He gasped awake while feeling his body shake. He was having a recurring dream where he killed his jedi. It was getting worse the further into the war they got.
He closed his eyes and saw Anakin laying on the ground with unseeing eyes and a puddle of blood surrounding him.
He felt a shiver rack his frame and he looked over. Anakin was still peacefully sleeping next to him.
He reached out and gently pressed a hand against his heart. It was still beating and he sighed in relief.
Anakin still wasn't awake, so he gently pressed his Generals face into his chest and snuggled him.
Random prompt
Something had gone wrong during the mission. They weren't told General Grievous had arrived with a droid battalion. Instead they found that out the hard way and were trying to get passed the droids defenses.
"This isn't working."
He kept deflecting blaster bolts away from his men while trying to come up with a plan. They were being overrun and he was loosing a lot of men.
He deflected another blast before backing up and ducking behind a huge bolder. Rex was already hiding behind it and looked over at him.
"I have a plan."
He gave his captain a curious look and Rex continued talking.
"We need a distraction that will draw the heavy cannons. That way we can get air support and take out the Separatist's base."
"Alright I'll distract the heavy cannons."
He ran out of cover while deflecting blaster bolts and started running away from his men. He used a grenade to cause a distraction before dodging a blast from the heavy cannons.
He dodged a few more shots and blew up one of the heavy cannons. It left an opening and he ran forward while slicing droids and dodging blaster fire.
He destroyed another heavy cannon with the force before climbing on top of one and taking it over. He fired at the cannon that turned to point at him and watched it go up in smoke.
He smirked and finished off the last two cannons before taking down more droids.
He managed to make his way back to Rex and they were now back to back fighting. They were surrounded by droids who suddenly appeared out of nowhere. He used the force to warn him about any oncoming blaster bolts and slightly turned towards his captain.
"If we get out of here I'm sucking your dick."
Through the force he could feel his Captain's embarrassment and arousal. When the man turned to look at him he smirked and watched his Captain's eyes narrow in challenge.
"I'll hold you to that."
They kept fighting and eventually air support flew through and started bombing the droids factory. They cheered and watched the ships fly past. Before he pointed at the Separatist's base.
"The battle isn't over yet. We need to take that base."
His men rallied behind him and they quickly destroyed the base and took out any remaining droids. Grievous had escaped when he realized the battle had shifted.
It wasn't a surprise, but it was still a little disappointing.
After the battle was over they cleaned up the mess and gave the jedi council a report on what happened. When he finally signed off he breathed a sigh of relief.
Rex gave him a smoldering look and said.
"I think it's time you did what you promised."
He laughed because he was joking before. He turned away from Rex and was about to leave. When he was suddenly grabbed and pulled against his captain.
"Rex?"
His captain looked him over before he practically growled.
"My room now."
He shivered and followed Rex back to his room.

They were planning their next mission when Rex accidentally said.
"Good idea cyare."
He looked up when he noticed the room was silent. His brothers were staring at him in shock. He shifted a little and asked.
"What's wrong?"
Fives was looking back and forth while his mouth closed like a fish.
"Are you two together?"
He looked over at Anakin who was looking away and blushing.
"Anakin?"
He didn't say anything instead he looked even more embarrassed.
He looked around while trying to figure out what was going on. His men looked excited and some of them were passing around money as though they made a bet.
He turned towards Fives who was wearing a shit eating grin. His eyes sparkled with mischief and he looked as though they just won the war.
"What did I say?"
Echo looked between them with a small frown.
"You called the General Cyare."
"No I didn't."
Jesse shouted from across the room.
"YES YOU DID!"
"No I didn't."
He crossed his arms while feeling annoyed.
Jesse ran over and shoved a screen in front of his face. He tried to push it away, but Jesse just shoved it back.
"Will you st--."
"Will you just look at the screen already."
He looked down to see whatever Jesse had to show him only to be surprised.
