Nothing on my mind except for how feral and crazy Katniss went when she and Peeta were taken out of the arena. How insane she went because she thought they were hurting him. How if they put that in the movies they probably wouldn’t have been able to drag out the stupid love triangle with annoying Gale.

Been thinking about writing a oneshot of Katniss going feral when she thinks people are trying to harm Peeta.

I saw a post weeks ago that said that Finnick and the rest of the rebels were trying so hard to keep Peeta alive (not bc of Haymitch’s promise to Katniss) but bc they knew she would go absolutely crazy and take out as many people before she got killed.

I want to write an au where Peeta is in D13 with Katniss and the others, but Coin is being a weirdo and Katniss just looses it. Or she has a nightmare and Peeta isn’t with her and no one can calm her down but him. Idk, it’s been floating around my mind.

I need to write it so it’ll stop haunting me. 😭

This is so funny to me bc in Mckj when Peeta and Katniss talk for the first time he says something along the lines of “you’re not much to look at.”

Which doubles as an insult to her beauty, but also bc Katniss is small. Literally everyone around but Prim is physically bigger than her.

I like to think yrs after the epilogue Katniss asks Peeta if he remembers what he meant when he said that to her and he goes “you’re short” shrugs and feeds her some cheese buns.

Do y'all think when Peeta came back from the Capitol he was partially looking at Katniss in the manner he was when he saw her in such a disheveled state after the war partially because after an intense amount of therapy and prepping to live as her neighbor again, he was just standing there like "I was scared of THIS??"

But further thoughts on it. I was walking home and the line when Katniss says “I make a list in my head of all the good things I’ve seen someone do. Every little thing I can remember,” struck me.

In the edit, the first Good Thing we see is Katniss volunteering for Prim. But I wonder if Katniss still views herself as bad. I wonder in the years that she and Peeta grew back together how long it took her to grow back to the little girl who went to the cabin by the lake with her father? How long did it take before music finally became something permanent in her house again? How long did it take for her to meet that little girl again and feel peace and not the chaos of war and death?

I like to think that Peeta wakes up one night to her whispering this list, and he realizes it’s only things others have done. So he starts to add the Good Things she’s done for others.

Just a thought.

Sometimes I get annoyed that we don’t get to read more about Everlark’s “happily ever after.”

But I was thinking about it, (and I hate this but it’s so true). We don’t deserve to experience their happy ending.

And before some of yall try to come and get me, think about it.

As much as we like to think we would be like those within the Districts. Tired of being mistreated and ready to fight for freedom we’re more like those in the Capitol.

I mean, I’ve seen so many ppl (book readers, movie watchers, and everyone in between) say they would like to see Finnick, Haymitch, Annie, Maggs, and Johanna’s Games. I’ve thought about it too.

But that’s the thing. This is why we don’t deserve their happy ending. We crave the violence of their past that we would get bored with their future.

One thing I hate the most is when I see ppl use “you could live a hundred lifetimes and never deserve that boy” from CF as a way to say Katniss isn’t worthy of Peeta, and that he deserved better than her.

I hate it so much and I hate Haymitch a little for saying that to her. If we’re talking about reaction times, it’s not a fair argument to say that Katniss didn’t turn into the Flash and zoom on over to Haymitch’s to strike a deal with him to save Peeta’s life.

She had a PTSD episode. I just never get the fact that ppl hold that against her.

I think ppl forget that Snow came into her home and threatened her. The burden was on her to convince the Districts and Snow of her love for Peeta. So for her to see the consequence of her failure is frightening.

Sooooooo I’m in the mood for some angsty headcanons/thoughts, so here yall go!

- How did Annie and Jo find out about Finnick’s death? Who told her?

- (I saw this on tiktok and it absolutely shattered me) bc Finnick knew about the Rebel plan to get Katniss out of the Arena, he was probably hoping to protect Mags long enough to save her😢

- (not as angsty but thought of this before I fell asleep the other night) if Buttercup ever had kittens one of them would be named Buttermilk😂

- also if Lady had any kids they would be named: Lord, Dude, Miss, Mister, etc

I was 7 when the first Hunger Games movie came out and watched it within those two years of its release. Rue had always stuck out to me. Rue and Cinna. One because they were two out of three black characters, and two because of the amount of screen time they got.

At the time I didn’t realize it, but now that I’m older the HG movie was probably one of the first forms of media I consumed as a child where a black character wasn’t a stereotype of their race and culture.

What I love about Suzanne’s writing is that at face value her black characters are rooted in stereotypes. At least Thresh and Reaper. But what makes Suzanne so much better than loads of writers, game makers, directors, etc is that her black characters have so much more depth. Thresh and Reaper come off as aggressive and blood thirsty. They also have a stereotypical ‘strong black man’ body type. But what makes them full of depth is that that is not all they are. Both Thresh and Reaper were aggressive to deter the other Tributes from attacking them. They were gentle, kind, and full of mercy when it came to Rue and Dill (and as we saw Katniss and the other Tributes as well). Reaper especially with how he cared for the dead in during his Games.

The sense of community in District 11 that is shown through just four characters is telling. In the movies when they rebelled. Or in the books when D11 sent their loaf of bread to Katniss in gratitude. When that old man saluted Katniss.

I just love that her characterization of her black characters actually hold depth. Especially as side characters. She could have played into ignorance and say that they only served a purpose through their death, but she didn’t.

District 11 will always be my favorite District.

All of the characters of color in the HG universe hold a special place in my heart.

And although Cinna and Boggs are only black in the movies, they’re black in my heart when I read the books too.

yk after reading the whole series i wondered how is peeta so perfect? he is literally flawless. but he is human. he has to have some unlikable qualities. then i thought that we only ever see him through katniss's pov. this is how she sees him. to her, he is perfect.

My father added a section on edible plants that was my guidebook to keeping us alive after his death. For a long time, I've wanted to record my own knowledge in it. Things I learned from experience or from Gale, and then the information I picked up when I was training for the Games. I didn't because I'm no artist and it's so crucial that the pictures are drawn in exact detail. Thay's where Peeta comes in. Some of the plants he knows already, others we have dried samples of, and others I have to describe. He makes sketches on scrap paper until I'm satisfied, then I let him draw them in the book. After that, I carefully print all I know about the plant."
