my roman empire: if francis lawrence hadn't fucked up the mockingjay movie (we all know there should've only been one) the hunger games trilogy could've been this generation's star wars or lotr

I find it endlessly amusing that men are so confused, affronted, and concerned about the birth rates and marriage rates declining globally and then they behave like subhuman creatures. There are sex toys now that allow men to simulate fucking the decapitated head of a woman. Men cannot handle rejection and frequently become violent. Men are responsible for 75% of crime and 98% of sex crimes. Pornography has become increasingly violent and stomach-turning. Turns out when you act like an animal and treat women like a commodity, they don't wanna fuck you OR chain themselves to you and make themselves your legal property! Isn't that fun

being a girl is fun and all until you dread the road to be safe so you could reach home without being cat-called, slut shamed, groped, abused, raped or murdered

this may or may not be an unpopular opinion: I love the fact that rory and jess don't end up together. Their relationship is somewhat like a greek tragedy. And if it were any other way I probably wouldn't like it as much.

You know why himym was a brilliant original concept? It wasn’t because ahahah it was a long ass story, or because they were a close knit group of friends.

The true brilliance of himym was that a lot of us are waiting too. Waiting for that person. Wainting for that love and magic. A lot of us understood and found solace in “she is coming as fast as she can, you just might have to wait a little longer”. That was the true originality of that show.

Which is why that finale was a complete betrayal of that. Ok she died, I guess that’s life. But for Ted to go back to Robin at the end of all that. After them showing you that the person you think is right isn’t always the right person.

And that sometimes the right person is worth waiting for.

What a stupid mistake right on the brink of brilliance

Bangladeshis help out in flood-affected communities
Bangladesh is experiencing another round of severe floods. Volunteers from across the country are rushing to the affected areas in trucks, carrying boats, speedboats, and relief supplies.

❝The recent floods in eastern Bangladesh were caused as India intentionally opened the gates of the Dumbur Dam in India's Tripura❞

India demonstrated a lack of humanitarianism and cooperation towards Bangladesh by opening dams without prior notice. India never thinks about the life of the people of Bangladesh. People believe that the gates of the Dumbur Dam were opened intentionally, which is why this sudden flood occurred in Bangladesh. 🌊

Ted does not truely love robin. At least not in the first few seasons. he was obsessed with her, yet he didn't like anything about who she actually was. They didn't like the same things. He just wants to "fix" her into being a perfect wife for him, but she doesn't need fixing. He literally told her he didn't like how independent she was and wished she was more needy because it made him feel bad. Barney, despite his flaws, likes robin for who she is. He loves that she's independent and likes scotch and guns and basically the same kinda stuff he does. They get along really well. Robin LIKES Barney for who he is. robin felt obligated to be with Ted. It's obvious because after their relationship is over it doesn't take long for her to move on. But with Barney, she stays hung up on him even after their breakup. Ted was pining after the idea of robin while Robin was missing Barney, and he was missing her. she actually liked him, she pursued him on her own. Ted had to spend weeks begging for her to give him a chance. It was just...so annoying to watch Ted try and force robin into the role he wanted for her, meanwhile Robin and Barney were falling into actual love. Even though it wasn't perfect, it was real love. Robin let Barney know who she really was. Robin could be herself around Barney. She could never do that with Ted because he was always critical of her behavior and wanting her to change for him.

Okay bear with me, I know how I met your mother ended ages ago but I’ll never get over the ending, it bothers me to no end because I love the show. Recently I had a discussion with a friend about the ending regarding Ted and Robin and we couldn’t agree so now I need to rant here as well.

So here’s my ted talk on Ted Mosby:

Robin and Ted shouldn’t have ended up together, they were zero compatible. Barney and Robin should have, not only for their great storyline but because he gets her. He accepts her for who she truly is. He knows she needs to be independent, she’s her own boss, her own person and he’s okay with it. The show was very specific that one of the many reasons Ted and Robin didn’t work out besides wanting different things in life, was that Ted wanted a princess. There’s a whole episode dedicated to showcasing how Ted wants a woman to need him but Robin doesn’t need him, in fact she doesn’t need anybody. That was the thing that made their relationship fail, Ted hated that she didn’t need him as much as he needed her, she didn’t love him as much as he loved her. Their love was unidirectional. Ted is the kind of guy who just needs to be part of a couple he doesn’t like being alone, we all know someone like that and Robin is not it.