He watched as they went over the next mission and Anakin came up with a good idea. That wasn't surprising because Anakin had a lot of good ideas. However he was surprised by what came after.
He watched as he said.
"Good idea cyare."
As though it was the easiest thing in the galaxy. The way he said it you would have assumed they were together.
He looked up at Fives, Echo and Jesse in shock before turning to Anakin.
"Anakin, do you know what cyare means?"
His jedi looked over at him before nodding.
He suddenly felt nervous and he shifted while trying to figure out what to say next.
"I'm sorry if that made you uncomfortable."
Anakin frowned while shaking his head.
"You didn't make me uncomfortable. I was just surprised."
Anakin glanced at him before looking away. He looked just as nervous as he felt.
"Rex I like you a lot."
His General blushed and for a moment it was silent. Everyone was watching them and waiting for what he would say.
"I like you too."
Anakin smiled and he walked closer. When they were right in front of each other he lightly put his hands on Anakin's waist.
"Is this okay?"
He whispered between them.
"Yes."
He leaned closer until their lips were almost touching.
"Can I kiss you."
"Yes."
Their lips pressed together and he closed his eyes. It was better than he imagined.
He could hear his brothers cheering begin him, but he didn't care. All he cared about was kissing Anakin and figuring everything else along the way.
He awoke to Rex next to him and smiled. His husband gave him an adoring smile before kissing him. He smiled into the kiss and brought Rex closer.
His husband pulled back a little and rubbed his hip.
"Good morning."
He blushed and Rex leaned down to kiss his neck. He moved his head out of the way and sighed. He loved waking up with Rex. It was moments like these where he could forget the war.
Finding a cat
Anakin was walking home and shivering. He forgot his jacket at home after deciding to go on a quick walk to clear his head.
He was having nightmares again and they were getting worse. He knew his boyfriend Rex was worried, but he didn't want to talk about it.
He didn't know how to explain what he was seeing. It couldn't possibly be real and yet it felt like a memory from another life.
A life where he fought in a war and had a blue blade of light.
He continued walking until he heard a loud meow. He looked around thinking maybe he imagined it except he heard it again.
He felt the rain soak his clothes, but at thT moment he didn't care. Instead he started looking for the cat.
He walked down an alley while listening quietly. He heard the meow again and this time it sounded distressed. His heart twisted and he looked around. He could hear the cat meowing and he looked behind the dumpster.
The car was soaking wet and looked miserable. The little kitten was clearly a stray and he didn't look very happy.
He could see the cat shivering and he gently reached out. The cat tried to swipe his claws, but he dodged. The cat gave him a surprised look before sniffing his hand.
He brushed a hand along the cat and felt it's back curve. He kept petting until slowly the cat starting calming down. It purred and tried to climb into his lap.
He laughed and scooped the kitten up. He was glared at, but once he started moving. The cat looked around curious.
He brought the little kitten home and saw Rex staring at it. He raised an eyebrow at him and he gave his best puppy dog eyes. While holding the wet kitten up.
It seemed to realize what he was doing because it made it's look pathetic and helpless in his arms.
Rex sighed in defeat and he cheered before kissing him and going to warm them both up. He could hear Rex in the kitchen and knew his boyfriend was planning on making hot cocoa.
He smiled and looked down at the cat. He was going to have a safe and warm home here.
"Hey baby."
He kissed Anakin's head before feeling his forehead.
"You're still warm, love."
Anakin groaned and leaned into his touch while looking flushed.
"I'm cold."
"You have a fever."
Anakin groaned again and shut his eyes.
"My head hurts."
"I'll get you some medicine for you're head and then I'm going to give you a cold bath."
"No bath."
He kissed Anakin's forehead again while shaking his head.
"I'm sorry love, but I need to lower you're temperature."
He stood up and grabbed some medicine from the cabinet. Before giving it to Anakin along with a glass of water. He reluctantly took it before curling back into a little ball.
