The Light Also Blossoms
Modern(ish) DSLR and antique lens.

The Milky Way and Mars in the sky over Pittsburgh’s North Park. Shot with an 18-55 kit lens, and a 1972-era 12mm f/11 fisheye, respectively. Anybody wanna buy me a modern ultrawide lens? Like 14 or 15 millimeter?

A nesting pair of Bald Eagles in Pennsylvania’s Maurice K. Goddard State Park.
Shot with a Pentax K-3 with the A* 300mm f4 lens.

Stereoscopic animation of a branch in moss and fungus. Loved the lens flare on this one.

Some evening long exposure shots of Pittsburgh, PA. Exposure lengths vary from 25 seconds to 91 seconds.

Street photography from downtown Pittsburgh, PA.

Some studio lighting experiments, interrupted by a cat.

Took part of an evening from a recent business trip to find some dark(er) skies to try to get some Milky Way photos.
I was aiming for some Bortle Class 2 skies, but due to road closures and my own failing alertness I settled for Class 4 skies. Still enough for a this shot with some sensor-based tracking and a ton of post-processing.

Two shots of the Milky Way from a hilltop in central Pennsylvania, nice and far from any major city or source of light pollution. The orange glow and haze near the horizon comes mostly from smoke particles still blowing down from Canada. The first shot was during nautical twilight, and the second was shot two hours later during the darkest portion of the night.

Downtown Providence at night, with shots of the Rhode Island state house, and of some old industrial buildings converted into apartments and offices.

Cormorants in the water and on the rocks around the Beavertail Lighthouse in Rhode Island.

Developed my first rolls of black and white film at home, using Cinestill Df96 monobath. Pretty easy, and rather good results! I camera scanned these myself. All of these shots are from the same roll of Ilford FP4+, shot in my trusty Pentax K1000.
The two winter scenes above are shot with a 24mm lens, and the cat with a 50mm. The architectural shot below was shot with a 300mm lens, and @beaujagr took that shot of me with a 135mm lens.

There really is no substitute for just being there when it comes to landscapes and wildlife. Sometimes that means waking up a 3:30 in the morning to pack camera equipment and get on the road so you can reach a location an hour before sunrise. Totally worth it.
Now I just have to wait to get the 120 and 135 film developed...
