Why I Refuse To Support PETA
As most of you know, PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) produces lots of sexist, racist, fatphobic, and even ableist ads. Their ideologies match, unfortunately. They are incredibly unreasonable, too, and they effectively want to remove companion animals from human contact entirely.
Members of PETA have done the following to me.
Attempted to take my service dog’s leash
Threatened to take him away
Sent me death threats
Threatened to euthanize him out of “mercy”
Claimed that I am a “slavedriver” and “active participant in the speciesist h*l*caust” (Ah yes, please tell the romani-german-native girl that she’s basically a Nazi. Good idea.)
Left threatening voicemails on my phone.
Scared me so badly that I had to move house at one point
Grabbed my service dog
Tried to pry my hand off of my service dog’s harness
Threw paint on a faux fur-lined coat I was wearing (the paint got matted in my hair to the point where I had to shave my head)
Speaks openly on their hatred for service dog handlers.

This is an ad about animal cruelty that has very loud screaming of dying animals. Also flashing, graphic pictures of said animals, like a dead chicken or a pig biting a wired fence.
It’s about thirty seconds, the screaming starts 10 seconds in and the ad isn’t skippable.
It can trigger panic attacks and cause your anxiety to skyrocket, and it’s just generally a very disturbing thing no one should see.
I’ve only seen a warning yet, haven’t stumbled across this before despite using YT a lot but for the love of God please be careful. Here is a link to that video but ONLY WATCH IT IF YOU KNOW YOU’RE NOT SENSITIVE TO THIS TYPE OF CONTENT. I’m merely giving out the link so you can report it and I wouldn’t advise any of you actually watch it.

Another edit just to reassure you guys: The animals you can hear in it aren’t suffering! It’s heavily edited pig squeals, pigs are noisy animals and are most likely to get loud when they’re excited or there’s food around. The audio was drastically altered to make it more traumatizing. Still wouldn’t recommend anyone listens to this.

you guys remember how it came out that PETA kills about 90% of the animals it takes in, including healthy and adoptable puppies and kittens, stating “ We could become a no-kill shelter immediately. It means we wouldn’t do as much work”?
you guys remember when PETA advocated killing all pit bulls for the crime of being pit bulls?
you guys remember when PETA handed out these comics to children when there were no adults looking?
you guys remember when they made a porn site and then filled it with videos of animal abuse, and (also in that link) claimed cats should be vegetarian?
you guys remember when PETA lied about sheep shearing, got caught, and defended the lie as true even after they admitted the sheep in their picture wasn’t even real?
you guys remember when they tried to excuse their horrifying ways by claiming that the person who exposed them was manipulating the facts by taking them and putting them in the wrong context?
Because I remember. I remember everything.
And I’m gonna make sure everyone else remembers too.
I saw this interesting conspiracy theory on Reddit that PETA is an astroturf org funded by meat companies to make vegans and vegetarians look bad and it’s my new favorite conspiracy theory (even if it’s probably false)
No but this is so legit PETA is so fucked up. They literally send animals to kill shelters specifically so that they can try to persuade people by saying that "[however many] animals are killed each year..." There's a bunch of other things that they do but it's absolutely horrible do not support them ugh

On top of that, they barely understand basic agriculture.
Take sheep, for example. PETA acts like shearing a sheep is like skinning them alive. But really it’s the equivalent of getting a buzzcut and ultimately helps the sheep. It keeps them cooler during the spring and summer, keeps parasites out of their wool, and makes them less heavy.
Livestock is a farmer’s primary source of income. If you abuse what’s making you money, you’ll gain less money as a result. And with livestock that produce food products, you have the risk of making people sick if you do not properly take care of them. I do not understand at all how PETA doesn’t realize this. But hey, what does the kid who’s been raised around ranches and livestock their whole life know compared to a bunch of city folks who have probably never seen a cow in person?

dear everyone who has said this: I would like to bring up a thought experiment. this is a pitbull i found off of google.
you would assume he is big and scary right ? because they were bread specifically to help fight bears by grabbing the ears and head. they are strong dogs. scary huh? now let me get another dog for you. this is a dachshund.
isnt this lil guy adorable? he is shaped like a cute silly little hot dog!!! Dachshunds were bred to fight badgers, which if you don't know are incredibly aggressive violent animals. Any dog can be dangerous if mistreated. Being a dog racist isn't going to protect your children from the big bad elderly pit bull who is peacefully sitting in his owners backyard. the only time i condone eradicating a dog breed is if the breed is unhealthy, like pugs for example. -sincerely, someone who lost a pitbull due to someone poisoning his food.

It is possible this is a "game recognises game" situation
Don't donate to Goodwill. Find a Salvation Army to donate clothes and things to instead. The CEO of Goodwill also makes a frighten amount of money.
Charities/organisations to avoid:
PETA: They’d rather spend their money on publicity campaigns than on the animals in their care. PETA killed 73.8% of the animals in their care in 2015 (x)
FCKH8: Is a for-profit company that exploits oppressed groups for money. They’re also wildly uninformed, and spread misogyny, cissexism and bi/panphobia, as well as stealing their posts/designs (x)
Autism Speaks: They spend most of their money on researching a way to eliminate autism, heighten the stigma against autism and don’t have a single autistic person on their board (x)
Please support other, better charities, and feel free to add any others you can think of to this.