After that he went to the fresher and turned on the bath. He knew Anakin was going to hate it, but he needed to get his temperature down.
A few minutes later and the bath was ready. When he went back to the couch he found Anakin still curled up into a little ball. He was adorable and he hated having to move him.
"Anakin."
"Hmm... Rex."
He brushed the hair out of his face and said.
"The bath is ready."
"Don't want to."
"Anakin I need to cool you down before you over heat."
"Carry me."
He picked Anakin up bridal style and Anakin nuzzled his neck. He carried him into the bathroom where he quickly, but gently stripped Anakin of his clothing.
After that he carried him into the bathtub and Anakin immediately looked upset.
"C...cold."
"I know, I'm sorry Anakin. I'll make it quick."
He poured cold water over him while Anakin clung to him. He looked miserable and he hated seeing him so upset.
When Anakin's temperature was brought down he picked him up and wrapped him in a fluffy towel.
He then carried him into their bedroom and changed him into dry clothes.
Anakin was then placed on their bed where he looked up at him and asked.
"Will you please stay."
"Of course."
He climbed into bed and wrapped his arms around Anakin. Immediately the jedi pressed against him and fell asleep. He watched Anakin's steady breathing for a while before finally falling asleep.
He had been doing reports when Fives texted him late at night. He sighed while looking at the text and debating if he should ignore it or not. It was about condoms and normally he would ignore his brother.
However he knew how important condoms were and as Fives captain, he needed to make sure his men were safe. Even if they were the ones having sex and it should be there problem and responsibility.
After sighing again he finished his report, and went to the nearest store.
He ignored the awful bright lights and the terrible, generic pop music while quickly walking down the aisles. He felt a little embarrassed when he grabbed the condoms. Even though he shouldn't be, it's not like they were for him.
He quickly turned the corner without paying attention and ran into someone.
He looked up in shock and nearly died when he came face to face with his general. He cursed his luck and Fives for putting him into this situation.
He looked at his General and found him holding a bag of chips, candy and a terrible rom com.
He quickly snapped his hand up in a salute saying.
"Sir."
However when he felt the box of condoms brush against his head. He cringed and looked at his General while wishing the ground would swallow him up.
General Skywalker stared at him and the box of condoms while blushing.
"H--how's it going Rex?"
He glanced at the box of condoms before quickly saying.
"There not for me there for Fives. I just want to make sure he is being safe and using protection."
General Skywalker nodded and even smiled a little. He didn't want it to get awkward, so he quickly changed the subject.
"Are you having a movie night?"
"Yeah, I was planning on watching something with Ahsoka."
His General looked at him before asking.
"Do you want to come?"
Without thinking he quickly said.
"Yes."
Anakin smiled and pulled him to the cash register.
"Great, I can give you a ride if you want."
He was about to shake his head, before Fives popped into his mind. He was getting condoms for the man, and he was the reason he was put in this awkward situation. So he might as well embarrass him as payback.
"Sure, but we need to make a quick stop along the way."
"Okay."
He watched his General check out his stuff while thinking.
"Tonight is going to be fun."

The 501st was celebrating another victory. They had just reached Coruscant and were planning on getting wasted at 79's.
Fives, Jesse, Tup and Echo begged the General to come. It was part of their plan to get the General and Rex together.
They both needed to relax and have some fun. Rex had needed to get laid since the beginning of the war.
They had decided to take it upon themselves and bring them both together in a more relaxing environment.
"Please come and party with us."
They begged trying to convince their general.
"We won thanks to your plan."
Anakin shook his head while holding a few datapads.
"I can't I'm busy with reports."
"You can do them tomorrow. Please come with us."
They pushed Tup forward because he had the best puppy dog eyes.
The General tried to say he wasn't going so they started dragging him out the door, until the General didn't have a choice. They silently cheered now that they had the General they needed to make sure Rex was also going.
