurt to be their friend. We're gonna need each other throughout our life anyway. I'll just make it clear after, that friendship is as far as I am willing to go.
I smile, taking his hand.
Wait a minute! he was asking me questions so fluently in English, sure his English is good, but it's not as good as the way he just talked. Was he working on this the whole afternoon?
Since we're now friends, I decided to tease him. "So, is this what you were working on till now?"
As soon as the sentence is out of my mouth, his ears turn red. "I..I.. well," he stutters, and I laugh.
"Don't worry, you did good," I assure him, not wanting to embarrass him further.
As I try to turn around, I realize we are still holding onto each other's hands. I try taking my hand out, but he doesn't let go instead; he asks me,
"Can I join you?" he nods towards the screen. I raise an eyebrow.
"You was laughing hard," he says shrugging, answering my unspoken question.
"Sure," I smile at him.
He moves towards the couch, I sit at the far end and he sits right beside me, just an inch of space between us. He rests our still united hands in the space, his thumb lightly caressing the back of my hand.
"you know you can let go of my hand now, right?" I ask him, giving him an eyebrow raise.
"but I don't want to," he says with all sincerity, looking into my eyes. I could hear the thumping of my heart in my ears, I just hope he can't. The effect he has on me is going to get me in trouble one day. What is he trying, we just agreed to be friends. He opens his mouth again, "I'm not feeling good," and everything makes sense.
why do you always have to take everything otherwise Selene, I scold myself. Not everyone thinks like you, people can have innocent intentions you know.
I nod, "Okay," I say and turn towards the screen, putting on Korean subtitles so he can understand as well.
And that's how we spend the rest of the evening, holding hands, laughing with each other. His laugh sounded like a windpipe, and I wondered how can someone this beautiful can laugh like that but I'm not judging, I was snorting most of the time as well.
As the sun went down, I was seeing him in a new light. Quite literally. The ray of sunshine hitting his face; well gracing is a better word. As it graced his face, he looked so ethereal. I was happy we could be friends. I just hope it won't get any more complicated than this. I want to resent them honestly, but keeping the bond aside, they are really good people, and they don't deserve it. I don't deserve them.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
It's been two days since Jin and I decided to become friends. I wouldn't say, we have made a huge leap of progress in our friendship since then, but now at least, I'm comfortable with spending time with him. Yesterday, he and I had a Mario cart match of our own; needless to say, I won.
Though he wasn't bitter about it, he did whine and made me promise to team with him against Jungkook next time. I wanted to ask him what about that guy makes them all so competitive, but I bit my tongue because I didn't think it was my place to pry.
Today, the company allowed Jin to go with the other members to catch up on the practice since he has shown good signs of improvement in the past four days, leaving me all alone at their dorm.
A sigh of boredom leaves my lips as I fall back on the bed. I've been watching shows the entire day, but I'm bored of that too. Seriously, how many reruns can a person enjoy non-stop?
I roll across the bed when suddenly an idea pops into my head. I have two world-renowned celebrities as my soulmates, and I know nada about that aspect of their life. Reaching for my laptop, I sit up on the bed, ready to do some digging into how they become to be who they are now.
I search for BTS on youtube and scroll down the results. I pause and go back up; now counting down the views they have on their video and ¡dios mío! the amount of videos they have on their videos is insane. I first click on the music video that had more than a billion views, the song is named DNA. Though I thought, that I will understand at least a little of their song with the little Korean that I know, I was obviously wrong. I had to open the English subtitles to learn the meaning behind their song.
The melody and the music along with the meaning made the song a masterpiece. No doubt so many people loved the song. Their visuals helped as well. Both of my soulmates are looking heavenly in the video but I can't help watching the other members as well. They all are looking so beautiful with their hair and their dangling earrings.
The next song I listen to is called FAKE LOVE. Well, I guess the title explains a little. As the music starts my breath hitches, If I thought they were heavenly before, they looked devilishly handsome now. The lyrics were so well written, like how does one even come up with things like that? This has to be my favorite song of theirs. The sexiness was oozing out of the screen.
Next, I play ON. This song was released just this year. I see the pattern; the deep, meaningful lyrics aren't just a one-time, poet moment thing. All their songs seem to be deep and meaningful. I wonder who their writer is, whoever it is, the guys got lucky with them. Also, the songs are amazingly produced, these guys' team is so well made, they got lucky with everything.
The next video was released this month only, BLACK SWAN. I don't understand the title, but when I see the lyrics, I'm left amazed. And did I just see Jimin dance in contemporary? he was so graceful, and in the shot when his wings expanded, I was a goner. He dances with such poise I could only think to do so. The guys have only gotten better with time. The first video I saw, was from 2016, and in 2020 their visuals, music, their lyrics; it has only gotten better with time. This song should be played in the orchestra. It has the potential to reach people's hearts without even needing to say a word. This piece is a real masterpiece I'd say.
I go to the comment section since this is my new favorite of the guys, I need to know more about them. I see many comments about their pretty handsome faces, Jimin's dance, and marriage proposals. There were critics as well; some people tried to bash them for their success, but there were millions of supportive, loving comments. These guys are loved by their fans so much.
Just as I was about to click on the next video, a voice startles me, making me swear as I look up. Jin was standing there smiling at me, I smile back.
"what are you doing?" he asks as he strides into the room towards me.
panicking about getting caught, I instantly close the laptop, smiling at him, "oh um nothing, when did you come back?"
"just now," he answers. "come out, we bring dinner."
I nod, following him outside. I see Yoongi behind the counter setting the table with Jimin helping him.
Jimin and I haven't really talked after the incident in the living room, where I not so subtly shut him out. I see the longing gazes he looks at me with whenever I'm in his presence, the jealousy in his eyes when I'm with Jin. Even so, he hasn't come to talk to me, once. I don't know what is going on in his head, but he shouldn't have pried into my past much less so early in our relationship.
Soon, all the guys come out after getting freshened up, filling in the seats. Safe to say, besides Jin, I haven't had many interactions with the other boys, but they have been taking care of me, welcomed me into their home, accepting me as their brothers' soulmate. Seeing their success, these guys are pretty down to earth, the arrogance of success has not taken control of their minds. Well, atleast I don't have to deal with an arrogant soulmate. Considering everything, I'd say I ended up good.
"Do you eat spicy?" Namjoon asks from across me, sitting between Hoseok and Yoongi. Next to Yoongi sits Jungkook. I'm as always sitting between Jin and Jimin, with Taehyung sitting beside the latter.
"Depends. Your spicy? probably, My spicy? No." I answer.
Jin sets a bowl in front of me, "try,"
And I do. "It's good, I have eaten this before."
After dinner, as I start to get up to put my dish in the washer, a hand comes to rest on mine halting my actions.
"I think, it's time we have a talk," Jin says, tilting his head towards Jimin.
I nod, Of course, a talk was in order. It's a good time to let them know of my intentions or lack thereof, I guess.
--------------------------------------------------------------
They move to the living area, the other members having retired to their rooms to give them privacy. Selene sits on a couch, and both the boys settle on the couch across from her. Being face to face they could read her expression. They know, there is something pulling back Selene from giving in to the pull of the bond. Both the members have experienced how strong the pull is and they've seen Selene fighting against it. They just want to understand the reason behind that fight.
"So..." Selene starts, "What did you want to talk about?"
"First, I want to say sorry for that day," Jimin speaks, hanging his head low, not daring to meet her eyes, he didn't want to see any more hurt or anger in her eyes caused by him, "I was wrong to..." he drifts off, couldn't find the words to express himself due to the language barrier.
"To push me? stuffing your nose in my business?" Selene offers sarcastically. Jimin didn't understand the last part, but he did know whatever she meant was probably true.
He nods, "I am sorry, I will wait for you. I will learn." with determination, he finishes his apology. Jimin never wanted to be the reason for someone's hurt or problem, all he wanted was, for the people he loves to live happily. He also wanted a good relationship with his soulmate.
Seeing the way, Selene had accepted Jin as a friend, from being hostile to comfortable in his presence whilst still showing jimin the same hostility she had when she came to the dorm was eating away at him. His insecurities whispering in his ear that she might not want him as a soulmate, she might choose Jin. He knows he was wrong to raise such an incredulous question this early in their relationship, but he was blinded with envy at that moment, all rationality, all sense went out the window at that time.
And he faced the consequences for that, having her right in front of his eyes but not being able to talk, scared she will say the words he is most afraid of, and having her avoid him like a plague. But after much thought and some advice from Yoongi, he finally stepped up to ask her herself if she wanted him or not. Or will she choose?
"Okay," Selene nods, "I accept your apology, but on one condition. Neither of you will ever push me for something I don't want to share."
Both the boys agree instantly, they never wanted to make her upset again.
"Friends"
"Alright, was there something else, or should I go then?"
"um," Jin fishes out a paper from his pocket, they had asked namjoon to help them with translation, they didn't want any misunderstanding.
"You are fighting the bond, we can tell. why?" Jin reads from the paper, peering up at her.
"I...I just told you not to ask me something I don't want to share." her answer comes.
"But we think your past," Jin counters, "this has us too,"
"Me not wanting to give in to the pull does not have anything to do with either of you," she says, glaring at the men. "I told you Seokjin, You guys are not a factor in whatever I do."
Her response hurt and relieved them at the same time. But they understood, they only came into her life not a week ago, and they can't expect to play a role in her life so soon.
"Okay," they both nod, "Are you going to choose?" taking the paper from Jin, Jimin reads.
"Choose what?"
"between us." Jin clarifies.
"No? I didn't know I was supposed to." she frowns.
"aani, aani, No. I was just... I thought you will not want me when you have Jin hyung." Jimin explains flustering.
"Jimin, I told this to Jin as well, I am willing to have a friendly relationship for the sake of your and my health, but I don't think I'll be able to take any further steps."
Jimin nodded, every word tumbling down her tongue was like an arrow piercing his heart, but he swallowed every single one of them. Selene was in a way rejecting the relationship they wished to share with her, but he won't ask why now; after knowing the reason, maybe he'll understand, but for now, he'll have to settle with being her friend if it means staying by her side.
"Okay, friends?" he says, holding a hand out to shake.
"Friends." she takes his hand, smiling. "I'm glad you guys understood. I don't want any problems in the future. So as far as we're all clear, I've agreed to be your friend and nothing more."
Both boys nod, "We understand,"
Not wanting to let her go just yet, Jimin asks, "what you do?"
"Oh, I'm doing my Master's in astronomy, I have just taken admission in Seoul University. The classes will start from fall though, so I have the time to settle here." her reply comes.
"You come here for study?" Jin asks.
"No, I just came to travel, but I loved it here, so I decided to stay."
"What change your mind?" he questions further, intrigued.
"Everything about this city is amazing. When I came to Seoul, I fell in love with the culture, the people, and of course the food, the biggest factor was my place of solace, the Han river. I love that place."
"Woah, namjoon hyung also go there. He met you there." Jin says, making Selene frown.
"What?" she whispers.
"He tell us your name. You met him. You don't remember?" Jimin asks, tilting his head, a habit he does whenever he tries to understand something.
"I remember meeting someone, but I didn't know who he was." She says, mind elsewhere.