I don’t dislike Ted, I think he is a great super relatable character just not right for Robin. Also he has a bit of a “nice guy complex” and that is one of his flaws as a person. He doesn’t get why he can’t get the committed relationship he wants if he’s a nice guy, with a decent job, who wants to settle down and a have a family. Which on paper is every girls dream, or what people think girls dream about. Despite claiming this, he was never genuinely interested in his partners, most of the times he dated some girl just because he didn’t want to be alone. I’m sorry but that bothers me. You can’t be romantically involved with someone just because you’re desperate to fulfill what you thinks is “the check-list of life” aka “the white picket fence, suburban family dream”, and what is even worse you can’t force someone like Robin that has different goals for her life to do it with you. That’s incredibly selfish.

There’s different guys for everything, there are the guys like Marshall and Ted that are the stereotype of the kind of guys you would take home and introduce to your parents, the one you have a serious relationship with or at least that’s what the show tries to tell us. In the other hand we have guys like Barney, that are the guys you fuck with once in a while because you want it kinky. But the guy spectrum shouldn’t be reduced to just that two extremes.

Now that we are getting to Barney, I know he was far from perfect, he made a lot of mistakes. But the one thing I have to defend him for is that he had very few serious committed relationships but he always gave his 100% in every one of them. Whereas Ted had a lot of serious relationships but he put at least 10% in each one. He was obsessed with finding the perfect girl, the one that accomplished all of his requirements and he had no problem in tossing aside the girls that he didn’t consider to be ideal partners.

He never understood (and the show never made him) the fact that a person perfectly designed for you doesn’t exist. You can find the ideal person for you but it’s never going to be perfect because the truth is that relationships requiere work and compromise and a bit of sacrifice. There will be things that your partner will do that you might dislike and that’s completely normal. The Netflix rom-com Set It Up has an amazing quote that fits this: “We like because and we love in spite of”. That’s it, that’s what relationships are all about and Ted failed to understand this. All of this is a perfectly reasonable explanation of why Ted and Robin shouldn’t have been together. Robin and Barney is my real endgame and I’ll pretend they are happily traveling the world for the rest of my life.

There were only 2 acceptable endings for Robin in HIMYM.

1. She and Barney stay together because they are actually perfect for each other. They have similar values, they support each other, and they are an excellent laser tag duo.

2. Robin and Barney split up because as much as they love each other, their life goals are incompatible. Robin goes on to decide she prefers being single, and although she sometimes gets a little wistful about what might've been in her love life, she is enjoying the crap out of her life. She's an award-winning journalist who travels the world, meeting all sorts of interesting people and having so many adventures. When she's in NYC, she still spends time with her best friends- her family- enjoying their happiness while they enjoy hers.

Either of these endings would have been PERFECT for her. Instead, the writers decided to force Ted and Robin together, no matter how their ending splinters the story around them. Malvados...👿

i love himym but the way it punishes both its leading women for wanting to pursue their careers over their relationships is very unsettling.

when lily leaves marshall for san francisco nobody seems to handle the situation properly (except for barney) and nobody seems to understand her motivations behind that action. not even career woman robin.

lily knows that leaving marshall for san francisco is a mistake but she says it herself that its a mistake she needed to make. it would probably haunt her for the rest of her life if she hadnt. that 'what if' scenario may even have caused rifts between their marriage if she hadnt closed that door before starting a new chapter with marshall. it sure would have been nice to see robin sticking up for her and convince them that if she truly loved marshall she would definitely come back for him.

and don't get me started on robins 'fairy tale ending'. oh god. no. its so bad.

it essentially hammers in the idea that any woman who might be ambitious enough to sacrifice romance is doomed for a lonely pathetic life. as if single and child free is a nightmare for women all around the world and the only way they can be happy is to sacrifice everything they worked for and decide to play second fiddle to a man.

Me when Barney is ready to propose to Robin, when she’s about to get deported (season 4 episode 14! :3) and gets down on one knee behind her, before standing back up when Marshall said it wouldn’t work:

i find something so fascinating about a character remaining so gentle, empathetic and true to himself after going through so much.

I Find Something So Fascinating About A Character Remaining So Gentle, Empathetic And True To Himself

Not because he's a monk, but because he knows and understands how destructive pain, vengeance, pure anger and hatred could be

Aang is one of the strongest characters in the series. I would say the strongest actually

I cannot fathom how they managed to get one of the funniest and one of the most heartbreaking lines in the show to deliver almost back to back and still make it work

MAH SPERM IS FINE!

I'm not ready for this.

my guilty pleasure is when sitcoms get sad