When Hardcase and Jesse gave a confirmation text they took off and flew to 79's. While they were flying Echo tried to distract the General. They didn't want him asking too many questions or trying to escape.
When they got there the music was loud and when they entered, the 501st started cheering because their General came. They all knew about the plan and were hyped. Some of the 212th were cheering as well.
The wolfpack was also there and they watched their cheering brothers in confusion. Except for Wolffe who had a huge smirk on his face.
General Skywalker was bright red and looked embarrassed. They lead him to a table where Rex was already sitting. They made him sit next to Rex and started ordering a bunch of beer.
They needed to get them really drunk so they will finally realize how much they love each other.
General Skywalker didn't drink a lot and because of this he was a light weight. It only took a few drinks before he was drunk.
To make it even better General Skywalker was an affectionate drunk. He was curled against Rex and slurring his words while he talked about droids.
Rex was blushing while listening to Anakin as though he was talking about something important.
He was starting to get drunk and they ordered more drinks for him.
It took three more before their captain was finally drunk. His arm was around Anakin's waist and they were pressed together while talking.
Rex finished his drink while Anakin drank some of his. When they put their cups down Anakin climbed into Rex's lap.
Echo quickly took a picture and a few brothers took pictures as well. By the end of the night everyone in the GAR would have seen those pictures.
Anakin looked up at Rex while flushed from alcohol.
“Is that a blaster in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?”
Rex smirked and held Anakin's hips.
“For you mesh’la? Both”
They grinned at each other and silently cheered because their plan was working. Rex had Anakin get off of him and they both helped each other stand.
Rex held the General as they stumbled out of 79's. Rex said something about going back to his room. They watched them leave before cheering in excitement. Their plan had worked and they were going to celebrate.
SCENE START
{The entire temple was running away from the clones that were now attacking them all. The 501st Legion and the man at the helm of the army, Anakin Skywalker, attacked every single Jedi they saw with blasters, a laugh coming from Anakin as he shot them.
Every single person who was shot hit the floor, the blasters set to stun as Anakin walked quickly with Rex at his heels, the others going to round up the Jedi to save them from the clones carrying out the Order.
Anakin growled as he sealed off the Jedi Council room, smirking, knowing he will have to act now as he stood in front of the council members who looked more annoyed, unaware of the chaos outside}
Anakin:
Any moment now, Jedi scum!
{Anakin turns to Rex}
Anakin:
Believe me I know, I've sunk pretty low
But whatever I've done, they’ve deserved
Mace Windu:
Skywalker!
Rex:
Quiet!
{He aims blaster at him, shutting up the man quickly along with the others}
Anakin:
I'm the bad guy, that's fine
It's no fault of mine and some justice at last will be served!
Depa:
(reaches a gentle hand out to him)
Please just listen
{Rex puts his hand on Anakin’s shoulder before he nodded and moved in front of Anakin as said man turns around and tries to mentally collect himself}
Rex:
Now it's time to step up or it's time to back down
And there's only one answer I see
And I'll stand up and fight 'cause I know that he’s right
And I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready
Ready as I'll ever be
{The rest of the 501st legion come walking in before they sealed the door and turned to the council, all of them surrounding their general}
Rex:
(turns to the council)
Now it's time to rise up or it's time to stand down
And our forces are already free
And I swear, though we’re flawed, we’ll no longer be ignored
Are you ready?
{Anakin turns to face the council with amber eyes, a collective gasp coming from the group}
Anakin:
I'm ready
The 501st Legion:
We're ready (we're ready)
Anakin:
Ready as I'll ever be...
{Anakin and Rex move away for a moment as Anakin looks at Rex through the coloured contacts Kix slipped into his hand. Rex placed a hand gently on his general’s shoulder}
Rex:
Do you truly think we can do this?
{Anakin gives him a small smile and grabs his hand, pulling him back to the others}
Anakin:
Together we will guarantee!