Standing up abruptly, she says, "I think I should sleep." disappearing down the hall, leaving both the men confused and wondering if they did something wrong again.
Not wanting to give in to negative thoughts, Jin and Jimin also call it a night. Retiring to their respective rooms.
"you look happy. It went well?" hoseok asks, seeing the small smile on his roommate's face. The latter, simply nods in reply, sinking into his mattress.
Jimin slips into the dreamland, thinking about the small progress he made with his soulmate today. He was happy that his fear didn't come true; she didn't reject him. There was still a chance. He had all the faith in the universe.

Pacing around my room, I was trying to process the fact that Namjoon knows about my past which means he probably has already told the other members. How could I have not remembered that it was Namjoon, now I know why his name and voice were ringing a bell.
I trusted him, he knew I was their soulmate, he told them my name, made me confide in himself, all just to betray me like that, to tattle behind my back to my soulmates.
I need to confront him, he told me to trust him, to trust a stranger but he wasn't one, was he? he knew me. He knew what I looked like, he knew my relationship with his member, and yet he showed himself oblivious, to me and to the situation. He feigned nonchalance.
Without thinking further my feet moved towards his room, I had no patience for this guy anymore. Showing himself trustful just to go stabbing behind others' backs. I need to know what he told Jin and Jimin.
I knock impatiently, not caring if I ruined his sleep. I needed answers, and I needed them now.
Namjoon opens the door, rubbing his eye with one hand as he looks at me, "Selene? what are you doing here?"
Pushing past him, I enter the room, "I had to talk to you,"
"Yeah, of course, what is it, what about?" he asks, closing the door.
"Why didn't you tell me we've met before," I ask, watching as his eyes go wide. He didn't expect me to know.
"I... I didn't think you'd remember me," he says,
"I didn't. Jin told me you met me at Han river." I tell him, "I trusted you that day Namjoon, I confided in you, and you represented yourself as a stranger. You betrayed me. I bet you couldn't wait to tell everything you learned to your members. How much have you spilled, huh? That my boyfriend of six years who was my childhood best friend left me just like that in the blink of an eye? Did you guys have a good time making fun of me?" by the time I finish my ranting, I was breathing heavily not because of lack of air no, I was angry. No scratch that I was furious and hurt.
"Selene, listen to me. calm down," he says gently, trying to calm me down. "I didn't tell anyone anything. Just your name and that I met you."
"You're lying! why would I believe you? you already knew who I was, why else would you ask me to trust you, to tell you my troubles, if not to pass it down to them."
"I didn't know who you were when I asked you your troubles, Selene. While I was leaving, I saw the mole under your left eye, so I asked Jin about it, and coincidently you turned out to be their soulmate. Trust me, Selene, I didn't tell them anything besides your name. I asked for your trust then, and I would lose a limb before losing that trust." he says sincerely, making me want to give him the benefit of doubt. Maybe he didn't tell them, maybe he kept his words.
"even if you didn't tell them, how does that benefit you?" I ask him skeptically.
"I don't need to be benefited from it, Selene. I am a man of my word, and once I give it to someone, I don't go back on it. I told you, your secret is safe with me, and it is. Unless you tell them yourself, they won't find anything out from me." he promises.
I look into his eyes, watching them pleading for me to trust him, to give him a chance. I nod, "Okay, I believe you." I give in. I know I shouldn't trust him, but I can't help but do. My heart is telling me to listen to him, to trust him.
"But you better not make me regret it," I said before storming out of his room. Even if I trust him, I will not let my guard down easily.
Tired, I fall into slumber as soon as I lay on my bed.
---------------
Everyone left before I woke up. Walking into the kitchen, I found a post note stuck on the fridge door,
"We had an early schedule, didn't want to wake you up. Breakfast is ready, Jin-hyung made pancakes. Have a lovely day, and eat well. We'll be back by 5.
Jin & Jimin~ <3"
Well, that's a good thing they did, not waking me up. I'm really not an early riser, I wouldn't have been surprised if I cursed at them.
Having breakfast by myself now seems not normal, I miss the chatter, the commotion, their bickering. I should be scared by how soon I got used to these guys.
After finishing my breakfast, I thought to continue my research of the guys I was doing before I was interrupted yesterday.
Maybe, I should track their journey from the start. I watch their debut music video, No More Dream. The song has a completely different vibe from the ones I watched yesterday, the boys look young too. Based on the release date, they would just have been teenagers. They must have worked so hard to execute this song perfectly at such young age. From the lyrics to the dance break, everything was mind-blowing.
Going further into their discography, I watch every single video of theirs by the release date. You could really see them improving with every comeback. I thought these guys were around for just a couple of years, but they have been in this industry for seven years already. Why did it take them so long to get the recognition they deserved then?
Having seen the music videos, I click on a fan-made documentary about how they become, to be where they are now.
I don't know if this is real, but it does look legit. I can't believe the past they endured. The amount of injustice and struggle they had to face was heartbreaking. I still don't know these guys well enough, but I can say with a guarantee that they did not deserve it. The hard work, the patience these guys put into their work. But because the industry was feeling threatened by the potential they had, everyone did them dirty.
My heart broke when they showed poor Jungkook being shamed, for thinking good for people. He bought him lunch, and them being the heartless mindless assholes, they did not just reject his gift but also disrespected him. If I could, I would throw hands with this man right now. I never want to see those pretty eyes glossy with tears again.
Not having the heart to continue, I shut down the laptop and get up to do some cooking to clear my mind.
---------------------------------------------------------------
I look around the kitchen, trying to find the ingredients for pasta, which weren't hard to find, thank god. It's been a while since I had something that tasted like home.
It doesn't take me long to make the pasta after getting everything ready. But after it was cooked, I realized that I made more than enough for one person. Deciding to leave the rest in the fridge, I take my plate and move toward the living room.
Whenever I can't eat alone, I eat on the couch with the T.V on. It makes it less lonely.
I put on Brooklyn 99, I needed something light after what I had seen before.
Getting my stomach full, I move to load in the dishwasher. I don't want them coming home to a messy kitchen. Looking at the clock, I see it's only three right now. There's still time left till they come back.
Deciding to sleep to kill some time, I go back to my assigned room, not before stubbing my toe on the large lamp in the hallway. motherfucker!
Lying in bed sleep doesn't come so easily, especially with so much going on in my head right now. All the information I just got to know about their past. Now that I think about it, the question Jimin asked about not choosing between him and Jin makes sense now. The guy had been insecure, thinking everyone was better than him, always estimating his worth less than theirs was something he struggles with since he was a trainee. That time I thought of his question as silly, but now it makes sense to me.
Another thing I learned from the video was how close the guys really are to each other. Always caring, supporting, and loving the other members but also not lacking to tease each other. Their dynamic is magnificent, to be honest.
Another thing I found through the video was the reason why everyone was so ecstatic when I defeated Jungkook in the match. The guy was the Golden Maknae. He is good at everything he does, or so the video said. And he is pretty competitive too, so he doesn't let anyone win easily. And when I won against him, the guys were happier to see Jungkook lose than me winning. They had something to tease him about. is it wrong to say that I'm jealous of their friendship at this point? I never experienced something like that except with eric and now I've lost the only best friend that I had.
Thinking about the boys, I don't even realize when I fall into the dreamland.
Lounging in the living room with all the boys, I was sitting in the middle of the sofa with Jimin and Taehyung on both sides, and jungkook was sitting near my feet. yoongi and hoseok on the lover's seat and namjoon and jin on the other sofa.
I was massaging kookie's head, while the boys were talking about their music. More like bickering and teasing each other on their new choreography.
"Did you see v-hyung's expressions? he was so extra," kookie said laughing, his bunny teeth on display.
"me? did you see Jiminie with his antics again?" Taehyunng counters, not wanting to be the center of the teasing.
"yah! jungkook-ah, you've gotten enough attention from her. move now." Jin says, tired of waiting for his turn.
"Five more minutes, hyung, please," Jungkook asks, pulling out his doe eyes.
Sighing, jin gives in, "okay, but only five more minutes, after that she's all mine." my cheeks turn scarlet at his words.
I feel a finger poking in my side, "jimin!" I say, turning towards him.
"I couldn't resist," he says, raising his hands up in surrender.
I feel a finger stroking my cheek as soft, plump lips are pressed beneath my left eye. I flutter my eyes open as I see midnight blue hair greeting my sight.
"what are you doing?"
Hearing my voice, he sits up straight, "I...I..umm. You call my name in sleep." he stutters.
"Okay, but what were you doing just now?" I ask again,
"umm.." not meeting my eyes, he says, "your mark? down eye is so pretty. I see more close,"
"Seeing it up close huh?" I raise an eyebrow.
"Sorry, I couldn't resist," he mutters in Korean. The words make my cheeks go red. Not wanting him to notice, I change the subject.
"When did you guys come back?"
"one hour before," he answers.
"Alright, since you've already freshened up, you go out, I'll come in a few." he nods, leaving my room.
I step into the kitchen, finding Jin behind the counter as usual,
"Oh, there's some pasta in the fridge," Jungkook says, as I take my seat.
"Selene must have made it," Jin answers.
"Can I eat it hyung?" he asks, pouting,
"You should ask her first," Yoongi chimes in, Jin nodding.
"Selene?" listening to his hyungs, he calls me.
"yeah?" I ask, looking over at him, pretending not to know anything.
"Pasta, can I eat?" he asks, cutely as if I would say no. I won't, but they don't know that. It's better that way.
"Sure," I nod. "Just be careful, I made it a little spicy."
Heeding the warning, I watch as he tastes a little of it before diving into it full force. Eating with an angry frown, "mmm... Mashita"
I smile, looking at his reaction, not just me seeing his reaction, but Jin and Jimin running over to him, asking for a bite.
"This is not done, I want to eat Selene's food too!" Jimin says, pouting when Jungkook refused, teasing his hyung.
"yah! let me eat!" Jin scolds the maknae.
"Selene, me too eat." after having been declined by the maknae, Jimin comes to me in hopes that I'll tell jungkook to give him some too.
Instead, I just shrug. Not wanting to meddle in between their business, I say, "Do not drag me into this. It's his choice now." raising my hands up in surrender.
After many pleas and making Jimin act cute and Jin make a monkey sound, the maknae finally let the duo eat some of the pasta with him.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Jimin was in his studio when Jin came to visit him asking him to be a guest on his Eat Jin today. Bickering and telling him not to mention something embarrassing, the last time Jimin appeared on Eat Jin was a year ago, that too without any prior notice.
The guys were just talking when their manager peeked into the studio,
"Oh good, you're both here," he says, fully stepping into the room.
"What is it, Hyung?" Jimin asks,
"The deal of the apartment you guys requested for Selene has been finalized. It will be ready for possession in a couple of days." Sejin informs them both.
"Wahhh! hyung! Thank you so much." Jimin says, smiling widely at Jin, who was mirroring his happiness. He knows she can't stay with them for more than a week now that she and Jin hyung are all better.
The day, Selene, came to the dorm, both the soulmates decided to buy an apartment in the same building and floor for her. They didn't want her to be a part of the headline of a scandal if she ever were to be caught with either of them. They knew introducing her to the public was inevitable, but they wanted to do it on their own terms, not under the pressure of a scandal and certainly not this early in their relationship.
After sejin left, Jin turns to Jimin, "Guess we can push the vlive for tomorrow, we should go home early today."
Informing the other members about their plans, both the boys leave for their dorm, excited to share the news with Selene. Granted, it was only an hour early than the rest of the boys, but they couldn't wait.
Entering the dorm, they found Selene on her laptop, watching something with her AirPods on. They call her but got no response. They go to stand behind her couch, trying to peek into what she was watching with such concentration and the answer had them cringing.
Jimin reaches out to shut her laptop, not wanting her to see his past self. He still didn't understand how did he have fans back then while looking like that.
Selene turns her neck towards them, a hand on her heart. Startled from the intrusion. Jimin watches her cheeks turning red at the sight of them both.
"what are you doing here?" she asks them.
"We come early. what are you doing?" Jin asks in return.
"I..um. I was bored, so I thought to watch some videos online."
"not look old videos. I show you new." Jimin says.
"Why?" she tilts her head,
"We look bad. fat," he replies. He doesn't want her to watch him chubby and fat.
"You don't!" She counters. "Anyway, was there a special reason for you guys to come back early, or you just finished your work early."
"Oh, yes yes. wait. we come and tell." Jimin says before they both shuffle down the hallway to freshen up.
Showering, Jimin decides it's time for him to give back Selene's necklace now. He has held onto it quite long for her. Putting the necklace into his pocket, he heads out. He just needs to find the perfect timing for it now.
---
Both the boys settle into their seats across Selene. Silence hangs in the room. She raises an eyebrow in question,
"Alright, enough of the silence. Can one of you tell me what it is already?"
"You have to go," Jin utters, and before he has time to explain further, Selene speaks,
"Are you kicking me out?" frown crowning her face.
"Aaaniyaa~" "No" both the boys choke out at the same time, panicked.
"Then?"
"Don't take wrong but, we buy you an apartment in building. this," Jin proclaims cautiously.
"What! why? This is absurd. Why would you buy me an apartment, I already have a place." She says,
"We know, but we can't be see with you in public," Jin tries to make her understand. One thing they figured about Selene in this week she's been here was that she's strong-headed and very stubborn. She will do only what she thinks is right.
It was essential for her to understand the reason behind their step.
"So? It's not like we will go out or something. You can just come to my place, or I can come here whenever we need a recharge." her words sting at their heart. They know by now that Selene has agreed to be even friends with them because they need each other and not because she wanted to.
"Selene, listen. We can not. Dispatch follow. They watch, they spread. We do not want it," Jin calmly explains to her.
"Well, I don't want that either, but I can't just let you buy me an apartment. And I just rented a place with a year's rent paid. what will happen to that!?"
Jimin knows her point isn't invalid, but still, her safety comes first, and they can ensure that if she stays near them.
"You want, you keep that place. But for your safety, you stay in this," Jin tells her, and surprisingly she nods, not arguing further. Shocked, both boys school their features.
"Good. I told Namjoon bring take-out." Jin informs them just as the bell rings.
Opening the door, Jimin is greeted with a fighting taehyung and jungkook. He sighs, taking away what he's sure is the root of the fight, and placing the take-out food on the counter.
He stalks into the living room to call Selene and Jin for dinner, stumbling into the side table on the way. Jungkook, who came just in time to witness another one of Jimin's clumsy moments laughs at him, earning a curse in return.
Getting up, he brushes off the incident as if nothing happened. Not bothering to acknowledge his fall, he moves ahead to call His Hyung-nim and Selene. Quickly telling them to get their asses to the kitchen table, he goes to taehyung, calling him from his room.
"It's alright Taehyung, You can send it to me. I'll have a listen." Jimin promises his friend, taking him out to the Kitchen for dinner.
His friend wanted to do some more work on his mixtape and skip dinner, but Jimin was having none of it. He didn't want his friend to get ill, So when Tae asked him to give some feedback on his song, he immediately agreed.
Skipping down the hall with his arm around Taehyung's neck, Jimin was humming the tune of scenery, when he heard her voice.
Bolting towards it, he found an astounded Selene, glaring at namjoon for some reason but as soon as she opens her mouth again, Jimin looks down at her hand, and the reason behind her expression becomes clear,
"What is this doing here?" She was holding her starry necklace.
----------------------------------------------------
Buying me a new apartment is absurd! but their reasoning is... well, reasonable. Just as much as they don't want to be caught by the media with me, I don't either. They are globally recognized, high profile, musicians. Almost everybody knows them, and if I got caught with them, I'll have to plan a funeral for my private life. Getting associated with them will totally destroy my privacy and peace. I never wanted to be a public figure, and neither do I want to be able to be recognized by so many people.
Lost in the river of my thoughts, I stub my toe into the sofa. Cursing, I sit down, grabbing my toe. Jin is by my side, wanting to inspect the damage, but I don't let him. It's nothing big, I know, but fucking hell does it hurt like hell.
A minute later, as the pain subsides, I try to get up when something shiny catches my eyes. Taking the object out from under the side table, I hold it in front of my face. Several emotions pass through me, confusion, hurt, shock, happiness, and memories before finally settling on one, Anger.
"How did this come here?" I ask nobody in particular. Not having gotten a response, I look around the room, catching Namjoon's eyes as I ask again a little louder,
"What is this doing here!?"
"Uhm, I..." Namjoon starts before getting interrupted by a voice.
I turn towards Jimin, "It fall by me," he admits,
"What was it doing with you in the first place?" I ask, but it doesn't make sense.
"Busan, market. We hit when we connect. I find it there," He explains, trying to get my temper down. I know I should be happy right now that I finally found it back after all this time, but the point isn't that.
I had searched for this all night and morning before finally giving up on any hope of ever finding it again, but now it turns out, all this time I cried over losing the last memory of my first love, it was lying in the pockets of my 'soulmate'.
"And you didn't bother to at least once mention that fact to me or give it back in this past week?" I spat at him sharply. "Not even after our truce that day? Just how many mistakes can a person make in a mere week, really?" he flinches, opening his mouth to say something, but I don't give him a chance,
I turned to Jin, "Did you know about it?"
I get my answer when he hangs his head, looking back at me with a guilty expression.
I chuckle menacingly, turning back towards Jimin.
"Tell me, did you ever want to return it? or you just wanted to keep it as a souvenir of the big moment in your life, huh?" I laugh, "It would have been one hell of a souvenir, the gift from the lover of your soulmate."
First, shock then, hurt flashed across his face, but that's what I wanted. To hurt him, the way I've been hurting, hurting from the guilt of having lost the most precious possession of Eric, the person I claim to love more than the world. If he had just given it to me when I came here, we both could have avoided the hurt, but he brought it on himself.
"You wanted to know who Eric is, right?" I tilt my head to the side, "He's the person I love, the person I wished for to be my soulmate, my best friend, my boyfriend of the last six years but guess what? The day I got the mark tying me to you, he left me. He left me because of you. That's why I never wanted to meet you, that's why I didn't want you. You, both of you, are the reason for my misery. If I could-"
"Enough!" a voice hollers, interrupting my ranting.
I breathe heavily before facing the owner of the voice.
He stalks towards me, bending down to my eye level. Eyes steel hard burning me with their glare. I lean back a little when he comes too close to my comfort.
Although a little intimidated, I don't let it show. Still, meeting his glare with my own.
"You have spoken enough, now shut your mouth and listen. I know you can understand Korean, so I won't bother with English. We have been nothing but kind and considerate to you since the day you came here while all you've given in return is cold shoulder and attitude," he says before continuing, shutting my attempt to speak anything.
"Listen and understand well, Your lover leaving you was on you and your lover. It had nothing to do with Jimin or Jin-hyung. If he didn't want to be with you after finding out you weren't his soulmate, that was his decision. Do not put the blame on them. Even after all the silent treatments and shutting out, they cared for you and treated you kindly. Did you even pause to think that maybe Jimin was just waiting for the right time to give it back after all the alone time you've been demanding? no? guess, you're not just a bitch but also a dense one at that."
"Taehyung!" Jimin shouts, before coming and standing in front of me as if to protect me from his friend, "what the hell are you saying!!?"
"She's being delusional, I'm making her see straight." I scoff.
"You can't talk to my soulmate like that, It's a matter between us, that you have no right to say in between!" putting Taehyung in his place, Jimin moves to turn around to me when Taehyung chuckles,
"I think I do," he says, removing his ring, and showing his hand.
I gasp in shock at what I'm seeing right now, as I stumble back into a hard body, hands grabbing my arms, supporting my weight.
Not just me, every other person in the room which was the rest of the boys, gasps. Too shocked to say anything. On his ring finger can be seen the same soul mark that does on Jimin and Jin's.
"Wha- ho- when!?" the question comes from jimin.
"The next day, she came here," he reveals.
What the actual fuck!
"No! NO! This isn't real. He must have copied it!" I say, jolting towards him as I grab his hand, trying to rub off the tattoo but, instead it starts to glow. Jerking his hand away, I slide down, the fat pearl of tears sliding down my cheeks, a pair of hands coming around me to comfort me.
How could this be happening to me right now? How many more surprises are there for the universe to keep rubbing on my wounds? How am I going to handle three soulmates!? There are millions of people dying to be their soulmates then why did it have to be me?
"For six days! For six fucking days you kept it to yourself. why didn't you say anything." Jimin blows out at Taehyung.
I can't do this! not right now, No. I need to get out of here.
Not paying much mind to the boys, I get up, stepping out of Jin's grip, and leave the room. I step into my shoes and leave the dorm quietly.
--------------------------------------------------------
"For six days, you kept this to yourself. why?" Jimin questions.
In the heat of the moment, he revealed that Selene is his soulmate too, but how is he going to explain the reason for not telling it sooner?
The moment he felt the subtle electricity passing through his hands when he touched Selene, trying to keep her from falling, replayed in his mind non-stop for the past six days. He knew at that moment; what had happened and what that meant.
As much as he wanted a soulmate, he didn't know how to broach the subject. His hyung-nim and Jiminie were already struggling to establish a relationship with Selene. He had witnessed the days after Selene and Jimin's argument. He saw how much his friend was hurting inside. He had seen the looks of jealousy on both their faces, and he knew somewhere within he was feeling the same.
Though, However much he wanted to stay away from her. Resent her. He couldn't. Seeing her hurt his members, his eyes would glare at her but in his heart was longing. Longing for his soulmate.
But despite the pull and longing, he would not accept a soulmate that would hurt his members. And that's what Selene did just now. She didn't think the impact or consequence her words would bring to their heart. No. She was furious over her former lover leaving her, and she just went ahead and put the blame of it on her soulmates, instead of bearing it herself or putting it on their fragile relationship.
Don't get him wrong, he was glad her former lover left her; otherwise, they wouldn't have been able to find her, but that doesn't mean he'll wait in a corner listening to whatever bullshit she spits out of her mouth towards his brothers.
The fury he felt towards her when he saw Jimin's glossy eyes, hurt by the words directed towards him. He never wanted to see Jimin hurting, or crying. His friend was a true angel, he couldn't hurt even a bug, for his heart was so pure.