(Anakin turns to the Jedi)
Anakin with the 501sh Legion:
That they will hear me! (now it's time to act shy or look to the sky)
Some day you’ll thank me (and now we all can be free)
Anakin:
(In his mind)
I hope they all will agree...
The 501st Legion:
Now the line's in the sand and our moment's at hand
Kix:
And I'm ready
Rex:
I'm ready
Echo and Fives:
We’re ready!
{Anakin takes a small breath to calm himself as he is hidden behind the clones who block him from sight}
Anakin(whispers)(sobs):
Ready as I can ever be...
{The Chancellor enters as the last note hits, all eyes turning to him}
SCENE END
Brain is currently very insistent on a messy sort-of-Rexwalker AU:
Rex is initially a general sort of neutral-positive on Anakin as a CO but, upon seeing Anakin's behavior around Padme, comes up with a plan:
Seduce his Jedi to gain that specific brand of off-the-shits crazy protectiveness for himself and, by extension, his brothers.
Anakin ends up in LOVE, and going against the CHANCELLOR because now it's Obi-Wan and Padme and Rex that are telling him this guy is kind of not great, even if Rex, for legal reasons, usually frames it as 'he means well, but he's a politician, not a military commander, and he's not trained in tactics, and he has no experience, so please take his commentary with a grain of salt, sir." "I'm back to being a Sir?" "...I can't call just call you 'Ani' in the field." "Okay..." and then Anakin is like what if I get him all the snacks as a show of affection and Padme is supportive enough to bake some of those snacks herself.
Meanwhile, Rex is just like... "Well. The sex is good. He's really invested in all this. The consequences have been pretty great for me. I don't know how to tell him that my feelings aren't where his are, but…"
"Is this a really weird sugar baby situation?"
He doesn't dislike Anakin! He's just. Not as invested. And he was kind of being a manipulative bastard about it. He doesn't want to stop fucking around with Anakin, but like... Anakin's really, really intense. He's very in love. Rex doesn't know what to do with that.
And then Anakin? Commits treason? For him?
He just follows up on the Fives situation and finds out about the chips, because of Rex, and confronts Palpatine about it, because of Rex, and kills the ruler of the galaxy in broad daylight, because of Rex, and now he's in jail awaiting trial for murder, because of Rex.
What in the world is the good captain supposed to do with that?
How do you tell a guy you were playing it up so he'd be more willing to risk his life for you and your brothers after that?
(I'm going to tag this as dubcon just because Rex is being deliberately manipulative about this, and it could be argued that his lying about the strength of his feelings compromises Anakin's consent.)
God I decided to write AotC flavor whiny teen Anakin and I need to add something for him to fight because Rex is just not biting. This Skywalker boy is so annoying and self-absorbed. I need him to kill something big and impressive so Rex is like 'wait no, hold on, he's cool' because the whole Jedi thing isn't a factor and Anakin is giving him the Rexwalker equivalent of the sand speech but Rex isn't as nutty as Padme so it's not actually working--

IDK if it existed in other fandoms but I first ran into this particular version in Voltron Basically, there's a Bug that acts like a cupid arrow If it bites you, you fall in love/infatuation with the first person you see And it takes a few days to wear off And if you already love the person, you don't act that different But if you aren't in love, then you act radically different (like love potion different) (If you're in Voltron to any degree I can link you a comic or fic)
I've got one where it's Anidala and all it does is take their Private Romance Dialogue and make it public. But Rexwalker would be A Wee Bit More Complicated.
The first question must be 'which one gets bit?'
Because if Anakin gets bit my first thought is "Anakin, and it brings all his bullshit to the surface."
But Rex getting bit and then being super touchy-feely...

Oh. I definitely was thinking both for maximum hilarity. But yeah. Rex getting bit and just. Casually draping himself over Anakin. Clinging a little. Might take a little convincing to get him to let go of his jetii considering that every time he does Anakin somehow ends up in trouble