He knew he shouldn't have said those words to Selene, it hurt him too, of course, but someone had to set her straight. Make her see rationally. She was far gone into her own misery that she knew she was hurting them but still doing it, even aiming to do it.
"I... I didn't want to cause more problems. She was struggling to accept two soulmates, how could I have said that she needs to worry about three soulmates instead?" I decide to go with the truth.
"Also, I didn't like the way she was treating you guys, If I had revealed myself to be her soulmate, she might even have gotten colder towards us."
"This doesn't work like that, Taehyungie. Do you think telling us like that was better?"
"No, of course not. But what would I have done? watch from the sidelines as she accused you of absurd things? How can I let someone go without consequences; who hurt you both? even if it's our own soulmate."
"Even if she is your soulmate Taehyung, that doesn't give you the right to speak between us," Jimin states, relentlessly.
Taehyung knew Jimin was mad at him because he hurt Selene, he couldn't bear to see his soulmate hurt, and neither can Taehyung himself, but his brothers were far more important to him than the soulmate with the nasty attitude he met with a week ago.
"She wasn't just saying that for you, Jimin-ah. She was cursing out her soulmates, and since I am one, even though she didn't know, it hit me too. I had to make her see reason before she said anything she would regret in the future." listening to this Jimin's eyes soften. He understood now. It wasn't just about him, Taehyung was protecting himself as well as Selene.
As the tension died down, Jungkook questions, "How did you know she understands Korean?"
"I have seen her reacting whenever one of us would remark something in Korean, she thought no one was looking, that she was being discreet," he shares.
He wouldn't admit it to everyone, but whenever he was in the same room as Selene, his eyes would never leave her frame; Watching, Observing, Drinking her in. Every move she made, every step she took, every expression that graced her face, he was scrutinizing everything.
There were moments she thought she was fooling us successfully, schooling her expressions but the way her cheeks would turn scarlet when Jin would compliment her in Korean and Jimin would cheekily throw a flirty comment towards her, thinking she wouldn't understand. She obviously did a good job since none of the other members caught onto her act, but her ears and cheeks betrayed her, showing him, her actual reaction.
There were times that he selfishly wondered what it would have been like if she was only his soulmate. And he knew he wasn't the only one that must have had those thoughts.
Truthfully, he still didn't know how he felt towards her. On one hand, he didn't like her one bit simply because of her actions and attitude towards the members, but on the other, the pull he felt towards her was like gravity. The attraction he had to her was like iron to a magnet.
He knows Selene isn't ill to her heart, he understands that she is going through a tough patch, and he would help her heal from it, he knows they all would, but only if she lets them in, and for that to happen, it was necessary to peel the curtains off her eyes. She still had some hope of getting back together with her ex-lover, and she had to be willing to move on from him.
Just thinking about the guy makes Taehyung's eyes grow red. He wasn't there that day when Jimin and Selene had the argument over that guy, or he too, like Jimin wouldn't have been able to tame his jealousy, asking questions about him, revealing himself to be her soulmate right then.
It's been two hours, and Selene still hadn't come back. They thought she went out for a walk to clear her head. But It's almost ten, and she isn't anywhere to be found. Her phone is switched off, and there is no way for the boys to contact her.
Jimin, Jin, Jungkook, and RM decide to go out to look for her.
"The four of us can cover more ground and find her faster." Namjoon states.
"I am coming too," Taehyung announces, determined. He could not leave his soulmate out on the cold streets while being cooped up in the warmth of the apartment himself. She didn't even take her coat for God's sake.
"No." Namjoon retaliates. "You should be here for if she comes back."
"But-"
Whatever he was going to say died when Namjoon spoke, interrupting him.
"Do you think she would come back with you after what happened? It's best if you stay here, taehyung-ah."
His shoulders sag visibly. He was right. Even if he found her, she would not come back with him. He had said so many hurtful words to her today, even called her a bitch. How could he call her that? He got so carried away in his anger that he lost his mind about what he was saying.
Now, he just wonders if she will ever forgive him. If they will ever be able to build a relationship.
----------------------------------------------
I don't know where I am going. I just let my feet carry me out of that place. I could not for another second have been in there, listening to taehyung.
All I wanted at this moment was to run away. Run away from my problems, my feelings. The ache I feel in my heart; that has been there for the past months.
Even if I wanted to ignore his words, Taehyung was right. I was holding onto the hope of getting back with Eric. I thought if we could keep our soulmates around as friends, we could be together, and no one would be facing the consequences of rejecting a soulmate.
Through my teary gaze, I recognize the path I was walking on; I moved in the direction of the only place that could calm me down right now.
Ever since my and Eric's break up, everyone has told me to accept my fate and give my soulmate or, in this case, my soulmates a chance. But how could I when my heart was not ready to let go? It was still grasping onto the memories Eric and I made, Our moments of comfort, love, and fights. All this seemed too hard to disregard and move on in just a matter of a couple of months.
Maybe in a year or two, I would be able to move on, and make new memories but, right now is too early to do so; the wound is still fresh.
Reaching my destination, I take a seat on a bench nearby, looking up at the sky.
Taehyung thinks I will go back to Eric if he accepts me, but it's not true. Even if it's true that I still hoped to get back to him, I was hurt. Angry. Eric threw our relationship away in just a matter of seconds. I needed him when my world was lost from its axis, not as a boyfriend but as a friend. My best friend. We had been friends long before we turned into a couple. But he showed me his back that moment. He not only disrespected me and our relationship, but he disrespected our friendship.
I used to put him on such a high pedestal, but the way he cut all his connections to me that day broke me. It broke my trust. On love, on friendship.
So no, no matter how much I want him, I will not take him back just like that. He will have to face the consequences of his actions.
And the way Teahyung spoke to me, called me a dumb bitch. How dare he? He doesn't know a thing about me, and he dares to judge me.
How did UNIVERSE even deem him, to possibly be a match for me? All he's done, this past week was give me stink eyes and glares from across the room and then lectured me right before announcing that he's my soulmate.
Seriously, how many soulmates can a girl even have? Even if I accepted them wholeheartedly, how would I have juggled between them? Just thinking about it seems like a lot of work.
Too lost in my thought, I don't register the footsteps approaching me until I hear the voice,
"Finally! there you are." Namjoon comments as he comes to sit beside me.
"what are you doing here?"
"Looking for you, what do you think?" he sasses me.
"Why? I wanted to be alone, that's why I came out here,"
"It was getting late, everyone was worried for you. So we decided to go look," he informs me.
I turn towards him, "oh yeah? they were worried? It's barely past ten."
"It's going to be midnight soon, Selene. And yes, WE were all worried."
At his comment, I check my phone only to find it out of battery. Catching on my actions, Namjoon shows me his own, and sure enough, it was 11:42.
I sigh, mulling over my thoughts; I totally lost the track of time. Just then, the words he just spoke registered in my brain.
"We?" I ask him,
"yeah, we were all worried, Selene. you live with us that means you are under our care, and we can't let anything bad happen to you, also the members care for you."
"How did you find me here anyway? and where are the others?"
"We split. I thought you might be here. When I'm in need to calm myself or need comfort, this is the place I go to. And after seeing you here that day, I thought it might be the same for you too. I didn't tell the others because I thought you needed time before facing them, but I couldn't let you be by yourself as well."
"If you've come here to take me back, then I won't. I'm not going back there just yet. If this is too important, Jin and Jimin told me that the apartment next to yours will be ready in a couple of days, I'll move into that directly. I am not going to live under the same roof as them again," I tell him bluntly.
I know he's their friend, and he would want the best for his brothers, but I can't do this right now. I can't face Taehyung or the others. I didn't want so many soulmates in the first place, It's not on me.
"I didn't," Namjoon speaks.
"What?" I ask him, confused.
"I didn't come here to take you back Selene. I came here to see if you were alright. We can go back whenever you want." He clears.
"We?"
"Yes, we. I told you I can't let you be by yourself like this. And if you won't go back, where will you stay?"
"You know I have a place right? I rented an apartment not long ago,"
Namjoon nods, "So are we going to head there, or do you want to stay here a bit longer?"
"I will stay a little while longer. And Namjoon, I might be a foreigner, but I can take care of myself, you don't need to stay with me." I assure him.
While his offer was more than kind, and he's proving to be a friend to me right now, I need to be alone. Thankfully he understands as he gives me a nod, telling me it will be fine.
"But I'll need to know where you live. I swear I won't tell the boys, but I need to make sure you're okay." he counters, and I give in.
I appreciate his efforts and thoughts of course, but I need time to think. And the peace of these couple of days will be all I will have. After that, I will have to face them again; all three of my soulmates, with a decision. The decision of- if I can let them in my life or will I call it quits after sealing our bond.

Two days later, I find myself in front of their apartment again.
Not only because the distance from my soulmates was taking a toll on my body, but because I had reached a decision.
I ring the bell. Even after staying at this place for a week, I didn't know the passcode. But well, I didn't need to since I never went outside the dorm.
Brown eyes greet me as the door opens, but the usual steel-hard glare was missing. Instead, his eyes refused to let any emotion seep out as soon as he registered my face.
"Hi, I uh, can I come in?" I ask him, and he moves over in response.
As soon as I step into the apartment, I asked him, "Are Jin and Jimin here?"
"In their rooms," he replies shortly. I expected him to call them out, but he shifted to the kitchen, not sparing me another glance.
I scoff at his behavior, I still don't understand what his problem is. He is acting like I am the one who called him a bitch.
Rolling my eyes, I move to their bedrooms.
Even if I still don't like Taehyung, he did make me ponder on the words I said that night and the words he said to me. As much as I don't like that he called me a bitch, I think he was right about the other stuff.
I was not treating Jimin and Jin right. Not the way they deserved to be treated. Even after all of my cold attitude and snappy behavior, they cared for me, stood by me, and when Taehyung was insulting me, Jimin stuck up for me, even after I had just embarrassed him in front of his members. They didn't care about anything but my well-being.
Both the guys had been calling me several times these past two days, texting me- asking if I was alright and that they're sorry. When I had read that text, I laughed like a madwoman. What were they apologizing for? I was the one that did them wrong. I was the one who didn't give Jimin time to explain about the necklace. I was the one at fault for everything that had been going on in our friendship.
I knock at Jimin's door first. I owe him an apology the most.
"Come in!" he calls over from the other side.
I open the door, finding him- laying on the bed on his stomach, his face hidden in the pillow.
I move to sit on the bed beside him, his back facing me.
When I don't say something, he turns around, and as soon as his eyes see that it's me and not one of his members, he sits up straight.
"Selene!? What-"
"I came to apologize." I interrupt him.
"You don't need to." he comes closer to me.
"Yes, I do. I was blinded by my anger and guilt that day that I neglected your feelings. You were in no way wrong, and I couldn't see it, and I'm sorry for that. I'm sorry for the way I reacted not only that day but also for the whole week. I'm sorry for blaming you for my breakup, and I'm thankful. I'm thankful that you kept my necklace safe, you could have thrown it away, you were in no way obligated to keep it, especially when you weren't sure that it was mine. Thank you Park Jimin, for everything." I reach out and cover his hand with mine, not once meeting his eyes.
He slides his hand from mine, and for a second, I think he won't forgive me, he'll throw me out of his room but instead, he wraps his arms around me, making me freeze.
Alright, I was not expecting that.
"You don't need to thank me, Selene, we're connected on a much deeper level. We're connected by our souls, I will always take care of you." He murmurs in Korean, now that they know that I can understand their language, I'm sure, it's going to be a common occurrence.
When I don't hug him back he backs off, "I understand if you still don't accept us, I am fine with staying friends."
I shake my head, "No, I may not fully accept you just yet, but I'm willing to try. I'm ready to give this a chance." I promise him, and his face breaks into the brightest smile, eyes turning into crescent moons. I swear that was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
"I don't need anything else," He says, and I give his hand a squeeze.
"Well, I need to make another apology stop, but I should tell you since I accepted your offer of the apartment next door, I'll move into it tomorrow." saying this, I turn around- moving out of his room and towards Jin's.
I knock on the door, and not a second later, the door opens. An expression of surprise crosses the handsome face of my soulmate before he schools his features and his eyes start to assess me worryingly, "Are you ok?"
"I am okay, Jin." I smile, even after all I said to him that day, the first question he asks me is if I'm okay.
"Can I come in?" With my question as if he came back down to earth, he moves aside.
Stepping into his room, I turn back around to him as he closes the door.
"I called you," he comments. I know what he wants to know, what am I doing here if I didn't answer his calls or texts? And I wanted to, God help me, I wanted to, but I didn't know what to say to them. I didn't want to apologize on the phone, and I did not have the courage to come back here until now.
"I know," I reply softly, deciding to tell him the truth I begin, "After all I did, I didn't have the courage to face you again."
"Then why are you here again?"
"I- I wanted to apologize."
"I worried. What if something happen-" he stops mid-sentence, shaking his head. "I just got you, I can't lose you." he looks at me with so much intensity I could break right there.
"I'm sorry-"
"I don't want your sorry, Selene. I want you to not be reckless. I want you to stay. To take responsibility." he interrupts me.
"And I will. I am here to tell you that I will try to accept our fate. To accept you," Hearing my words, he freezes.
"Chin-ja?" he asks, and I nod.
"Thank you," he says. I shake my head.
"You don't need to thank me Jin, I need to thank you for taking care of me. And I apologize. For blaming you that day. For saying those words to you. You did not deserve them, and I'm sorry for that."
"It's okay. You were mad. Hurting. I'll gladly take any of your blows if it means sparing you of that hurt." Tears stung in the back of my eyes, hearing his words.
I lower my head, not wanting him to see me like that. But it's too late as I feel arms wound around my body. And with that hug, I let all of the past frustration, anger, and hurt go. I didn't want my past shadowing my future now. Now that I have finally decided to give them a chance, I didn't want anything to get in between it.
But as I said before, declining my prayers and requests must be the favorite pastime of the Universe.
-------------------------------------------------------------
I don't move from my spot even as my tears dry. The solace of his arms was like when the warm sunlight embraces you after a cold night. Jin doesn't move back as well, knowing I needed the comfort.
Tipping my head back to look into his eyes, wanting to thank him for his kindness, but as he matched my gaze, my mind goes blank. Just as several times before, I get lost in the ocean of his eyes. They always had this little thing about them, like as they meet my eyes; they shine a little brighter as if the whole universe can be seen in them.
I didn't know if it was the heat of the moment or the pull of our souls, but we slowly started to lean in, my gaze now on his lips. I could feel my heartbeat rising by the second, yet I could do nothing to slow it. My mind only had one thing playing, and that was Jin. His sweet vanilla scent. The warmth of his touch.
I look back into his eyes which were still fixed on my lips, but as if he could sense my calling, he looks up into mine. Asking the question, I, myself didn't have an answer to.
The knocking on the door interrupts us before I could grant him the permission.
Although Jin doesn't move back, still holding me in place, he asks, "Who is it?"
"Hyung, I'm sorry to interrupt but is Selene in there?" Namjoon calls over from the other side of the door.
"Yes, You need something?" He asks back.
"Uh, I needed to talk to her. Do you think I can borrow her for a second?"
"Wait," Jin tells him before looking at me, "You want to talk?"
"Sure, I'll see what he needs," I say, stepping back from his embrace.
He nods, as he moves to open the door. "Are you hungry? Did you eat anything?"
"Uh, A little? I didn't have breakfast,"
"Why? you should not skip breakfast, it's the most important meal of the day!" He scolds me.
"I just wasn't feeling very well," I shrug. It was just a little soul-sickness since I went without any contact with my soulmates for two days straight. I consulted the doctor, Mr. Choi because I was sure it wasn't supposed to take effect that quickly, he told me since I had more than one soulmate, being distant from all of them at the same time caused the soul-sickness so quickly.
But guess telling him about me being unwell was a big mistake because faster than light, he was by my side after opening the door; startling Namjoon with his worry, checking me for any signs of sickness.
"Why? what happened?"
"Nothing, it was just because of the distance, now I'm good. Thanks to you," his ears turn red at the mention of our almost kiss.
"What? what?" Namjoon asks from the door.
"Nothing. You wanted to talk?" I change the topic.
"Oh, um, yeah. Can you come with me?"
"Sure." I turned to Jin, "I'll catch you later."
"I'll make you something," he says, and I nod.
Turning to Namjoon, he leads me out the door. But my mind is still in the room, with Jin. I'm not sure if I wanted that kiss to happen just yet, but I couldn't fight against the pull as well, which was only heightened by our touch. Had Namjoon not interrupted us, I'm sure we would have sealed our bond, and completed it.
I just decided to give them a chance, give us a chance. I didn't want to go so fast. I want things to happen at their time not rush them. And I'm sure Jin would agree.
Lost in my thought, I didn't register when we're out on the balcony. I look over at Namjoon, only to find him already looking at me expectantly.
"I'm sorry, what were you saying?" I sheepishly ask.
"Please don't take me otherwise, but I have a theory, or maybe would be a better word,"
"Okay... What is it?"
"I think you're my soulmate." He says, and my breath gets caught in my throat. What!!?
When I don't say anything, he holds his hand out, asking for my hand. But how, I already have three soulmates, and that is as far as the soulmate groups have gone. There had not been a case of the same person having more than three soulmates. So how can he be mine, right? And even if for a second I pretend that he is one of my soulmates, how will I juggle between four soulmates? Three was already too much.
And Namjoon, he has kinda taken the role of my friend ever since I got here. Knowing my past and even going as far as to hide it from his brothers, endangering his own friendship with them. If he is willing to accept me still, maybe I should too.
"Are you sure?" I ask him hesitantly.
He starts to lower his hand, a dejected look settling over his eyes.
Fuck it!
Maybe him being my soulmate wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. I only have to gain. I reach out and hold his hand, which was a lot bigger than mine but, somehow it molded into his perfectly. And then I feel it, my first ever link of souls where I'm aware of it actually happening. I don't need to look at his finger to see the star sitting on it, I don't need him to tell me that he's my soulmate. I can feel it, and looking into his eyes, I know he can too.
A dimpled smile takes over his features as he looks at our joined hands. I look over at them too. And with the slowest of movements, he moves his hand and intertwines our fingers. The touch was torturously intense that I could feel my heart fighting to stay inside my rib cage, butterflies dancing inside my stomach.
The heat of his eyes was too much for me to handle but at the same time, all strength to move them had left my body. I didn't know what was happening. At this moment, only we mattered. Together. As I said before, gaining him as a soulmate wouldn't be so bad. Not bad at all.
The pull between our souls, working harder than ever. Lost in our own little world, we didn't know which one of us crossed the distance between our bodies, but right now, there wasn't much of it left. One more step and I would be flush against him. I had to crane my neck to look up at him, his eyes shining so brightly as if stars in a night sky.
"Selene, food is ready!" Jin's voice booms over. Startling us, causing us to fling away from each other. I pat down my hair consciously. I know there was nothing wrong with them; I just needed something to do with my hands.
As Jin comes into view, he sends us a questioning gaze, "Why are you smiling?"
Hearing him, my hands automatically reach up to touch my face, and sure enough, I was smiling. I didn't even realize!
He looks over at Namjoon, who all but shows him his ring finger in response, causing the elder to freeze in his spot.
"What the-!??"

"Mmm...uau! I don't think I'll ever be tired of your cooking. It is soo good!" I comment. Mouth full of the delicious stew he cooked. Honestly, if he wasn't a singer, he could have been a chef.
"Gomawo. I can cook you whatever you want." Jin offers with a smile.
"Careful, I might take you up on that offer." I tease with a pointing look.
"You are welcome to." He replies from across me with Jungkook and Hoseok sitting on both sides while Jimin and Namjoon take up the space on my sides and Taehyung sits beside Namjoon. Yoongi isn't home; he really is missing out on some good food.
When Jin saw the mark on Namjoon's finger, he was surprisingly cool with it, even happy: dare I say. Jimin and Taehyung don't know about it yet, but something tells me Jimin might have a similar reaction to Jin, and well, I don't know Taehyung enough to be predicting his reaction.
"Yah! Namjoon-ah, don't you have something to tell?" Jin says suddenly, catching me off guard. Is telling them while eating a good idea? I don't want to be presumptuous, but I mean, what if they don't like it? I hope they don't leave the table.
"Hmm..." Namjoon voices out, trying to chew faster so he could tell. "Guess I wasn't wrong." he displays his finger again with a shit-eating grin on his face. Wait, wasn't wrong? Did he tell them already?
"What do you mean?" I ask, my eyebrows shifting into a frown as I turn to him. But he isn't the one answering my question.
"Namjoon hyung told us yesterday that he had a hunch you might be his soulmate too. He was telling us before to see if we had a problem if you were," Jimin reveals.
"And what did you say?" my eyebrow raised.
He leans in closer to me as if sharing a secret that is meant to stay between us only, and whispers, "I'll tell later," and he winks.
Uhh... alright...? I look away from him trying not to blush.
I turn back to Namjoon, "How did you even know, though?"
His eyes glaze over to me, "Are you telling me that you didn't feel it? You didn't feel the pull whenever you were near me? Because I did, and at first, I was so confused because I thought it was attraction. But how could I be attracted to my brother's soulmate? However, later after some research, I got to know that it might be a sign of soulmates." he shrugs.
He is asking me if I felt the pull, and to be honest, I did. But I didn't dwell on it as he did. I just shrugged it off since it wasn't something I felt with him only. I felt that way when I was with any of the seven.
Wait. a. damn. fucking. Second.
Does that mean what I think it does? Are all of them my soulmate? Do they know that I am their soulmate? Should I ask? No. that would be too weird, and I'm not ready to make any more connections. The doctor said my three connections were the reason for the early sickness, and I just connected with Namjoon. But they have been waiting too long for their soulmate. Is it fair to keep it from them when I know? How should I approach the subject? Or do I just go all in and rip the band-aid off?
We quietly finish our dinner, the boys wanted me to stay the night since I just connected with Namjoon, and we need proximity and body contact.
"Guys, If I am going to move to the next apartment tomorrow, I need to go back and get everything ready." I counter their requests.
"you don't have to do that. We can take care of your moving." Namjoon states.
"And you fell ill yesterday. I don't want that again. You are going to stay here, and that's final." Jin speaks in a final tone, leaving no room for argument. Still, I try.
"But there's no room; where would I sleep even if I stay." I shrug.
"One of us can bunk with another. You can have that room." Namjoon offers.
"I can't let you guys do that. You should sleep in your own bed." I begin.
"It's alright, Selene. Really. Some of us sneak into each other's room all the time anyway." He assures me, and I sigh. Guess there's no out now.
"A La Mierda, Alright," I reconcile, and they break into cheers as if they won a lottery and not got me to stay the night.
---
I toss and turn, but it's as if my mind doesn't know the concept of sleep. The realization of today has my mind running at full speed. How could I have missed it? I had felt the pull towards all of them, yet even while it was so obvious, I had failed to understand it.
I have seven soulmates, and I can't digest that fact. I was worried about juggling three soulmates. It turns out that would have been much easier than juggling seven. Or maybe, I’m wrong, maybe I’m thinking too much about this.
Sighing, I get up and move out of the room.
As the boys promised, I was staying in Jin's room while he was bunking with Jungkook. The latter obviously had no problem with it.
I go to the kitchen to fetch a bottle of water and make my way towards the balcony. If I can't sleep, at least I'll gaze at the stars. But as I slide the balcony door, I see that I am not the only one awake at this hour of the night.
"Hey, trouble sleeping?"
He looks up from the book in his hand and looks up at me, "Hi, kinda." he shrugs. "What are you doing up?"
"Can't sleep." I take a seat beside him, offering him the bottle of water. He shakes his head in refusal.
"What are you reading?" I ask, wanting to get my mind off things.
"Almond by Won-Pyung Sohn. Do you read?"
"No. Never tried." I answer, and he nods as silence follows.
I gaze up at the night sky, trying to find comfort in the constellations.
"You have completed your bachelor's, right?"
"Mm-hmm."
"Any future plans?" he asks and I tell him all about how I decided to do my masters here at Seoul university.
"Oh? what will you be mastering in?" His eyes meet mine.
"Astronomy. I love the space and secrets in its vastness." I shrug.
"Wow, You always had an interest in it, or is it newfound?"
"I've always found it interesting. My mom used to look up at the stars whenever she remembered her soulmate. So I started finding comfort in it too."
He nods, "You know, You don't look Spanish."
"Because I'm not," I tell him deadpan.
"Huh?" he tilts his head in confusion.
"Yeah, I'm adopted. I am originally from India. My mother adopted me when I was just a baby."
"Oh."
"Hmm."
We both get back to our respective hobbies. My mind, once again racing with hypothetical questions.
How will they react when they find out?
What if they don't want to share me with others?
What if I become the reason for them drifting apart?
"You good, Selene? What are you thinking?" the question pulls me out of my thoughts.
"Huh?"
"You're gripping the chair a little too hard, and your leg is bouncing. You're anxious. Why?" I stop bouncing my leg and look down at my hand, which had turned white from the hard grip. I lose my grip.
Should I tell him? He has proven himself, and he might give me an insight into how the boys might react.
I take a deep breath, ready to bear my mind to him and open my mouth but close it again.
I don't know how to word what's going on inside my head.
"What is it, Selene? Tell me. Maybe I might help?" He looks at me with concern.
"Okay," I nod. "You asked me at the dinner table if I felt the pull towards you, and the answer is yes."
"Okay...why does it trouble you?"
"That is the thing. I felt that way with all of you. The pull, I felt it whenever I was near any of you." I say, and his face gets morphed into one of confusion.
"Wha- What do you mean?" he asks.
"I think all of you are my soulmates." There. I said it.
I try to interpret his expressions. My connected soulmate goes into the mode of realization as if he had missed something obvious.
"Oh shit!" He says as he looks over at the horizon, thinking.
I fidget with my fingers, waiting for him to step out of his mind.
"How do you think they'll react to this if they find out?"
Namjoon clears his throat, "I think Jungkookie will be happy, though I cannot say about the other two. Yoongi-hyung was waiting for his soulmate as well, but I don't how he will react when he finds out he'll have to share them with all his members."
I nod, mulling over his words. I was the most afraid of his reaction. I have had the least interaction with him. What if he would want nothing to do with me?
"Well, I do have one question I had been pondering over the whole day." he voices out, catching my attention.
"What is it?" I match his gaze.
"Just a couple of days ago, you were cursing out your soulmates for getting between you and your ex-boyfriend. What happened that you are so willing to accept them now?" I smile.
"My mother. That's what happened."
"She convinced you to give us a chance?" he asks.
I chuckle, "No, nothing is that simple with her."
I was scrolling through my Instagram when my mother's name pops up on the screen. I accept the call.
"Hi, mama. How are you?" I say into the receiver.
"I should be asking you that. How's my baby?"
"I'm good, mama. All better."
"And how are your soulmates?"
"I don't know. I came back."
"Why? Do you want to get sick again? Do you not care about me at all? let alone yourself?"
"They lied to me, mama. They had my necklace all this while, and not once they thought to give it back. And then one of their members steps up, curses me out, and announces that I am his soulmate."
"What? Another one?"
"Yeah, I can't deal with them anymore. I tried because you said so. I will go there tomorrow to seal my bond and then move on with my life."
I hear her take a deep breath on the other end before she speaks,
"Mi Hija, these are your soulmates we are talking about, not a crush."
"I know, Ma-"
"No, listen here, young lady, and do not interrupt. I had been where you are, I never wished for a soulmate. I didn't believe in love. But he wore me down, and when I finally did allow him in my life, made a place for him in it, did I know what it was to really live. I thought I was happy alone, but he was the one who showed me what true happiness was. He brought colors into my life and took them back when he left. For two years, Selene. It took him two years to get my yes, but when I look back at that time, I see nothing but the two more years I could have been happy with him. I wish I could go back and change the past. I would never show him any attitude or reject him to his face. That was the time I regret the most and, you will too because you guys are destined to be together, maybe you can push it but, you can't erase what is written. Whether now, or later it will inevitably happen. So, do not waste the time you have with them, Sel. You don't know what might happen tomorrow. I know it's cringe but Seize the day, my baby. Do not give yourself a chance to regret the decisions you make now, in the future."
By the time my mother finished her speech, tears were running down my face. I never knew their story went like this. I only knew from when they actually started dating.
"Give them a chance, Sel. You will know why they are your other halves. Open your heart for them, and you will feel that's where they belonged."
Maybe she is right; the boys have been nothing but good to me since the start, always taking care of my needs. Even when Taehyung snapped at me, Jimin stood up for me. Giving them a chance might not be the end of the world.
With the smallest voice, I choke out an Okay.
"Take care, baby." She cuts the call.
"With the whole day of pondering over her words, I came to the decision of giving us a chance. But how will things go when there are seven of you and only one me?"
"Firstly, I would like to thank you for giving us this chance. I promise you none of us will let you down. And I don't know, if the universe has arranged this cluster, it will show us the path too. We just need to let things happen. We are destined for one another, but that doesn't mean it won't take effort. I am willing to give this relationship my hundred percent." He finishes with a promise.
I smile, "Me too. As my mother said, I don't want any regrets."
He laughs as he covers my hand with his. Intertwining our fingers, he says, "No regrets."
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Can you pass me the ladle?" Jin asks, adding the spices to his fried rice.
"A second," I reply. Washing my hands, I pass the ladle to him.
"So, is this your specialty dish?" I ask him.
Jin and I are making breakfast, while the other members are still sleeping. After my talk with Namjoon last night, I had finally gotten some sleep. But not for long. I was awake before the sun came up, and when I heard the sound of footsteps passing my room, I went out to see Jin was getting ready to make breakfast, and since I didn't have much to do and wanted to get my mind off things, I decided to help him.
"Yeah, kinda."
I hum as I watch him working in the kitchen, sauntering around to get the things he needs. Granted, I said I'll help him but watching him cook is much more fun and captivating.
"We should wake the others; it'll be ready soon," he says as he smells the dish. I move forward to do the same, and heaven's angels; the rice smells so good, and water starts pooling in my mouth.
I turn to him, praises on my tongue, but as I open my mouth to spew them out, he sticks a spoon in my mouth, letting me taste the magic of his cooking.
I moan at the rich taste of the dish.
"Mmm... How are you not a chef? So good."
"Because I'm a better singer than a Chef." He says, winking, and I laugh.
"No doubt there, sir."
We're both laughing when suddenly a soft voice startles us, "Hyung!" making us spring apart from each other. I'm not sure either of us realized closing our distance. The pull of souls is stronger than ever. Perhaps because I'm not trying to fight against it.
I turn around to see Taehyung with his usually impassive face as he shifts into the kitchen to wish his hyung good morning and goes back out to the living room; without even sparing me a glance.
When I look back at Jin, he gives me a look but doesn't say anything.
Soon enough, all the boys start to come in, piling into their seats. Jin and I take our seats as well.
As soon as I sit, Jimin's head is on my shoulder from my other side.
"Uh, what are you doing?" I ask him with a little smile on my face.
"I'm sleepy." He mumbles and continues to sleep on my shoulder.
I shake my head, "You need to eat."
"Two minutes." He says, getting comfy.
"Alright." I look around the table, not seeing yoongi.
"Where's Yoongi?" I question.
"He came back late, Still sleeping," Namjoon replies.
"He should eat but." I counter.
"He will after he wakes up. He doesn't like anyone disturbing his sleep." He says, and I sigh. He's right. I shouldn't disturb his sleep; I don't have any right. Not one they are aware of anyway.
The breakfast goes smooth after that. Three of my connected soulmates shower me with attention while the fourth maintains his impassive face while looking at our exchange.
"Here" I extend my hand to him.
"What!?" he looks at my hand and then my face with big eyes and cheeks full of rice.
I try not to smile and with a straight face mumble, "I don't want us to fall sick. So, please hold my hand"
after taking his hand in mine, I turn back my attention to my other soulmates.
---
"Hey, don't touch it!" I slap Jimin's hand away, taking the notebook myself and packing it in the box labeled important.
As the boys promised, they asked their manager to help me get my stuff moved, and Jimin being Jimin, decided to come with me.
We pack my stuff as the movers their manager hired; take the packed boxes to the vehicle. I didn't know we could hire people to move our stuff. It's great. In fact, I didn't need to come here at all. They could have packed my stuff as well while I chilled in the dorm, but I insisted on coming and doing it myself. I am not fond of it when other people touch my stuff.
"Why didn't you tell us you can understand Korean?" Jimin asks, taping the boxes that have already been stuffed. He wanted a job, and since I didn't want him touching my stuff, I got him to pack the boxes.
"I think it's pretty obvious why I didn't tell you," I put the last of my stuff away. Since I didn't come here with much of it, packing didn't take much time either. It was the furniture and the other things I bought here that needed a hand.
"I don't know. You tell me." Jimin contradicts.
Sighing, I look at him, "I didn't want you to know because I didn't trust you. I wanted you to talk freely in front of me to your friends and see what you thought. I wanted to see behind the mask you guys would put on for me. Now you know. Happy?"
"Aani. No. I can understand it, but it still hurts, so no, I'm not happy. But I'm glad that I know it." He says with a pout. The urge to kiss that pout is too strong, but we're not there yet, and I know it's the pull more than my own inner affection. That's how it works. The pull between the bonds works hard to turn the connected bonds into sealed bonds, but I won't let it get in between our paces. If we do take a step forward, that would be because we wanted to, not because of the pull.
I step back into the living room after checking if there is anything left to pack, as Jimin finishes taping the last box. He looks up, spotting me, "You know, Rapmon-Hyung has the same plant. His is bigger than yours, though."
I look down at the Bonsai plant in my arms. "Huh? Guess we do have something in common."
We leave the place to step into my new life, literally and figuratively. I don't give back the key, though. I had paid a year's rent, and I will keep it till then. If I needed an escape from my seven soulmates, I think I should have a place for it.
Jimin and I talk the rest of the way. He thanks me again for giving them a chance and shares some stories of their debut days.

Summary: He took big strides, halting right in front of me as he bends to my eye level, causing me lean back a little. I could feel his breath fanning my face, looking into his eyes, I could see a storm of anger into them.
"We have been nothing but considerate of you and your feelings, while all you've given in return is rejection and cold shoulder since day one." He grits out.
when Selene's 22nd birthday doesn't go as she expected, her world turns upside down, making her resent her soulmates. Will she ever come to accept them in her life or will she continue to run away holding onto her past love?
Bouncing his leg up and down, chewing on the pen, he couldn't help but wonder what was happening across the hall.
With a sigh, he slams his pen down on the table, getting up to pace around the room.
Taehyung was trying to concentrate on his music, wanting to take his mind off the fact that the other members were in Selene's new apartment, trying to help her settle in, but the thought of everyone with her: enjoying, and making new memories was unsettling to him.
Not because he didn't want to share her or was possessive over her, but because he wasn't there with them, he won't be included in those memories.
Setting his ego aside, he finally gives in to the urge to stalk across the hall. However, voices could be heard even outside her apartment since the door wasn't locked. And Taehyung could perfectly recognize those voices and what they were saying as he approached the place.
"Hey, is this you?" Jimin asks, most probably to Selene.
"What? Heyy! Give that back! You're not supposed to see that just yet!"
"Oh no, No. Others need to see this." Jimin says, just in time for Taehyung to watch the further occurrence from the doorway. The scene had his steps halted and jaw clenching.
Jimin was running around the messy sitting room while Selene chased him, swearing at him while they both laughed. They looked like a normal, happy couple there, and Taehyung was happy for his friend but what had him step back and turn around to go back to his own place was not the thought of giving them privacy but the fact that, he too, wanted to be included in her life but was afraid of the rejection.
This wasn't the first time he had caught Selene with his members and one of her other soulmates. Just this morning, Selene was happily cooking together with Jin; the way her aura glowed with serenity and happiness was a rare sight to see. One he had never had the luck to see before then. Not just that, but he had also seen her talking with Namjoon at the ungodly hour of the night. Both, getting to know each other and sharing their troubles. He hadn't meant to eavesdrop but overheard that her mother was the one who convinced her to give them a chance. He was so thankful for her mother but couldn't help being jealous of their relationship. Out of all of them, Namjoon would be the one who knows Selene even just a little.
Since tomorrow she had not but glanced at him one time when they held hands to not get sick. And now seeing her like this with Jimin- he understands that the problem is not about them being her soulmates anymore. It was HIM being her soulmate. Lord knows what he has done besides giving her the piece of mind that she desperately needed.
With an anxious mind and furious steps, he gets back to his room and falls into his twirling chair. Mind going over the possibilities of confronting her for the not-so-subtle ignorance of his existence. Because he had to, or he would lose his mind pondering over the why.
The only question remaining was HOW? He breathes out a sigh of annoyance. He didn't want to do anything that he would regret later. Something that would cause an even bigger rift between the two.
Taehyung gets up from the chair, running his hand through his hair. The sound of footsteps coming towards his room with a huff interrupts his brainstorming. He peeks out of his room to find out who the sound belonged to, finding his hyung searching for something in a hurry.
"Hyung! What are you doing?" He asks, fully stepping out of his room.
"The company called; they need me in. And I just can't find my fucking will to go. All I wanted to do was sleep for a while." Yoongi says with a huff making Taehyung crack up.
Yoongi; after having woken up late in the morning, got the news of getting the day off to help Selene settle in from Jin, and needless to say, he was ecstatic. And no, not to help her. But for the bliss that he will get sleeping after having done so.
"Forget that. What are you doing here when everyone is there having fun, huh?" His Hyung asks with a pointed look.
He looks down and shakes his head. "What does it matter, hyung? If I am there or not?"
"You know it does. Everyone wants you there."
"Not her. She doesn't want me there."
"And why do you say that? Has she said something to you?" Yoongi raises an eyebrow.
He laughs, "She'll say something to me when she acknowledges my existence. That's the point, Hyung. She is acting like I don't exist. She has gone and made amends with every one of her soulmates except me. She doesn't want anything to do with me. She's got everything she would want in them anyways, the brain, the beauty, and the heart. Where would I even fit in? There is no place left."
"Don't say that. You need to give her some time. She might still be a little upset at you, or maybe she is afraid just like you. Don't go jumping to conclusions." Yoongi consoles him, putting a hand on his shoulder. Taehyung nods, not believing him fully but letting the hope creep in.
"Now, let's go. Everyone is waiting." Yoongi takes his hand and leads him to her apartment.
Stopping at the door, "You go in. I'll join you guys for dinner after." Saying this, Yoongi disappears down the hall.
With a sigh, he musters up the courage to bear getting ignored by his soulmate again. Gulping down the hurt and anger, he tries to stay calm and impassive as he steps into the apartment, not letting his steps falter.
But, as he steps into the apartment a second time that day the picture playing in front of him is much worse than before. And he broke.
Selene tastes the food from the spoon and then forwards the spoon to Jungkook, who starts jumping with mad brows after tasting it. Making Selene nervous,
"What is it? You don't like it? is it too spicy?"
"Aani aani." He retaliates.
Namjoon laughs as he shakes his head. "He always does this when he likes the food. It's his way of expressing that the food is good."
She laughs, and others don't miss this opportunity to tease the maknae.
"AArghhhh... Jkayyy..."
Jungkook hides behind Jin, hands touching his ears softly; something he does when he's shy, with his bunny smile. They all have this belief that Jin's broad shoulders can save them from anything in the world. I know, Funny. But cute.
Back to the topic at hand, The reason Taehyung broke was not their smiles nor the family-like atmosphere but the fact that Selene is even friendly and smiley towards someone who is not her soulmate. That means the problem is him only. Maybe he went too far when he called her a bitch, but well, she was acting like it. And he won't let regret fill his heart. He did what he did for his best friend, and they are happy now. Trying. Because of that. He just needs to find a way to mend his relationship with her.
Taking a deep breath in, he approaches them. His heart, beating fast. The hope that maybe she will acknowledge him or just pass him a small smile was there. But well, what is the point of false hope, right? Because she didn't. As he approached, Jimin comes by his side, talking about what just took place, oblivious that he had already seen it and let it scratch at his heart.
Everyone takes a seat, curiously watching Selene cook with Jin and Jungkook helping her.
"She is making something from her culture. Gazpacho?" Jimin looks at Selene, confirming if he said it right.
"Gazpacho and Paella (Pa-yay-ah)" she teaches him and he repeats it back to Taehyung.
He nods. One thing he notices is not once during this exchange did Selene look at him directly. She corrected Jimin with a small polite smile and went back to doing her thing. He closes his fist, trying to drink down the hurt.
The cooking goes on, Selene doing most of the work, with Jin and Jungkook teasing and fighting each other in the back. These guys really do start anywhere, but what can one say? That's what makes their relationship exceptional.
Hoseok and Namjoon talk as the latter say something that makes Hobi laugh so hard; he starts clapping his hand.
"Care to share?" Selene raises an eyebrow at them. A small smile played on her lips.
Hoseok shakes his head, making the motion of sealing his lips. All the while trying to contain his laughter. Namjoon hangs his head, also trying to hide his dimpled smile.
Meanwhile, Taehyung had to chew on the hurt and anger he was feeling. He is going to ask her tonight why she is behaving like this to him. He can not be in the dark anymore. His patience has run out. He now just needs to find an appropriate time for it.
--------
Trying to ignore Taehyung has turned out to be a much harder task than I thought it would. His presence is big. Even when he quietly sits on the side, he attracts attention. But that is something I can't give in to.
The way I have seen it, Taehyung has had some problems with me since the start. why wouldn't he? the way I treated them, ignored our connections, no one deserves that kind of behavior. And I am not ready to broach that subject with him yet because I fear he might reject me. I suspect nothing major will happen to me if one or two of my soulmates out of seven refuses to be with me, but still, he holds a piece of my soul. The puzzle of my heart will not be completed if even one of them refuses to be with me.
The quiet, frowny look he wears whenever he is near me is painful to watch. How bad would you feel if your presence became the reason for the frown on your soulmate's face? I don't ever want to experience this again. But the connection between our souls has been pulling my gaze towards him and even with my resistance I had sneaked a handful of looks at him whenever he wasn't looking at me. Better yet, glaring at me.
That's what it has been like with him. He gives me glares, and I try my best to ignore them in order to avoid the hurt.
I sigh softly, making up an excuse to leave the kitchen while the dish simmers. Asking Jungkook and Jin to see it doesn't get burnt.
With their nod, I make my way toward my new bedroom. The decor is all beige and white. On the shelves above my bed sits my plants, giving the room a home-y calm vibe. I take a seat on the side of my bed, smoothening out its wrinkles. I wish someone could smooth out the wrinkles in my and Taehyung's relationship just like that.
I get up, looking for my phone. Maybe my mother could help me and give me some advice on how to approach him.
I look on and inside my bedside table but have no luck; I move onto the shelves, my closet, and under the pillow, but I don't find it anywhere. Where the fuck did I put my fucking phone!
A sigh of frustration leaves my mouth. I should ask one of the guys to call on it. I never put my mobile on silent, so it should be easy to find.
I look down at my feet, carrying me out of my bedroom. God, I need to go to the salon. My toenails are in very poor shape. I huff out at my own ignorance. I never let my salon date pass.
Just as I look back up again, a hand clasps around my own, and I am suddenly being pulled into the dark hallway, opposite of where I intended of going, might I add.
The person slams me against the wall, one hand still holds my own, pressing it against the wall beside my head, and the other rests above my head.
"Wha-" my curse dies out on my tongue when I see who the culprit is.
Collecting myself, I ask, "What are you doing!?" trying to break my hand free from his grip.
"No." He interrupts me, refusing to let go of his hold on me. "What are YOU doing, huh?"
"What!?" I ask at his accusing tone, oblivious of what the fuck he is on about,
Gritting his teeth, he answers, "Why are you ignoring me?"
Hearing his question, I scoff, going into defensive mode. "Excuse me! I am ignoring YOU?"
"Yes."
Alright! If he wants to pretend that he wasn't the one acting all prideful and ignorant before, I'll play along. He's going to be the one regretting either way.
"Well, don't you think that might be because you deserve it? You don't think you did something that would lead to me ignoring you, Taehyung?" I ask him absurdly, still trying to get my hand out of his grip, which he still refuses to let go
"No. I don't think so. All I did was put some sense into you and pushed you in the right direction." He gets closer to me. So close, I can feel his breath on my face.
"Reallyyy!? Excuse me if my memory doesn't serve me right, but weren't you the one who called me a bitch?" I cock my head.
"Um, Weren't you the one acting like a bitch and planning to leave your soulmates?" He throws it back at me. Offending me, boy.
"You all were practically strangers to me! What the fuck had you expected!? I would bear out my heart to you, trust you and accept you all in a matter of an eyeblink!!? Just because you are my soulmates!? That is ABSURD!" I breathe heavily, my heart racing fast.
All my life, I have avoided confrontations. Talking about what I think is hard for me, showing any emotions is a no-go. It is something that I just can't do. Eric was there all the way. Still, it wasn't easy for me to completely be vulnerable in front of him. But this man! He just knows how to push my buttons. God, He is making me talk, and I do not like it. Still, I won't stop now. Not now, This has to be said.
"NO!" he slams the wall beside my head, getting more close to my face; I have to look sideways to avoid contact as he speaks, gritting his teeth. "IF you were acting all cold and ignorant because you wanted to take time to KNOW us before committing and diving into this, it would have been fine; it even would have been welcomed. But you did all that not to know us but to push us away to get back with your past lover! How had YOU expected us to react!? Did you think we would be okay with you stomping all over us to get back to your boyfriend? The same boyfriend who left You for his soulmate. Do you really think he was worthy of your love and sacrifice?"
"No! Don't you dare bring Eric into this. Whatever happened, he is still my friend, and he left me because he cared for all the lives that would have been affected by this, as in Yours! Also, I have never wanted ill for any of you. I would have sealed our bond, and we all could have been happy with the ones who we would choose."
"You really think we could have chosen someone else when we knew you were out there, that at last, we were going to be together because you're the one destiny wants us to be with." He asks, his eyes going soft. Looking into them, for a second, I forget that we were fighting; this is the first time he has let me see the vulnerability in his eyes, and something tells me being vulnerable isn't easy for him as well.
Looking away, I say, "Anyway, moving on. After talking with my mother, I have decided to give this a chance. so why are you bringing this up again when I have already apologized?"
"That's the thing Selene, You have apologized and mended your relationship with everyone. Everybody except me. How do you think I feel about that?" His eyes gave out an emotion I couldn't put my finger on.
"I don't know. I didn't think you'd care." Shrugging, I tell him honestly.
"Why did you think that?"
"Because you don't like me from day one, and you've been ignoring me like a plague, and you are always glaring at me. What else am I supposed to think? You don't act that way when you care, Taehyung." I sigh as I tell him.
The way he has been acting has hurt me, even if I don't have the right to say so. I know I hurt them first, but I get it now, and I want to know them now. And his unspoken rejection stung.
"You think I am ignoring you?" He asks, a bit surprised as he finally softens his grip on my hand, backing away just a little.
"Yes, obviously." Even when I know that I could free my hand now that his grip has loosened, I don't. I let him hold my hand. Craving the little connection our souls are getting from our little encounter.
"What makes you think that?" Pure confusion displayed in his eyes.
"I don't know? The fact that you never talk to me? Leave the room when I enter? Avoid making any eye contact?"
"I don't avoid eye contact; you do. And I don't talk to you because you are always preoccupied with someone. And I leave the room because-" he abruptly stops. His expressions tell me he said something he thought he shouldn't have. Still, I push.
"Because..? Because what Taehyung? Because you don't want to be near a bitch like me? Because you don't want me near your friends? Because you think my personality is so hideous that you can't look at it for-"
"Because it hurts, dammit!" Shouting, he interrupts me. "Because it hurts to see you all smiley and happy with the others and ignoring me. Even with Jungkook, you act like you guys are such good friends while you avoid any interaction with me, your own soulmate." He whispers, making me completely shut up.
When I don't say anything, he looks up with misty eyes. "I know you don't want me. Why would you, when you have everything you could ever want in those three? They're the brains, beauty, and heart. But you're the only soulmate I have. And I want to be with you, even if I have to be at the bottom of your list."
Hearing him breaks my heart; I didn't know he felt like that. I never intended for him to question himself. Freeing my hand from his grip, I touch his cheeks, making his eyes stay on mine. "No. You never were and never will be at the bottom of my list, Taehyung, because there is no list. I never approached you because I thought you didn't want me. I want all of you. All of you hold a piece of my soul; it won't be complete if I don't have you."
Taehyung doesn't say anything for a minute, only looking into my eyes. As if to ensure himself of the sincerity behind my words. When he finds what he is looking for, he shuts his eyes as he comes closer and rests his head against mine, hands covering my own that are still holding his face.
"Thank you," he whispers. "I really needed to hear that. You have no idea how much I had been thinking about it, but to see that you don't feel or think that way is a huge relief like a weight lifted off my shoulders."
"Well, it's true. And stop looking down at yourself. You are the brain, beauty, and heart, as well as much more. And I am sorry. I should have come to talk to you instead of making any assumptions. I would very much like to know you, Kim Taehyung. If you will let me." I whisper back. Completely baring my heart out in front of him. Because he had as well, and I want him to know that he will not be the only one making efforts in this relationship. We need to start on the right foot again, and that's what I want to make this into. A fresh start.
"I wouldn't want anything more. Thank you. And I'm sorry for calling you a bitch too." He apologizes in his deep, hoarse voice, sending my stomach a tingle.
"I forgive you. I kinda was being a bitch that day." I chuckle, and he follows.
"Yeah, kinda." he says with a teasing smile.
We keep staring into each other's eyes, forgetting that a world outside us exists.
After a couple of minutes pass of us drinking each other, I whisper, "We should get back. Everyone must be wondering."
"Uh-hmm, We should." he agrees but doesn't move.
"Taehyung!" I push at his chest slightly.
"Alright." He backs away but takes my hand, intertwining our fingers, as we move toward the kitchen.
It has been the most intimate and vulnerable moment I have had with any of my soulmates. And I am glad it was with him, since we both are afraid to be vulnerable.
I laugh, remembering how fast we went from screaming at each other to stripping off our defenses and exposing our thoughts.
"What?" he asks, curious to know the reason behind my amusement.
"Nothing. Come." I shake my head, leading him down the hall.
----------------------------------------------------
"Can someone please call and ask Suga Hyung if he'll be here by dinner?" Jungkook asks, too eager to eat the food after having a taste.
"He said he'll be here; why do you want to disturb him?" Jin says, making the younger hit his chest and thus, starting a banter.
"I am hungryyy!! And when Suga hyung gets into work, the concept of time doesn't exist for him. Just ask!!" He whines, not having the patience to savor the delicious taste of the dish again.
"If you are too eager, call and ask him yourself. I am not going to make him annoyed again after last time."
At this, Jungkook pulls out his doe eyes, shining so brightly suddenly, as if on command.
Jin sighs in defeat, "You know, you take advantage of that too much."
He does his bunny smile, happy at his win.
"Alright, but I won't make the call. Let's make the only person he won't be annoyed by call him." Jungkook nods. And they both, at the same time, scream, "J-Hopeeeee!!!!"
The latter jumps at the sudden loud voice, "Yah! I am in the same room as you; Why are you shouting?"
"Hoba, call yoongi and ask him when he'll be home." Jin orders in a stern tone.
"Hyung? Did something happen?" Hoseok asks, a little worried since Jin doesn't use his hyung card much, but when he does, they all get serious.
"Yeah, I need to talk to him. Call him." Jin says and turns around, winking at Jungkook, who gives him a thumbs up for the acting.
He looks at his Hosoek hyung, fumbling to get his phone out in a hurry to make the call. He knows his Yoongi hyung wouldn't scold him either. It's just that he is too lazy to call.
Snickering at the thought of their conversation, he opens up a packet of chips Selene offered him to get his mind off dinner until it's served.
He scans the room, observing everyone as he sits on the hand of the couch beside Jin.
Jimin and Namjoon, talking among themselves as the latter says something to make the former surprised. Jimin's lips jut out, and his eyes go round.
Jin is talking to Selene and Hoseok, but the lady's mind isn't on what Jin is talking about but on something else. She nods, having no idea Jin is spewing about how he regrets the one time when Jimin asked him to bet if the Dolphins can breathe underwater.
He follows her line of sight, only to find that her attention wasn't occupied by something but rather someone.
On the sofa across her sits Taehyung. Both soulmates, not being able to keep their eyes off each other. Jungkook could practically see them radiating tension.
But that's when it hits him. Last he knew, they weren't really on good terms with each other, so how the sudden change? He hadn't seen them talking. And it's like a light turned on in his head; he recalls how both of them, so conveniently, disappeared at the same time.
A mischievous glint appears in his eyes, ready to tease his brother.
"V Hyung?" He calls but fails to catch the attention of his hyung as he only hums and never looks his way.
He grins as he clears his throat, ready to call him once again a little louder. "Taehyung Hyung!" And just as he wanted, not only Taehyung looks his way but the others as well. Curious as to what made the maknae raise his voice.
"Where did you run off to before?"
He watches as Taehyung gives him a look of confusion before opening his mouth, "What?"
"You ran off somewhere before. You don't remember?" He quirks an eyebrow: silently challenging him.
The latter furrows his brows, and then suddenly remembering, he goes, "Oh, Ahem! I went to the restroom. Why?"
"Nothing, you were just gone for quite a while. What were you doing for so long?" He questions further.
"He must have been taking a big shit," but instead of him, Jin answers, making the room burst out in laughter. Taehyung and Selene join in as well, albeit fake.
"Yeah, you caught me, Hyung." He chuckles nervously.
"There is no reason to be ashamed of that Taehyung-ah. We all take shits." Jin says, making everyone snicker again.
"Oh, and Selene! Where had you run off? You took your time as well." Jungkook stirs the bowl again.
"Oh uh, I uh, went to um call, my mom, yes! But I uh, couldn't find my phone, so I was just looking for it." Selene stammers, continuously looking between him and Taehyung, not keeping eye contact with him. As if, if she did, she'll be caught red-handed.
"Oh? But your phone was in the kitchen with you, no? So why would you go look for it in the bedroom?" He quirks an eyebrow at her.
"I didn't go to call my mother. I was in the bedroom when I thought to call and check on her, and thus my search began."
"And why did you go to your bedroom, exactly?" He questions with his hand on his face, fingers rubbing his chin in thought.
"Oh! Quit bothering them, Jungkook-ah. We know what you are trying to do, and we all know what happened." Namjoon speaks, not having the heart to see them more flustered.
At his statement, Selene looks down, while Taehyung stares at Selene with his boxy smile.
"Really? Is it that obvious?" Selene asks.
"No, not for the blind people. But unfortunately, we can see, and you guys have practically been leering at each other ever since you came back." Jimin says, chuckling as he elbows Taehyung.
"Who came back?" a voice calls out, making everyone's head snap in its direction.
"Argh! Finally. How long do you take!? I have been waiting for forever!" Jungkook says as he stands up, and instead of greeting Suga, he runs past him, patting him in the back and towards the kitchen. Grateful for not having to wait any longer.
"Yah! Jungkook! I'm the eldest; I will be having the first plate!" Jin calls out, running not far behind him.
"First try to keep up, old man!"
